The electric charge transport in a weakly magnetized hot QCD medium has been investigated in the presence of an external inhomogeneous electric field. The current densities (electric and Hall)induced by the inhomogeneous electric field have been estimated in the regime where space-time inhomogeneity of the field is small so that the collisional effect in the medium cannot be neglected. The collisional aspect of the medium has been captured by employing both relaxation time approximation and Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook collision kernel in the relativistic Boltzmann equation. The magnetic field, momentum anisotropy, and quark chemical potential dependences of the electric current and Hall current densities have been explored, and the impacts on the respective conductivities have been studied. The inhomogeneities of the field are seen to have sizable effects on the electromagnetic responses of the collisional medium.
In the fractional nonrelativistic potential model, the decomposition of heavy quarkonium in a hot magnetized medium is investigated. The analytical solution of the fractional radial Schrodinger equation for the hot-magnetized interaction potential is displayed by using the conformable fractional Nikiforov-Uvarov method. Analytical expressions for the energy eigenvalues and the radial wave function are obtained for arbitrary quantum numbers. Next, we study the charmonium and bottmonium binding energies for different magnetic field values in the thermal medium. The effect of the fractional param…
A quark-magnetic Ginzburg-Landau (qHGL) gradient expansion of the free energy of two-flavor inhomogeneous quark matter in a magnetic field $H$ is derived analytically. It can be applied away from the Lifshitz point, generalizing standard Ginzburg-Landau techniques. The thermodynamic potential is written as a sum of the thermal contribution, the non-thermal lowest Landau level contribution, and the non-thermal qHGL functional, which handles any arbitrary position-dependent periodic modulation of the chiral condensate as an input. The qHGL approximation has two main practical features: (1) it is…
We study the effect of a strong constant magnetic field, generated in relativistic heavy ion collisions, on the heavy quark complex potential. We work in the strong magnetic field limit with the lowest Landau level approximation. We find that the screening of the real part of the potential increases with the increase in the magnetic field. Therefore, we expect less binding of the $ Q\bar{Q} $ pair in the presence of a strong magnetic field. The imaginary part of the potential increases in magnitude with the increase in the magnetic field, leading to an increase of the width of the quarkonium s…
The thermoelectric behaviour of quark-gluon plasma has been studied within the framework of an effective kinetic theory by adopting a quasiparticle model to incorporate the thermal medium effects. The thermoelectric response of the medium has been quantified in terms of the Seebeck coefficient. The dependence of the collisional aspects of the QCD medium on the Seebeck coefficient has been estimated by utilizing relaxation time approximation and Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook collision kernels in the effective Boltzmann equation. The thermoelectric coefficient is seen to depend on the quark chemical pot…
We investigate the mass-shift of $P$-wave charmonium (${χ_c}_0$, ${χ_c}_1$) and $S$ and $P$-wave bottomonium ($η_b$, $Υ$, ${χ_b}_0$ and ${χ_b}_1$) states in magnetized hot asymmetric nuclear matter using the unification of QCD sum rules (QCDSR) and chiral $SU(3)$ model. Within QCDSR, we use two approaches, $i.e.$, moment sum rule and Borel sum rule. The magnetic field induced scalar gluon condensate $\left\langle \frac{α_{s}}π G^a_{μν} {G^a}^{μν} \right\rangle$ and the twist-2 gluon operator $\left\langle \frac{α_{s}}π G^a_{μσ} {{G^a}_ν}^σ \right\rangle $ calculated in chiral $SU(3$) model are…
Transport properties of dense quark matter are discussed in the strong magnetic field, B. B dependence as well as density dependence of the Hall conductivity is discussed in the inhomogeneous chiral phase. Anomalous Hall effect is intrinsic to the inhomogeneous chiral phase and resembles the one in Weyl semimetals in condensed matter physics. Some theoretical aspects inherent in anomalous Hall effect are revealed.
