Dynamical solutions for an evolving multiple network of black holes near a cosmological bounce dominated by a scalar field are investigated. In particular, we consider the class of black hole lattice models in a hyperspherical cosmology, and we focus on the special case of eight regularly-spaced black holes with equal masses when the model parameter $κ> 1$. We first derive exact time evolving solutions of instantaneously-static models, by utilizing perturbative solutions of the constraint equations that can then be used to develop exact 4D dynamical solutions of the Einstein field equations. We use the notion of a geometric horizon, which can be characterized by curvature invariants, to determine the black hole horizon. We explicitly compute the invariants for the exact dynamical models obtained. As an application, we discuss whether black holes can persist in such a universe that collapses and then subsequently bounces into a new expansionary phase. We find evidence that in the physical models under investigation (and particularly for $κ> 1$) the individual black holes do not merge before nor at the bounce, so that consequently black holes can indeed persist through the bounce.
We discuss whether black holes could persist in a universe which recollapses and then bounces into a new expansion phase. Whether the bounce is of classical or quantum gravitational origin, such cosmological models are of great current interest. In particular, we investigate the mass range in which black holes might survive a bounce and ways of differentiating observationally between black holes formed just after and just before the last bounce. We also discuss the consequences of the universe going through a sequence of dimensional changes as it passes through a bounce.
Classically, black holes admit maximal interior volumes that grow asymptotically linearly in time. We show that such volumes remain large when Hawking evaporation is taken into account. Even if a charged black hole approaches the extremal limit during this evolution, its volume continues to grow; although an exactly extremal black hole does not have a "large interior". We clarify this point and discuss the implications of our results to the information loss and firewall paradoxes.
Charged, rotating black hole solutions of Einstein's gravitational equations are investigated in the presence of a cosmological constant. A pair of wave equations governing the electromagnetic and gravitational perturbations are derived.
The properties of static spherically symmetric black holes, which carry electric and magnetic charges, and which are coupled to the dilaton in the presence of a cosmological term (Liouville-type potential, or cosmological constant) are reviewed.
Adopting a simple ansatz, we find exact solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton equations, which stand for the multi-black hole configuration with maximal charge in a cosmological metric and dilaton field background driven by a cosmological term.
In the Euclidean path integral approach, we calculate the actions and the entropies for the Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter solutions. When the temperatures of black hole and cosmological horizons are equal, the entropy is the sum of one-quarter areas of black hole and cosmological horizons; when the inner and outer black hole horizons coincide, the entropy is only one-quarter area of cosmological horizon; and the entropy vanishes when the two black hole horizons and cosmological horizon coincide. We also calculate the Euler numbers of the corresponding Euclidean manifolds, and discuss the relati…
We present a review of black holes and black string solutions available in the $d$-dimensional Einstein and Einstein-Maxwell model in the presence of a cosmological constant. Due to the cosmological constant, the equations do not admit explicit solutions for generic values of the parameters and numerical methods are necessary to construct the solutions. Several new features of the solutions are discussed, namely their stability and the occurrence of non-uniform black strings which depend non-trivially on the co-dimension. Black string solutions are further constructed for the Einstein-Gauss-Bo…
We address some aspects of black hole spacetimes endowed with a positive cosmological constant, i.e. black holes located inside a cosmological event horizon. First we establish a general criterion for existence of cosmological event horizons. Using the geometrical set up built for this, we study classical black hole no hair theorems for both static and stationary axisymmetric spacetimes. We discuss cosmic Nielsen-Olesen strings as hair in Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime. We also give a general calculation for particle creation by a Killing horizon using complex path analysis and using this w…
In a recent propposal, the cosmological constant has been considered as as a new thermodynamical variable and its change is related to the radiation produced by black holes. Using this consideration and by modelling the primordial black holes as Schwarzschild-de Sitter holes,we have constrained the total mass of primordial black holes evaporated by now, giving an estimate of the order of 1.624x10^24 solar masses.
