We study the elliptic double-box integral, which contributes to generic massless QFTs and is the only contribution to a particular 10-point scattering amplitude in N=4 SYM theory. Based on a Feynman parametrization, we express this integral in terms of elliptic polylogarithms. We then study its symbol, finding a rich structure and remarkable similarity with the non-elliptic case. In particular, the first entry of the symbol is expressible in terms of logarithms of dual-conformal cross-ratios, and elliptic letters only occur in the last two entries. Moreover, the symbol makes manifest a differential equation relating the double-box integral to a 6D hexagon integral, suggesting that it can be bootstrapped based on the latter integral alone.
Elliptic multiple polylogarithms occur in Feynman integrals and in particular in scattering amplitudes. They can be characterized by their symbol, a tensor product in the so-called symbol letters. In contrast to the non-elliptic case, the elliptic letters themselves satisfy highly non-trivial identities, which we discuss in this paper. Moreover, we introduce the symbol prime, an analog of the symbol for elliptic symbol letters, which makes these identities manifest. We demonstrate its use in two concrete examples at two-loop order: the unequal-mass sunrise integral in two dimensions and the te…
Recent progress on scattering amplitudes has benefited from the mathematical technology of symbols for efficiently handling the types of polylogarithm functions which frequently appear in multi-loop computations. The symbol for all two-loop MHV amplitudes in planar SYM theory is known, but explicit analytic formulas for the amplitudes are hard to come by except in special limits where things simplify, such as multi-Regge kinematics. By applying symbology we obtain a formula for the leading behavior of the imaginary part (the Mandelstam cut contribution) of this amplitude in multi-Regge kinemat…
We derive an analytic representation of the ten-particle, two-loop double-box integral as an elliptic integral over weight-three polylogarithms. To obtain this form, we first derive a four-fold, rational (Feynman-)parametric representation for the integral, expressed directly in terms of dual-conformally invariant cross-ratios; from this, the desired form is easily obtained. The essential features of this integral are illustrated by means of a simplified toy model, and we attach the relevant expressions for both integrals in ancillary files. We propose a normalization for such integrals that r…
We study the symbology of planar Feynman integrals in dimensional regularization by considering geometric configurations in momentum twistor space corresponding to their leading singularities (LS). Cutting propagators in momentum twistor space amounts to intersecting lines associated with loop and external dual momenta, including the special line associated with the point at infinity, which breaks dual conformal symmetry. We show that cross-ratios of intersection points on these lines, especially those on the infinity line, naturally produce symbol letters for Feynman integrals in $D=4-2ε$, wh…
We express a toy model of the ten-point elliptic double-box, first characterized in arXiv:1712.02785, in terms of elliptic polylogarithms. This toy model corresponds to a particular unphysical limit of the elliptic double-box in which it depends on only three dual conformal cross-ratios. While the diagram is fully permutation symmetric in the cross-ratios in this limit, this property is not manifest in either of the two elliptic polylogarithm formalisms we use to express it. We observe that the function is a pure elliptic polylogarithm, which is the result of nontrivial identities between elli…
The dimensionally regularized massless on-shell double box Feynman diagram with powers of propagators equal to one is analytically evaluated for general values of the Mandelstam variables s and t. An explicit result is expressed either in terms of polylogarithms Li_a(-t/s), up to a=4, and generalized polylogarithms S_{a,b}(-t/s), with a=1,2 and b=2, or in terms of these functions depending on the inverse ratio, s/t.
We present the master integrals needed for the light fermionic two-loop corrections to top quark pair production in the gluon fusion channel. Via the method of differential equations we compute the results in terms of multiple polylogarithms in a Laurent series about d=4, where d is the space-time dimension. The most involved topology is a non-planar double box with one internal mass. We employ the coproduct-augmented symbol calculus and show that significant simplifications are possible for selected results using an optimised set of multiple polylogarithms.
We present an algorithm for the analytical evaluation of dimensionally regularized massless on-shell double box Feynman diagrams with arbitrary polynomials in numerators and general integer powers of propagators. Recurrence relations following from integration by parts are solved explicitly and any given double box diagram is expressed as a linear combination of two master double boxes and a family of simpler diagrams. The first master double box corresponds to all powers of the propagators equal to one and no numerators, and the second master double box differs from the first one by the secon…
Based on the Simplified Differential Equations approach, we present results for the two-loop non-planar hexa-box families of master integrals. We introduce a new approach to obtain the boundary terms and establish a one-dimensional integral representation of the master integrals in terms of Generalised Polylogarithms, when the alphabet contains non-factorisable square roots. The results are relevant to the study of NNLO QCD corrections for $W,Z$ and Higgs-boson production in association with two hadronic jets.
The dimensionally regularized massless double box Feynman diagram with powers of propagators equal to one, one leg off the mass shell, i.e. with non-zero q^2=p_1^2, and three legs on shell, p_i^2=0, i=2,3,4, is analytically calculated for general values of q^2 and the Mandelstam variables s and t. An explicit result is expressed through (generalized) polylogarithms, up to the fourth order, dependent on rational combinations of q^2,s and t, and a one-dimensional integral with a simple integrand consisting of logarithms and dilogarithms.
We study massless one-loop box integrals by treating the number of space-time dimensions D as a negative integer. We consider integrals with up to three kinematic scales (s, t and either zero or one off-shell legs) and with arbitrary powers of propagators. For box integrals with q kinematic scales (where q=2 or 3) we immediately obtain a representation of the graph in terms of a finite sum of generalised hypergeometric functions with q-1 variables, valid for general D. Because the power each propagator is raised to is treated as a parameter, these general expressions are useful in evaluating c…
The three-loop master integrals for ladder-box diagrams with one massive leg are computed from an eighty-five by eighty-five system of differential equations, solved by means of Magnus exponential. The results of the considered box-type integrals, as well as of the tower of vertex- and bubble-type master integrals associated to subtopologies, are given as a Taylor series expansion in the dimensional regulator parameter epsilon = (4-d)/2. The coefficients of the series are expressed in terms of uniform weight combinations of multiple polylogarithms and transcendental constants up to weight six.…
The dimensionally regularized massless non-planar double box Feynman diagram with powers of propagators equal to one, one leg off the mass shell, i.e. with p_1^2=q^2\neq 0, and three legs on shell, p_i^2=0, i=2,3,4, is analytically calculated for general values of q^2 and the Mandelstam variables s,t and u (not necessarily restricted by the physical condition s+t+u=q^2). An explicit result is expressed through (generalized) polylogarithms, up to the fourth order, dependent on rational combinations of q^2,s,t and u, and simple finite two- and three fold Mellin--Barnes integrals of products of g…
