For elliptic systems with block structure in the upper half-space and t-independent coefficients, we settle the study of boundary value problems by proving compatible well-posedness of Dirichlet, regularity and Neumann problems in optimal ranges of exponents. Prior to this work, only the two-dimensional situation was fully understood. In higher dimensions, partial results for existence in smaller ranges of exponents and for a subclass of such systems had been established. The presented uniqueness results are completely new. We also elucidate optimal ranges for problems with fractional regularity data. Methods use and improve, with some new results, all the machinery developed over the last two decades to study such problems: the Kato square root estimates and Riesz transforms, Hardy spaces associated to operators, off-diagonal estimates, non-tangential estimates and square functions and abstract layer potentials to replace fundamental solutions in the absence of local regularity of solutions. This self-contained monograph provides a comprehensive overview on the field and unifies many earlier results that have been obtained by a variety of methods.
Let $L$ be a homogeneous divergence form higher order elliptic operator with complex bounded measurable coefficients on $\mathbb{R}^n$ and $X$ a ball quasi-Banach function space on $\mathbb{R}^n$ satisfying some mild assumptions. Denote by $H_{X,\, L}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ the Hardy space, associated with both $L$ and $X$, which is defined via the Lusin area function related to the semigroup generated by $L$. In this article, the authors establish both the maximal function and the Riesz transform characterizations of $H_{X,\, L}(\mathbb{R}^n)$. The results obtained in this article have a wide range o…
In this paper we study existence and nonexistence of nonnegative distributional solutions for a class of semilinear fractional elliptic equations involving the Hardy potential.
This note presents a correction to the paper ``Hardy and BMO spaces associated to divergence form elliptic operators" by Steve Hofmann and Svitlana Mayboroda
On a compact Riemannian manifold, we prove the existence of multiple solutions for an elliptic equation with critical Sobolev growth and critical Hardy potential.
We obtain optimal generalized versions of Hardy inequalities, which as special cases contain Hardy's inequality and Hardy's inequality involving the distance function to the boundary of $ Ω$. In addition we obtain neccesary and sufficient conditions to add improvements in the form of non negative potentials.
Our aim in this article is to study semilinear elliptic equations involving a fractional Hardy operator, an absorption and a Radon source in a weighted distributional sense. We show various scenarios, produced by the combined effect of the fractional Hardy potential, the growth of the absorption term and the concentration of the measure, in which existence and uniqueness results holds.
In this paper, we present some suitable distributional identities of the solutions for nonhomogeneous elliptic equations involving the Hardy-Leray potentials and study qualitative properties of the solutions to the corresponding nonhomogeneous problems by the distributional identities. We address some applications on the nonexistence of some nonhomogeneous problems with the Hardy-Leray potentials and the nonexistence principle eigenvalue with some indefinite potentials.
In this paper we deal with nonnegative distributional supersolutions for a class of linear elliptic equations involving inverse-square potentials and logarithmic weights. We prove sharp nonexistence results.
We give existence and regularity results for solutions of some nonlinear elliptic problems. The equations we deal with are modeled on a problem which involves in its principal part an anisotropic operator, a Hardy-type potential, and a lower-order term depending on the gradient.
In this paper, we develop the Littman-Stampacchia-Weinberger duality approach to obtain global W^1,p estimates for a class of elliptic problems involving Leray-Hardy operators and measure sources in a distributional framework associated with a dual formulation with a specific weight function.
In this paper we study nonexistence of non-negative distributional supersolutions for a class of semilinear elliptic equations involving inverse-square potentials.
We construct families of optimal Hardy-weights for a subcritical linear second-order elliptic operator using a one-dimensional reduction. More precisely, we first characterise all optimal Hardy-weights with respect to one-dimensional subcritical Sturm-Liouville operators on a given interval, and then apply this result to obtain families of optimal Hardy inequalities for general linear second-order elliptic operators in higher dimensions. As an application, we prove a new Rellich inequality.
