We consider the capacity of entanglement in models related with the gravitational phase transitions. The capacity is labeled by the replica parameter which plays a similar role to the inverse temperature in thermodynamics. In the end of the world brane model of a radiating black hole the capacity has a peak around the Page time indicating the phase transition between replica wormhole geometries of different types of topology. Similarly, in a moving mirror model describing Hawking radiation the capacity typically shows a discontinuity when the dominant saddle switches between two phases, which can be seen as a formation of island regions. In either case we find the capacity can be an invaluable diagnostic for a black hole evaporation process.
The presence of noncyclic geometric invariant is revealed in all the phenomena where particle generation from vacuum or vacuum condensates appear. Aharonov--Anandan invariants then can help to study such systems and can represent a new tool to be used in order to provide laboratory evidence of phenomena particulary hard to be detected, such as Hawking and Unruh effects and some features of quantum field theory in curved space simulated by some graphene morphologies. It is finally suggested that a very precise quantum thermometer can be built by exploiting geometric invariants properties.
The Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model describes electrons with random and all-to-all interactions, and realizes a many-body state without quasiparticle excitations, and a non-vanishing extensive entropy $S_0$ in the zero temperature limit. Its low energy theory coincides the low energy theory of the near-extremal charged black holes with Bekenstein-Hawking entropy $S_0$. Several mesoscopic experimental configurations realizing SYK quantum dynamics over a significant intermediate temperature scale have been proposed. We investigate quantum thermoelectric transport in such configurations, and descri…
Probing the thermodynamic properties of the Hawking-Page phase transition of asymptotically-flat black holes in Rényi statistics. We reveal the evidence for the persisting of the dual universal formula associated with the Hawking-Page (HP) and minimum black hole thermodynamical transition points. Our study unveils the universal properties of the black holes in different statistics, in particular beyond the Gibbs-Boltzmann formalism, and motivates a further promising bridge between the nonextensivity Rényi parameter λ and the cosmological constant ? . Besides, we discover that universal ratios …
We obtain an exact spherically symmetric and magnetically charged black hole solution in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity coupled with nonlinear electrodynamics with the Lagrangian ${\cal L}_{NED} = -{\cal F}/(1+\sqrt{2\midβ{\cal F}\mid})$ (${\cal F}$ is the field strength invariant). The thermodynamics of the black hole is studied within our model. We calculate the Hawking temperature and the heat capacity of the black hole. The phase transitions occur in the point where the Hawking temperature possesses an extremum and the heat capacity diverges. It was shown that black holes are thermodynam…
We propose that extra dimensions might be detected with higher dimensional analogues of black holes. The usual 4-dimensional acoustic(sonic)black hole metric is extended to arbitrary dimensions. The absorption cross-section of Hawking radiation on the brane and in the bulk are calculated in the semiclassical approximation.
Motivated by the idea of alpha-vacua in Schwarzschild spacetime, we studied the deformed spectrum of Hawking radiation. Such a deformation would leave signatures on the small black hole evaporation in LHC because their vacuum deviates from the Unruh state.
In this paper we consider a BTZ black hole with minimum length which has been introduced through the probability density of the ground state of the hydrogen atom. We analyzed the effect of the minimum length by calculating the thermodynamic quantities such as temperature and entropy and verified the stability of the black hole by computing the specific heat capacity.
We consider $n$ free Majorana fermions probing a SYK system comprising of $N$ Majorana fermions. We solve the full system in deep infrared and in large $N$ (as well as large $n$) limit. The essential physics of the SYK system is not affected by the probe Majoranas, except addition of another tower of primaries. The SYK system is seen to induce maximal chaos as well as the whole spectrum of primaries, on to the probe system. The renormalization of soft mode action is computed. We comment on features in common with Hawking radiation.
We consider the capacity of entanglement as a probe of the Hawking radiation in a two-dimensional dilaton gravity coupled with conformal matter of large degrees of freedom. A formula calculating the capacity is derived using the gravitational path integral, from which we speculate that the capacity has a discontinuity at the Page time in contrast to the continuous behavior of the generalized entropy. We apply the formula to a replica wormhole solution in an eternal AdS black hole coupled to a flat non-gravitating bath and show that the capacity of entanglement is saturated by the thermal capac…

This letter aims at showing that the observation of evaporating black holes should allow distinguishing between the usual Hawking behavior and Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG) expectations. We present a full Monte-Carlo simulation of the evaporation in LQG and statistical tests that discriminate between competing models. We conclude that contrarily to what was commonly thought, the discreteness of the area in LQG leads to characteristic features that qualify evaporating black holes as objects that could reveal quantum gravity footprints.