We construct the thermodynamic geometry of $2+1$ dimensional normal (exotic) BTZ black hole regarding to the fluctuation of cosmological constant. We argue that while the thermodynamic geometry of black hole without fluctuation of cosmological constant is a two dimensional flat spaces, the three dimensional thermodynamics parameters space including the cosmological constant as a fluctuating parameter will be curved. Some consequence of the fluctuation of cosmological constant will be investigated. We show that such fluctuation leads to a thermodynamics curvature which is correctly singular at …
While in general relativity black holes can be freely embedded into a cosmological background, the same problem in brane-worlds is much more cumbersome. We present here the results obtained so far in the explicit constructions of such space-times. We also discuss gravitational collapse in this context.
We present arguments for the existence of charged, rotating black holes in $d=2N+1$ dimensions, with $d\geq 5$ with a positive cosmological constant. These solutions posses both, a regular horizon and a cosmological horizon of spherical topology and have $N$ equal-magnitude angular momenta. They approach asymptotically the de Sitter spacetime background. The counterpart equations for $d=2N+2$ are investigated, by assuming that the fields are independant of the extra dimension $y$, leading to black strings solutions. These solutions are regular at the event horizon. The asymptotic form of the m…
The cosmological black holes are black holes living not in an asymptotically flat universe but in an expanding spacetime. They have a rich dynamics in particular for their mass and horizon. In this article we perform a natural step in investigating this new type of black hole: we consider the possibility of a \textit{charged} cosmological black hole. We derive the general equations of motion governing its dynamics and report a new analytic solution for the special case of the charged Lemaître-Tolman-Bondi equations of motion that describe a charged cosmological black hole. We then study variou…
The Sultana-Dyer solution of general relativity representing a black hole embedded in a special cosmological background is analysed. We find an expanding (weak) spacetime singularity instead of the reported conformal Killing horizon, which is covered by an expanding black hole apparent horizon (internal to a cosmological apparent horizon) for most of the history of the universe. This singularity was naked early on. The global structure of the solution is studied as well.
We explore the connection between the distribution of particles spontaneously produced from an electric field or black hole and the vacuum persistence, twice the imaginary part of the one-loop effective action. Employing the reconstruction conjecture, we find the effective action for the Bose-Einstein or Fermi-Dirac distribution. The Schwinger effect in ${\rm AdS}_2$ is computed via the phase-integral method in the static coordinates. The Hawking radiation and Schwinger effect of a charged black hole is rederived and interpreted via the phase-integral. Finally, we discuss the relation between …
In the context of a debate on the correct expression of the Hawking temperature of an expanding cosmological black hole, we show that the correct expression in terms of the Hawking-Hayward quasi-local energy m of the hole is T=1/(8πm(t)). This expression holds for comoving black holes and agrees with a recent proposal by Saida, Harada, and Maeda.
Black hole solutions with nonspherical event horizon topology are shown to exist in an Einstein-Yang-Mills theory with negative cosmological constant. The main characteristics of the solutions are presented and differences with respect to the spherically symmetric case are studied. The stability of these configurations is also addressed.
We study spherically symmetric black hole solutions with Skyrme hair in the Einstein-Skyrme theory with a negative cosmological constant. The dependence of the skyrmion field configuration on the cosmological constant is examined. The stability is investigated in detail by solving the linearly perturbed equation numerically. It is shown that there exist linearly stable solutions in the branch which represents unstable configuration in the asymptotically flat spacetime.
We study the phase space of the spherically symmetric solutions of the system obtained from the dimensional reduction of the six-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet action with a cosmological constant. We show that all the physical solutions have anti-de Sitter asymptotic behavior.