In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to an elliptic equation near the singularity of an inverse square potential with a coefficient related to the best constant for the Hardy inequality. Due to the presence of a borderline Hardy potential, a proper variational setting has to be introduced in order to provide a weak formulation of the equation. An Almgren-type monotonicity formula is used to determine the exact asymptotic behavior of solutions.
We construct families of optimal Hardy-weights for a subcritical linear second-order elliptic operator $(P,B)$ with degenerate mixed boundary conditions. By an optimal Hardy-weight for a subcritical operator we mean a nonzero nonnegative weight function $W$ such that $(P-W,B)$ is critical and null-critical with respect to $W$. Our results rely on a recently developed criticality theory for positive solutions of the corresponding mixed boundary value problem.
In this paper, we concern the isolated singular solutions for semi-linear elliptic equations involving the Hardy-Leray potentials \begin{equation}\label{0} -Δu+\fracμ{|x|^2} u=u^p\quad {\rm in}\quad Ω\setminus\{0\},\qquad u=0\quad{\rm on}\quad \partialΩ. \end{equation} We classify the isolated singularities and obtain the existence, the stability of positive solutions of (\ref{0}). Our results are based on the study of nonhomogeneous Hardy problem in a new distributional sense.
Consider the second order divergence form elliptic operator $L$ with complex bounded coefficients. In general, the operators related to it (such as Riesz transform or square function) lie beyond the scope of the Calderón-Zygmund theory. They need not be bounded in the classical Hardy, BMO and even some $L^p$ spaces. In this work we generalize the classical approach and develop a theory of Hardy and BMO spaces associated to $L$, which includes, in particular, molecular decomposition, maximal function characterization, duality of Hardy and BMO spaces, John-Nirenberg inequality, and allows to han…
We prove the existence of a family of slow decay positive solutions of a supercritical elliptic equation with Hardy potential in the entire space and study stability and oscillation properties of these solutions. We also establish the existence of a continuum of stable slow decay positive solutions for the relevant exterior Dirichlet problem.
In this paper we study the positive solutions of sub linear elliptic equations with a Hardy potential which is singular at the boundary. By means of ODE techniques a fairly complete picture of the class of radial solutions is given. Local solutions with a prescribed growth at the boundary are constructed by means of contraction operators. Some of those radial solutions are then used to construct ordered upper and lower solutions in general domains. By standard iteration arguments the existence of positive solutions is proved. An important tool is the Hardy constant.
In a very general quasilinear setting, we show that the regularizing effect of a first order term causes the existence of energy solutions for problems involving the Hardy potential and $L^1$ data. In the same setting we study sharp (local and global) integral estimates for the second derivatives of the solutions.
We prove some Hardy type inequalities related to quasilinear second order degenerate elliptic differential operators L_p(u):=-\nabla_L^*(\abs{\nabla_L u}^{p-2}\nabla_L u). If ϕis a positive weight such that -L_pϕ>= 0, then the Hardy type inequality c\int_Ω\frac{\abs u^p}{ϕ^p}\abs{\nabla_L ϕ}^p dξ\le \int_Ω\abs{\nabla_L u}^p dξholds. We find an explicit value of the constant involved, which, in most cases, results optimal. As particular case we derive Hardy inequalities for subelliptic operators on Carnot Groups.
We consider Muckenhoupt weights $w$, and define weighted Hardy spaces $H^p_{\mathcal{T}}(w)$, where $\mathcal{T}$ denotes a conical square function or a non-tangential maximal function defined via the heat or the Poisson semigroup generated by a second order divergence form elliptic operator $L$. In the range $0<p< 1$, we give a molecular characterization of these spaces. Additionally, in the range $p\in \mathcal{W}_w(p_-(L),p_+(L))$ we see that these spaces are isomorphic to the $L^p(w)$ spaces. We also consider the Riesz transform $\nabla L^{-\frac{1}{2}}$, associated with $L$, and show that…
Given a Muckenhoupt weight $w$ and a second order divergence form elliptic operator $L$, we consider different versions of the weighted Hardy space $H^1_L(w)$ defined by conical square functions and non-tangential maximal functions associated with the heat and Poisson semigroups generated by $L$. We show that all of them are isomorphic and also that $H^1_L(w)$ admits a molecular characterization. One of the advantages of our methods is that our assumptions extend naturally the unweighted theory developed by S. Hofmann and S. Mayboroda and we can immediately recover the unweighted case. Some of…
Optimal estimates on the asymptotic behaviors of weak solutions both at the origin and at the infinity are obtained to the following quasilinear elliptic equations \[-Δ_{p}u-\fracμ{|x|^{p}}|u|^{p-2}u=Q(x)|u|^{\frac{Np}{N-p}-2}u,\quad\,x\in \mathbb{R}^{N},\] where $1<p<N, 0\leqμ<\left({(N-p)}/{p}\right)^{p}$ and $Q\in L^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^{N})$.
