We study certain extensions of the Adler map on Grassmann algebras $Γ(n)$ of order $n$. We consider a known Grassmann-extended Adler map, and assuming that $n=1$ we obtain a commutative extension of Adler's map in six dimensions. We show that the map satisfies the Yang--Baxter equation, admits three invariants and is Liouville integrable. We solve the map explicitly, viewed as a discrete dynamical system.
The classification of lattice equations that are integrable in the sense of higher-dimensional consistency is extended by allowing directed edges. We find two cases that are not transformable via the 'admissible transformations' to the lattice equations in the existing classification.
We propose a discrete Darboux-Lax scheme for deriving auto-Bäcklund transformations and constructing solutions to quad-graph equations that do not necessarily possess the 3D consistency property. As an illustrative example we use the Adler-Yamilov type system which is related to the nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation [19]. In particular, we construct an auto-Bäcklund transformation for this discrete system, its superposition principle, and we employ them in the construction of the one- and two-soliton solutions of the Adler-Yamilov system.
We construct a noncommutative (Grassmann) extension of the well known Adler Yang-Baxter map. It satisfies the Yang-Baxter equation, it is reversible and birational. Our extension preserves all the properties of the original map except the involutivity.
Integrable discretisations for a class of coupled (super) nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) type of equations are presented. The class corresponds to a Lax operator with entries in a Grassmann algebra. Elementary Darboux transformations are constructed. As a result, Grassmann generalisations of the Toda lattice and the NLS dressing chain are obtained. The compatibility (Bianchi commutativity) of these Darboux transformations leads to integrable Grassmann generalisations of the difference Toda and NLS equations. The resulting systems will have discrete Lax representations provided by the set of two c…
Continuously symmetric solutions of the Adler-Bobenko-Suris class of discrete integrable equations are presented. Initially defined by their invariance under the action of both of the extended three point generalized symmetries admitted by the corresponding equations, these solutions are shown to be determined by an integrable system of partial differential equations. The connection of this system to the Nijhoff-Hone-Joshi "generating partial differential equations" is established and an auto-Backlund transformation and a Lax pair for it are constructed. Applied to the H1 and Q1$_{δ=0}$ member…
It is well known that the integrable Hamiltonian systems defined by the Adler-Kostant-Symes construction correspond via Hamiltonian reduction to systems on cotangent bundles of Lie groups. Generalizing previous results on Toda systems, here a Lagrangian version of the reduction procedure is exhibited for those cases for which the underlying Lie algebra admits an invariant scalar product. This is achieved by constructing a Lagrangian with gauge symmetry in such a way that, by means of the Dirac algorithm, this Lagrangian reproduces the Adler-Kostant-Symes system whose Hamiltonian is the quadrat…
The theory of triples of Poisson brackets and related integrable systems, based on a classical R-matrix R in End_F(g), where g is a finite dimensional associative algebra over a field F viewed as a Lie algebra, was developed by Oevel-Ragnisco and Li-Parmentier [OR89,LP89]. In the present paper we develop an "affine" analogue of this theory by introducing the notion of a continuous Poisson vertex algebra and constructing triples of Poisson lambda-brackets. We introduce the corresponding Adler type identities and apply them to integrability of hierarchies of Hamiltonian PDEs.
We prove that any classical affine W-algebra W(g,f), where g is a classical Lie algebra and f is an arbitrary nilpotent element of g, carries an integrable Hamiltonian hierarchy of Lax type equations. This is based on the theories of generalized Adler type operators and of generalized quasideterminants, which we develop in the paper. Moreover, we show that under certain conditions, the product of two generalized Adler type operators is a Lax type operator. We use this fact to construct a large number of integrable Hamiltonian systems, recovering, as a special case, all KdV type hierarchies con…
We investigate dispersionless integrable systems in 3D associated with fourfolds in the Grassmannian Gr(3,5). Such systems appear in numerous applications in continuum mechanics, general relativity and differential geometry, and include such well-known examples as the dispersionless Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation, the Boyer-Finley equation, etc. We prove the equivalence of the four different approaches to integrability, revealing a remarkable correspondence with Einstein-Weyl geometry and the theory of GL(2,R) structures.
