The properties of the neutron stars are calculated for the hadronic matter within the density-dependent relativistic mean-field model (DD-RMF). The phase transition to the quark matter is studied and the hybrid star matter properties are systematically calculated using the Vector-Enhanced Bag model (vBag). The maximum mass of neutron star with DD-LZ1 and DD-RMF parameter sets is found to be around 2.55$M_{\odot}$ for pure hadronic phase and around 2$M_{\odot}$ for hadron-quark mixed phase using both Gibbs and Maxwell construction. The tidal deformability for the hybrid EoS at 1.4$M_{\odot}$, $Λ_{1.4}$, remains unchanged from the pure hadronic EoS with Maxwell construction, but decreases with the increasing neutron star mass for Gibbs construction. While the pure hadron matter EoS satisfies the mass constraint from recently observed GW190814 data, implying a stiff neutron star EoS, the hadron-quark phase transition satisfies the constraints from the recent observations GW170817. Therefore, we cannot exclude the possibility of the secondary object in GW190814 as a neutron star with a phase transition to the quark matter that satisfies the 2$M_{\odot}$ maximum mass limit.
We explore the possibility of a structured hadron-quark mixed phase forming in the interior of neutron stars. The quark-meson coupling (QMC) model, which explicitly incorporates the internal quark structure of the nucleon, is employed to describe the hadronic phase, while the quark phase is described by the same bag model as the one used in the QMC framework, so as to keep consistency between the two coexisting phases. We analyze the effect of the appearance of hadron-quark pasta phases on the neutron-star properties. We also discuss the influence of nuclear symmetry energy and the bag constan…
We study the hadron-quark mixed phase, which may occur in the interior of neutron stars. The relativistic mean-field model is employed to describe the hadronic phase, while the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model is used for the quark phase. We examine the effects of nuclear symmetry energy in the hadronic phase and repulsive vector interaction in the quark phase. For the treatment of hadron-quark mixed phase, we describe and compare four methods: (1) energy minimization method; (2) coexisting phases method; (3) Gibbs construction; and (4) Maxwell construction. The finite-size effects like surface and C…
We examine the effects of the isovector-vector coupling and hypercharge-vector coupling in quark matter on hadron-quark coexistence in neutron-star matter. The relativistic mean field theory with the TM1 parameter set and an extended TM1 parameter set are used to describe hadronic matter, and the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with scalar, isoscalar-vector, isovector-vector and hypercharge-vector couplings is used to describe deconfined quark matter. The hadron-quark phase transition is constructed via the Gibbs conditions for phase equilibrium. The isovector-vector and hypercharge-vector couplings …
Density-dependent relations among saturation properties of symmetric nuclear matter and hyperonic matter, properties of hadron-(strange) quark hybrid stars are discussed by applying the conserving nonlinear $σ$-$ω$-$ρ$ hadronic mean-field theory. Nonlinear interactions that will be renormalized as effective coupling constants, effective masses and sources of equations of motion are constructed self-consistently by maintaining thermodynamic consistency to the mean-field approximation. The coupling constants expected from the hadronic mean-field model and SU(6) quark model for the vector couplin…
We calculate the charge balance function of the bulk quark system before hadronization and those for the directly produced and the final hadron system in high energy heavy ion collisions. We use the covariance coefficient to describe the strength of the correlation between the momentum of the quark and that of the anti-quark if they are produced in a pair and fix the parameter by comparing the results for hadrons with the available data. We study the hadronization effects and decay contributions by comparing the results for hadrons with those for the bulk quark system. Our results show that wh…
We develop a new formulation of the quark coalescence model by including the quark number conservation in order to describe the hadronization of the bulk of the quark-gluon plasma. The scalings between hadron and quark phase space distributions are shown to depend on the transverse momentum. For hard quarks, our general scalings reproduce the usual quadratic scaling relation for mesons and the cubic scaling relation for baryons. For softer quarks, however, the inclusion of the quark number conservation leads to a linear scaling for the hadron species that dominates the quark number of each fla…