We investigate the mass-shift of vector channel $J/ψ$ and pseudoscalar channel $η_c$ in strongly magnetized asymmetric nuclear medium at finite temperature using the conjunction of chiral $SU(3)$ model with the QCD sum rules. The magnetic field dependence of scalar gluon condensate $\left\langle \frac{α_{s}}π G^a_{μν} {G^a}^{μν} \right\rangle$ as well as the twist-2 gluon condensate $\left\langle \frac{α_{s}}π G^a_{μσ} {{G^a}_ν}^σ \right\rangle $ calculated from chiral SU($3$) model, are implemented in QCD sum rules to calculate the magnetic field dependence of $J/ψ$ and $η_c$ meson masses. Th…
Using the Polyakov--Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model the strange quark chiral phase transition and the effect of its current mass on a hot magnetized three flavor quark matter at zero chemical potential is investigated. The impact of the 't Hooft mixing term on the restoration of the chiral symmetry on the light and strange sectors is studied and the critical temperature dependence on the magnetic field strength of the chiral strange transition is analyzed. It is shown that the s quark is much less sensitive to the magnetic field than the light quarks. Due to the 't Hooft term, it has a strong influe…
A magnetic field independent regularization scheme (zMFIR) based on the Hurwitz-Riemann zeta function is introduced. The new technique is applied to the regularization of the mean-field thermodynamic potential and mass gap equation within the SU(2) Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model in a hot and magnetized medium. The equivalence of the new and the standard MFIR scheme is demonstrated. The neutral meson pole mass is calculated in a hot and magnetized medium and the advantages of using the new regularization scheme are shown.
The effects of longitudinal bulk viscous pressure on the heavy quark dynamics have been estimated in a strongly magnetized quark-gluon plasma within the Fokker-Planck approach. The bulk viscous modification to the momentum distribution of bulk degrees of freedom has been obtained in the presence of a magnetic field while incorporating the realistic equation of state of the hot magnetized QCD medium. As the magnetic field breaks the isotropy of the medium, the analysis is done along the directions longitudinal and transverse to the field. The longitudinal bulk viscous contribution is seen to ha…
In this work we investigate the combined finite-size and thermomagnetic effects on the properties of neutral mesons in a hot medium, in the context of the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. In particular, by using the mean-field approximation and the Schwinger proper time method in a toroidal topology with antiperiodic conditions, we evaluate the chiral phase transition, the constituent quark mass and meson observables like the $π^0$ and $σ$ meson masses and pion decay constant under the change of the size, temperature, chemical potential and strength of external magnetic field. The results indicate t…
The longitudinal current density induced by the inhomogeneous electric field in the hot magnetized quark-gluon plasma has been investigated and utilized in obtaining the conductivity of the medium. The analysis has been done in the regime where inhomogeneity of the field is small so that the collision effect could be significant. The modeling of the QCD medium is based on a quasiparticle description where the medium effects have been encoded in the effective quarks, antiquarks and gluons. The temperature dependence of the linear longitudinal current density (in terms of the electric field) and…
In this article, we calculate the mass shift and decay constant of isospin averaged pseudoscalar ($D^+$,$D^0$) and scalar ($D^+_0$,$D^0_0$) mesons by the magnetic field induced quark and gluon condensates at finite density and temperature of asymmetric nuclear matter. We have calculated the in-medium chiral condensates from the chiral SU(3) mean field model and subsequently used these condensates in QCD Sum Rules (QCDSR) to calculate the effective mass and decay constant of $D$ mesons. Consideration of external magnetic field effects in hot and dense nuclear matter lead to appreciable modifica…
Recently there is a resurrection in the study of heavy quark bound states in a hot and baryonless matter with an ambient magnetic field but the matter produced at heavy-ion collider experiments is not perfectly baryonless, so we wish to explore the effect of small baryon asymmetry on the properties of heavy quarkonia immersed in a strongly magnetized hot quark matter. Therefore, we have first revisited the structure of gluon self-energy tensor in the above environment to compute the resummed propagator for gluons. This resummed propagator embodies the properties of medium, which gets translate…
It is analyzed the effects of a hot and magnetized medium on the axion mass, self-coupling and topological susceptibility when in presence of an anisotropic external magnetic field along the $z$-direction, within the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio effective model for quantum chromodynamics. The effects of both Magnetic Catalysis and Inverse Magnetic Catalysis are explicitly taken into account through appropriate matching of parameters with those from lattice Monte-Carlo numerical simulations. It is also analyzed the dependence of the results with respect to different model parametrizations in the context…

The process of photon splitting is investigated in the presence of strongly magnetized electron-positron plasma. The amplitude of the process is calculated in general case of plasma with nonzero chemical potential and temperature. The polarization selection rules and corresponding partial amplitudes for allowed splitting channels are obtained in the case of charge-symmetric plasma. It is found that the new splitting channel forbidden in magnetized vacuum becomes allowed. The absorption rates of the photon splitting are calculated with taking into account of the photon dispersion and wave funct…
We investigate the screening masses of neutral pions and sigma mesons in hot and magnetized quark matter in the framework of a two-flavor lattice-improved Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model with a magnetic field dependent coupling constant, which is determined by utilizing the results from lattice QCD simulations. Since such model can well reproduce inverse magnetic catalysis (IMC), by comparing with the standard NJL model, we systemically analyze the impacts of IMC on the temperature and magnetic field dependences of the longitudinal and transverse screening masses of the chiral partners, i.e. π^…
The properties of non-interacting $σ$ and $π^{0}$ mesons are studied at finite temperature, chemical potential and in the presence of a constant magnetic field. To do this, the energy dispersion relations of these particles, including nontrivial form factors, are derived using a derivative expansion of the effective action of a two-flavor, hot and magnetized Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model up to second order. The temperature dependence of the pole and screening masses as well as the directional refraction indices of magnetized neutral mesons are explored for fixed magnetic fields and chemical …
We have systematically constructed the general structure of the gauge boson self-energy and the effective propagator in presence of a nontrivial background like hot magnetized material medium. Based on this as well as the general structure of fermion propagator in weakly magnetized medium we have calculated pressure of deconfined QCD matter within HTL approximation.
