In this paper, we present a model based on $A_4$ discrete flavor symmetry implementing inverse and type-II seesaw mechanisms to have LHC accessible TeV scale right-handed neutrino mass and texture one-zero in the resulting Majorana neutrino mass matrix, respectively. We investigate neutrino and dark matter sectors of the model. Non-Abelian discrete $A_{4}$ symmetry spontaneously breaks into $Z_{2}$ subgroup and hence provide stable dark matter candidate. To constrain the Yukawa Lagrangian of our model, we imposed $Z'_2$, $Z_3$ and $Z_4$ cyclic symmetries in addition to the $A_4$ flavor symmetry. In this work we used the recently updated data on cosmological parameters from PLANCK 2018. For the dark matter candidate mass around 45 GeV-55 GeV, we obtain the mediator particle mass(right-handed neutrinos) ranging from 138 GeV to 155 GeV. The Yukawa couplings is found to be in the range 0.995-1 to have observed relic abundance of dark matter. We, further, obtain inverse ($X\equiv\frac{F^2n}{z^2}$) and type-II ($X^{'}\equiv f_1 v_{Δ_{1}}$) seesaw contributions to $0νββ$ decay amplitude $|M_{ee}|$, while model being consistent with low energy experimental constraints. In particular, we emphasize that type-II seesaw contribution to $|M_{ee}|$ is large as compared to inverse seesaw contribution for normally ordered(NO) neutrino masses.
In the two zero flavor neutrino mass matrix scheme with nonvanishing Majorana effective mass $M_{ee}$ for the neutrino less double beta decay, four textures are compatible with observed data. We obtain the complete list of the possible textures of four zero Dirac neutrino mass matrix $m_D$ in the seesaw mechanism providing these four flavor neutrino textures. Explicit analytical analysis of $m_D$ turns out to provide the relation of $m_D \propto \sqrt{M_{ee}}$.
We investigate Linear and Inverse seesaw mechanisms with maximal zero textures of the constituent matrices subjected to the assumption of non-zero eigenvalues for the neutrino mass matrix $m_ν$ and charged lepton mass matrix $m_e$. If we restrict to the minimally parametrized non-singular `$m_e$' (i.e., with maximum number of zeros) it gives rise to only 6 possible textures of $m_e$. Non-zero determinant of $m_ν$ dictates six possible textures of the constituent matrices. We ask in this minimalistic approach, what are the phenomenologically allowed maximum zero textures are possible. It turns …
We discuss the linkage between dark matter mass in the one-loop radiative seesaw model and the effective neutrino mass for the neutrino less double beta decay. This linkage, which has been already numerically suggested, is confirmed to be a reasonable relationship by deriving analytical expressions for two zero flavor neutrino mass texture.
A generalized inverse seesaw model, in which the 9x9 neutrino mass matrix has vanishing (1,1) and (1,3) submatrices, is proposed. This is similar to the universal two-zero texture which gives vanishing (1,1) and (1,3) elements of the 3x3 mass matrices in both the charged lepton and neutrino sectors. We consider the Z_6 x Z_6 group to realize such texture zeros. We study this generalized inverse seesaw model systematically and derive the seesaw formula for the 3x3 mass matrix of three active neutrinos. We also analyze the universal two-zero texture in the general case and propose two ansatze to…
In an attempt to find minimal scenarios we study the implications of Dirac and Majorana mass matrices with texture zeros within the type I seesaw mechanism. For the Dirac mass matrices we consider 5 zero textures which we show to be the most minimal form that can successfully account for low energy phenomenology if the Majorana mass matrices are chosen minimal as well. For those, we consider both diagonal and even more minimal non-diagonal forms. The latter can be motivated e.g. by simple U(1) flavour symmetries and have two degenerate eigenvalues. We classify the allowed textures and discuss …
We evaluate the predictive power of the neutrino mass matrices arising from seesaw mechanism subjected to texture zero and satisfying a cyclic permutation invariant. We found that only two from eight possible patterns of the neutrino mass matrices are invariant under a cyclic permutation. The two resulted neutrino mass matrices which are invariant under a cyclic permutation can be used qualitatively to explain the neutrino mixing phenomena for solar neutrino and to derive the mixing angle that agress with the experimental data.
