In this paper, we introduce two new modified inertial Mann Halpern and viscosity algorithms for solving fixed point problems. We establish strong convergence theorems under some suitable conditions. Finally, our algorithms are applied to split feasibility problem, convex feasibility problem and location theory. The algorithms and results presented in this paper can summarize and improve corresponding results previously known in this area.
In this article, we propose a Krasnosel'ski\vı-Mann-type algorithm for finding a common fixed point of a countably infinite family of nonexpansive operators $(T_n)_{n \geq 0}$ in Hilbert spaces. We formulate an asymptotic property which the family $(T_n)_{n \geq 0}$ has to fulfill such that the sequence generated by the algorithm converges strongly to the element in $\bigcap_{n \geq 0} \operatorname{Fix} T_n$ with minimum norm. Based on this, we derive a forward-backward algorithm that allows variable step sizes and generates a sequence of iterates that converge strongly to the zero with minim…
Firstly, we invoke the weak convergence (resp. strong convergence) of translated basic methods involving nonexpansive operators to establish the weak convergence (resp. strong convergence) of the associated method with both perturbation and approximation. Then we employ the technique obtaining the result above to extend convergence results from the classic Krasnosel'ski\vı-Mann iterations to their relaxation variants for finding a common fixed point of associated nonexpansive operators. At last, we show applications on generalized proximal point algorithms for solving monotone inclusion proble…
We establish sharp estimates for the convergence rate of the Kranosel'ski\vı-Mann fixed point iteration in general normed spaces, and we use them to show that the asymptotic regularity bound recently proved in [11] (Israel Journal of Mathematics 199(2), 757-772, 2014) with constant $1/\sqrtπ$ is sharp and cannot be improved. To this end we consider the recursive bounds introduced in [3] (Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Fixed Point Theory and Applications, World Scientific Press, London, 27-66, 1992) which we reinterpret in terms of a nested family of optimal transport proble…
We study the convergence of an inexact version of the classical Krasnosel'skii-Mann iteration for computing fixed points of nonexpansive maps. Our main result establishes a new metric bound for the fixed-point residuals, from which we derive their rate of convergence as well as the convergence of the iterates towards a fixed point. The results are applied to three variants of the basic iteration: infeasible iterations with approximate projections, the Ishikawa iteration, and diagonal Krasnosels'kii-Mann schemes. The results are also extended to continuous time in order to study the asymptotics…
We consider the problem of finding a fixed point of a nonexpansive mapping, which is also a solution of a pseudo-monotone equilibrium problem, where the bifunction in the equilibrium problem is the sum of two ones. We propose a splitting algorithm combining the gradient method for equilibrium problem and the Mann iteration scheme for fixed points of nonexpansive mappings. At each iteration of the algorithm, two strongly convex subprograms are required to solve separately, one for each of the component bifunctions. Our main result states that, under paramonotonicity property of the given bifunc…
Recently, the author, together with L. Leustean and A. Nicolae, introduced the notion of jointly firmly nonexpansive families of mappings in order to investigate in an abstract manner the convergence of proximal methods. Here, we further the study of this concept, by giving a characterization in terms of the classical resolvent identity, by improving on the rate of convergence previously obtained for the uniform case, and by giving a treatment of the asymptotic behaviour at infinity of such families.
This paper investigates the problem of finding a fixed point for a global nonexpansive operator under time-varying communication graphs in real Hilbert spaces, where the global operator is separable and composed of an aggregate sum of local nonexpansive operators. Each local operator is only privately accessible to each agent, and all agents constitute a network. To seek a fixed point of the global operator, it is indispensable for agents to exchange local information and update their solution cooperatively. To solve the problem, two algorithms are developed, called distributed Krasnosel'ski\u…
This paper addresses the problem of seeking a common fixed point for a collection of nonexpansive operators over time-varying multi-agent networks in real Hilbert spaces, where each operator is only privately and approximately known to each individual agent, and all agents need to cooperate to solve this problem by propagating their own information to their neighbors through local communications over time-varying networks. To handle this problem, inspired by the centralized inexact Krasnosel'ski\uı-Mann (IKM) iteration, we propose a distributed algorithm, called distributed inexact Krasnosel's…
Operator splitting techniques have recently gained popularity in convex optimization problems arising in various control fields. Being fixed-point iterations of nonexpansive operators, such methods suffer many well known downsides, which include high sensitivity to ill conditioning and parameter selection, and consequent low accuracy and robustness. As universal solution we propose SuperMann, a Newton-type algorithm for finding fixed points of nonexpansive operators. It generalizes the classical Krasnosel'skii-Mann scheme, enjoys its favorable global convergence properties and requires exactly…
We consider an inertial primal-dual algorithm to compute the minimizations of the sum of two convex functions and the composition of another convex function with a continuous linear operator. With the idea of coordinate descent, we design a stochastic coordinate descent inertial primal-dual splitting algorithm. Moreover, in order to prove the convergence of the proposed inertial algorithm, we formulate first the inertial version of the randomized Krasnosel'skii-Mann iterations algorithm for approximating the set of fixed points of a nonexpansive operator and investigate its convergence propert…
In the setting of CAT(k) spaces, common fixed point iterations built from prox mappings (e.g. prox-prox, Krasnoselsky-Mann relaxations, nonlinear projected-gradients) converge locally linearly under the assumption of linear metric subregularity. Linear metric subregularity is in any case necessary for linearly convergent fixed point sequences, so the result is tight. To show this, we develop a theory of fixed point mappings that violate the usual assumptions of nonexpansiveness and firm nonexpansiveness in p-uniformly convex spaces.