The complete quasi-particle spectrum of a magnetized electromagnetic plasma is systematically explored at zero and nonzero temperatures. To this purpose, the general structure of the one-loop corrected propagator of magnetized fermions is determined, and the dispersion relations arising from the pole of this propagator are numerically solved. It turns out that in the lowest Landau level, where only one spin direction is allowed, the spectrum consists of one positively (negatively) charged fermionic mode with positive (negative) spin. In contrast, in higher Landau levels, as an indirect consequ…
The rate of dilepton emission from a magnetized hot hadronic medium is calculated in the framework of real time formalism of finite temperature field theory. We evaluate the one loop self-energy of neutral rho-meson containing thermo-magnetic propagators for the charged pions in the loop. The in-medium thermo-magnetic spectral function of rho obtained by solving the Dyson-Schwinger equation is shown to be proportional to the dilepton production rate. The study of the analytic structure of the neutral rho-meson spectral function in such a medium shows that in addition to the usual contribution …
A phenomenological pion-nucleon interaction is used to obtain pionic mass modification in presence of constant homogeneous magnetic field background at finite temperature and chemical potential in the real time formalism of thermal field theory. The magnetically modified propagator in its complete form is used to obtain the one loop self-energy for pions. For charged pions we find that the effective mass increases with the magnetic field at given temperature and chemical potential. Since the transverse momentum of charged pion is quantized and its contribution to Dyson-Schwinger Equation is la…
Based on transversality condition of gauge boson self-energy we have systematically constructed the general structure of the gauge boson two-point functions using four linearly independent basis tensors in presence of a nontrivial background, i.e., hot magnetized material medium. The hard thermal loop approximation has been used for the heat bath to compute various form factors associated with the gauge boson's two point functions both in strong and weak field approximation. We have also analyzed the dispersion of a gauge boson (e.g., gluon) using the effective propagator both in strong and we…
Various thermodynamic quantities and the phase diagram of strongly interacting hot and dense magnetized quark matter are obtained with the $ 2 $-flavour Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with Polyakov loop considering finite values of the anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of the quarks. Susceptibilities associated with constituent quark mass and traced Polyakov loop are used to evaluate chiral and deconfinement transition temperatures. It is found that, inclusion of the AMM of the quarks in presence of the background magnetic field results in a substantial decrease in the chiral as well as deconfinement …
We argue that the existence of an inhomogeneous external magnetic field can lead to radial flow in transverse plane. Our aim is to show how the introduction of a magnetic field generalizes the Bjorken flow. We investigate the effect of an inhomogeneous weak external magnetic field on the transverse expansion of in-viscid fluid created in high energy nuclear collisions. In order to simplify our calculation and compare with Gubser model, we consider the fluid under investigation to be produced in central collisions, at small impact parameter; azimuthal symmetry has been considered. In our model,…
We have computed the hard dilepton production rate from a weakly magnetized deconfined QCD medium within one-loop photon self-energy by considering one hard and one thermomagnetic resummed quark propagator in the loop. In the presence of the magnetic field, the resummed propagator leads to four quasiparticle modes. The production of hard dileptons consists of rates when all four quasiquarks originating from the poles of the propagator individually annihilate with a hard quark coming from a bare propagator in the loop. Besides these, there are also contributions from a mixture of pole and Landa…
We consider weakly magnetized hot QED plasma comprising electrons and positrons. There are three distinct dispersive (longitudinal and two transverse) modes of a photon in a thermo-magnetic medium. At lowest order in coupling constant, photon is damped in this medium via Compton scattering and pair creation process. We evaluate the damping rate of hard photon by calculating the imaginary part of the each transverse dispersive modes in a thermo-magnetic QED medium. We note that one of the fermions in the loop of one-loop photon self-energy is considered as soft and the other one is hard. Consid…
This paper introduces a systematic treatment of the linear theory of scalar gravitational perturbations in the presence of a fully inhomogeneous magnetic field. The analysis is conducted both in the synchronous and in the conformally Newtonian gauges. The cosmological plasma is assumed to be composed of cold dark mattter, baryons, photons, neutrinos. The problem of super-horizon initial conditions for the fluid variables of the various species and for the coupled system of Boltzmann-Einstein equations is discussed in the presence of an inhomogeneous magnetic field. The tight coupling approxima…
The expulsion of magnetic flux lines from a growing superconducting core of a quark star has been investigated. The idea of impurity diffusion in molten alloys and an identical mechanism of baryon number transport from hot quark-gluon-plasma phase to hadronic phase during quark-hadron phase transition in the early universe, micro-second after big bang has been used. The possibility of Mullins-Sekerka normal-superconducting interface instability has also been studied.
