We study the Hilbert scheme $\mathcal{H}$ of twisted cubics on a special smooth Gushel-Mukai threefolds $X_{10}$. We show that it is a smooth irreducible projective threefold if $X_{10}$ is general among special Gushel-Mukai threefolds, while it is singular if $X_{10}$ is not general. We construct an irreducible component of a moduli space of Bridgeland stable objects in the Kuznetsov component of $X_{10}$ as a divisorial contraction of $\mathcal{H}$. We also identify the minimal model of Fano surface $\mathcal{C}(X_{10}')$ of conics on a smooth ordinary Gushel-Mukai threefold with moduli space of Bridgeland stable objects in the Kuznetsov component of $X_{10}'$. As a result, we show that the Kuznetsov's Fano threefold conjecture is not true
We show that the stability conditions on the Kuznetsov component of a Gushel-Mukai threefold, constructed by Bayer, Lahoz, Macrì and Stellari, are preserved by the Serre functor, up to the action of the universal cover of $\text{GL}^+_2(\mathbb{R})$. As application, we construct stability conditions on the Kuznetsov component of special Gushel-Mukai fourfolds.
We construct new examples of rational Gushel-Mukai fourfolds, giving more evidence for the analog of the Kuznetsov Conjecture for cubic fourfolds: a Gushel--Mukai fourfold is rational if and only if it admits an associated K3 surface.
We show the existence of Gepner type Bridgeland stability conditions on the triangulated categories of graded matrix factorizations associated with homogeneous polynomials which define general cubic fourfolds containing a plane. The key ingredient is to describe the grade shift functor of matrix factorizations in terms of sheaves of Clifford algebras on the projective plane under Orlov/Kuznetsov equivalence.
We prove a general criterion which guarantees that an admissible subcategory $\mathcal{K}$ of the derived category of an abelian category is equivalent to the bounded derived category of the heart of a bounded t-structure. As a consequence, we show that $\mathcal{K}$ has a strongly unique dg enhancement, applying the recent results of Canonaco, Neeman and Stellari. We apply this criterion to the Kuznetsov component $\mathop{\mathcal{K}u}(X)$ when $X$ is a cubic fourfold, a Gushel--Mukai variety or a quartic double solid. In particular, we obtain that these Kuznetsov components have strongly un…
We prove that minimal instanton bundles on a Fano threefold $X$ of Picard rank one and index two are semistable objects in the Kuznetsov component $\mathsf{Ku}(X)$, with respect to the stability conditions constructed by Bayer, Lahoz, Macrì and Stellari. When the degree of $X$ is at least $3$, we show torsion free generalizations of minimal instantons are also semistable objects. As a result, we describe the moduli space of semistable objects with same numerical classes as minimal instantons in $\mathsf{Ku}(X)$. We also investigate the stability of acyclic extensions of non-minimal instantons.
We study Bridgeland moduli spaces of semistable objects of $(-1)$-classes and $(-4)$-classes in the Kuznetsov components on index one prime Fano threefold $X_{4d+2}$ of degree $4d+2$ and index two prime Fano threefold $Y_d$ of degree $d$ for $d=3,4,5$. For every Serre-invariant stability condition on the Kuznetsov components, we show that the moduli spaces of stable objects of $(-1)$-classes on $X_{4d+2}$ and $Y_d$ are isomorphic. We show that moduli spaces of stable objects of $(-1)$-classes on $X_{14}$ are realized by Fano surface $\mathcal{C}(X)$ of conics, moduli spaces of semistable sheav…
In this paper, we study relations between automorphism groups of cubic fourfolds and Kuznetsov components. Firstly, we characterize automorphism groups of cubic fourfolds as subgroups of autoequivalence groups of Kuznetsov components using Bridgeland stability conditions. Secondly, we compare automorphism groups of cubic fourfolds with automorphism groups of their associated K3 surfaces. Thirdly, we note that the existence of a non-trivial symplectic automorphism on a cubic fourfold is related to the existence of associated K3 surfaces.
We propose two conjectures on a moduli theoretic approach to constructing Lagrangian subvarieties of hyperkähler varieties arising from the Kuznetsov components of cubic fourfolds or Gushel--Mukai fourfolds. Then we verify the conjectures in several cases, recovering classical examples. As a corollary, we confirm a conjecture of O'Grady in several instances on the existence of Lagrangian covering families for hyperkähler varieties.
We develop a theory of Bridgeland stability conditions and moduli spaces of semistable objects for a family of varieties. Our approach is based on and generalizes previous work by Abramovich-Polishchuk, Kuznetsov, Lieblich, and Piyaratne-Toda. Our notion includes openness of stability, semistable reduction, a support property uniformly across the family, and boundedness of semistable objects. We show that such a structure exists whenever stability conditions are known to exist on the fibers. Our main application is the generalization of Mukai's theory for moduli spaces of semistable sheaves on…
A powerful tool of investigation of Fano varieties is provided by exceptional collections in their derived categories. Proving the fullness of such a collection is generally a nontrvial problem, usually solved on a case-by-case basis, with the aid of a deep understanding of the underlying geometry. Likewise, when an exceptional collection is not full, it is not straightforward to determine whether its "residual" category, i.e., its right orthogonal, is the derived category of a variety. We show how one can use the existence of Bridgeland stability condition these residual categories (when they…
We revisit the work of Lehn-Lehn-Sorger-van Straten on twisted cubic curves in a cubic fourfold not containing a plane in terms of moduli spaces. We show that the blow-up $Z'$ along the cubic of the irreducible holomorphic symplectic eightfold $Z$, described by the four authors, is isomorphic to an irreducible component of a moduli space of Gieseker stable torsion sheaves or rank three torsion free sheaves. For a very general such cubic fourfold, we show that $Z$ is isomorphic to a connected component of a moduli space of tilt-stable objects in the derived category and to a moduli space of Bri…