In this paper, we formulate a "Grassmann extension" scheme for constructing noncommutative (Grassmann) extensions of Yang-Baxter maps together with their associated systems of P$Δ$Es, based on the ideas presented in \cite{Sokor-Kouloukas}. Using this scheme, we first construct a Grassmann extension of a Yang-Baxter map which constitutes a lift of a lattice Boussinesq system. The Grassmann-extended Yang-Baxter map can be squeezed down to a novel, integrable, Grassmann lattice Boussinesq system, and we derive its $3D$-consistent limit. We show that some systems retain their $3D$-consistency prop…
We consider discrete nets in Grassmannians $\mathbb{G}^d_r$ which generalize Q-nets (maps $\mathbb{Z}^N\to\mathbb{P}^d$ with planar elementary quadrilaterals) and Darboux nets ($\mathbb{P}^d$-valued maps defined on the edges of $\mathbb{Z}^N$ such that quadruples of points corresponding to elementary squares are all collinear). We give a geometric proof of integrability (multidimensional consistency) of these novel nets, and show that they are analytically described by the noncommutative discrete Darboux system.
Reductions for systems of ODEs integrable via the standard factorization method (the Adler-Kostant-Symes scheme) or the generalized factorization method, developed by the authors earlier, are considered. Relationships between such reductions, operator Yang-Baxter equations, and some kinds of non-associative algebras are established.
The $6 = 3\times 2$ huge Lie algebra $Ξ$ of all local and non local differential operators on a circle is applied to the standard Adler-Kostant-Symes (AKS) R-bracket sckeme. It is shown in particular that there exist three additional Lie structures, associated to three graded modified classical Yang-Baxter(GMCYB) equations. As we know from the standard case, these structures can be used to classify in a more consitent way a wide class of integrable systems. Other algebraic properties are also presented.
We show that the set of transfer matrices of an arbitrary fusion type for an integrable quantum model obey these bilinear functional relations, which are identified with an integrable dynamical system on a Grassmann manifold (higher Hirota equation). The bilinear relations were previously known for a particular class of transfer matrices corresponding to rectangular Young diagrams. We extend this result for general Young diagrams. A general solution of the bilinear equations is presented.
An infinite series of Grassmann-odd and Grassmann-even flow equations is defined for a class of supersymmetric integrable hierarchies associated with loop superalgebras. All these flows commute with the mutually commuting bosonic ones originally considered to define these hierarchies and, hence, provide extra fermionic and bosonic symmetries that include the built-in N=1 supersymmetry transformation. The corresponding non-local conserved quantities are also constructed. As an example, the particular case of the principal supersymmetric hierarchies associated with the affine superalgebras with …
Using classical double G of a Lie algebra g equipped with a classical R-operator we define two sets of mutually commuting functions with respect to the initial Lie-Poisson bracket on g* and its extensions. We consider in details examples of the Lie algebras g with the "Adler--Kostant--Symes" R-operators and the corresponding two sets of mutually commuting functions. Using the constructed commutative hamiltonian flows on different extensions of g we obtain zero-curvature equations with g-valued U-V pairs. Among such the equations are so-called "negative flows" of soliton hierarchies. We illlust…
We consider integrable generalizations of the spherical pendulum system to the Stiefel variety $V(n,r)=SO(n)/SO(n-r)$ for a certain metric. For the case of V(n,2) an alternative integrable model of the pendulum is presented. We also describe a system on the Stiefel variety with a four-degree potential. The latter has invariant relations on $T^*V(n,r)$ which provide the complete integrability of the flow reduced on the oriented Grassmannian variety $G^+(n,r)=SO(n)/SO(r)\times SO(n-r)$.
We use a Grassmannian framework to define multi-component tau functions as expectation values of certain multi-component Fermi operators satisfying simple bilinear commutation relations on Clifford algebra. The tau functions contain both positive and negative flows and are shown to satisfy the $2n$-component KP hierarchy. The hierarchy equations can be formulated in terms of pseudo-differential equations for $n \times n$ matrix wave functions derived in terms of tau functions. These equations are cast in form of Sato-Wilson relations. A reduction process leads to the AKNS, two-component Camass…
A number of examples of Hamiltonian systems that are integrable by classical means are cast within the framework of isospectral flows in loop algebras. These include: the Neumann oscillator, the cubically nonlinear Schrödinger systems and the sine-Gordon equation. Each system has an associated invariant spectral curve and may be integrated via the Liouville-Arnold technique. The linearizing map is the Abel map to the associated Jacobi variety, which is deduced through separation of variables in hyperellipsoidal coordinates. More generally, a family of moment maps is derived, identifying certai…
