After developing a general criterion for deciding which neutrino mass models belong to the category of inverse seesaw models, we apply it to obtain the Dirac analogue of the canonical Majorana inverse seesaw model. We then generalize the inverse seesaw model and obtain a class of inverse seesaw mechanisms both for Majorana and Dirac neutrinos. We further show that many of the models have double or multiple suppressions coming from tiny symmetry breaking "$μ$-terms". These models can be tested both in colliders and with the observation of lepton flavour violating processes.
The radiative seesaw mechanism proposed recently is minimally extended to include supersymmetry in a specific model. Relevant related issues such as leptogenesis and dark matter are discussed.
We reformulate the canonical seesaw mechanism in the case that the electroweak gauge symmetry is unbroken, and show that it can "formally" work and allow us to derive an exact seesaw formula for the light and heavy Majorana neutrinos. Two important features of TeV-scale radiative seesaw models, in which tiny neutrino masses are generated at the quantum level, are an extended scalar (Higgs) sector and the Majorana nature. We study phenomenological aspects of these models at the ILC. It is found that the Majorana nature of the models can be tested directly via the electron-positron and electron-electron collision experiments.
If the mixing angles in each of the seesaw sectors are all small, and the neutrino masses are hierarchical, we study the conditions for large neutrino mixing using triangular matrices. In particular, the implication of the neutrino oscillation data for the mass hierarchy in the heavy Majorana sector is examined, and the heavy Majorana scales are shown to depend sensitively on the solar mixing angle.
If it can be ascertained experimentally that the 3X3 Majorana neutrino mass matrix M_nu has vanishing determinants for one or more of its 2X2 submatrices, it may be interpreted as supporting evidence for the theoretically well-known canonical seesaw mechanism. I show how these two things are connected and offer a realistic M_nu with two zero subdeterminants as an example.
A previous short analysis of the seesaw mechanism, based on quark-lepton symmetry, experimental data and hierarchical neutrino spectrum, is enlarged to include small but not zero U_{e3}, inverted mass hierarchy, and the qualitative effect of Majorana phases. The structure of the heavy neutrino mass matrix obtained in several cases is discussed. We find two leading forms for this matrix. One is diagonal and stands at the unification scale or above. The other is off-diagonal and stands at the intermediate scale.
As an extension of our previous work in the seesaw mechanism, we analyze the influence of $U_{e3}$ on the properties (masses and mixing) of the RH Majorana neutrinos in three flavors. The quasidegenerate light neutrinos case is also considered. Assuming the hierarchical Dirac neutrino masses, we find the heavy Majorana neutrino mass spectrum is either hierarchical or partial degenerate if $θ_{23}^ν$ is large. A collider probe of the radiative seesaw models are considered. Two key ingredients of these models, the extended Higgs sector and the source of the Majorana mass, although these details differ model by model, would be studied at the TeV-scale electron-positron and electron-electron colliders. The searches and mass determinations in the inert doublet model, which is the extended Higgs sector of the Ma model, are summarized as an example.

We examine the renormalization group evolution (RGE) for different mixing scenarios in the presence of seesaw threshold effects from high energy scale (GUT) to the low electroweak (EW) scale in the Standard Model (SM) and Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). We consider four mixing scenarios namely Tri-Bimaximal Mixing, Bimaximal Mixing, Hexagonal Mixing and Golden Ratio Mixing which come from different flavor symmetries at the GUT scale. Neutrino mass matrix via a seesaw mechanism is constructed by assuming that the underlying symmetry of both heavy Majorana and Dirac mass matrices is the discrete subgroup $Δ(27)$ symmetry of SU(3). In the inverse seesaw scenario, several fermion singlets have a small Majorana mass term. We show such Majorana masses can be suppressed by some heavy fermion and/or Higgs singlets after a global symmetry is spontaneously broken. These interactions can also accommodate a leptogenesis mechanism to explain the cosmic baryon asymmetry.

