The Nappi-Witten model is a Wess-Zumino-Witten model in which the target space is the nonreductive Heisenberg group $H_4$. We consider the representation theory underlying this conformal field theory. Specifically, we study the category of weight modules, with finite-dimensional weight spaces, over the associated affine vertex operator algebra $\mathsf{H}_4$. In particular, we classify the irreducible $\mathsf{H}_4$-modules in this category and compute their characters. We moreover observe that this category is nonsemisimple, suggesting that the Nappi-Witten model is a logarithmic conformal field theory.
We investigate the Hamiltonian analysis of Nappi-Witten model (WZW action based on non semi simple gauge group) and find a time dependent non-commutativity by canonical quantization. Our procedure is based on constraint analysis of the model in two parts. A first class analysis is used for gauge fixing the original model following by a second class analysis in which the boundary condition are treated as Dirac constraints. We find the reduced phase space by imposing our second class constraints on the variables in an extended Fourier space.
We study Yang-Baxter deformations of the Nappi-Witten model with a prescription invented by Delduc, Magro and Vicedo. The deformations are specified by skew-symmetric classical $r$-matrices satisfying (modified) classical Yang-Baxter equations. We show that the sigma-model metric is invariant under arbitrary deformations (while the coefficient of $B$-field is changed) by utilizing the most general classical $r$-matrix. Furthermore, the coefficient of $B$-field is determined to be the original value from the requirement that the one-loop $β$-function should vanish. After all, the Nappi-Witten m…
We show that infinite families of non-relativistic spin-$3$ symmetries in $2+1$ dimensions, which include higher-spin extensions of the Bargmann, Newton-Hooke, non-relativistic Maxwell, and non-relativistic AdS-Lorentz algebras, can be obtained as Lie algebra expansions of two different spin-$3$ extensions of the Nappi-Witten symmetry. These higher-spin Nappi-Witten algebras, in turn, are obtained by means of Inönü-Wigner contractions applied to suitable direct product extensions of $\mathfrak{sl}(3,\mathbb{R})$. Conversely, we show that the same result can be obtained by considering contracti…
Hidden symmetries of the Goryachev-Chaplygin and Kovalevskaya gyrostats spacetimes, as well as the Brdička-Eardley-Nappi-Witten pp-waves are studied. We find out that these spacetimes possess higher rank Stäckel-Killing tensors and that in the case of the pp-wave spacetimes the symmetry group of the Stäckel-Killing tensors is the well-known Newton-Hooke group.
We define a formalism for computing open orbifold GW invariants of [C^3/G] where G is any finite abelian group. We prove that this formalism and a suitable gluing algorithm can be used to compute GW invariants in all genera of any toric CY orbifold of dimension 3. We conjecture a correspondence with the DT orbifold vertex of Bryan-Cadman-Young.
We study the structure of modules of corner vertex operator algebras arrising at junctions of interfaces in $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM. In most of the paper, we concentrate on truncations of $\mathcal{W}_{1+\infty}$ associated to the simplest trivalent junction. First, we generalize the Miura transformation for $\mathcal{W}_{N_1}$ to a general truncation $Y_{N_1,N_2,N_3}$. Secondly, we propose a simple parametrization of their generic modules, generalizing the Yangian generating function of highest weight charges. Parameters of the generating function can be identified with exponents of vertex operat…
We prove that the fermionic form of the generating function of the Gromov-Witten invariants of the resolved conifold is a Bogoliubov transform of the fermionic vacuum; in particular, it is a tau function of the KP hierarchy. Our proof is based on the gluing rule of the topological vertex and the formulas of the fermionic representations of the framed one-legged and two-legged topological vertex which were conjectured by Aganagic et al and proved in our recent work.
The new general upper bound mu <= [c/24] + 1 for the minimal weight mu of a self-dual vertex operator superalgebra of central charge c different from 47/2 is proven. For central charges c <= 48, further improved estimates are given and examples of with large minimal weight are discussed. We also study the case of vertex operator superalgebras with N=1 supersymmetry which was first considered by Witten in connection with three-dimensional quantum gravity. The upper bound mu^* <= (1/2)[c/12]+1/2 for the minimal superconformal weight is obtained for c different from 47/2. In addition, we show tha…
We regulate Witten's open superstring field theory by replacing the picture-changing insertion at the midpoint with a contour integral of picture changing insertions over the half-string overlaps of the cubic vertex. The resulting product between string fields is non-associative, but we provide a solution to the $A_\infty$ relations defining all higher vertices. The result is an explicit covariant superstring field theory which by construction satisfies the classical BV master equation.