In this paper we study the phases of a Schwarzschild black hole in the Anti deSitter background geometry. Exploiting fluid/gravity duality we construct the Maxwell equal area isotherm T=T* in the temperature-entropy plane, in order to eliminate negative heat capacity black hole configurations. The construction we present here is reminiscent of the isobar cut in the pressure-volume plane which eliminates un-physical part of the Van der Walls curves below the critical temperature. Our construction also modifies the Hawking-Page phase transition. Stable black holes are formed at the temperature T…
In this work, we propose the quantum Hall system as a platform for exploring black hole phenomena. By exhibiting deep rooted commonalities between lowest Landau level and spacetime symmetries, we show that features of both quantum Hall and gravitational systems can be elegantly captured by a simple quantum mechanical model, the inverted harmonic oscillator. Through this correspondence, we argue that radiation phenomena in gravitational situations, such as presented by W. G. Unruh and S. Hawking, bears a parallel with saddle-potential scattering of quantum Hall quasiparticles. We also find that…
There has been much work on explaining Hawking radiation as a quantum tunneling process through horizons. Basically, this intuitive picture requires the calculation of the imaginary part of the action for outgoing particle. And two ways are known for achieving this goal: the null-geodesic method and the Hamilton-Jacobi method. We apply these methods to the charged black holes in 2D dilaton gravity which is originated from the low energy effective theory of type 0A string theory. We derive the correct Hawking temperature of the black holes including the effect of the back reaction of the radiat…
In this paper we extend the investigation of Adami and Ver Steeg [Class. Quantum Grav. \textbf{31}, 075015 (2014)] to treat the process of black hole particle emission effectively as the analogous quantum optical process of parametric down conversion (PDC) with a dynamical (depleted vs. non-depleted) `pump' source mode which models the evaporating black hole (BH) energy degree of freedom. We investigate both the short time (non-depleted pump) and long time (depleted pump) regimes of the quantum state and its impact on the Holevo channel capacity for communicating information from the far past …
A sufficiently large Schwarzschild AdS black hole with the Hawking temperature has a positive heat capacity and undergoes the Hawking-Page phase transition. Even though an arbitrary isothermal surface of a cavity is introduced, the essential features about the stability and phase transition of the Schwarzschild AdS black hole remain the same. In this paper, we study the stability and the Hawking-Page phase transition of the Schwarzschild AdS black hole by employing an alternative local temperature satisfying the Hartle-Hawking vacuum condition which states that the ingoing and outgoing fluxes …
We identify the spectral properties of Hawking-Unruh radiation in the eternal black hole at ultra low energies as a probe for the chaotic level statistics of quantum black holes. Level repulsion implies that there are barely Hawking particles with an energy smaller than the level separation. This effect is experimentally accessible by probing the Unruh heat bath with a linear detector. We provide evidence for this effect via explicit and exact calculations in JT gravity building on a radar definition of bulk observables in the model. Similar results are observed for the bath energy density. Th…
The fate of classical information incident on a quantum black hole has been the subject of an ongoing controversy in theoretical physics, because a calculation within the framework of semi-classical curved-space quantum field theory appears to show that the incident information is irretrievably lost, in contradiction to time-honored principles such as time-reversibility and unitarity. Here, we show within this framework embedded in quantum communication theory that signaling from past to future infinity in the presence of a Schwarzschild black hole can occur with arbitrary accuracy, and thus t…
In this study, the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) effect on the Hawking radiation formed by tunneling of a massive vector boson particle from the $2+1$ dimensional New-type Black Hole was investigated. We used modified massive vector boson equation based on the GUP. Then, the Hamilton-Jacobi quantum tunneling approach was used to work out the tunneling probability of the massive vector boson particle and, Hawking temperature of the black hole. Due to the GUP effect, the modified Hawking temperature was found to depend on the black hole properties, the AdS$_{3}$ radius, and on the ener…
We study modifications of the Hawking emission in the evaporation of miniature black holes possibly produced in accelerators when their mass approaches the fundamental scale of gravity, set to 1 TeV according to some extra dimension models. Back-reaction and quantum gravity corrections are modelled by employing modified relations between the black hole mass and temperature. We release the assumption that black holes explode at 1 TeV or leave a remnant, and let them evaporate to much smaller masses. We have implemented such modified decay processes into an existing micro-black hole event genera…
In canonical quantum gravity, the formal functional integral includes an integration over the local conformal factor, and we propose to perform the functional integral over this factor before doing any of the other functional integrals. By construction, the resulting effective theory would be expected to be conformally invariant and therefore finite. However, also the conformal integral itself diverges, and the effects of a renormalization counter term are considered. It generates problems such as unitarity violation, due to a Landau-like ghost, and conformal anomalies. Adding (massive or mass…
We summarize, simplify and extend recent work showing that small deviations from exact thermality in Hawking radiation, first uncovered by Kraus and Wilczek, have the capacity to carry off the maximum information content of a black hole. This goes a considerable way toward resolving a long-standing "information-loss paradox".