The observation of neutrino oscillations requires new physics beyond the standard model (SM). A SM-like gauge theory with p lepton families can be extended by introducing q heavy right-handed Majorana neutrinos but preserving its SU(2)_L x U(1)_Y gauge symmetry. We propose a simple but suggestive seesaw model with two phenomenological conjectures: three heavy (right-handed) Majorana neutrinos are degenerate in mass in the symmetry limit and three light Majorana neutrinos have the tri-bimaximal mixing pattern $V^{}_0$. The seesaw mechanism provides a simple explanation for the lightness of the known neutrinos. Under the standard assumption of a weak scale Dirac mass and a heavy sterile Majorana scale the neutrino mass is naturally suppressed below the weak scale. We present predictions for CP violating phases of the Type-I seesaw model with four-zero textures on the Dirac mass matrix. In this paper we present a scenario where the stability of dark matter and the phenomenology of neutrinos are related by the spontaneous breaking of a non-Abelian flavor symmetry. In this scenario the breaking is done at the seesaw scale, in such a way that what remains of the flavor symmetry is a Z2 symmetry, which stabilizes the dark matter. We study a minimal one-loop radiative mechanism for generating small Majorana neutrino masses in inverse seesaw extensions of the Standard Model with two singlet fermions per family. The new feature of this radiative mechanism is that the one-loop induced left-handed neutrino mass matrix is directly proportional to the Majorana mass matrix of the right-handed neutrinos. This is a very economical scenario without necessitating the existence of non-standard scalar or gauge fields.

We present general conditions on Dirac and Majorana mass terms under which a type-I seesaw mechanism can lead to three exactly massless neutrinos at the tree level. We depict several examples where the conditions are satisfied and relate some of them to an underlying U(1) symmetry. We show that higher order corrections may generate the small observed masses and this may be achieved even when the heavy Majorana neutrinos are at the electroweak scale or a little higher.
A TeV-scale Higgs doublet with a small mixing to the standard model Higgs doublet can have the sizable Yukawa couplings to several right-handed neutrinos and the standard model lepton doublets. This provides a testable Dirac neutrino mass generation. We further consider a seesaw mechanism involving a $U(1)_{B-L}^{}$ gauge symmetry, which predicts the existence of two right-handed neutrinos and a stable Dirac fermionic dark matter, to simultaneously explain the small mixing between the two Higgs doublets and the generation of the cosmic baryon asymmetry.
We give a general analysis of neutrino mixing in the seesaw mechanism with three flavors. Assuming that the Dirac and u-quark mass matrices are similar, we establish simple relations between the neutrino parameters and individual Majorana masses. They are shown to depend rather strongly on the physical neutrino mixing angles. We calculate explicitly the implied Majorana mass hierarchies for parameter sets corresponding to different solutions to the solar neutrino problem.
So far we have not been able to establish that, as theoretically expected, neutrinos are their own anti-particles. Here we propose a dynamical way to account for the Dirac nature of neutrinos and the smallness of their mass in terms of a new variant of the seesaw paradigm in which the energy scale of neutrino mass generation could be accessible to the current LHC experiments.
We propose a Standard Model extension with underlying A4 flavour symmetry where small Dirac neutrino masses arise from a Type-II seesaw mechanism. The model predicts the "golden" flavour-dependent bottom-tau mass relation, requires an inverted neutrino mass ordering and non-maximal atmospheric mixing angle. The idea that the Majorana neutrino should be identified as a Bogoliubov quasiparticle is applied to the seesaw mechanism for the three generations of neutrinos in the Standard Model. In the type-II seesaw mechanism, the neutrino mass generation could be tested experimentally if the Higgs triplet is at the TeV scale and has a small cubic coupling to the standard model Higgs doublet. We show such small triplet-doublet coupling and the cosmic baryon asymmetry can be simultaneously induced by an additional seesaw mechanism involving a $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge symmetry. Meanwhile, three neutral fermions for cancelling the gauge anomalies can form a stable Dirac fermionic dark matter besides an acceptably massless fermion.