Optimal estimates on asymptotic behaviors of weak solutions both at the origin and at the infinity are obtained to the following quasilinear elliptic equations \begin{eqnarray*} -Δ_{p}u-\fracμ{|x|^{p}}|u|^{p-2}u+m|u|^{p-2}u=f(u), & & x\in\R^{N}, \end{eqnarray*} where $1<p<N$, $0\leqμ<\left((N-p)/p\right)^{p}$, $m>0$ and $f$ is a continuous function.
We consider weak positive solutions to the critical $p$-Laplace equation with Hardy potential in $\mathbb R^N$ $$-Δ_p u -\fracγ{|x|^p} u^{p-1}=u^{p^*-1}$$ where $1<p<N$, $0\le γ<\left(\frac{N-p}{p}\right)^p$ and $p^*=\frac{Np}{N-p}$. The main result is to show that all the solutions in $\mathcal D^{1, p}(\mathbb R^N)$ are radial and radially decreasing about the origin.
In this paper, we study the following singular nonlinear elliptic problem \begin{equation}\label{eq:1} \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} \displaystyle (-Δ)^{\frac α2} u=λ|u|^{r-2}u+μ\frac{|u|^{q-2}u}{|x|^{s}}\quad &{\rm in }\quad Ω, \\ \\ u=0 &{\rm on }\quad \partialΩ, \end{array} \right. \end{equation} where $Ω$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb R^N$ with $0\in Ω$, $λ,μ>0,0<s\leqα$, $(-Δ)^{\frac α2}$ is the fractional Laplacian operator with $0<α<2$. We establish existence results of problem \eqref{eq:1} for subcritical, Sobolev critical and Hardy-Sobolev critical cases.
This note is a continuation of the work \cite{CaoXiangYan2014}. We study the following quasilinear elliptic equations \[ -Δ_{p}u-\fracμ{|x|^{p}}|u|^{p-2}u=Q(x)|u|^{\frac{Np}{N-p}-2}u,\quad\, x\in\mathbb{R}^{N}, \] where $1<p<N,0\leqμ<\left((N-p)/p\right)^{p}$ and $Q\in L^{\infty}(\R^{N})$. Optimal asymptotic estimates on the gradient of solutions are obtained both at the origin and at the infinity.
Optimal estimates on asymptotic behaviors of weak solutions both at the origin and at the infinity are obtained to the following quasilinear elliptic equations \begin{eqnarray*} -Δ_{p}u-\fracμ{|x|^{p}}|u|^{p-2}u+m|u|^{p-2}u=f(u), & & x\in\R^{N}, \end{eqnarray*} where $1<p<N,0\leqμ<\left((N-p)/p\right)^{p}$, $m>0$ and $f$ is a nonlinear function.