We construct a family of infinite-dimensional positive sub-coalgebras within the Grothendieck ring of Hecke algebras, when viewed as a Hopf algebra with respect to the induction and restriction functor. These sub-coalgebras have as structure constants the 3-point genus zero Gromov-Witten invariants of Grassmannians and are spanned by what we call cylindric Hecke characters, a particular set of virtual characters for whose computation we give several explicit combinatorial formulae. One of these expressions is a generalisation of Ram's formula for irreducible Hecke characters and uses cylindric…
We show that there is a dual description of conformal blocks of $d=2$ rational CFT in terms of Hecke eigenfields and eigensheaves. In particular, partition functions, conformal characters and lattice theta functions may be reconstructed from the action of Hecke operators. This method can be applied to: 1) rings of integers of Galois number fields equipped with the trace (or anti-trace) form; 2) root lattices of affine Kac-Moody algebras and WZW-models; 3) minimal models of Belavin-Polyakov-Zamolodchikov and related $d=2$ spin-chain/lattice models; 4) vertex algebras of Leech and Niemeier latti…
We construct an integrable hierarchy in terms of vertex operators and Hirota Quadratic Equations (HQE shortly) and we show that the equivariant total descendant potential of $\C P^1$ satisfies the HQE. Our prove is based on the quantization formalism developed in \cite{G1}, \cite{G2}, and on the equivariant mirror model of $\C P^1.$ The vertex operators in our construction obey certain transformation law under change of coordinates, which might be important for generalizing the HQE to other manifolds. We also show that under certain change of the variables, which is due to E. Getzler, the HQE …
We consider the exchange relations of screened vertex operators in the sl3 Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten(WZNW) model in the semiclassical limit (where level k tends to infinity). We demonstrate that the coefficients of the exchange relations of the screened vertex operators coincide with the ones of the spider diagrams. The spider diagrams are composed of 3-point vertices, and differ from ordinary string diagrams.
The Gromov-Witten invariants of \mathbb{C}^3 with branes is encoded in the topological vertex which has a very complicated combinatorial expression. A simple formula for the topological vertex was proposed by Aganagic et al in the fermionic picture. We will propose a similar formula for the framed topological vertex and prove it in the case when there are one or two branes.
We propose a way of computing 4-manifold invariants, old and new, as chiral correlation functions in half-twisted 2d $\mathcal{N}=(0,2)$ theories that arise from compactification of fivebranes. Such formulation gives a new interpretation of some known statements about Seiberg-Witten invariants, such as the basic class condition, and gives a prediction for structural properties of the multi-monopole invariants and their non-abelian generalizations.
Each flag manifold carries a unique algebra of chiral differential operators. Continuing along the lines of arXiv:0903.1281 we compute the vertex algebra structure on the cohomology of this algebra. The answer is: the tensor product of the center and a subalgebra; the center is isomorphic, as a commutative associative algebra, to the cohomology of the corresponding maximal nilpotent Lie algebra; the subalgebra is the vacuum module over the corresponding affine Lie algebra of critical level and 0 central character. We next find the Friedan-Martinec-Shenker-Borisov bosonization of the cohomology…
Using the curved bc-beta-gamma system (a tensor product of a Heisenberg and a Clifford vertex algebra) we introduce quantum analogy of Lichnerowicz differential. As follows we suggest new machinery for finding the Lichnerowicz-Poisson cohomology groups for any Poisson manifold. Moreover, the defined provides new invariant. Keywords: Poisson manifold, Lichnerowicz differential, Chiral de Rham complex, cohomologies, vertex algebras, deformation theory, Nambu-Poisson bracket, n-Lie algebras, Gromov-Witten theory.
We study two-dimensional non-abelian BF theory in Lorenz gauge and prove that it is a topological conformal field theory. This opens the possibility to compute topological string amplitudes (Gromov-Witten invariants). We found that the theory is exactly solvable in the sense that all correlators are given by finite-dimensional convergent integrals. Surprisingly, this theory turns out to be logarithmic in the sense that there are correlators given by polylogarithms and powers of logarithms. Furthermore, we found fields with "logarithmic conformal dimension" (elements of a Jordan cell for $L_0$)…