This paper investigates optimal error bounds and convergence rates for general Mann iterations for computing fixed-points of non-expansive maps. We look for iterations that achieve the smallest fixed-point residual after $n$ steps, by minimizing a worst-case bound $\|x^n-Tx^n\|\le R_n$ derived from a nested family of optimal transport problems. We prove that this bound is tight so that minimizing $R_n$ yields optimal iterations. Inspired from numerical results we identify iterations that attain the rate $R_n=O(1/n)$, which we also show to be the best possible. In particular, we prove that the …
Fixed point iterations play a central role in the design and the analysis of a large number of optimization algorithms. We study a new iterative scheme in which the update is obtained by applying a composition of quasinonexpansive operators to a point in the affine hull of the orbit generated up to the current iterate. This investigation unifies several algorithmic constructs, including Mann's mean value method, inertial methods, and multi-layer memoryless methods. It also provides a framework for the development of new algorithms, such as those we propose for solving monotone inclusion and mi…
The common fixed points problem requires finding a point in the intersection of fixed points sets of a finite collection of operators. Quickly solving problems of this sort is of great practical importance for engineering and scientific tasks (e.g., for computed tomography). Iterative methods for solving these problems often employ a Krasnosel'ski\uı-Mann type iteration. We present an Asynchronous Sequential Inertial (ASI) algorithmic framework in a Hilbert space to solve common fixed points problems with a collection of nonexpansive operators. Our scheme allows use of out-of-date iterates whe…
In this paper, we study the strong convergence of two Mann-type inertial extragradient algorithms, which are devised with a new step size, for solving a variational inequality problem with a monotone and Lipschitz continuous operator in real Hilbert spaces. Strong convergence theorems for our algorithms are proved without the prior knowledge of the Lipschitz constant of the operator. Finally, we provide some numerical experiments to illustrate the performances of the proposed algorithms and provide a comparison with related ones.
The objective of this research is to explore a convex feasibility problem, which consists of a monotone variational inequality problem and a fixed point problem. We introduce four inertial extragradient algorithms that are motivated by the inertial method, the subgradient extragradient method, the Tseng's extragradient method and the Mann-type method endowed with a simple step size. Strong convergence theorems of the algorithms are established under some standard and suitable conditions enforced by the cost operators. Finally, we implement some computational tests to show the efficiency and ad…
In this paper we consider the problem of finding the minimizations of the sum of two convex functions and the composition of another convex function with a continuous linear operator. With the idea of coordinate descent, we design a stochastic coordinate descent primal-dual splitting algorithm with dynamic stepsize. Based on randomized Modified Krasnosel'skii-Mann iterations and the firmly nonexpansive properties of the proximity operator, we achieve the convergence of the proposed algorithms. Moreover, we give two applications of our method.
The three-operators splitting algorithm is a popular operator splitting method for finding the zeros of the sum of three maximally monotone operators, with one of which is cocoercive operator. In this paper, we propose a class of inertial three-operator splitting algorithm. The convergence of the proposed algorithm is proved by applying the inertial Krasnoselskii-Mann iteration under certain conditions on the iterative parameters in real Hilbert spaces. As applications, we develop an inertial three-operator splitting algorithm to solve the convex minimization problem of the sum of three convex…
We consider the problem of finding the minimization of the sum of a convex function and the composition of another convex function with a continuous linear operator from the view of fixed point algorithms based on proximity operators. We design a primal-dual fixed point algorithm with dynamic stepsize based on the proximity operator and obtain a scheme with a closed form solution for each iteration. Based on Modified Mann iteration and the firmly nonexpansive properties of the proximity operator, we achieve the convergence of the proposed algorithm.