We propose two different seesaw models namely, type I and inverse seesaw to realise light Dirac neutrinos within the framework of $A_4$ discrete flavour symmetry. The Randall-Sundrum model with gauge fields and fermions in the bulk has several attractive features including the gauge coupling unification, a candidate for the dark matter, and an explanation for the hierarchical Yukawa couplings. In this paper, we point out that the 1st Kaluza-Klein modes of right-handed neutrinos may be produced at colliders, for both Dirac and Majorana neutrino cases. Furthermore, we can see whether the neutrino masses are Dirac type or Majorana type from the mass spectrum of KK particles.
In the context of $SO(10) \to SU(5) \times U(1)_χ$, it is shown how seesaw Dirac neutrinos may be obtained. In this framework, $U(1)$ lepton number is conserved, with which self-interaction dark matter with a light scalar dilepton mediator may be implemented. In addition, $U(1)$ baryon number may be broken to $(-1)^{3B}$, thereby generating a baryon asymmetry of the Universe. The axionic solution to the strong $CP$ problem may also be incorporated.
We examine minimal seesaw mechanism in which the masses of light neutrinos are described with tri/bi-maximal mixing in the basis where the charged-lepton Yukawa matrix and heavy Majorana neutrino mass matrix are diagonal. We propose novel tree level seesaw mechanism with TeV-scale vectorlike Dirac mediators that produce Majorana masses of the known neutrinos. The gauge quantum number assignment to the Dirac mediators allows them to belong to a weak triplet and a five-plet of nonzero hypercharge. The latter leads to new seesaw formula m_ν~ v^6/M^5, so that the empirical masses m_ν~ 10^{-1} eV can be achieved by M ~ TeV new states. The three electroweak doublet neutrinos $ν_{e,μ,τ}$ of the Standard Model may acquire small seesaw masses, using either three Majorana fermion singlets $N$ or three Majorana fermion triplets $(Σ^+,Σ^0,Σ^-)$. It is well-known that the former accommodates the U(1) gauge symmetry $B-L$. It has also been shown some years ago that the latter supports a new $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry. Here we study two variations of this $U(1)_X$, one for two $N$ and one $Σ$, the other for one $N$ and two $Σ$. Phenomenological consequences are discussed.
In this paper we consider possible mechanisms to generate small Majorana neutrino masses for active neutrinos in the scenario of gauge-Higgs unification, a candidate for physics beyond the standard model. We review the computation of the one-loop radiative corrections from the neutrino/ sneutrino sector to the lightest Higgs boson mass, Mh, within the context of the so-called MSSM-seesaw scenario. This model introduces right handed neutrinos and their supersymmetric partners, the sneutrinos, including Majorana mass terms. We find negative and sizeable corrections to Mh, up to -5 GeV for a large Majorana scale, 10^{13}-10^{15} GeV, and for the lightest neutrino mass in a range 0.1-1 eV. TeV-scale seesaw mechanisms are interesting due to their potential testability at existing collider experiments. Herein we propose an E$_6$-inspired model allowing a TeV-scale pseudo-Dirac singlet neutrino seesaw mechanism with naturally sizeable Yukawa couplings of $\mathcal{O}(10^{-2})$. The model also contains new U(1) gauge interactions (and associated $Z^\prime$ bosons with which the singlet neutrinos can be produced at colliders), typically long-lived colour triplet fermions, SU(2) doublet fermions, and a complex scalar - potentially all at the TeV-scale. Many studies have been made on extensions of the standard model with $B-L$ gauge symmetry. The addition of three singlet (right-handed) neutrinos renders it anomaly-free. It has always been assumed that the spontaneous breaking of $B-L$ is accomplished by a singlet scalar field carrying two units of $B-L$ charge. This results in a very natural implementation of the Majorana seesaw mechanism for neutrinos. The standard model left-handed neutrinos and several right-handed neutrinos can obtain a tiny Dirac mass matrix through their mixings with relatively heavy Dirac fermions. In this Dirac seesaw scenario, the mixings involving the left-handed neutrinos can be allowed much larger than those involving the right-handed neutrinos. This undemocratic parameter choice is attractive to phenomenology.
