In this paper, we prove the strong convergence theorems for nearly nonexpansive mappings, using the modified Picard-Mann hybrid iteration process in the context of uniformly convex Banach space.
We further study averaged and firmly nonexpansive mappings in the setting of geodesic spaces with a main focus on the asymptotic behavior of their Picard iterates. We use methods of proof mining to obtain an explicit quantitative version of a generalization to geodesic spaces of result on the asymptotic behavior of Picard iterates for firmly nonexpansive mappings proved by Reich and Shafrir. From this result we obtain effective uniform bounds on the asymptotic regularity for firmly nonexpansive mappings. Besides this, we derive effective rates of asymptotic regularity for sequences generated b…
In this note, at first we prove that the existence of best proximity points for cyclic relatively nonexpansive mappings is equivalent to the existence of best proximity pairs for noncyclic relatively nonexpansive mappings in the setting of strictly convex Banach spaces by using the projection operator. In this way, we conclude that a main result of the paper "Proximal normal structure and relatively nonexpansive mappings", Studia Math., (171~(2005) 283--293) immediately follows. We then discuss the convergence of best proximity pairs for noncyclic contractions by applying the convergence of it…
In this paper, we consider a new iteration process which is faster than all of Picard, Mann, Ishikawa and Agarwal et al. processes. We also prove some strong and weak convergence theorems for the class of nonexpansive mappings in Banach spaces.
Firmly nonexpansive mappings play an important role in metric fixed point theory and optimization due to their correspondence with maximal monotone operators. In this paper we do a thorough study of fixed point theory and the asymptotic behaviour of Picard iterates of these mappings in different classes of geodesic spaces, as (uniformly convex) $W$-hyperbolic spaces, Busemann spaces and CAT(0) spaces. Furthermore, we apply methods of proof mining to obtain effective rates of asymptotic egularity for the Picard iterations.
Let $(X,\|.\|)$ be a Banach space. Let $C$ be a nonempty, bounded, closed, and convex subset of $X$ and $T: C \rightarrow C$ be a $G$-monotone nonexpansive mapping. In this work, it is shown that the Mann iteration sequence defined by $$x_{n+1} = t_n T(x_n) + (1-t_n)x_n, \, n = 1, 2, \cdots$$ can be proved the existence of a fixed point of $G$-monotone nonexpansive mappings.
By using the Ishikawa iterative algorithm, we approximate the fixed points and the best proximity points of a relatively non expansive mapping. Also, we use the von Neumann sequence to prove the convergence result in a Hilbert space setting. A comparison table is prepared using a numerical example which shows that the Ishikawa iterative algorithm is faster than some known iterative algorithms such as Picard and Mann iteration.
In this paper we propose a new iteration process, called the K iteration process, for approximation of fixed points. We show that our iteration process is faster than the existing leading iteration processes like Picard-S iteration process, Thakur New iteration process and Vatan Twostep iteration process for contraction mappings. We support our analytic proof by a numerical example. Stability of K iteration process and data dependence result for contraction mappings by employing K iteration process is also discussed. Finally we prove some weak and strong convergence theorems for the Suzuki gen…
In this paper, the Pazy's Fixed Point Theorems of monotone $α-$nonexpansive mapping $T$ are proved in a uniformly convex Banach space $E$ with the partial order "$\leq$". That is, we obtain that the fixed point set of $T$ with respect to the partial order "$\leq$" is nonempty whenever the Picard iteration $\{T^nx_0\}$ is bounded for some initial point $x_0$ with $x_0\leq Tx_0$ or $Tx_0\leq x_0$. When restricting the demain of $T$ to the cone $P$, a monotone $α-$nonexpansive mapping $T$ has at least a fixed point if and only if the Picard iteration $\{T^n0\}$ is bounbed. Furthermore, with the h…
A class of extended Ishikowa Iterative processes is proposed and studied, which involves many kinds of Mann and Ishikawa iterative processes. The main conclusion of the present work extends and generalizes some recent results of this research line.
In this paper, we introduce two new modified inertial Mann Halpern and viscosity algorithms for solving fixed point problems. We establish strong convergence theorems under some suitable conditions. Finally, our algorithms are applied to split feasibility problem, convex feasibility problem and location theory. The algorithms and results presented in this paper can summarize and improve corresponding results previously known in this area.