A novel method which is called the Chebyshev inertial iteration for accelerating the convergence speed of fixed-point iterations is presented. The Chebyshev inertial iteration can be regarded as a valiant of the successive over relaxation or Krasnosel'ski\vı-Mann iteration utilizing the inverse of roots of a Chebyshev polynomial as iteration dependent inertial factors. One of the most notable features of the proposed method is that it can be applied to nonlinear fixed-point iterations in addition to linear fixed-point iterations. Linearization around the fixed point is the key for the analysis…
We consider the monotone inclusion problems in real Hilbert spaces. Proximal splitting algorithms are very popular technique to solve it and generally achieve weak convergence under mild assumptions. Researchers assume the strong conditions like strong convexity or strong monotonicity on the considered operators to prove strong convergence of the algorithms. Mann iteration method and normal S-iteration method are popular methods to solve fixed point problems. We propose a new common fixed point algorithm based on normal S-iteration method using Tikhonov regularization to find common fixed poin…
The problem of minimizing the sum of nonsmooth, convex objective functions defined on a real Hilbert space over the intersection of fixed point sets of nonexpansive mappings, onto which the projections cannot be efficiently computed, is considered. The use of proximal point algorithms that use the proximity operators of the objective functions and incremental optimization techniques is proposed for solving the problem. With the focus on fixed point approximation techniques, two algorithms are devised for solving the problem. One blends an incremental subgradient method, which is a useful algor…
In this paper, we present a convergence rate analysis for the inexact Krasnosel'skii-Mann iteration built from nonexpansive operators. Our results include two main parts: we first establish global pointwise and ergodic iteration-complexity bounds, and then, under a metric subregularity assumption, we establish local linear convergence for the distance of the iterates to the set of fixed points. The obtained iteration-complexity result can be applied to analyze the convergence rate of various monotone operator splitting methods in the literature, including the Forward-Backward, the Generalized …
String-averaging is an algorithmic structure used when handling a family of operators in situations where the algorithm at hand requires to employ the operators in a specific order. Sequential orderings are well-known and a simultaneous order means that all operators are used simultaneously (in parallel). String-averaging allows to use strings of indices, constructed by subsets of the index set of all operators, to apply the operators along these strings and then to combine their end-points in some agreed manner to yield the next iterate of the algorithm. String-averaging methods were discusse…
This paper considers the fixed point problem for a nonexpansive mapping on a real Hilbert space and proposes novel line search fixed point algorithms to accelerate the search. The termination conditions for the line search are based on the well-known Wolfe conditions that are used to ensure the convergence and stability of unconstrained optimization algorithms. The directions to search for fixed points are generated by using the ideas of the steepest descent direction and conventional nonlinear conjugate gradient directions for unconstrained optimization. We perform convergence as well as conv…
Splitting schemes are a class of powerful algorithms that solve complicated monotone inclusions and convex optimization problems that are built from many simpler pieces. They give rise to algorithms in which the simple pieces of the decomposition are processed individually. This leads to easily implementable and highly parallelizable algorithms, which often obtain nearly state-of-the-art performance. In the first part of this paper, we analyze the convergence rates of several general splitting algorithms and provide examples to prove the tightness of our results. The most general rates are pro…
We introduce a new paradigm for solving regularized variational problems. These are typically formulated to address ill-posed inverse problems encountered in signal and image processing. The objective function is traditionally defined by adding a regularization function to a data fit term, which is subsequently minimized by using iterative optimization algorithms. Recently, several works have proposed to replace the operator related to the regularization by a more sophisticated denoiser. These approaches, known as plug-and-play (PnP) methods, have shown excellent performance. Although it has b…
We propose and study a weakly convergent variant of the forward--backward algorithm for solving structured monotone inclusion problems. Our algorithm features a per-iteration deviation vector which provides additional degrees of freedom. The only requirement on the deviation vector to guarantee convergence is that its norm is bounded by a quantity that can be computed online. This approach provides great flexibility and opens up for the design of new and improved forward--backward-based algorithms, while retaining global convergence guarantees. These guarantees include linear convergence of ou…