Using the canonical quantum theory of spherically symmetric pure gravitational systems, we present a direct correspondence between the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmological model in the interior of a Schwarzschild black hole and the nth energy eigenstate of a linear harmonic oscillator. Such type of universe has a quantized mass of the order of the Planck mass and harmonic oscillator wave functions
We consider black holes in EYM theory with a negative cosmological constant. The solutions obtained are somewhat different from those for which the cosmological constant is either positive or zero. Firstly, regular black hole solutions exist for continuous intervals of the parameter space, rather than discrete points. Secondly, there are non-trivial solutions in which the gauge field has no nodes. We show that these solutions are linearly stable.
In this paper, we study the thermodynamical properties of the (2+1)dimensional black hole with a non-linear electrodynamics and without cosmological constant using the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). This approach shows that there is a maximum temperature for the black hole depending only on the electric charge and corresponding to the minimum radius of the event horizon, of the order of the Planck scale. Finally we show that the heat capacity for this black hole has the expected behavior.
Using a recently developed perturbation formalism based on curvature quantities, we investigate the linear stability of black holes and solitons with Yang-Mills hair and a negative cosmological constant. We show that those solutions which have no linear instabilities under odd- and even- parity spherically symmetric perturbations remain stable under odd-parity, linear, non-spherically symmetric perturbations.
We study the classical solutions of the Einstein-Yang-Mills model in five dimensions in the presence of a cosmological constant $Λ$. Using a spherically symmetric ansatz and assuming that the fields do not depend on the extra dimension, we transform the equations into a set of differential equations that we solve numerically. We construct new types of regular (resp. black holes) solutions which, close to the origin (resp. the event horizon) resemble the 4-dimensional gravitating monopole (resp. non abelian black hole) and study their global properties.
The thermodynamics of the Kerr-AdS black hole is reformulated within the context of the formalism of geometrothermodynamics (GTD) and the cosmological constant is considered as a new thermodynamical parameter. We conclude that the mass of the black hole corresponds to the total enthalpy of this system. Choosing appropriately the metric in the equilibrium states manifold, we study the phase transitions as a divergence of the thermodynamical curvature scalar. This approach reproduces the Hawking-Page transition and shows that considering the cosmological constant as a thermodynamical parameter d…
In this paper we will show that using the cosmological constant as a new thermodynamical state variable, the differential and integral mass formulas of the first law of thermodynamics for asymptotic flat spacetimes can be extended to be used at the two horizons of the (2+1) dimensional BTZ black hole. We also extend this equations to the stringy description of the BTZ black hole, in which two new systems that resemble the right and left modes of effective string theory, are defined in terms of the inner and outer horizons.
A brief illustrative discussion of the shadows of black holes at local and cosmological distances is presented. Starting from definition of the term and discussion of recent observations, we then investigate shadows at large, cosmological distances. On a cosmological scale, the size of shadow observed by comoving observer is expected to be affected by cosmic expansion. Exact analytical solution for the shadow angular size of Schwarzschild black hole in de Sitter universe was found. Additionally, an approximate method was presented, based on using angular size redshift relation. This approach i…
Cosmic expansion is expected to influence on the size of black hole shadow observed by comoving observer. Except the simplest case of Schwarzschild black hole in de Sitter universe, analytical approach for calculation of shadow size in expanding universe is still not developed. In this paper we present approximate method based on using angular size redshift relation. This approach is appropriate for general case of any multicomponent universe (with matter, radiation and dark energy). In particular, we have shown that supermassive black holes at large cosmological distances in the universe with…
In the present work, we study the general surrounded Vaidya solution by the various cosmological fields and its nature describing the possibility of the formation of naked singularities or black holes. Motivated by the fact that real astrophysical black holes as non-stationary and non-isolated objects are living in non-empty backgrounds, we focus on the black hole subclasses of this general solution describing a dynamical evaporating-accreting black holes in the dynamical cosmological backgrounds of dust, radiation, quintessence, cosmological constant-like and phantom fields, the so called sur…
We investigate the possibility of having hairs on the cosmological horizon. The cosmological horizon shares similar properties of black hole horizons in the aspect of having hairs on the horizons. For those theories admitting haired black hole solutions, the nontrivial matter fields may reach and extend beyond the cosmological horizon. For Q-stars and boson stars, the matter fields cannot reach the cosmological horizon. The no short hair conjecture keeps valid, despite the asymptotic behavior (de Sitter or anti-de Sitter) of black hole solutions. We prove the no scalar hair theorem for anti-de…
We investigate the effects of cosmological constant on the characteristic peaks in the iron line profile in the black hole accretion disk X-ray spectrum. Our results show that for a fixed mass black hole, the peaks become less pronounced and closer together with increasing cosmological constant. This effect is mainly due to the slower rotational velocity of Keplerian orbits at large radii in the Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime as compared to those for the Schwarzschild spacetime. This change of the iron line profile is similar to that obtained from increasing the outer radius of the accretio…
We analytically investigate the influence of a cosmic expansion on the shadow of the Schwarzschild black hole. We suppose that the expansion is driven by a cosmological constant only and use the Kottler (or Schwarzschild-deSitter) spacetime as a model for a Schwarzschild black hole embedded in a deSitter universe. We calculate the angular radius of the shadow for an observer who is comoving with the cosmic expansion. It is found that the angular radius of the shadow shrinks to a non-zero finite value if the comoving observer approaches infinity.