We study information retrieval from evaporating black holes, assuming that the internal dynamics of a black hole is unitary and rapidly mixing, and assuming that the retriever has unlimited control over the emitted Hawking radiation. If the evaporation of the black hole has already proceeded past the "half-way" point, where half of the initial entropy has been radiated away, then additional quantum information deposited in the black hole is revealed in the Hawking radiation very rapidly. Information deposited prior to the half-way point remains concealed until the half-way point, and then emer…
Regarding the volume as independent thermodynamic variable we point out that black hole horizons can hide positive heat capacity and specific heat. Such horizons are mechanically marginal, but thermally stable. In the absence of a canonical volume definition, we consider various suggestions scaling differently with the horizon radius. Assuming Euler-homogeneity of the entropy, besides the Hawking temperature, a pressure and a corresponding work term render the equation of state at the horizon thermally stable for any meaningful volume concept that scales larger than the horizon area. When cons…
We study the phase transition of rainbow inspired higher dimensional Schwarzschild black hole incorporating the effects of the generalized uncertainty principle. First, we obtain the relation between the mass and Hawking temperature of the rainbow inspired black hole taking into account the effects of the modified dispersion relation and the generalized uncertainty principle. The heat capacity is then computed from this relation which reveals that there are remnants. The entropy of the black hole is next obtained in $3+1$ and $4+1$-dimensions and is found to have logarithmic corrections only i…
Boundary correlation functions provide insight into the emergence of an effective geometry in higher spin gravity duals of O(N) or U(N) symmetric field theories. On a compact manifold, the singlet constraint leads to nontrivial dynamics at finite temperature and large N phase transitions even at vanishing 't Hooft coupling. At low temperature, the leading behavior of boundary two-point functions is consistent with propagation through a bulk thermal anti de Sitter space. Above the phase transition, the two-point function shows significant departure from thermal AdS space and the emergence of lo…
We find an exact spherically symmetric regular Bardeen-like solutions by considering the coupling between Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory and nonlinear electrodynamics (NED) in five-dimensional spacetime. These solutions, with an additional parameter $g$ apart from the mass $M$, represent black holes with Cauchy and event horizons, extremal black holes with degenerate horizons or no black holes in the absence of the horizons, and encompasses as a special case Boulware-Deser black holes which can be recovered in the absence of magnetic charge ($g=0$). Owing to the NED corrected black hole, the the…
We study the quantum correlation and quantum communication channel of both free scalar and fermionic fields in de Sitter space, while the Planckian modification presented by the choice of a particular $α$-vacuum has been considered. We show that the occurrence of degradation of quantum entanglement between field modes for an inertial observer in curved space, due to the radiation associated with its cosmological horizon. Comparing with standard Bunch-Davies choice, the possible Planckian physics causes some extra decrement on the quantum correlation, which may provide the means to detect quant…
The aim of this paper is to obtain the solution of the Einstein equation in the interior of the black holes by using arbitrary distribution functions; corresponding to Gaussian, Rayleigh, Maxwell-Boltzmann and non-Gaussian distributions. Also we calculate the Hawking temperature, the mass and heat capacity for cosmological horizon and the black hole horizon.

Dyonic black hole solutions with spherically symmetric configurations within general relativity are investigated where the source of the gravitational field is Born - Infeld-type electrodynamics. Corrections to Coulomb's law and Reissner - Nordstrom solutions are obtained. From principles of causality and unitarity we find the restriction on electric and magnetic fields. The Hawking temperature and the heat capacity of black holes are obtained. At some event horizons second-order phase transitions take place.

In the lack of a full-fledged theory of quantum gravity, I consider free, scalar, quantum fields on curved spacetimes to gain insight into the interaction between quantum and gravitational phenomena. I employ the Unruh-DeWitt detector approach to probe thermal, quantum effects on static, non-globally hyperbolic spacetimes. In this context, all physical observables depend on the choice of a boundary condition that cannot be singled-out, in general, without resorting to an experiment. Notwithstanding, the framework applied admits a large family of (Robin) boundary conditions and grants us physic…
In this work we review, in the framework of the so-called brick wall model, the divergence problem arising in the one loop calculations of various thermodynamical quantities, like entropy, internal energy and heat capacity. Particularly we find that, if one imposes that entanglement entropy is equal to the Bekenstein-Hawking one, the model gives problematic results. Then a proposal of solution to the divergence problem is made following the zeroth law of black hole mechanics.
A model of nonlinear electrodynamics with two parameters, coupled with general relativity, is investigated. We study the magnetized black hole and obtain solutions. The asymptotic of the metric and mass functions at $r\rightarrow\infty$ and $r\rightarrow 0$, and corrections to the Reissner-Nordström solution are found. We investigate thermodynamics of black holes and calculate the Hawking temperature and heat capacity of black holes. It is shown that there are phase transitions and at some parameters of the model black holes are stable.