In this work the susceptibility coefficients of the strange and non-strange quark number of second and fourth order are presented. The results at zero baryonchemical potential are obtained using a well tested chiral effective model including all known hadron degrees of freedom and additionally incorporating quarks and gluons in a PNJL model approach. Quark number susceptibilities are sensitive to the fundamental degrees of freedom in the model and signal the shift from massive hadrons to light quarks at the deconfinement transition by a sharp rise at the critical temperature. Furthermore, all …
We study multi-hadron systems with a single heavy quark (charm or bottom) in the limit of heavy quark mass. The spin degeneracy of the states with quantum numbers $(j+1/2)^{P}$ and $(j-1/2)^{P}$ for $j \neq 0$, known in a normal hadron, can be generalized to multi-hadron systems. The spin degeneracy is the universal phenomena for any multi-hadron systems with a single heavy quark, irrespective of their internal structures, including compact multi-quarks, hadronic molecules and exotic nuclei. We demonstrate the spin degeneracy in the hadronic systems formed by a heavy hadron effective theory; $…
We study the hadronization time of heavy quark in nuclear matter by using the coalescence model and the spatial diffusion constant of heavy quark from lattice Quantum Chromodynamic calculations, assuming that the main interaction of heavy quark at the critical temperature is hadronization. It is found that the hadronization time of heavy quark is about 3 fm/c for $2πT_c D_s=6$, if a heavy quark is combined with the nearest light antiquark in coordinate space without any correlation between momentum of heavy quark and that of light antiquark which form a heavy meson. However, the hadronization …
Recently we have reported the correct formulation of the lattice QCD method at the zero temperature to study the hadron formation from the quarks and gluons by incorporating the non-zero boundary surface term in QCD which arises due to the confinement of quarks and gluons inside the finite size hadron. In this paper we extend this to the finite temperature QCD and present the correct formulation of the lattice QCD method at the finite temperature to study the hadron formation from the quark-gluon plasma.
The Collins effect describes the modulation of the hadron production by a transversely polarized quark with the sine of the polar angle, $φ$, between the produced hadron's transverse momentum and the quark spin. We employ a quark-jet model to describe multiple hadron emissions by such a quark, taking the Collins effect into account. The resulting hadron distributions exhibit modulation up to fourth order in $\sin(φ)$ when only two hadron emissions are allowed, rising with any further increase in the number of emitted hadrons. These new effects are a direct consequence of the quark-jet mechanis…
We propose a new kind of two-particle correlation of identified hadrons in longitudinal rapidity space, called $G_{αβ}(y_α,y_β)$, which can reflect clearly the charge correlations of hot quark system produced in AA collisions at LHC energies. It is derived from the basic scenario of quark combination mechanism of hadron production. Like the elliptic flow of identified hadrons at intermediate transverse momentum, this correlation is independent of the absolute hadronic yields but dependent only on the flavor compositions of hadrons, and thus exhibits interesting properties for different kinds o…
The hadron-quark combustion front is a system that couples various processes, such as chemical reactions, hydrodynamics, diffusion, and neutrino transport. Previous numerical work has shown that this system is very nonlinear, and can be very sensitive to some of these processes. In these proceedings, we contextualize the hadron-quark combustion as a nonlinear system, subject to dramatic feedback triggered by leptonic weak decays and neutrino transport.
We present recent results of hadron spectroscopy and hadron-hadron interaction from the perspective of constituent quark models. We pay special attention to the role played by higher order Fock space components in the hadron spectra and the connection of this extension with the hadron-hadron interaction. The main goal of our description is to obtain a coherent understanding of the lowenergy hadron phenomenology without enforcing any particular model, to constrain its characteristics and learn about low-energy realization of the theory.
Quark-hadron matter at finite temperature and density is studied using a two-flavor, color SU(2) (P)NJL model. The hadronic effective Lagrangian, derived by bosonization of the quark fields and renormalized using the Eguchi method, emerges in the form of an extended linear sigma model with meson and diquark-baryon fields. Chiral and diquark condensates are studied as functions of temperature and baryon density. Masses of mesons and diquark-baryons are calculated with and without the Polyakov loop effect. We investigate the equation of state of quark-hadron matter by taking into account the con…
We will review the approach used for studying the conversion of a hadronic star into a quark star based on the assumption of a infinitely thin combustion zone and we will discuss why, in this scheme, the combustion stops before the whole hadronic star is converted.