The formation of cosmological black holes is investigated using the functional Schroedinger equation as observed by an asymptotic observer, assuming a spherical domain wall collapse process. The mass formula of the Sultana-Dyer black hole is derived using Israel's domain wall mathematical framework. This is used to examine the semi-classical and quantum nature of the collapsing domain wall in the general scale of an arbitrary scale factor, while ignoring evaporation and back reaction mass losses. Particular FLRW scale factors are then explored for black hole horizon formation times, all yieldi…
Using a recently developed perturbation formalism based on curvature quantities, we complete our investigation of the linear stability of black holes and solitons with Yang-Mills hair and a negative cosmological constant. We show that those solutions which have no linear instabilities under odd- and even-parity spherically symmetric perturbations remain stable under even-parity, linear, non-spherically symmetric perturbations. Together with the result from a previous work, we have therefore established the existence of stable hairy black holes and solitons with anti-de Sitter asymptotic.
We calculate explicitly the black-hole temperature for the Schwarzschild de-Sitter solution inside massive gravity by defining the Killing-vector in the direction of the Stückelberg function. We then consider the conditions which an observer in massive gravity has to obey in order to agree with the standard results of General Relativity.
We propose a thermal interpretation of the Schwinger effect for charged scalars and spinors in an extremal and near-extremal Reissner-Nordström (RN) black hole. The emission of charges has the distribution with an effective temperature determined by the Davies-Unruh temperature for accelerating charges by the electric field and the scalar curvature of AdS_2 from the near-horizon geometry AdS_2 X S^2. We find a charge bound for the extremal micro black hole to remain stable against the Schwinger emission in analogy with the Breitenlohlner-Freedman bound for the AdS space. In the in-out formalis…
We study spherically symmetric regular and black hole solutions in the Einstein-Skyrme theory with a negative cosmological constant. The Skyrme field configuration depends on the value of the cosmological constant in a similar manner to effectively varying the gravitational constant. We find the maximum value of the cosmological constant above which there exists no solution. The properties of the solutions are discussed in comparison with the asymptotically flat solutions. The stability is investigated in detail by solving the linearly perturbed equation numerically. We show that there exists …
Many different cosmological models have been proposed to address the cosmological constant problem and the coincidence problem. We compare here four different models that can be used to describe an effective (time-dependent) cosmological constant $Λ(z)$. A numerical analysis of the $Λ(z)$ evolution obtained for each model shows that it can be used for distinguishing between all four models. We calculate next the $ω(Λ)$ frequencies for quasinormal modes of gravitational perturbations of Schwarzschild-de Sitter black holes at different redshifts. Considering that the variation of $Λ$ happens on …
In this paper, we investigate the pair creation of charged and rotating black hole pairs in a background with a positive cosmological constant. Instantons to describe this situation are constructed from the Kerr-Newmann deSitter solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell equations and the actions of these instantons are calculated in order to estimate pair creation rates and the entropy of the created spacetimes.
