In the inflation-based cosmology the dark matter (DM) density component starts moving with respect to the universal expansion at $z_{\rm eq}\sim 3,200$ while baryons remain frozen until $z_{\rm rec}\sim 1,100$. It has been suggested that in this case post-linear corrections to the evolution of small fluctuations would result, for the standard $Λ$-dominated cold DM (CDM) model, in delayed formation of early objects as supersonic advection flows develop after recombination, so baryons are not immediately captured by the DM gravity on small scales. We develop the hydrodynamical description of such two-component advection and show that, in the supersonic regime, the advection within irrotational fluids is governed by the gradient of the difference of the kinetic energies of the two (DM and baryonic here) components. We then apply this formalism to the case where DM is made up of LIGO-type black holes (BHs) and show that there the advection process on scales relevant for early structure collapse will differ significantly from the earlier discussed (CDM) case because of the additional granulation component to the density field produced during inflation. The advection here will lead efficiently to the common motion of the DM and baryon components on scales relevant for collapse and formation of first luminous sources. This leads to early collapse making easier to explain the existence of supermassive BHs observed in quasars at high $z>7$. The resultant net advection rate reaches minimum around $< 10^9M_\odot$ and subsequently rises to a secondary maximum near the typical mass of $\sim 10^{12}M_\odot$, which may be an important consideration for formation of galaxies at z<(a few).
The cosmological background of higher order vector modes can be generated by the first order scalar perturbations. We investigate the second order and the third order vector modes systematically. The explicit expressions of two point functions $\langle V^{(n),λ}V^{(n),λ'} \rangle$$\left(n=2,3\right)$ and power spectra corresponded are presented. In the case of a monochromatic primordial power spectrum, the second order vector modes do not exist. However, the third order vector modes can be generated by a monochromatic primordial power spectrum. And it is found that the third order vector modes…
Constraints on the main cosmological parameters using CMB or large scale structure data are usually based on power-law assumption of the primordial power spectrum (PPS). However, in the absence of a preferred model for the early universe, this raises a concern that current cosmological parameter estimates are strongly prejudiced by the assumed power-law form of PPS. In this paper, for the first time, we perform cosmological parameter estimation allowing the free form of the primordial spectrum. This is in fact the most general approach to estimate cosmological parameters without assuming any p…
We observationally examine cosmological models based on primordial power spectra with quantized wavevectors. Introducing a linearly quantized power spectrum with $k_0=3.225\times10^{-4}\mathrm{Mpc}^{-1}$ and spacing $Δk = 2.257 \times 10^{-4} \mathrm{Mpc}^{-1}$ provides a better fit to the Planck 2018 observations than the concordance baseline, with $Δχ^2 = -8.55$. Extending the results of Lasenby et al [1], we show that the requirement for perturbations to remain finite beyond the future conformal boundary in a universe containing dark matter and a cosmological constant results in a linearly …
Primordial black holes may have formed in the radiative era of the early Universe from the collapse of large enough amplitude perturbations of the metric. These correspond to non linear energy density perturbations characterized by an amplitude larger than a certain threshold, measured when the perturbations reenter the cosmological horizon. The process of primordial black hole formation is studied here within spherical symmetry, using the gradient expansion approximation in the long wavelength limit, where the pressure gradients are small, and the initial perturbations are functions only of a…
We briefly review the need to perform renormalization of inflationary perturbations to properly work out the physical power spectra. We also summarize the basis of (momentum-space) renormalization in curved spacetime and address several misconceptions found in recent literature on this subject.
In a recent article R. T. Cahill claims that the cosmological model based on his "new physics of a dynamical 3-space" resolves the CMB-BBN Lithium-7 and Helium-4 abundance anomalies. In this note it is shown that this conclusion is wrong, resulting from a misunderstanding. In fact, primordial nucleosynthesis in this non-standard cosmological model exacerbates the LIthium-7 problem and creates new problems for primordial Helium-4 and Deuterium.
We study limits on a primordial magnetic field arising from cosmological data, including that from big bang nucleosynthesis, cosmic microwave background polarization plane Faraday rotation limits, and large-scale structure formation. We show that the physically-relevant quantity is the value of the effective magnetic field, and limits on it are independent of how the magnetic field was generated.