This is the first part of a series of three articles. In this paper, we obtain weighted norm inequalities for different conical square functions associated with the Heat and the Poisson semigroups generated by a second order divergence form elliptic operator with bounded complex coefficients. We find classes of Muckenhoupt weights where the square functions are comparable and/or bounded. These classes are natural from the point of view of the ranges where the unweighted estimates hold. In doing that, we obtain sharp weighted change of angle formulas which allow us to compare conical square fun…
In this paper, we deal with a fractional elliptic equation with critical Sobolev nonlinearity and Hardy term $$ (-Δ)^α u-μ\frac{u}{|x|^{2α}}+a(x) u=|u|^{2^*-2}u+k(x)|u|^{q-2}u$$ $$ u\,\in\,H^α({\mathbb R}^N),$$ where $2<q< 2^*$, $0<α<1$, $N>4α$, $2^*=2N/(N-2α)$ is the critical Sobolev exponent, $a(x),k(x)\in C({\mathbb R}^N)$. Through a compactness analysis of the functional associated to $(*)$, we obtain the existence of positive solutions for $(*)$ under certain assumptions on $a(x),k(x)$.
In this paper, we are concerned with the following type of elliptic problems: $$ (-Δ)^α u+a(x) u=\frac{|u|^{2^*_{s}-2}u}{|x|^s}+k(x)|u|^{q-2}u, u\,\in\,H^α({\mathbb R}^N), $$ where $2<q< 2^*$, $0<α<1$, $0<s<2α$, $2^*_{s}=2(N-s)/(N-2α)$ is the critical Sobolev-Hardy exponent, $2^*=2N/(N-2α)$ is the critical Sobolev exponent, $a(x),k(x)\in C({\mathbb R}^N)$. Through a compactness analysis of the functional associated to the problem, we obtain the existence of positive solutions under certain assumptions on $a(x),k(x)$.
Semilinear elliptic equations which give rise to solutions blowing up at the boundary are perturbed by a Hardy potential. The size of this potential effects the existence of a certain type of solutions (large solutions): if the potential is too small, then no large solution exists. The presence of the Hardy potential requires a new definition of large solutions, following the pattern of the associated linear problem. Nonexistence and existence results for different types of solutions will be given. Our considerations are based on a Phragmen-Lindelof type theorem which enables us to classify th…
In this paper, we consider the fractional elliptic equation \begin{align*} \left\{\begin{aligned} &(-Δ)^s u-μ\frac{u}{|x|^{2s}} = \frac{|u|^{2_s^\ast (α)-2}u}{|x|^α} + f(x,u), && \mbox{in} \ Ω,\\ &u=0, && \mbox{in} \ \mathbb{R}^{n}\backslash \ Ω, \end{aligned}\right. \end{align*} where $Ω\subset R^n$ is a smooth bounded domain, $0\inΩ$, $0<s<1$, $0<α<2s<n$, $2_{s}^{\ast}(α)=\frac{2(n-α)}{n-2s}$. Under some assumptions on $μ$ and $f$, we obtain the existence of nonnegative solutions.
Let $Ω$ be a Lipschitz domain in $\mathbb R^n,n\geq 3,$ and $L=\divt A\nabla$ be a second order elliptic operator in divergence form. We will establish that the solvability of the Dirichlet regularity problem for boundary data in Hardy-Sobolev space $\HS$ is equivalent to the solvability of the Dirichlet regularity problem for boundary data in $H^{1,p}$ for some $1<p<\infty$. This is a "dual result" to a theorem in \cite{DKP09}, where it has been shown that the solvability of the Dirichlet problem with boundary data in $\text{BMO}$ is equivalent to the solvability for boundary data in $L^p(\pa…
In this paper, by an approximating argument, we obtain infinitely many solutions for the following Hardy-Sobolev fractional equation with critical growth \begin{equation*}\label{0.1} \left\{% \begin{array}{ll} (-Δ)^{s} u-\ds\frac{μu}{|x|^{2s}}=|u|^{2^*_s-2}u+au, & \hbox{$\text{in}~ Ω$},\vspace{0.1cm} u=0,\,\, &\hbox{$\text{on}~\partial Ω$}, \\ \end{array}% \right. \end{equation*} provided $N>6s$, $μ\geq0$, $0< s<1$, $2^*_s=\frac{2N}{N-2s}$, $a>0$ is a constant and $Ω$ is an open bounded domain in $\R^N$ which contains the origin.