The seesaw enhancement of the bi-large mixings are discussed for the two-zero textures of the neutrino mass matrix. There are no large mixings in both Dirac neutrino mass matrix $m_D$ and right-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrix $M_R$, however, the bi-large mixing is realized via the seesaw mechanism. We present twelve sets of $m_D$ and $M_R$ for the seesaw enhancement and discuss the related phenomena, the $μ\to e+γ$ process and the leptogenesis. The decay rate of $μ\to e+γ$ is enough suppressed due to zeros in the Dirac neutrino mass matrix. Six $m_D$ lead to the lepton asymmetry, which ca…
We present general conditions on Dirac and Majorana mass terms under which a type-I seesaw mechanism can lead to three exactly massless neutrinos at the tree level. We depict several examples where the conditions are satisfied and relate some of them to an underlying U(1) symmetry. We show that higher order corrections may generate the small observed masses and this may be achieved even when the heavy Majorana neutrinos are at the electroweak scale or a little higher.
In the 5D theory in which only 3 generation right-handed neutrinos are in the bulk, the neutrino flavor mixings and the mass spectrum can be constructed through the seesaw mechanism. The 5D seesaw is easily calculated just by a replacement of the Majorana mass eigenvalues, M_i, by 2 M_*tan(h)[πRM_i] (M_*: 5D Planck scale, R: compactification radius). The 5D features appear when the bulk mass, which induces the 4D Majorana mass, is the same as the compactification scale or larger than it. Depending on the type of bulk mass, the seesaw scales of the 3 generations are strongly split (the tan-func…
Following the Occam's razor principle, we explore the particular textures (featuring texture zeros and equalities) of the Dirac neutrino mass matrix in the minimal seesaw model (where only two right-handed neutrinos $N^{}_1$ and $N^{}_2$ are responsible for the generation of the light neutrino masses), in light of current neutrino experimental results and leptogenesis. The study will be performed for two particular patterns of the Majorana mass matrix $M^{}_{\rm R}$ for $N^{}_1$ and $N^{}_2$: (A) $M^{}_{\rm R}$ being diagonal $ \left( \begin{array}{cc} M^{}_1 & 0 \cr 0 & M^{}_2 \cr \end{array}…
\noindent We revisit the \textit{minimal seesaw model}, i.e., the type-I seesaw mechanism involving only two right-handed neutrinos. % This model represents an important minimal benchmark scenario for future experimental updates on neutrino oscillations. % It features four real parameters that cannot be fixed by the current data: two $CP$-violating phases, $δ$ and $σ$, as well as one complex parameter, $z$, that is experimentally inaccessible at low energies. % The parameter $z$ controls the structure of the neutrino Yukawa matrix at high energies, which is why it may be regarded as a label or…
We study the impact of maximal zeros of the Dirac mass matrix on neutrino phenomenology and dark matter within the framework of an inverse seesaw ISS $(2,3)$. ISS $(2,3)$ is obtained by adding two right handed neutrinos and three gauge singlets sterile fermions to the standard model leading to an extra sterile state in the keV range. The model is more predictive because of the presence of fewer numbers of right handed neutrinos than the conventional inverse seesaw. Moreover, texture zeros in the structures of the mass matrices involved in the model can reduce the free parameters. We extensivel…
In the framework of the two right-handed neutrino seesaw model, we consider maximally-restrictive texture-zero patterns for the lepton Yukawa coupling and mass matrices, together with the existence of a remnant CP symmetry. Under these premisses, we find that several textures are compatible with the most recent data coming from neutrino oscillation and neutrinoless double beta decay experiments. It is shown that the number of allowed texture zeros depends on the type of heavy right-handed neutrino mass spectrum. Namely, at most one (two)-zero patterns are allowed in the Dirac Yukawa coupling m…
We study the prediction of maximal zeros of the Dirac mass matrix on neutrino phenomenology and baryon asymmetry of the universe (BAU) within the framework of an inverse seesaw ISS $(2,3)$. We try to find the origin of the allowed two zero textures of the Dirac mass matrix from $S_{4}$ flavor symmetry. ISS $(2,3)$ model contains two pairs of quasi-Dirac particles and one sterile state in the keV scale along with three active neutrinos. The decays of the quasi-Dirac pairs create lepton asymmetry that can be converted to baryon asymmetry of the universe by the sphaleron process. Thus, BAU can be…
In the seesaw framework, in the basis of $M^{}_{\rm R}$ being diagonal, we explore the simplified textures of $M^{}_{\rm D}$ that can naturally yield the trimaximal neutrino mixings and their consequences for the neutrino parameters and leptogenesis. We first formulate the generic textures of $M^{}_{\rm D}$ that can naturally yield the trimaximal mixings and then examine if their parameters can be further reduced. Our analysis is restricted to the simple but instructive scenario that there is only one phase parameter $ϕ$ responsible for both the CP violating effects at low energies and leptoge…