This paper deals with the semiclassical radiation spectrum of static and circularly symmetric 3D charged dilaton black holes with cosmological constant Λ in non-asymptotically flat spacetimes. We first review the 3D charged dilaton black holes which are solution to low-energy string action. The wave equation of a massless scalar field is shown to be exactly solvable in terms of hypergeometric functions. Thus, the radiation spectrum and its corresponding temperature are obtained, precisely. Computations at high frequency regime show that the radiation spectrum yields the Hawking temperature of …
A widespread solution-generating technique of general relativity consists of conformally transforming known `seed' solutions. It is shown that these new solutions always solve the field equations of a pathological Brans-Dicke theory. Furthermore, when interpreted as effective Einstein equations, those field equations exhibit, in the case of a cosmological `background', an induced imperfect fluid as an additional effective source besides the original sources of the `seed' solutions. As an application, the charged non-rotating Thakurta black hole conformal to Reissner-Nordstrom is used to demonst…
In this paper,we discuss optical properties of the nonlinear magnetic charged black hole surrounded by quintessence with a non-zero cosmological constant $Λ$. Setting the state parameter $ω=-3/2$ , we studied the horizon, the photon region and the shadow of this black hole. It turned out that for a fixed quintessential parameter $γ$, in a certain range, with the increase of the rotation parameter $a$ and magnetic charge $Q$, the inner horizon radius increases while the outer horizon radius decreases. And the cosmological horizon $r_Λ$ decrease when $γ$ or $Λ$ incease and increase slightly with…
Zero point fluctuations of quantum fields should generate a large cosmological constant energy density in any spacetime. How then can we have anything other than de Sitter space without fine tuning? Well tempering -- dynamical cancellation of the cosmological constant using degeneracy within the field equations -- can replace a large cosmological constant with a much lower energy state. Here we give an explicit mechanism to obtain a Minkowski solution, replacing the cosmological constant with zero, and testing its attractor nature and persistence through a vacuum phase transition. We derive th…
We describe in superspace a classical theory of two dimensional $(1,1)$ dilaton supergravity with a cosmological constant, both with and without coupling to a massive superparticle. We give general exact non-trivial superspace solutions for the compensator superfield that describes the supergravity in both cases. We then use these compensator solutions to construct models of two-dimensional supersymmetric cosmological black holes.
We investigate the effect of the cosmological constant on the angular size of a black hole shadow. It is known that the accelerated expansion which is created by the cosmological constant changes the angular size of the black hole shadow for static observers. However, the shadow size must be calculated for the appropriate cosmological observes. We calculate the angular size of the shadow measured by cosmological comoving observers by projecting the shadow angle to this observer rest frame. We show that the shadow size tends to zero as the observer approaches the cosmological horizon. We estima…
We derive and analyze exact static solutions to the gravitating O(3) $σ$ model with cosmological constant in (2+1) dimensions. Both signs of the gravitational and cosmological constants are considered. Our solutions include geodesically complete spacetimes, and two classes of black holes.
We construct dynamical black ring solutions in the five dimensional Einstein-Maxwell system with a positive cosmological constant and investigate the geometrical structure. The solutions describe the physical process such that a thin black ring at early time shrinks and changes into a single black hole as time increase. We also discuss the multi-black rings and the coalescence of them.
We study black hole solutions in the Einstein gravity with Gauss-Bonnet term, the dilaton and a positive "cosmological constant" in various dimensions. Physically meaningful black holes with a positive cosmological term are obtained only for those in static spacetime with $(D-2)$-dimensional hyperbolic space of negative curvature and $D>4$. We construct such black hole solutions of various masses numerically in $D=5,6$ and 10 dimensional spacetime and discuss their properties. In spite of the positive cosmological constant the spacetime approach anti-de Sitter spacetime asymptotically. The bla…