We study the behaviour of Hardy-weights for a class of variational quasi-linear elliptic operators of $p$-Laplacian type. In particular, we obtain necessary sharp decay conditions at infinity on the Hardy-weights in terms of their integrability with respect to certain integral weights. Some of the results are extended also to nonsymmetric linear elliptic operators. Applications to various examples are discussed as well.
In this paper, we consider the following problem: $$ (-Δ)^{s} u -\frac{ζu}{|x|^{2s}} = \sum_{i=1}^{k} \frac{|u|^{2^{*}_{s,θ_{i}}-2}u} {|x|^{θ_{i}}} , \mathrm{~in~} \mathbb{R}^{N}, $$ where $N\geqslant3$, $s\in(0,1)$, $ζ\in \left[ 0,4^{s}\frac{Γ(\frac{N+2s}{4})}{Γ(\frac{N-2s}{4})} \right)$, $2^{*}_{s,θ_{i}}=\frac{2(N-θ_{i})}{N-2s}$ are the critical Hardy--Sobolev exponents, the parameters $θ_{i}$ satisfy a suitable assumption. By using Morrey space, refinement of Hardy--Sobolev inequality and variational method, we establish the existence of nonnegative solution. Our result generalizes the resu…
In this paper, we give a full classification of the nonexistence of positive weak solutions to the semilinear elliptic inequality involving the fractional Hardy potential in punctured and in exterior domains. Our methods are self-contained and new. The main ideas and key ingredients will be discussed in the next section after Theorem 1.1 for punctured domains, and after Theorem 1.4 for exterior domains. We will also explain why all the previous methods and techniques do not apply to our general setting. Let us give here a foretaste of our line of attack: Based on the imbalance between the Hard…
On a bounded smooth domain we study solutions of a semilinear elliptic equation with an exponential nonlinearity and a Hardy potential depending on the distance to the boundary of the domain. We derive global a priori bounds of the Keller-Osserman type. Using a Phragmen-Lindelof alternative for generalized sub and super-harmonic functions we discuss existence, nonexistence and uniqueness of so-called large solutions, i.e., solutions which tend to infinity at the boundary. The approach develops the one used by the same authors for a problem with a power nonlinearity instead of the exponential n…
In this work, we consider the Cauchy problem for $u' - Au = f$ with $A$ the Laplacian operator on some Riemannian manifolds or a sublapacian on some Lie groups or some second order elliptic operators on a domain. We show the boundedness of the operator of maximal regularity $f\mapsto Au$ and its adjoint on appropriate Hardy spaces which we define and study for this purpose. As a consequence we reobtain the maximal $L^q$ regularity on $L^p$ spaces for $p,q$ between 1 and $\infty$.
We show that the boundedness of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator on a Köthe function space ${\mathbb{X}}$ and on its Köthe dual ${\mathbb{X}}'$ is equivalent to the well-posedness of the $\mathbb{X}$-Dirichlet and $\mathbb{X}'$-Dirichlet problems in $\mathbb{R}^{n}_{+}$ in the class of all second-order, homogeneous, elliptic systems, with constant complex coefficients. As a consequence, we obtain that the Dirichlet problem for such systems is well-posed for boundary data in Lebesgue spaces, variable exponent Lebesgue spaces, Lorentz spaces, Zygmund spaces, as well as their weighted versio…
Here we study the solutions of any sign of the system --$Δ$u 1 = |$\nabla$u 2 | p , --$Δ$u 2 = |$\nabla$u 1 | q , in a domain of R N , N 3 and p, q > 0, pq > 1.. We show their relation with Lane-Emden Hardy-H{é}non equations --$Δ$ N p w= $ε$r $σ$ w q , $ε$ = $\pm$1, where u $\rightarrow$ $Δ$ N p u (p > 1) is the p-Laplacian in dimension N, q > p -- 1 and $σ$ $\in$ R. This leads us to explore these equations in not often tackled ranges of the parameters N, p, $σ$. We make a complete description of the radial solutions of the system and of the Hardy-Henon equations and give nonradial a priori es…
We study the existence and multiplicity of sign changing solutions of the following equation $ \begin{cases} -Δu = μ|u|^{2^{\star}-2}u+\frac{|u|^{2^{*}(t)-2}u}{|x|^t}+a(x)u \quad\text{in}\quad Ω, u=0 \quad\text{on}\quad\partialΩ, \end{cases} $where $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $R^N$, $0\in\partialΩ$, all the principal curvatures of $\partialΩ$ at $0$ are negative and $μ\geq 0, \ \ a>0, \ \ N\geq 7, \ \ 0<t<2, \ \ 2^{\star}=\frac{2N}{N-2}$ and $2^{\star}(t)=\frac{2(N-t)}{N-2}$.
