We classify all integrable triples in simple Lie algebras, up to equivalence. The importance of this problem stems from the fact that for each such equivalence class one can construct the corresponding integrable hierarchy of bi-Hamiltonian PDE. The simplest integrable triple $(f,0,e)$ in $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ corresponds to the KdV hierarchy, and the triple $(f,0,e_θ)$, where $f$ is the sum of negative simple root vectors and $e_θ$ is the highest root vector of a simple Lie algebra, corresponds to the Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy.
Exactly integrable systems connected to semisimple algebras of second rank with an arbitrary choice of grading are presented in explicit form. General solutions of these systems are expressed in terms of matrix elements of two fundamental representations of the corresponding semisimple groups.
All exactly integrable systems connected with the semisimple algebras of the second rank with an arbitrary choice of the grading in them are presented in explicit form. General solution of such systems are expressed in terms of the matrix elements of two fundamental representations of corresponding semisimple groups.
The present paper derives systems of partial differential equations that admit a quadratic zero curvature representation for an arbitrary real semisimple Lie algebra. It also determines the general form of Hamilton's principles and Hamiltonians for these systems and analyzes the linear stability of their equilibrium solutions in the examples of $\mathfrak{so}(3)$ and $\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{R})$.
It is shown that the Gel'fand-Tsetlin realization of irreducible representations of the $A_n$ algebra is directly connected with a linear exactly integrable system in the n-dimensional space. General solution for this system is explicitly given.
Let S be a compact, connected surface and H in C^2(T^* S) a Tonelli Hamiltonian. This note extends V. V. Kozlov's result on the Euler characteristic of S when H is real-analytically integrable, using a definition of topologically-tame integrability called semisimplicity. Theorem: If H is 2-semisimple, then S has non-negative Euler characteristic; if H is 1-semisimple and reversible, then S has positive Euler characteristic.
A one-to-one correspondence between triple Jordan systems and integrable multi-component models of the modified Korteveg--de Vries type is established.
A new class of integrable mappings and chains is introduced. Corresponding $(1+2)$ integrable systems invariant with respect to such discrete transformations are presented in an explicit form. Their soliton-type solutions are constructed in terms of matrix elements of fundamental representations of semisimple $A_n$ algebras for a given group element. The possibility of generalizing this construction to multi-dimensional case is discussed.
The exactly integrable systems connected with semisimple series $A$ for arbitrary grading are presented in explicit form. Their general solutions are expressed in terms of the matrix elements of various fundamental representations of $A_n$ groups. The simplest example of such systems is the generalized Toda chain with the matrices of arbitrary dimensions in each point of the lattice.
Starting from a so-called flat exact semisimple bihamiltonian structures of hydrodynamic type, we arrive at a Frobenius manifold structure and a tau structure for the associated principal hierarchy. We then classify the deformations of the principal hierarchy which possess tau structures.
Using the intertwining matrix of the IRF-Vertex correspondence we propose a determinant representation for the generating function of the commuting Hamiltonians of the double elliptic integrable system. More precisely, it is a ratio of the normally ordered determinants, which turns into a single determinant in the classical case. With its help we reproduce the recently suggested expression for the eigenvalues of the Hamiltonians for the dual to elliptic Ruijsenaars model. Next, we study the classical counterpart of our construction, which gives expression for the spectral curve and the corresp…
Integrable couplings are associated with non-semisimple Lie algebras. In this paper, we propose a new method to generate new integrable systems through making perturbation in matrix spectral problems for integrable couplings, which is called the `completion process of integrable couplings'. As an example, the idea of construction is applied to the Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur integrable coupling. Each equation in the resulting hierarchy has a bi-Hamiltonian structure furnished by the component-trace identity.