This paper provides a fixed point theorem for asymptotically nonexpansive mappings in uniformly convex hyperbolic spaces as well as new effective results on the Krasnoselski-Mann iterations of such mappings. The latter were found using methods from logic and the paper continues a case study in the general program of extracting effective data from prima-facie ineffective proofs in the fixed point theory of such mappings.
We introduce a new extragradient iterative process, motivated and inspired by [S. H. Khan, A Picard-Mann Hybrid Iterative Process, Fixed Point Theory and Applications, doi:10.1186/1687-1812-2013-69], for finding a common element of the set of fixed points of a nonexpansive mapping and the set of solutions of a variational inequality for an inverse strongly monotone mapping in a Hilbert space. Using this process, we prove a weak convergence theorem for the class of nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert spaces. Finally, as an application, we give some theorems by using resolvent operator and strictly…
We introduce a new iteration method called Picard-S iteration. We show that the Picard-S iteration method can be used to approximate fixed point of contraction mappings. Also, we show that our new iteration method is equivalent and converges faster than CR iteration method for the aforementioned class of mappings. Furthermore, by providing an example, it is shown that the Picard-S iteration method converges faster than all Picard, Mann, Ishikawa, Noor, SP, CR, S and some other iteration methods in the existing literature when applied to contraction mappings. A data dependence result is proven …
We establish sharp estimates for the convergence rate of the Kranosel'ski\vı-Mann fixed point iteration in general normed spaces, and we use them to show that the asymptotic regularity bound recently proved in [11] (Israel Journal of Mathematics 199(2), 757-772, 2014) with constant $1/\sqrtπ$ is sharp and cannot be improved. To this end we consider the recursive bounds introduced in [3] (Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Fixed Point Theory and Applications, World Scientific Press, London, 27-66, 1992) which we reinterpret in terms of a nested family of optimal transport proble…
The classical Krasnoselskii-Mann iteration is broadly used for approximating fixed points of nonexpansive operators. To accelerate the convergence of the Krasnoselskii-Mann iteration, the inertial methods were received much attention in recent years. In this paper, we propose an inexact inertial Krasnoselskii-Mann algorithm. In comparison with the original inertial Krasnoselskii-Mann algorithm, our algorithm allows error for updating the iterative sequence, which makes it more flexible and useful in practice. We establish weak convergence results for the proposed algorithm under different cond…
In this paper, we introduce a new iteration method and show that this iteration method can be used to approximate fixed point of almost contraction mappings. Furthermore, we prove that the new iteration method is equivalent to both Mann iteration method and Picard-Mann hybrid iteration method and also converges faster than Picard-Mann hybrid iteration method for the class of almost contraction mappings. In addition to these we give a table and graphics for support this result. Finally, we prove a data dependence result for almost contraction mappings by using the new iteration method.
In the setting of CAT(k) spaces, common fixed point iterations built from prox mappings (e.g. prox-prox, Krasnoselsky-Mann relaxations, nonlinear projected-gradients) converge locally linearly under the assumption of linear metric subregularity. Linear metric subregularity is in any case necessary for linearly convergent fixed point sequences, so the result is tight. To show this, we develop a theory of fixed point mappings that violate the usual assumptions of nonexpansiveness and firm nonexpansiveness in p-uniformly convex spaces.
In this paper, we show that Picard, Krasnoselskij, Mann, Ishikawa, new two step, Noor, multistep, new multistep, SP and S-iterative schemes are equivalent for contractive-like operators.
This paper is a continuation to the study of generalized quasi contractive operators, essentially due to Akhtar et al. [A multi-step implicit iterative process for common fixed points of generalized C^{q}-operators in convex metric spaces, Sci. Int., 25(4) (2013), 887-891], in spaces of nonpositive sectional curvature. We aim to establish results concerning convergence characteristics of the classical iterative algorithms such as Picard, Mann, Ishikawa and Xu-Noor iterative algorithms associated with the proposed class of generalized quasi contractive operators. Moreover, we adopt the concept …
Our purpose in this paper is (i) to introduce the concept of further generalized hybrid mappings (ii) to introduce the concept of common attractive points (CAP) (iii) to write and use Picard-Mann iterative process for two mappings. We approximate common attractive points of further generalized hybrid mappings by using iterative process due to Khan SHK generalized to the case of two mappings in Hilbert spaces without closedness assumption. Our results are generalizations and improvements of several results in the literature in different ways.