We are concerned with Liouville-type results of stable solutions and finite Morse index solutions for the following nonlinear elliptic equation with Hardy potential: \begin{displaymath} Δu+\dfracμ{|x|^2}u+|x|^l |u|^{p-1}u=0 \qquad \textrm{in}\ \ Ω, \end{displaymath} where $Ω=\RN$, $\RN\setminus\{0\}$ for $N\geq3$, $p>1$, $l>-2$ and $μ<(N-2)^2/4$. Our results depend crucially on a new critical exponent $p=p_c(l,μ)$ and the parameter $μ$ in Hardy term. We prove that there exist no nontrivial stable solution and finite Morse index solution for $1<p<p_c(l,μ)$. We also observe a range of the expone…
We study existence and stability of solutions of (E 1) --$Δ$u + $μ$ |x| 2 u + g(u) = $ν$ in $Ω$, u = 0 on $\partial$$Ω$, where $Ω$ is a bounded, smooth domain of R N , N $\ge$ 2, containing the origin, $μ$ $\ge$ -- (N --2) 2 4 is a constant, g is a nondecreasing function satisfying some integral growth assumption and $ν$ is a Radon measure on $Ω$. We show that the situation differs according $ν$ is diffuse or concentrated at the origin. When g is a power we introduce a capacity framework to find necessary and sufficient condition for solvability.
We study the inequality $ -Δu - \fracμ{|x|^2} u \geq (|x|^{-α} * u^p)u^q$ in an unbounded cone $\mathcal{C}_Ω^ρ\subset \mathbb{R}^N$ ($N\geq 2$) generated by a subdomain $Ω$ of the unit sphere $S^{N-1}\subset \mathbb{R}^N,$ $p, q, ρ>0$, $μ\in \mathbb{R}$ and $0\leq α< N$. In the above, $|x|^{-α} * u^p$ denotes the standard convolution operator in the cone $\mathcal{C}_Ω^ρ$. We discuss the existence and nonexistence of positive solutions in terms of $N, p, q, α, μ$ and $Ω$. Extensions to systems of inequalities are also investigated.
The paper is concerned with the slightly subcritical elliptic problem with Hardy term \[ \left\{ \begin{aligned} -Δu-μ\frac{u}{|x|^2} &= |u|^{2^{\ast}-2-ε}u &&\quad \text{in } Ω, \\\ u &= 0&&\quad \text{on } \partialΩ, \end{aligned} \right. \] in a bounded domain $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^N$ with $0\inΩ$, in dimensions $N\ge7$. We prove the existence of multi-bubble nodal solutions that blow up positively at the origin and negatively at a different point as $ε\to0$ and $μ=ε^α$ with $α>\frac{N-4}{N-2}$. In the case of $Ω$ being a ball centered at the origin we can obtain solutions with up to $5$ bubb…
This paper is the second part of a work devoted to the study of elliptic systems involving multiple Hardy-Sobolev critical exponents: $$\begin{cases} -Δu-λ\frac{|u|^{2^*(s_1)-2}u}{|x|^{s_1}}=κα\frac{1}{|x|^{s_2}}|u|^{α-2}u|v|^β\quad &\hbox{in}\;Ω,\\ -Δv-μ\frac{|v|^{2^*(s_1)-2}v}{|x|^{s_1}}=κβ\frac{1}{|x|^{s_2}}|u|^α|v|^{β-2}v\quad &\hbox{in}\;Ω,\\ κ>0,(u,v)\in \mathscr{D}:=D_{0}^{1,2}(Ω)\times D_{0}^{1,2}(Ω), \end{cases}$$ where $s_1\neq s_2\in (0,2), α>1,β>1, λ>0,μ>0,κ>0, α+β=2^*(s_2)$. Here, $2^*(s):=\frac{2(N-s)}{N-2}$ is the critical Hardy-Sobolev exponent. When $Ω$ is a cone (especially $…
