Let $K$ be an algebraically closed field. Let $G$ be a non-trivial connected unipotent group, which acts effectively on an affine variety $X.$ Then every non-empty component $R$ of the set of fixed points of $G$ is a $K$-uniruled variety, i.e, there exists an affine cylinder $W\times K$ and a dominant, generically-finite polynomial mapping $ϕ:W\times K\rightarrow R.$ We show also that if an arbitrary infinite algebraic group $G$ acts effectively on $K^n$ and the set of fixed points contains a hypersurface $H$, then this hypersurface is $K$-uniruled.

The aim of this paper is to show that classical geometric invariant theory (GIT) has an effective analogue for linear actions of a non-reductive algebraic group $H$ with graded unipotent radical on a projective scheme $X$. We study the subvariety of fixed points of an automorphism of a Calogero-Moser space induced by a regular element of finite order of the normalizer of the associated complex reflection group $W$. We determine some of (and conjecturally all) the ${\mathbb{C}}^\times$-fixed points of its unique irreducible component of maximal dimension in terms of the character table of $W$. This is inspired by the mysterious relations between the geometry of Calogero-Moser spaces and unipotent representations of finite reductive groups, which will be the theme of a forthcoming paper.
In this paper we consider Deligne-Lusztig varieties and their analogues when the Frobenius endomorphism is replaced with conjugation by an element in a group, especially a regular semisimple or regular unipotent one. We calculate their classes in the Chow group of the flag variety in terms of Schubert classes. Also we give some sufficient criteria when different elements in the Weyl group result in the same class.

The classical additive Deligne-Simpson problem is the existence problem for Fuchsian connections with residues at the singular points in specified adjoint orbits. Crawley-Boevey found the solution in 2003 by reinterpreting the problem in terms of quiver varieties. In this paper, we prove that the set of all $F$-pure thresholds on a fixed germ of a strongly $F$-regular pair satisfies the ascending chain condition. As a corollary, we verify the ascending chain condition for the set of all $F$-pure thresholds on smooth varieties or, more generally, on varieties with tame quotient singularities, which is an affirmative answer to a conjecture given by Blickle, Mustaţǎ and Smith.
