We present the Hamiltonian formulation of the recently constructed integrable theories of arXiv:2006.12525. These theories turn out to be canonically equivalent to the sum of an asymmetrically gauged CFT and of the most general $λ$-deformed model of arXiv:1812.04033. Using the Hamiltonian formalism, we prove that the full set of conserved charges of the models of arXiv:2006.12525 are in involution, ensuring their Hamiltonian integrability. Finally, we show that the equations of motion of these theories can be put in the form of zero curvature Lax connections.
In this contribution we briefly review recent developments in the theory of long-range integrable spin chains. These spin chains constitute a natural generalisation of the well-studied integrable nearest-neighbour chains and are of particular relevance to the integrability in the AdS/CFT correspondence since the dilatation operator in the asymptotic region is conjectured to be a Hamiltonian of an integrable long-range psu spin chain.
A new integrable boundary for the classical nonlinear Schrödinger model is derived by dressing a boundary with a defect. A complete investigation of the integrability of the new boundary is carried out in the sense that the boundary ${\cal K}$ matrix is derived and the integrability is proved via the classical $r$-matrix. The issue of conserved charges is also discussed. The key point in proving the integrability of the new boundary is the use of suitable modified Poisson brackets. Finally, concerning the kind of defect used in the present context, this investigation offers the opportunity to …
Motivated by the search for new backgrounds with integrable string theories, we classify the D-brane geometries leading to integrable geodesics. Our analysis demonstrates that the Hamilton-Jacobi equation for massless geodesics can only separate in elliptic or spherical coordinates, and all known integrable backgrounds are covered by this separation. In particular, we identify the standard parameterization of AdS_p X S^q with elliptic coordinates on a flat base. We also find new geometries admitting separation of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation in the elliptic coordinates. Since separability of t…
ABJM theory in the presence of a half-BPS domain wall is dual to the D2-D4 probe brane system with nonzero worldvolume flux. The ABJM domain wall was recently shown to be integrable to lowest order in perturbation theory and bond dimension. In the present paper we show that the string theory dual of this system is integrable, namely that the string boundary conditions on the probe D4-brane preserve the integrability of the Green-Schwarz sigma model. Our result suggests that the ABJM domain wall is integrable to all loop orders and for any value of the bond dimension.
We present an intuitive diagrammatic representation of a new class of integrable $\s$-models. It is shown that to any given diagram corresponds an integrable theory that couples $N$ WZW models with a certain number of each of the following four fundamental integrable models, the PCM, the YB model, both based on a group $G$, the isotropic $\s$-model on the symmetric space $G/H$ and the YB model on the symmetric space $G/H$. To each vertex of a diagram we assign the matrix of one of the aforementioned fundamental integrable theories. Any two vertices may be connected with a number of lines havin…
We consider a class of 2d $σ$-models on products of group spaces that provide new examples of a close connection between integrability and stability under the RG flow. We first study the integrable $G \times G$ model derived from the affine Gaudin construction (for which the 1-loop $β$-functions were found in arXiv:2010.07879) and show that its condition of integrability is preserved also by the 2-loop RG flow. We then investigate the RG flow in the gauged $G \times G /H$ model, in particular the integrable $T^{1,1}$ model found in arXiv:2010.05573. We also construct a new class of integrable …
A master equation expressing the classical integrability of two-dimensional non-linear sigma models is found. The geometrical properties of this equation are outlined. In particular, a closer connection between integrability and T-duality transformations is emphasised. Finally, a whole new class of integrable non-linear sigma models is found and all their corresponding Lax pairs depend on a spectral parameter.
In previous work, we introduced a class of integrable spin Calogero-Moser systems associated with the classical dynamical r-matrices with spectral parameter, as classified by Etingof and Varchenko for simple Lie algebras. Here the main purpose is to establish the Liouville integrability of these systems by a uniform method.
In this paper, based on simple analytic techniques, we explore the integrability conditions for classical stringy configurations defined over $ η$ as well as $ λ$- deformed backgrounds. We perform our analysis considering classical string motions within various subsectors of the full target space geometry. It turns out that classical string configurations defined over $ η$- deformed backgrounds are non-integrable whereas on the other hand, the corresponding configurations are integrable over the $ λ$- deformed background. Our analysis therefore imposes a strong constraint on the operator spect…
Similarly to the complex matrix model, the rainbow tensor models are superintegrable in the sense that arbitrary Gaussian correlators are explicitly expressed through the Clebsh-Gordan coefficients. We introduce associated (Ooguri-Vafa type) partition functions and describe their $W$-representations. We also discuss their integrability properties, which can be further improved by better adjusting the way the partition function is defined. This is a new avatar of the old unresolved problem with non-Abelian integrability concerning a clever choice of the partition function. This is a part of the…
An integrable deformation of the well-known Neumann-Rosochatius system is studied by considering generalised bosonic spinning solutions on the eta-deformed AdS_5 x S^5 background. For this integrable model we construct a 4x4 Lax representation and a set of integrals of motion that ensures its Liouville integrability. These integrals of motion correspond to the deformed analogues of the Neumann-Rosochatius integrals and generalise the previously found integrals for the eta-deformed Neumann and (AdS_5 x S^5)_eta geodesic systems. Finally, we briefly comment on consistent truncations of this mode…
The subject of this paper is degenerate integrability in Hamiltonian mechanics. It starts with a short survey of degenerate integrability. The first section contains basic notions. It is followed by a number of examples which include the Kepler system, Casimir models, spin Calogero models, spin Ruijsenaars models, and integrable models on symplectic leaves of Poisson Lie groups. The new results are degenerate integrability of relativistic spin Ruijsenaars and Calogero-Moser systems and the duality between them.