We consider the Hardy-Hénon system $-Δu =|x|^a v^p$, $-Δv =|x|^b u^q$ with $p,q>0$ and $a,b\in {\mathbb R}$ and we are concerned in particular with the Liouville property, i.e. the nonexistence of positive solutions in the whole space ${\mathbb R}^N$. In view of known results, it is a natural conjecture that this property should be true if and only if $(N+a)/(p+1)+$ $(N+b)/(q+1)>N-2$. In this paper, we prove the conjecture for dimension N=3 in the case of bounded solutions and in dimensions $N\le 4$ when $a,b\le 0$, among other partial nonexistence results. As far as we know, this is the first…
We prove geometric $L^p$ versions of Hardy's inequality for the sub-elliptic Laplacian on convex domains $Ω$ in the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$, where convex is meant in the Euclidean sense. When $p=2$ and $Ω$ is the half-space given by $\langle ξ, ν\rangle > d$ this generalizes an inequality previously obtained by Luan and Yang. For such $p$ and $Ω$ the inequality is sharp and takes the form \begin{equation} \int_Ω|\nabla_{\mathbb{H}^n}u|^2 \, dξ\geq \frac{1}{4}\int_Ω \sum_{i=1}^n\frac{\langle X_i(ξ), ν\rangle^2+\langle Y_i(ξ), ν\rangle^2}{\textrm{dist}(ξ, \partial Ω)^2}|u|^2\, dξ, \end{e…
We study the possible blow-up behavior of solutions to the slightly subcritical elliptic problem with Hardy term \[ \left\{ \begin{aligned} -Δu-μ\frac{u}{|x|^2} &= |u|^{2^{\ast}-2-\varepsilon}u &&\quad \text{in } Ω, \\\ u &= 0&&\quad \text{on } \partialΩ, \end{aligned} \right. \] in a bounded domain $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^N (N\ge7)$ with $0\inΩ$, as $μ,\varepsilon\to 0^+$. In \cite{BarGuo-ANS}, we obtained the existence of nodal solutions that blow up positively at the origin and negatively at a different point as $μ=O(ε^α)$ with $α>\frac{N-4}{N-2}$, $\varepsilon\to 0^+$. Here we prove the existe…
We study existence and uniqueness of solutions of (E 1) --$Δ$u + $μ$ |x| ^{-2} u + g(u) = $ν$ in $Ω$, u = $λ$ on $\partial$$Ω$, where $Ω$ $\subset$ R N + is a bounded smooth domain such that 0 $\in$ $\partial$$Ω$, $μ$ $\ge$ -- N 2 4 is a constant, g a continuous nondecreasing function satisfying some integral growth condition and $ν$ and $λ$ two Radon measures respectively in $Ω$ and on $\partial$$Ω$. We show that the situation differs considerably according the measure is concentrated at 0 or not. When g is a power we introduce a capacity framework which provides necessary and sufficient cond…
In this paper, we study the existence and multiplicity of solutions for the following fractional problem involving the Hardy potential and concave-convex nonlinearities: $$({-}{ Δ})^{\fracα{2}}u- γ\frac{u}{|x|^α}= λf(x) |u|^{q - 2} u + g(x) {\frac{|u|^{p-2}u}{|x|^s}} \ \text{ in } {Ω,} \quad \text{ with Dirichlet boundary condition } u = 0 \ \text{ in } \mathbb{R}^n \setminus Ω,$$ where $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$ containing $0$ in its interior, and $f,g \in C(\overlineΩ)$ with $f^+,g^+ \not\equiv 0$ which may change sign in $\overlineΩ.$ We use the var…