We investigate, within the Type I seesaw framework, the physical implications of zero textures in the Yukawa couplings which generate the neutrino Dirac mass matrix $m_D$. It is shown that four is the maximal number of texture zeroes compatible with the observed leptonic mixing and the assumption that no neutrino mass vanishes. We classify all allowed four-zero textures of $m_D$ into two categories with three classes each. We show that the different classes, in general, admit CP violation both at low and high energies. We further present the constraints obtained for low energy physics in each …
We investigate neutrino mass matrix phenomenology involving scaling ansatz and texture zeros adhering inverse seesaw mechanism. It is seen that four is the maximum number of zeros in $m_D$ and $μ$ to obtain viable phenomenology. Depending upon the generic nature of the effective neutrino mass matrices we classify all the emerged matrices in four categories. One of them is ruled out phenomenologically due to inappropriate value of reactor mixing angle after breaking of the scaling ansatz. The mass ordering is inverted in all cases. One of the distinguishable feature of all these categories is t…
In this paper we present a scenario where the stability of dark matter and the phenomenology of neutrinos are related by the spontaneous breaking of a non-Abelian flavor symmetry. In this scenario the breaking is done at the seesaw scale, in such a way that what remains of the flavor symmetry is a Z2 symmetry, which stabilizes the dark matter. We have proposed two models based on this idea, for which we have calculated their neutrino mass matrices achieving two-zero texture in both cases. Accordingly, we have updated this two-zero texture phenomenology finding an interesting correlation betwee…
In the context of the Type I seesaw mechanism, we carry out a systematic study of the constraints that result from zeros in both the Dirac and right-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrices. We find that most constraints can be expressed in the standard form with one or two element/cofactor zeros alone, while there are 9 classes of nonstandard constraints. We show that all the constraints are stable under one-loop renormalization group running from the lightest right-handed neutrino mass scale to the electroweak scale. We study the predictions of the nonstandard constraints for the lightest neut…
In the context of minimal seesaw framework, we study the implications of Dirac and Majorana mass matrices in which two rigid properties coexist, namely, equalities among mass matrix elements and texture zeros. In the first part of the study, we discuss general possibilities of the Dirac and Majorana mass matrices for neutrinos with such hybrid structures. We then classify the mass matrices into realistic textures which are compatible with global neutrino oscillation data and unrealistic ones which do not comply with the data. Among the large number of general possibilities, we find that only 6…
We present predictions for CP violating phases of the Type-I seesaw model with four-zero textures on the Dirac mass matrix. For the four-zero textures, the effective low energy Majorana mass matrix is parametrized with seven parameters. They are three mass-dimensional parameters, two angles and two CP violating sources. The number of these parameters is less than that of the general description of the Majorana mass matrix with three neutrino masses, three mixing angles and three CP violating phases. In particular, only two independent CP violating sources give rise to three CP violating phases…
We classify the textures of the Dirac and the right-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrices, $M_D$ and $M_R$, which can satisfy the so-called ``Strong Scaling Ansatz'' (SSA) within the framework of the seesaw mechanism $M_ν=-M_D^T M_R^{-1} M_D$. We assume that the Dirac neutrino mass matrix has some texture zeros and examine which elements should be zero in order to satisfy the SSA, by taking into account all possible textures for $M_R$. We find that the resulting Dirac neutrino mass matrices have rank 2 as well as the rank of the effective neutrino mass matrix $M_ν$, or rank 1, depending only …
Motivated by the recent resurrection of the evidence for an eV scale sterile neutrino from the MiniBooNE experiment, we revisit one of the most minimal seesaw model known as the minimal extended seesaw that gives rise to a $3+1$ light neutrino mass matrix. We consider the presence of $A_4$ flavour symmetry which plays a non-trivial role in generating the structure of the neutrino mass matrix. Considering a diagonal charged lepton mass matrix and generic vacuum alignments of $A_4$ triplet flavons, we classify the resulting mass matrices based on their textures. Keeping aside the disallowed text…
In the context of Standard Model (SM) extensions, the seesaw mechanism provides the most natural explanation for the smallness of neutrino masses. In this work we consider the most economical type-I seesaw realization in which two right-handed neutrinos are added to the SM field content. For the sake of predictability, we impose the maximum number of texture zeros in the lepton Yukawa and mass matrices. All possible patterns are analyzed in the light of the most recent neutrino oscillation data, and predictions for leptonic CP violation are presented. We conclude that, in the charged-lepton ma…