We show that the tree dimensional Einstein vacuum field equations with cosmological constant are integrable. Using the $sl(2,R)$ valued soliton connections we obtain the metric of the spacetime in terms of the dynamical variables of the integrable nonlinear partial differential equations.
It has been recently shown that every SCFT living on D3 branes at a toric Calabi-Yau singularity surprisingly also describes a complete integrable system. In this paper we use the Master Space as a bridge between the integrable system and the underlying field theory and we reinterpret the Poisson manifold of the integrable system in term of the geometry of the field theory moduli space.
We show that certain field theory models, although non-integrable according to the usual definition of integrability, share some of the features of integrable theories for certain configurations. Here we discuss our attempt to define a "quasi-integrable theory", through a concrete example: a deformation of the (integrable) sine-Gordon potential. The techniques used to describe and define this concept are both analytical and numerical. The zero-curvature representation and the abelianisation procedure commonly used in integrable field theories are adapted to this new case and we show that they …
Basic notions regarding classical integrable systems are reviewed. An algebraic description of the classical integrable models together with the zero curvature condition description is presented. The classical r-matrix approach for discrete and continuum classical integrable models is introduced. Using this framework the associated classical integrals of motion and the corresponding Lax pair are extracted based on algebraic considerations. Our attention is restricted to classical discrete and continuum integrable systems with periodic boundary conditions. Typical examples of discrete (Toda cha…
Generic non-relativistic theories giving rise to non-integrable string solutions are classified. Our analysis boils down to a simple algebraic condition for the scaling parameters of the metric. Particular cases are the Lifshitz and the anisotropic Lifshitz spacetimes, for which we find that for trivial dilaton dependence the only integrable physical theory is that for z=1. For the hyperscaling violation theories we conclude that the vast majority of theories are non-integrable, while only for a small class of physical theories, where the Fermi surfaces belong to, integrability is not excluded…
We study the interplay between a particular marginal deformation of ${\cal N}=4$ super Yang-Mills theory, the $β$ deformation, and integrability in the holographic setting. Using modern methods of analytic non-integrability of Hamiltonian systems, we find that, when the $β$ parameter takes imaginary values, classical string trajectories on the dual background become non-integrable. We expect the same to be true for generic complex $β$ parameter. By exhibiting the Poincaré sections and phase space trajectories for the generic complex $β$ case, we provide numerical evidence of strong sensitivity…

We apply a notion of quantum complexity, called "Krylov complexity", to study the evolution of systems from integrability to chaos. For this purpose we investigate the integrable XXZ spin chain, enriched with an integrability breaking deformation that allows one to interpolate between integrable and chaotic behavior. K-complexity can act as a probe of the integrable or chaotic nature of the underlying system via its late-time saturation value that is suppressed in the integrable phase and increases as the system is driven to the chaotic phase. We furthermore ascribe the (under-)saturation of t…
We study the notion of strong integrability for classically integrable $λ$-deformed CFTs and coset CFTs. To achieve this goal we employ the Poisson brackets of the spatial Lax matrix which we prove that it assumes the Maillet $r/s$-matrix algebra. As a consequence the system in question are integrable in the strong sense. Furthermore, we show that the derived Maillet $r/s$-matrix algebras can be realized in terms of twist functions, at the poles of which we recover the underlying symmetry algebras.
Application of our algebraic approach to Liouville integrable defects is proposed for the sine-Gordon model. Integrability of the model is ensured by the underlying classical r-matrix algebra. The first local integrals of motion are identified together with the corresponding Lax pairs. Continuity conditions imposed on the time components of the entailed Lax pairs give rise to the sewing conditions on the defect point consistent with Liouville integrability.

Integrable models of statistical mechanics play a prominent role in modern mathematical physics, especially in conformal field theory, knot theory, combinatorics, topology, etc. In this brief review, we discuss a program of constructing integrable lattice spin models with the nearest neighbor interaction using methods inspired by the supersymmetric gauge theory computations, called gauge/YBE correspondence. After a brief introduction to the topic, we review some recent examples of this correspondence and the role of special functions and symmetries. Finally, we discuss future directions of res…
We study two-dimensional integrable field theories from the viewpoint of the four-dimensional Chern-Simons-type gauge theory introduced recently. The integrable field theories are realized as effective theories for the four-dimensional theory coupled with two-dimensional surface defects, and we can systematically compute their Lagrangians and the Lax operators satisfying the zero-curvature condition. Our construction includes many known integrable field theories, such as Gross-Neveu models, principal chiral models with Wess-Zumino terms and symmetric-space coset sigma models. Moreover we obtai…
We introduce a series of articles reviewing various aspects of integrable models relevant to the AdS/CFT correspondence. Topics covered in these reviews are: classical integrability, Yangian symmetry, factorized scattering, the Bethe ansatz, the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz, and integrable structures in (conformal) quantum field theory. In the present article we highlight how these concepts have found application in AdS/CFT, and provide a brief overview of the material contained in this series.