In order to get a more realistic description of the hadron spectrum we extend a constituent-quark model by explicit mesonic degrees of freedom. The resulting system of constituent (anti)quarks, which are subject to an instantaneous confining force, and mesons, which couple directly to the quarks, is treated by means of a relativistic coupled-channel framework. It can be formally shown that the mass-eigenvalue problem for such a system is equivalent to a hadronic eigenvalue problem in which the eigenstates of the pure confinement potential (bare hadrons) are coupled via meson loops. Following t…
Hadron--quark mixed phase is expected in a wide region of the inner structure of hybrid stars. However, we show that the hadron--quark mixed phase should be restricted to a narrower region to because of the charge screening effect. The narrow region of the mixed phase seems to explain physical phenomena of neutron stars such as the strong magnetic field and glitch phenomena, and it would give a new cooling curve for the neutron star.
We investigate systematically the quark-hadron mixed phase in dense stellar matter, and its influence on compact star structures. The properties of quark matter and hadronic matter are fixed based on various model predictions. Beside adopting constant values, the surface tension $Σ$ for the quark-hadron interface is estimated with the multiple reflection expansion method and equivparticle model. To fix the structures of quark-hadron pasta phases, a continuous dimensionality of the structure is adopted as proposed by Ravenhall, Pethick, and Wilson. The corresponding properties of hybrid stars a…
We discuss the properties of hadronic systems containing one heavy quark in the heavy quark limit. The heavy quark symmetry guarantees the mass degeneracy of the states with total spin and parity $(j-1/2)^{P}$ and $(j+1/2)^{P}$ with $j \geq 1/2$, because the heavy-quark spin is decoupled from the total spin $j$ of the light components called brown muck. We apply this idea to heavy multi-hadron systems, and formulate the general framework to analyze their properties. We demonstrate explicitly the spin degeneracy and the decomposition of the wave functions in exotic heavy hadron systems generate…
We study the production of charmed hadrons $D^{0}$ and $Λ_c^+$ in relativistic heavy-ion collisions using an improved quark coalescence model. In particular, we extend the usual coalescence model by letting a produced hadron to have the same velocity as the center-of-mass velocity of coalesced constituent quarks during hadronization to take into account the effect of collective flow in produced quark-gluon plasma. This results in a shift of charmed resonances of higher masses to larger transverse momenta ($p_T^{}$). Requiring all charm quarks of very low $p_T^{}$ to be converted to hadrons via…
We discuss recent results of hadron spectroscopy and hadron-hadron interaction within a quark model framework. New experimental data could point to the important role played by higher order Fock space components on low-energy observables. Our aim is to obtain a coherent description of the low-energy hadron phenomenology to constrain QCD phenomenological models and try to learn about low-energy realizations of the theory. This long-range effort is based in adapting few-body techniques to study many-quark systems.
We calculate the transport coefficients like shear viscosity and electrical conductivity with respect to density of dense hadronic and quark matter. By considering the simple massless limit for the quark matter and two different effective models for the hadronic matter, we have estimated the transport coefficients of the two phases separately. We have sketched the density profile of the transport coefficients in two parts viz. the phase-space part and the relaxation time part. By calculating the shear viscosity to density ratio, we have also explored the nearly perfect fluid domain of the quar…
The shear ($η$) and bulk ($ζ$) viscosities are calculated in a quasiparticle relaxation time approximation. The hadron phase is described within the relativistic mean field based model with scaled hadron masses and couplings. The quark phase is treated in terms of the heavy quark bag model fitted to the lattice data. A two-phase model allowing for the first order phase transition from the hadron phase to the strongly coupled quark gluon plasma is constructed by means of the Gibbs conditions. Temperature and baryon density dependence of the calculated viscosity-to-entropy ratios ($η/s$, $ζ/s$) …
A unified equation of state for quark-hadron matter is presented in the generalized Beth-Uhlenbeck form. It follows from a $Φ-$derivable approach to the thermodynamic potential where the ansatz for the $Φ$ functional contains all 2PI diagrams at two-loop order formed with quark cluster Green's functions for quark, diquark, meson and baryon propagators. We present numerical results using an effective model for the generic behaviour of hadron masses and phase shifts at finite temperature which shares basic features with recent developments within the PNJL model for correlations in quark matter. …
I discuss the deconfinement transition in 2+1 flavor QCD in terms of Polyakov loops as well as the hadron resonance gas for hadrons containing static quarks and charm quarks.