We evaluate the predictive power of the neutrino mass matrices arising from seesaw mechanism with heavy Majorana mass matrices subject to texture zero and satisfy a cyclic permutation invariant form to the solar neutrino mixing phenomena. From eight possible patterns of heavy Majorana neutrino mass matrix, we found that there is no heavy Majorana neutrino mass matrix to be invariant in form under a cyclic permutation. But, by imposing an additional assumption that at least one of the 2x2 sub-matrices of heavy Majorana neutrino mass matrix inverse having zero determinant, we found that only two…
In a recent paper, we pointed out that mixing of the light neutrinos with heavy gauge singlet states could reconcile the Z-pole data from e+e- colliders and the nu_mu (anti-nu_mu) scattering data from the NuTeV experiment at Fermilab. We further noted that the mixing angle required to fit the data is much larger than what would be expected from the conventional seesaw mechanism. In this paper, we show how such mixings can be arranged by a judicious choice of the neutrino mass texture. We also argue that by invoking the unification of the Dirac mass matrix for the up-type quarks and the neutrin…
In this paper, we search for conditions that the mass matrix of light neutrinos $m_ν$ is not a result of large cancellations for the type-I seesaw mechanism with four-zero texture. For the Yukawa matrix of neutrinos $Y_ν$ and heavy Majorana mass matrix $M_{R}$, these conditions are written as $(Y_ν)_{i2} \propto (m_ν)_{i2} \, \Rightarrow \, (Y_ν)_{i2} \propto (M_{R})_{i2}$. We call them {\it alignment} conditions because they align the certain rows or columns of the three neutrino mass matrices. If these conditions do not hold, the large mixing in $m_ν$ is a result of fine-tuning due to the ca…
After developing a general criterion for deciding which neutrino mass models belong to the category of inverse seesaw models, we apply it to obtain the Dirac analogue of the canonical Majorana inverse seesaw model. We then generalize the inverse seesaw model and obtain a class of inverse seesaw mechanisms both for Majorana and Dirac neutrinos. We further show that many of the models have double or multiple suppressions coming from tiny symmetry breaking "$μ$-terms". These models can be tested both in colliders and with the observation of lepton flavour violating processes.
We investigate scaling ansatz with texture zeros within the framework of linear seesaw mechanism. In this variant of seesaw mechanism a simplified expression of effective neutrino mass matrix $m_ν$ containing two Dirac type matrices ($m_D$ and $m_{DS}$) and one Majorana type matrix ($m_{RS}$) is obtained by virtue of neglecting the global $U(1)_L$ symmetry breaking term in the mass term of the Lagrangian. Along with the charged lepton mass matrix, the matrix $m_{RS}$ too, is chosen in a diagonal basis whereas a scaling relation is incorporated in $m_D$ and $m_{DS}$ with different scale factors…
A variation of the original 2006 radiative seesaw model of neutrino mass through dark matter is shown to realize the notion of inverse seesaw naturally. The dark-matter candidate here is the lightest of three real singlet scalars which may also carry flavor.
We systematically analyze the Dirac and the Majorana mass matrices in seesaw models with two heavy right-handed neutrinos. We perform thorough classification of the vanishing matrix elements which are compatible with the results from the current neutrino oscillation experiments. We include the possibility of a non-diagonal Majorana mass matrix which leads to new solutions viable with data. In a basis where the Majorana mass matrix is diagonal, these solutions imply a Dirac matrix with specific relationships amongst its elements. We find that at the level of total 4 zeros together in the Dirac …
The inverse neutrino seesaw, characterised by only one source of lepton number violation at an ultralight $O$(keV) scale and observable new phenomena at TeV energies accessible to the LHC, is considered. Maximal zero textures of the $3\times 3$ lighter and heavier Dirac mass matrices of neutral leptons, appearing in the Lagarangian for such an inverse seesaw, are studied within the framework of $μτ$ symmetry in a specified weak basis. That symmetry ensures the identity of the positions of maximal zeros of the heavy neutrino mass matrix and its inverse. It then suffices to study the maximal zer…
We construct a model realizing the inverse seesaw mechanism. The model has two types of gauge singlet fermions in addition to right-handed neutrinos. A required Majorana mass scale (keV scale) for generating the light active neutrino mass in the conventional inverse seesaw can be naturally explained by a "seesaw" mechanism between the two singlet fermions in our model. We find that our model can decrease the magnitude of hierarchy among the mass parameters by $\mathcal{O}(10^4)$ from that in the conventional inverse seesaw model. We also show that a successful resonant leptogenesis occurs for …
In the inverse seesaw scenario, several fermion singlets have a small Majorana mass term. We show such Majorana masses can be suppressed by some heavy fermion and/or Higgs singlets after a global symmetry is spontaneously broken. These interactions can also accommodate a leptogenesis mechanism to explain the cosmic baryon asymmetry.