Yang-Baxter (YB) map systems (or set-theoretic analoga of entwining YB structures) are presented. They admit zero curvature representations with spectral parameter depended Lax triples L1, L2, L3 derived from symplectic leaves of 2 x 2 binomial matrices equipped with the Sklyanin bracket. A unique factorization condition of the Lax triple implies a 3-dimensional compatibility property of these maps. In case L1 = L2 = L3 this property yields the se--theoretic quantum Yang-Baxter equation, i.e. the YB map property. By considering periodic 'staircase' initial value problems on quadrilateral latti…
We enlarge the spectral problem of a generalized D-Kaup-Newell (D-KN) spectral problem. Solving the enlarged zero-curvature equations, we produce integrable couplings. A reduction of the spectral matrix leads to a second integrable coupling system. Next, bilinear forms that are symmetric, ad-invariant, and non-degenerate on the given non-semisimple matrix Lie algebra are computed to employ the variational identity. The variational identity is then applied to the original enlarged spectral problem of a generalized D-KN hierarchy and the reduced problem. Hamiltonian structures are presented, as …
For an arbitrary semisimple Frobenius manifold we construct Hodge integrable hierarchy of Hamiltonian partial differential equations. In the particular case of quantum cohomology the tau-function of a solution to the hierarchy generates the intersection numbers of the Gromov--Witten classes and their descendents along with the characteristic classes of Hodge bundles on the moduli spaces of stable maps. For the one-dimensional Frobenius manifold the Hodge hierarchy is a deformation of the Korteweg--de Vries hierarchy depending on an infinite number of parameters. Conjecturally this hierarchy is…
Interpretation of dispersionless integrable hierarchies as equations of coisotropic deformations for certain algebras and other algebraic structures like Jordan triple systInterpretation of dispersionless integrable hierarchies as equations of coisotropic deformations for certain algebras and other algebraic structures like Jordan triple systems is discussed. Several generalizations are considered. Stationary reductions of the dispersionless integrable equations are shown to be connected with the dynamical systems on the plane completely integrable on a fixed energy level. ems is discussed. Se…
We investigate algebraic properties of weakly commutative triples, appearing in the theory of integrable nonlinear partial differential equations. Algebraic technique of skew fields of formal pseudodifferential operators as well as skew Ore fields of fractions are applied to this problem, relating weakly commutative triples to commuting elements of skew Ore field of formal fractions of ordinary differential operators. A version of Burchnall-Chaundy theorem for weakly commutative triples is proved by algebraic means avoiding analytical complications typical for its proofs known in the theory of…
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a vector space and $[,],[,]'$ be a pair of Lie brackets on $\mathfrak{g}$. By definition they are compatible if $[,]+[,]'$ is again a Lie bracket. Such pairs play important role in bihamiltonian and $r$-matrix formalisms in the theory of integrable systems. We propose an approach to a long standing problem of classification of such pairs in the case when one of them, say $[,]$, is semisimple. It is known that any such pair is determined by a linear operator on $(\mathfrak{g},[,])$, which is defined up to adding a derivation. We propose a special fixing of this operator to…
The Hamiltonian representation for the hierarchy of Lax-type flows on a dual space to the Lie algebra of shift operators coupled with suitable eigenfunctions and adjoint eigenfunctions evolutions of associated spectral problems is found by means of a specially constructed Backlund transformation. The Hamiltonian description for the corresponding set of squared eigenfunction symmetry hierarchies is represented. The relation of these hierarchies with Lax integrable (2+1)-dimensional differential-difference systems and their triple Lax-type linearizations is analysed. The existence problem of a H…
We introduce the notion of Haantjes algebra: It consists of an assignment of a family of operator fields on a differentiable manifold, each of them with vanishing Haantjes torsion. They are also required to satisfy suitable compatibility conditions. Haantjes algebras naturally generalize several known interesting geometric structures, arising in Riemannian geometry and in the theory of integrable systems. At the same time, as we will show, they play a crucial role in the theory of diagonalization of operators on differentiable manifolds. Assuming that the operators of a Haantjes algebra are se…
We formulate the constrained KP hierarchy (denoted by \cKP$_{K+1,M}$) as an affine ${\widehat {sl}} (M+K+1)$ matrix integrable hierarchy generalizing the Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy. Using an algebraic approach, including the graded structure of the generalized Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy, we are able to find several new universal results valid for the \cKP hierarchy. In particular, our method yields a closed expression for the second bracket obtained through Dirac reduction of any untwisted affine Kac-Moody current algebra. An explicit example is given for the case ${\widehat {sl}} (M+K+1)$, fo…
We study structural aspects of the Ablowitz-Ladik (AL) hierarchy in the light of its realization as a two-component reduction of the two-dimensional Toda hierarchy, and establish new results on its connection to the Gromov-Witten theory of local CP1. We first of all elaborate on the relation to the Toeplitz lattice and obtain a neat description of the Lax formulation of the AL system. We then study the dispersionless limit and rephrase it in terms of a conformal semisimple Frobenius manifold with non-constant unit, whose properties we thoroughly analyze. We build on this connection along two m…
The theory of triples of Poisson brackets and related integrable systems, based on a classical R-matrix R in End_F(g), where g is a finite dimensional associative algebra over a field F viewed as a Lie algebra, was developed by Oevel-Ragnisco and Li-Parmentier [OR89,LP89]. In the present paper we develop an "affine" analogue of this theory by introducing the notion of a continuous Poisson vertex algebra and constructing triples of Poisson lambda-brackets. We introduce the corresponding Adler type identities and apply them to integrability of hierarchies of Hamiltonian PDEs.
We construct a hierarchy of integrable systems whose Poisson structure corresponds to the BMS$_{3}$ algebra, and then discuss its description in terms of the Riemannian geometry of locally flat spacetimes in three dimensions. The analysis is performed in terms of two-dimensional gauge fields for $isl(2,R)$. Although the algebra is not semisimple, the formulation can be carried out à la Drinfeld-Sokolov because it admits a nondegenerate invariant bilinear metric. The hierarchy turns out to be bi-Hamiltonian, labeled by a nonnegative integer $k$, and defined through a suitable generalization of …
Relations between triple Jordan systems and integrable multi-component models of the modified Korteveg--de Vries type are established. The most general model is related to a pair consisting of a triple Jordan system and a skew-symmetric bilinear operation. If this operation is a Lie bracket, then we arrive at the Lie-Jordan algebras