We study effects on the luminosity distance of a local inhomogeneity seeded by primordial curvature perturbations of the type predicted by the inflationary scenario and constrained by the cosmic microwave background radiation. We find that a local underdensity originated from a one, two or three standard deviations peaks of the primordial curvature perturbations field can induce corrections to the value of a cosmological constant of the order of $0.6%,1%,1.5%$ respectively. These effects cannot be neglected in the precision cosmology era in which we are entering. Our results can be considered …
Recently alternative approaches in cosmology seeks to explain the nature of dark matter as a direct result of the non-linear spacetime curvature due to different types of deformation potentials. In this context, a key test for this hypothesis is to examine the effects of deformation on the evolution of large scales structures. An important requirement for the fine analysis of this pure gravitational signature (without dark matter elements) is to characterize the position of a galaxy during its trajectory to the gravitational collapse of super clusters at low redshifts. In this context, each el…
In the pre-recombination era, cosmological density fluctuations can naturally generate magnetic fields through Thomson scatterings. In previous studies, only the magnetic field generation from the initially-adiabatic fluctuations has been considered. Here we investigate the generation of cosmological magnetic fields sourced by the primordial non-adiabatic fluctuations based on the cosmological perturbation theory, using the tight-coupling approximations between photon and baryon fluids. It is found that the magnetic fields from the non-adiabatic fluctuations can arise at the first-order expans…
Cosmological magnetic helicity has been thought to be a fundamental agent for magnetic field amplification in the universe. More recently Semikoz and Sokoloff [Phys Rev Lett 92 (2004): 131.301.] showed that the weakness of the seed fields did not necessarily imply the weakness of magnetic cosmological helicity. In this paper we present a derivation of dynamo equation based upon the flat torsion photon non-minimal coupling through Riemann-Cartan spacetime. From this derivation one computes the necessary conditions for a flat torsion field to generate a galactic dynamo seed, from the cosmologica…
Features in the inflationary landscape can inject extra energies to inflation models and produce on-shell particles with masses much larger than the Hubble scale of inflation. This possibility extends the energy reach of the program of cosmological collider physics, in which signals associated with these particles are generically Boltzmann-suppressed. We study the mechanisms of this classical cosmological collider in two categories of primordial features. In the first category, the primordial feature is classical oscillation, which includes the case of coherent oscillation of a massive field a…
For the current central values of the Higgs and top masses, the Standard Model Higgs potential develops an instability at a scale of the order of $10^{11}$ GeV. We show that a cosmological signature of such instability could be dark matter in the form of primordial black holes seeded by Higgs fluctuations during inflation. The existence of dark matter might not require physics beyond the Standard Model.
The observables of the perturbed universe, CMB anisotropy and large structures, depend on a set of cosmological parameters, as well as, the assumed nature of primordial perturbations. In particular, the shape of the primordial power spectrum (PPS) is, at best, a well motivated assumption. It is known that the assumed functional form of the PPS in cosmological parameter estimation can affect the best fit parameters and their relative confidence limits. In this paper, we demonstrate that a specific assumed form actually drives the best fit parameters into distinct basins of likelihood in the spa…
In the presence of the primordial magnetic field, initial vector (vorticity) perturbations produce cosmological Alfven waves and leave imprints on cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature and polarization anisotropy. We have investigated imprints of cosmological Alfven waves in CMB anisotropy. For data constraints, we have used the power spectrum of the recent CMB observations, and correlations estimated from WMAP Internal Linear Combination (ILC) maps. Our analysis shows 3 sigma evidence of cosmological Alfven waves. Using the 3 sigma limit from our analysis and the Alfven velocity limit…
If there exist higher-spin particles during inflation which are light compared to the Hubble rate, they may leave distinct statistical anisotropic imprints on the correlators involving scalar and graviton fluctuations. We characterise such signatures using the dS/CFT$_3$ correspondence and the operator product expansion techniques. In particular, we obtain generic results for the case of partially massless higher-spin states.