In this work we study the hadron-quark phase transition matching relativistic hadrodynamical mean-field models (in the hadronic phase) with the more updated versions of the Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio models (on the quark side). Systematic comparisons are performed showing that the predicted hadronic phases of the matching named as RMF-PNJL, are larger than the confined phase obtained exclusively by the Polyakov quark models. This important result is due to the effect of the nuclear force that causes more resistance of hadronic matter to isothermal compressions. For sake of comparison, we also…
We analyze the equation of state of 2+1 flavor lattice QCD at zero baryon density by constructing the simple quark-hadron hybrid model that has both quark and hadron components simultaneously. We calculate hadron and quark contribution separately and parameterizing those to match with LQCD data. Lattice data on the equation of state are decomposed into hadron and quark components by using the model. The transition temperature is defined by the temperature at which the hadron component is equal to the quark one in the equation of state. The transition temperature thus obtained is about 215 MeV …
In this contribution, we summarize our recent studies on the chiral invariant mass and the chiral condensates in neutron star matter. We construct a unified equations of state assuming the crossover phase transition from hadronic matter described by a parity doublet model to quark matter by an Nambu--Jona-Lasinio type quark model. We first show that the chiral invariant mass is constrained to be 600 MeV $\lesssim m_0 \lesssim$ 900 MeV from recent observations of neutron stars. We then determine the density dependence of the chiral condensate in the crossover description, and show that the chir…
A novel procedure for extracting hadron characteristics from QCD sum rules, based on effective continuum thresholds (necessary for the implementation of quark-hadron duality) which may depend on the involved momenta and on the Borel parameter(s), enables us to quantify the uncertainties induced by the quark-hadron duality approximation and to achieve a significantly higher accuracy of our predictions for the properties of hadronic bound states.
In this letter the dualities of thermodynamics of dense quark/hadronic matter are discussed. It is shown that chiral symmetry breaking (CSB) phenomenon is dual to charged pion condensation (PC) phenomenon.
Quark-hadron phase transition is simulated by an event generator that incorporates the dynamical properties of contraction due to QCD confinement forces and randomization due to the thermal behavior of a large quark system on the edge of hadronization. Fluctuations of emitted pions in the $(η,ϕ)$ space are analyzed using normalized factorial moments in a wide range of bin sizes. The scaling index $ν$ is found to be very close to the predicted value in the Ginzburg-Landau formalism. The erraticity indices $μ_q$ are determined in a number of ways that lead to the same consistent values. They are…
We investigate how the possible existence of hadronic bound states above the deconfinement transition temperature $T_c$ affects heavy-quark observables like the nuclear modification factor, the elliptic flow and azimuthal correlations. Lattice QCD calculations suggest that above $T_c$ the effective degrees of freedom might not be exclusively partonic but that a certain fraction of hadronic degrees of freedom might already form at higher temperatures. This is an interesting questions by itself but also has a strong influence on other probes of the strongly interacting matter produced in ultrare…
Identifying hadronic molecular states and/or hadrons with multi-quark components either with or without exotic quantum numbers is a long standing challenge in hadronic physics. We suggest that studying the production of these hadrons in relativistic heavy ion collisions offer a promising resolution to this problem as yields of exotic hadrons are expected to be strongly affected by their structures. Using the coalescence model for hadron production, we find that compared to the case of a non-exotic hadron with normal quark numbers, the yield of an exotic hadron is typically an order of magnitud…
