The general parametrization for spacetimes of spherically symmetric Lorentzian, traversable wormholes in an arbitrary metric theory of gravity is presented. The parametrization is similar in spirit to the post-Newtonian parametrized formalism, but with validity that extends beyond the weak field region and covers the whole space. Our method is based on a continued-fraction expansion in terms of a compactified radial coordinate. Calculations of shadows and quasinormal modes for various examples of parametrization of known wormhole metrics that we have performed show that, for most cases, the parametrization provides excellent accuracy already at the first order. Therefore, only a few parameters are dominant and important for finding potentially observable quantities in a wormhole background. We have also extended the analysis to the regime of slow rotation.
In this work we consider a Generalized Bronnikov-Ellis wormhole and the tideless Morris-Thorne wormhole and we study the propagation of massive scalar fields. We calculate the quasinormal frequencies using the WKB method and the pseudospectal Chebyshev method and we show the presence of an anomalous decay rate for the quasinormal modes in the Generalized Bronnikov-Ellis wormhole. However, such anomalous behaviour is avoided for the fundamental mode in the Morris-Thorne wormhole background.
We study the tideless traversable wormholes in the $f(R)$ gravity metric formalism. First we consider three shape functions of wormholes and study their viabilities and structures. The connection between the $f(R)$ gravity model and wormhole shape function has been studied and the dependency of the $f(R)$ gravity model with the shape function is shown. We also obtain a wormhole solution in the $f(R)$ gravity Starobinsky model surrounded by a cloud of strings. In this case, the wormhole shape function depends on both the Starobinsky model parameter and the cloud of strings parameter. The struct…
In this paper, we investigate the photon sphere, shadow radius and quasinormal modes of a $4$-dimensional black hole with a deficit solid angle and quintessence-like matter. We find that the radii of the photon sphere and shadow decrease with the decreases of the deficit solid angle and density of quintessence-like matter. The quasinormal modes are gotten by the sixth order WKB approximation method and shadow radius, respectively. The values of the real part and imaginary parts of the quasinormal modes increase with the decrease of the values of the deficit solid angle and density of quintesse…
In this paper, we study the shadow of a 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet black hole as photons couple to the Weyl tensor and find that the propagation of light depends on its polarization which leads to the existence of a double shadow. Then, we discuss the effect of the coupling parameter $λ$, the polarization of light and the Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant $α$ on shadow. Further we explore the influence of the Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant $α$ on the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of massless scalar field and investigate the connection between the real part of QNMs in the eikonal limit and the shadow rad…
We compute the shadow cast by a charged Morris-Thorne wormhole when the light source is a star located beyond the mouth which is opposite to the observer. First, we provide an extensive analysis of the geodesic properties of the spacetime, both for null and massive particles. The geometrical properties of this solution are such that independently of the viewing angle, some light rays always reach the observer. Additionally, the structure of the images is preserved among the different values of the charge and scales proportionally to the charge value.