We outline a new explanation for the primordial density perturbations in cosmology. Dimension zero fields are a minimal addition to the Standard Model of particle physics: if the Higgs doublet is emergent, they cancel the vacuum energy and both Weyl anomalies without introducing any new particles. Furthermore, the cancellation explains why there are three generations of elementary particles, including RH neutrinos. We show how quantum zero point fluctuations of dimension zero fields seed nearly scale-invariant, Gaussian, adiabatic density perturbations. We calculate the amplitude of the primor…
During its early evolution the Universe provided a laboratory to probe fundamental physics at high energies. Relics from those early epochs, such as the light elements synthesized during primordial nucleosynthesis when the Universe was only a few minutes old, and the cosmic background photons, last scattered when the protons (and alphas) and electrons (re)combined some 400 thousand years later, may be used to probe the standard models of cosmology and of particle physics. The internal consistency of primordial nucleosynthesis is tested by comparing the predicted and observed abundances of the …
In prerecombination resolutions of the Hubble tension, such as early dark energy, new physics before recombination shifts the values of relevant cosmological parameters so that the models can fit with cosmic microwave background and baryon acoustic oscillations observations as well as $Λ$CDM does. In this paper, we clarify how the parameter shifts are related with $δH_0$, particularly we find the shift of primordial scalar spectral index scales as ${δn_s}\simeq 0.4{δH_0\over H_0}$ by performing the Monte Carlo Markov chain analysis with the Planck2018+BAO+Pantheon+R19+Keck Array/BICEP dataset.…
A unique feature of gravity is its ability to control the information accessible to any specific observer. We quantify the notion of cosmic information ('CosmIn') for an eternal observer in the universe. Demanding the finiteness of CosmIn requires the universe to have a late-time accelerated expansion. Combining the introduction of CosmIn with generic features of the quantum structure of spacetime (e.g., the holographic principle), we present a holistic model for cosmology. We show that (i) the numerical value of the cosmological constant, as well as (ii) the amplitude of the primordial, scale…
Future galaxy redshift surveys aim at probing the clustering of the cosmic large-scale structure with unprecedented accuracy, thus complementing cosmic microwave background experiments in the quest to deliver the most precise and accurate picture ever of our Universe. Analyses of such measurements are usually performed within the context of the so-called vanilla LCDM model - the six-parameter phenomenological model which, for instance, emerges from best fits against the recent data obtained by the Planck satellite. Here, we show that such an approach is prone to subtle systematics when the Gau…
Primordial black holes (PBHs) could account for all or part of dark matter, as well as for some LIGO events. We discuss the spins of primordial black holes produced in different cosmological scenarios, with the emphasis on recently discovered possibilities. PBHs produced as a horizon-size collapse of density perturbations are known to have very small spins. In contrast, PBHs resulting from assembly of matterlike objects (particles, Q-balls, oscillons, etc.) can have large or small spins depending on their formation history and the efficiency of radiative cooling. We show that scalar radiation …
We update the constraints on the fraction of the Universe going into primordial black holes in the mass range 10^9--10^17 g associated with the effects of their evaporations on big bang nucleosynthesis and the extragalactic photon background. We include for the first time all the effects of quark and gluon emission by black holes on these constraints and account for the latest observational developments. We then discuss the other constraints in this mass range and show that these are weaker than the nucleosynthesis and photon background limits, apart from a small range 10^13--10^14 g, where th…
The possibility that a relevant fraction of the dark matter might be comprised of Primordial Black Holes (PBHs) has been seriously reconsidered after LIGO's detection of a $\sim 30 M_{\odot}$ binary black holes merger. Despite the strong interest in the model, there is a lack of studies on possible cosmological implications and effects on cosmological parameters inference. We investigate correlations with the other standard cosmological parameters using cosmic microwave background observations, finding significant degeneracies, especially with the tilt of the primordial power spectrum and the …
The redshift dependence of the abundance of galaxy clusters is very sensitive to the statistical properties of primordial density perturbations. It can thus be used to probe small deviations from Gaussian initial conditions. Such deviations constitute a very important signature of many inflationary scenarios, and are thus expected to provide crucial information on physical processes which took place in the very early Universe. We have determined the biases which may be introduced in the estimation of cosmological parameters by wrongly assuming the absence of primordial non-Gaussianities. Altho…
5D models with one 3D brane and one infinite extra dimension are studied. Matter is confined to the brane, gravity extends to the bulk. Models with positive and negative tension of the brane are studied. Cosmological solutions on the brane are obtained by solving the generalized Friedmann equation. As the input in cosmological solutions we use the present-time observational cosmological parameters. We find constraints on dimensionless combinations of scales of 5D models which follow from the requirement that the models reproduce the data on production of ${}^4 He$ in primordial nucleosynthesis…
Primordial black holes (PBHs) in the mass range $10^{17} - 10^{23}~{\rm gm}$ are considered as possible dark matter candidates as they are not subject to big-bang nucleosynthesis constraints and behave like cold dark matter. If PBHs are indeed dark matter, they cannot be treated as isolated objects in asymptotic flat space-time. Furthermore, when compared to stellar-mass black holes, the rate at which the Hawking particles radiate out from PBHs is significantly faster. In this work, we obtain an exact time-dependent solution that models evaporating black holes in the cosmological background. A…