The seesaw mechanism can be generalized to a Type-III variant and a quintuplet variant. We present two models that provide analogous generalizations of the inverse seesaw mechanism. The first model employs a fermion triplet F ~ (1,3,0) and requires no additional multiplets or parameters relative to the standard inverse seesaw. We argue that, from a bottom-up perspective, there appears to be no particular reason to preference the usual scenario over this variant. The second model employs a fermion quintuplet F ~ (1,5,0) and requires an additional scalar S ~ (1,4,1). We also show that minimal in…
Differently from the canonical seesaw mechanism, which is grounded in grand unified theories, the inverse seesaw mechanism lacks a special framework that realizes it naturally. In this work we advocate that the 3-3-1 model with right-handed neutrinos has such an appropriate framework to accommodate the inverse seesaw mechanism. We also provide an explanation for the smallness of the $μ$ parameter and estimate the branching ratio for the rare lepton flavor violation process $μ\rightarrow eγ$.
We present a minimal inverse seesaw mechanism by resorting to a $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge symmetry. In order to cancel the gauge anomalies, we introduce seven neutral fermions among which four participate in the inverse seesaw to induce two nonzero neutrino mass eigenvalues, two forms a stable Dirac fermion to become a dark matter, while the last one keeps massless but decouples early. In this inverse seesaw, two neutral fermions are the usual right-handed neutrinos while the other two have a small Majorana mass term. An additional seesaw mechanism for generating these small Majorana masses also expl…
We review the TeV scale $B-L$ extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (BLSSM) where an inverse seesaw mechanism of light neutrino mass generation is naturally implemented and concentrate on its hallmark manifestations at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
The inverse seesaw mechanism of neutrino mass, i.e. m_nu = (m_D^2/m_N^2)epsilon_L where epsilon_L is small, is discussed in the context of the U(1)_Sigma model. This is a gauge extension of the Standard Model of particle interactions with lepton triplets (Sigma^+,Sigma^),Sigma^-) as (Type III) seesaw anchors for obtaining small Majorana neutrino masses.
The Inverse Seesaw scenario relates the smallness of the neutrino masses to a small $B-L$ breaking parameter. We investigate a possible dynamical generation of the Inverse Seesaw neutrino mass mechanism from the spontaneous breaking of a gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$. To obtain an anomaly free theory we need to introduce additional fermions which exhibit an interesting phenomenology. Additionally, we predict a $Z'$ boson associated to the broken $B-L$ which preferentially interacts with the dark sector formed by the extra fermions making it particularly elusive.
We discuss leptogenesis within a TeV-scale inverse seesaw model for neutrino masses where the seesaw structure is guaranteed by an SO(10) symmetry. Contrary to the TeV-scale type-I gauged seesaw, the constraints imposed by successful leptogenesis in these models are rather weak and allow for the extra gauge bosons W_R and Z' to be in the LHC accessible range. The key differences in the inverse seesaw compared to the type I case are: (i) decay and inverse decay rates larger than the scatterings involving extra gauge bosons due to the large Yukawa couplings and (ii) the suppression of the washou…
We study a radiative inverse seesaw model with local B-L symmetry, in which we extend the neutrino mass structure that is generated through a kind of inverse seesaw framework to the more generic one than our previous work. We focus on a real part of bosonic particle as a dark matter and investigate the features in O(1-80) GeV mass range, reported by the experiments such as CoGeNT and XENON (2012).
The advent of the LHC, and the proposal of building future colliders as the ILC, both programmed to explore new physics at the TeV scale, justifies the recent interest in studying all kind of seesaw mechanisms whose signature lies on such energy scale. The natural candidate for this kind of seesaw mechanism is the inverse one. The conventional inverse seesaw mechanism is implemented in an arrangement involving six new heavy neutrinos in addition to the three standard ones. In this paper we develop the inverse seesaw mechanism based on Higgs triplet model and probe its signature at the LHC and …
If the canonical seesaw mechanism alone is responsible for neutrino mass, i.e. m_nu = -m_D^2/m_N, it can neither be proved nor disproved at the TeV energy scale. A new verifiable mechanism of neutrino mass is proposed, using the "inverse" seesaw, with new physics at the TeV scale, such that m_nu = m_D^2 epsilon_L/m_N^2, where epsilon_L is a two-loop effect. Dark-matter candidates also appear naturally.