The thermodynamic properties of a non-interacting ideal Hadron Resonance Gas (HRG) of finite volume have been studied in the presence of an external magnetic field. The inclusion of background magnetic field in the calculation of thermodynamic potential is done by the modification of the dispersion relations of the charged hadrons in terms of Landau quantization. The generalized Matsubara prescription has been employed to take into account the finite size effects in which a periodic (anti-periodic) boundary conditions is considered for the mesons (baryons). We find significant effects of the m…
A two-flavor color superconducting (2SC) Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model is introduced at finite temperature T, chemical potential mu and in the presence of a constant magnetic field eB. The effect of (T,mu,eB) on the formation of chiral and color symmetry breaking condensates is studied. The complete phase portrait of the model in T-mu, mu-eB, and T-eB phase spaces for various fixed eB, T, and mu is explored. A threshold magnetic field eB_t~ 0.5 GeV^2 is found above which the dynamics of the system is solely dominated by the lowest Landau level (LLL) and the effects of T and mu are partly com…
We study the propagation of a neutrino in a medium that consists of two or more thermal backgrounds of electrons and nucleons moving with some relative velocity, in the presence of a static and homogeneous electromagnetic field. We calculate the neutrino self-energy and dispersion relation using the linear thermal Schwinger propagator, we give the formulas for the dispersion relation and discuss general features of the results obtained, in particular the effects of the stream contributions. As a specific example we discuss in some detail the case of a magnetized two-stream electron, i.e., two …
The in-medium properties of $η$ mesons are studied in hot and dense isospin asymmetric strange magnetized matter using the chiral SU(3) hadronic mean-field model. The scalar and vector density of baryons are expressed in terms of thermal distribution functions at finite temperature and magnetic field and have dependence on the scalar fields $σ$, $ζ$, and $δ$ through the effective mass of baryons and the dependence on the vector fields $ω, ρ$, and $ϕ$ through the effective chemical potential. The properties of $η$ mesons get modified in a hot and dense magnetized environment through the medium-…
The electrical and Hall conductivities in a uniform magnetic field are evaluated for an interacting pion gas using the kinetic theory approach within the ambit of relaxation time approximation (RTA). The in-medium cross sections vis-a-vis the relaxation time for $ππ$ scattering are obtained using a one-loop modified thermal propagator for the exchanged $ρ$ and $σ$ mesons using thermal field theoretic techniques. For higher values of the magnetic field, a monotonic increase of the electrical conductivity with the temperature is observed. However, for a given temperature the conductivity is foun…
The masses of open bottom mesons ($B$($B^+$,$B^0$), $\bar{B}$($B^-$,$\bar{B^0}$), $B_s$(${B_{s}}^0$, $\bar{{B_s}^0}$)) and upsilon states ($Υ(1S)$, $Υ(2S)$, $Υ(3S)$, $Υ(4S)$, and $Υ(1D)$) are investigated in the isospin asymmetric strange hadronic medium at finite temperature in the presence of strong magnetic fields using a chiral effective Lagrangian approach. For charged baryons, the magnetic field introduces contribution from Landau energy levels. The masses of the open bottom mesons get modified through their interactions with the baryons and the scalar mesons, which undergo modifications…
Dilepton production rate (DPR) from hot and dense quark matter is studied in the presence of an arbitrary external magnetic field using the 2-flavour Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model. The anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) of the quarks is taken into consideration while calculating the constituent quark mass as well as the DPR from the thermo-magnetic medium. An infinite number of quark Landau levels is incorporated so that no approximations are made on the strength of the background magnetic field. The analytic structure of the two point vector current correlation function in the complex energy p…
We observed the impact of finite magnetic field on the in-medium mass and decay constant of isospin averaged vector $D^*(D^{*^+},D^{*^0})$ and axial-vector $D_1(D^+_1, D^0_1)$ mesons. The quark and gluon condensates of the nuclear medium at finite magnetic field, temperature, isospin asymmetry, and density have been obtained by the meson exchange scalar fields within the chiral SU(3) model. The medium attributes modify the scalar and vector density of nuclear medium and this variation reflects in the in-medium mass and decay constant of spin 1 $D$ mesons. We calculate these observables by comp…
The expressions of the shear viscosity and the bulk viscosity components in the presence of an arbitrary external magnetic field for a system of hot charged scalar Bosons (spin-0) as well as for a system of hot charged Dirac Fermions (spin-$\frac{1}{2}$) have been derived by employing the one-loop Kubo Formalism. This is done by explicitly evaluating the thermo-magnetic spectral functions of the energy momentum tensors using the real time formalism of finite temperature field theory and the Schwinger proper time formalism. In the present work, a rich quantum field theoretical structure in the …
Metastable CP-odd domains of the hot QCD matter are coupled to QED via the chiral anomaly. The topology of electromagnetic field in these domains is characterized by magnetic helicity. It is argued, using the Maxwell-Chern-Simons model, that spatial inhomogeneity of the domains induces spontaneous transitions of electromagnetic field between the opposite magnetic helicity states.