This work investigates the formation of primordial black holes within a radiation fluid with an anisotropic pressure. We focus our attention on the initial conditions describing cosmological perturbations in the super horizon regime, using a covariant form of the equation of state in terms of pressure and energy density gradients. The effect of the anisotropy is to modify the initial shape of the cosmological perturbations with respect to the isotropic case. Using the dependence of the threshold $δ_\mathrm{c}$ for primordial black holes with respect to the shape of cosmological perturbations, …
CMB (Cosmic Microwave Background) polarization observations test many aspects of cosmological models. Effective pseudoscalar-photon interaction(s) would induce a rotation of linear polarization of electromagnetic wave propagating with cosmological distance in various cosmological models. CMB polarization observations are superb tests of these models and have the potential to discover new fundamental physics. Pseudoscalar-photon interaction is proportional to the gradient of the pseudoscalar field. From phenomenological point of view, this gradient could be neutrino number asymmetry, other dens…
Possible existence of the primordial magnetic fields has affected the structure formation of the universe. In this paper it is shown that the initial conditions for density perturbations with magnetic fields derived in previous works are inconsistent with Einstein equations. We find that this inconsistency arises due to the unwanted cancellation of contributions from the magnetic fields and primordial radiations. A complete set of equations and consistent initial conditions in the long wavelength limit are given with an explicit derivation in the covariant approach with CDM frame, by newly tak…
Phase transitions in the early universe can readily create an observable stochastic gravitational wave background. We show that such a background necessarily contains anisotropies analogous to those of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) of photons, and that these too may be within reach of proposed gravitational wave detectors. Correlations within the gravitational wave anisotropies and their cross-correlations with the CMB can provide new insights into the mechanism underlying primordial fluctuations, such as multi-field inflation, as well as reveal the existence of non-standard ``hidden s…
The best-fit values of the density parameter and the amplitude of the linear density power spectrum obtained from the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature field scanned by the Planck satellite are found to notably disagree with those estimated from the abundance of galaxy clusters observed in the local universe. Basically, the observed cluster counts are significantly lower than the prediction of the standard flat LambdaCDM model with the key cosmological parameters set at the Planck best-fit values. We show that this inconsistency between the local and the early universe can be well …
Primordial cosmological perturbations are the seeds that were cultivated by inflation and the succeeding dynamical processes, eventually leading to the current Universe. In this work, we investigate the behavior of the gauge-invariant scalar and tensor perturbations under the general extended disformal transformation, namely, $g_{μν} \rightarrow A(X,Y,Z)g_{μν} + Φ_μΦ_ν$, where $X \equiv -\tfrac{1}{2}ϕ^{;μ}ϕ_{;μ}, Y \equiv ϕ^{;μ}X_{;μ}, Z \equiv X^{;μ}X_{;μ} $ and $Φ_μ\equiv Cϕ_{;μ} + DX_{;μ}$, with $C$ and $D$ being a general functional of $(ϕ,X,Y,Z)$. We find that the tensor perturbation is i…
The decay of non-topological electroweak strings formed during the electroweak phase transition in the early universe may leave an observable imprint in the universe today. Such strings can naturally seed primordial magnetic fields. Protogalaxies then tend to form with their axis of rotation parallel to the external magnetic field, and moreover, the external magnetic field produces torque which forces the galaxy axis to align with the magnetic field, even if the two axis were not aligned initially. This can explain an (observed, but as of yet unexplained) alignment of the quasars' polarization…
We investigate possible signatures of a pre-inflationary anisotropic phase in two-point and three-point correlation functions of the curvature perturbation for high-momentum modes which exit the horizon after isotropization. In this momentum regime, the early time dynamics admits a WKB description and the late time dynamics can be described in terms of a non-Bunch Davies vacuum state which encodes the information of initial anisotropy in the background spacetime. We compute the bi-spectrum for curvature perturbation in a canonical single-field action with and without higher derivative operator…
One of the important light elements created during the big bang nucleosynthesis is Be-7 which then decays to Li-7 by electron capture when recombination becomes effective but well before the Saha equilibrium recombination is reached. This means that Be-7 should wait until its recombination epoch even though the half-life of the hydrogenic beryllium atom is only 106.4 days. We calculate when the conversion from primordial Be-7 to Li-7 occurs taking into account the population of the hyperfine structure sublevels and solving the kinetic equations for recombination, photoionization and conversion…
We introduce a new family of primordial cosmological perturbations that are not described by traditional power spectra. At the linear level, these perturbations live in the kernel of the spatial Laplacian operator, and thus we call them cosmological zero modes. We compute the cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature and polarization anisotropy induced by these modes, and forecast their detection sensitivity using a cosmic-variance limited experiment. In particular, we consider two configurations for the zero modes: The first configuration consists of stochastic metric perturbations descri…
The aim of this thesis is to study the effects on the CMB anisotropy due to primordial magnetic fields and to analyze some favorable scenarios of magnetogenesis constrained by those signatures, including limits on the amplitude of the fields from bounds on CMB non-Gaussianity and background models. In fact, we found out that helicity in the fields plays an important role in the analysis PMFs origin, by generating significant features in the cross-correlation polarization pattern and the increasing of the signal in the reduced CMB bispectrum. In the latter case, we reported that non-causal fiel…