We investigate the stability of Higgs potential in inverse seesaw models. We derive the full two-loop RGEs of the relevant parameters, such as the quartic Higgs self-coupling, taking thresholds into account. We find that for relatively large Yukawa couplings the Higgs quartic self-coupling goes negative well below the Standard Model instability scale $\sim 10^{10}$ GeV. We show, however, that the ``dynamical'' inverse seesaw with spontaneous lepton number violation can lead to a completely consistent and stable Higgs vacuum up to the Planck scale.
With the recent observation of nonzero θ_{13}, five neutrino oscillation parameters are now known. By imposing four zeros in the Yukawa coupling matrix of the type I seesaw model, the number of parameters in the neutrino mass matrix is reduced to seven, and we are able to make predictions for the lightest neutrino mass, Dirac CP phase, and neutrinoless double beta decay. Four texture zeros in the Yukawa coupling matrix is equivalent to either a single texture zero or a single cofactor zero for an off-diagonal element of the light neutrino mass matrix. We find strong similarities between single…
We present a novel framework within the conformal inverse seesaw scheme allowing large lepton number violation while the neutrino mass formula is still governed by the low-scale inverse seesaw mechanism. This model includes new contributions to rare low-energy lepton number violating processes like neutrinoless double beta decay. We find that the lifetime for this rare process due to heavy sterile neutrinos can saturate current experimental limits. The characteristic collider signature of the present conformal inverse seesaw scheme includes, same-sign dilepton plus two jets and same-sign dilep…
We discuss an inverse seesaw model based on right-handed fermion specific $U(1)$ gauge symmetry and $A_4$-modular symmetry. These symmetries forbid unnecessary terms and restrict structures of Yukawa interactions which are relevant to inverse seesaw mechanism. Then we can obtain some predictions in neutrino sector such as Dirac-CP phase and sum of neutrino mass, which are shown by our numerical analysis. Besides the relation among masses of heavy pseudo-Dirac neutrino can be obtained since it is also restricted by the modular symmetry. We also discuss implications to lepton flavor violation an…
We consider tri-bimaximal lepton mixing within low-scale seesaw schemes where light neutrino masses arise from TeV scale physics, potentially accessible at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Two examples are considered, based on the A4 flavor symmetry realized within the inverse or the linear seesaw mechanisms. Both are highly predictive so that in both the light neutrino sector effectively depends only on three mass parameters and one Majorana phase, with no CP violation in neutrino oscillations. We find that the linear seesaw leads to a lower bound for neutrinoless double beta decay while the …
We discuss a supersymmetric inverse seesaw model in which lepton flavour violating decays can be enhanced either by flavour violating slepton contributions or by the non-unitarity of the charged current mixing matrix. As an example we calculate Br(mu -> e gamma) taking into account both heavy lepton exchange as well as supersymmetric diagrams in a minimal supergravity framework. We find that the for the same parameters the rate can be enhanced with respect to seesaw model expectations, with or without supersymmetry.
We propose a minimal predictive inverse seesaw model based on two right-handed neutrinos and two additional singlets, leading to the same low energy neutrino mass matrix as in the Littlest Seesaw (LS) (type I) model. In order to implement such a Littlest Inverse Seesaw (LIS) model, we have used an $S_{4}$ family symmetry, together with other various symmetries, flavons and driving fields. The resulting LIS model leads to an excellent fit to the low energy neutrino parameters, including the prediction of a normal neutrino mass ordering, exactly as in the usual LS model. However, unlike the LS m…
Specific class of textures for the Dirac and Majorana mass matrices in the seesaw model leading to a pair of almost degenerate neutrinos is discussed. These textures can be obtained by imposing a horizontal $U(1)$ symmetry. A specific model is discussed in which: (1) All three neutrino masses are similar in magnitude and could lie around eV providing hot component of the dark matter in the universe. (2) Two of these are highly degenerate and their ${\hbox{(mass)}}^2$ difference could solve the solar neutrino problem through large angle MSW solution. (3) The electron neutrino mass may be observ…