We study the properties of a hot and magnetized quark matter in a rotating cylinder in the presence of a constant magnetic field. To do this, we solve the corresponding Dirac equation using the Ritus eigenfunction method. This leads to the energy dispersion relation, Ritus eigenfunctions, and the quantization relation for magnetized fermions. To avoid causality-violating effects, we impose a certain global boundary condition, and study its effect, in particular, on the energy eigenmodes and the quantization relations of fermions. Using the fermion propagator arising from this method, we then s…
The dilepton production rate in hot QCD medium is studied within a effective description of the medium in the presence of magnetic field. This could be done by obtaining the one-loop self energy of photon due to the effective (quasi-) quark loop at finite temperature under an arbitrary external magnetic field while employing the real time formalism of Thermal Field Theory. The effective quarks and gluons encode hot QCD medium effective in terms of their respective effective fugacities. The magnetic field enters in the form of landau level quantization, in the matter sector (quarks, antiquarks)…
The directional weak decay constants of neutral pions are determined at finite temperature T, chemical potential μand in the presence of a constant magnetic field B. To do this, we first derive the energy dispersion relation of neutral pions from the corresponding effective action of a two-flavor, hot and magnetized Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. Using this dispersion relation, including nontrivial directional refraction indices, we then generalize the PCAC relation of neutral pions and derive the Goldberger-Treiman (GT) as well as the Gell--Mann-Oakes-Renner (GOR) relations consisting of directio…
We studied the effect of a strong magnetic field ($B$) on the electrical conductivity of hot quark matter. The electrical conductivity is a key transport coefficient determining the time dependence and strength of magnetic fields generated in a relativistic heavy-ion collision. A~magnetic field induces Hall anisotropic conduction, phase-space Landau-level quantization and, if sufficiently strong, interferes with prominent QCD phenomena such as dynamical quark mass generation, likely affecting the quark matter electrical conductivity, which depends strongly on the quark masses. To address these…
We consider our recently obtained general structure of two point (self-energy and propagator) functions of quarks and gluons in a nontrivial background like a heat bath and an external magnetic field. Based on this, here we have computed free energy and pressure of quarks and gluons for a magnetized hot and dense deconfined QCD matter in weak field approximation. For heat bath we have used hard thermal loop perturbation theory (HTLpt) in presence of finite chemical potential. For weak field approximations we have obtained the pressure of QCD matter, both with and without the high temperature e…
Possible effects of large-scale magnetic fields on the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) are reviewed. Depending on the specific branch of the spectrum of plasma excitations, magnetic fields are treated either within a two-fluid plasma description or within an effective (one-fluid) approach. The uniform field approximation is contrasted with the fully inhomogeneous field approximation. It is argued that the interplay between CMB physics and large-scale magnetic fields will represent a rather interesting cross-disciplinary arena along the next few years.
By making use of an explicit representation for the imaginary part of the photon polarization tensor in terms of transitions between the Landau levels of light quarks, we study the angular dependence of direct photon emission from a strongly magnetized quark-gluon plasma. Because of the magnetic field, the leading order photon rate comes from the three processes of the zeroth order in the coupling constant $α_s$: (i) the quark splitting ($q\rightarrow q+γ$), (ii) the antiquark splitting ($\bar{q} \rightarrow \bar{q}+γ$), and (iii) the quark-antiquark annihilation ($q + \bar{q}\rightarrow γ$). …
