We establish endpoint estimates for a class of oscillating spectral multipliers on Lie groups of Heisenberg type. The analysis follows an earlier argument due to the second and fourth author but requires the detailed analysis of the wave equation on these groups due to Müller and Seeger. We highlight and develop the connection between sharp bounds for oscillating multipliers and the problem of determining the minimal amount of smoothness required for Mihlin-Hörmander multipliers, a problem that was solved for groups of Heisenberg type but remains open for other groups.
In the first part, we obtain sharp results for L^2 boundedness of strongly singular operators on the Heisenberg group. We also define the oscillating convolution operators on the Heisenberg group and study their boundedness properties. In the second part, we obtain the boundedness on Hardy spaces.
In this paper we prove weighted norm inequalities for Weyl multipliers satisfying Mauceri's condition. As applications of this we obtain some estimates for $L^p$ multipliers on the Heisenberg group and also show in the context of a theorem of Weis on operator valued Fourier multipliers that the R-boundedness of the derivative of the multiplier is not necessary for the boundedness of the multiplier transform.
In this paper, we consider oscillating convolution operotors on the Heisenberg group $H^n_a$ with respect to the norm $ρ(x,t) = ρ_1(b x, b t)$ with $ρ_1(x,t)= (|x|^4 + t^2)^{1/4}$. We obtain $L^2$ boundedness properties using the oscillatory integral estimates for degenerate phases in the Euclidean setting. Our result contains an improvement of the Lyall's result for the cases $\frac{a^2}{b^2} \geq C_β$.
Inspired by the work of A. Bonami and S. Poornima that a non-constant function which is homogeneous of degree $0$ cannot be a Fourier multiplier on homogeneous Sobolev spaces, we establish analogous results for Fourier multipliers on the Heisenberg group $ \mathbb{H}^n $ and Weyl multipliers on $ \mathbb{C}^n $ acting on Sobolev Spaces.
The Marcinkiewicz multipliers are $L^{p}$ bounded for $1<p<\infty $ on the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^{n}\simeq \mathbb{C}^{n}\times \mathbb{R}$ (Müller, Ricci and Stein \cite{MRS}). This is surprising in the sense that these multipliers are invariant under a two parameter group of dilations on $\mathbb{C}^{n}\times \mathbb{R}$, while there is \emph{no} two parameter group of \emph{automorphic} dilations on $\mathbb{H} ^{n}$. The purpose of this paper is to establish a theory of the flag Lipschitz space on the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^{n}\simeq \mathbb{C}^{n}\times \mathbb{R}$ in the sen…
Along the line of singular value estimates for commutators by Rochberg-Semmes, Lord-McDonald-Sukochev-Zanin and Fan-Lacey-Li, we establish the endpoint weak Schatten class estimate for commutators of Riesz transforms with multiplication operator $M_f$ on Heisenberg groups via homogeneous Sobolev norm of the symbol $f$. The new tool we exploit is the construction of a singular trace formula on Heisenberg groups, which, together with the use of double operator integrals, allows us to bypass the use of Fourier analysis and provides a solid foundation to investigate the singular values estimates f…
In [24, Theorem 2'] Charles Fefferman has proved the weak (1,1) boundedness for a class of oscillating singular integrals that includes the oscillating spectral multipliers of the Euclidean Laplacian $Δ,$ namely, operators of the form \begin{equation} T_θ(-Δ):= (1-Δ)^{-\frac{nθ}{4}}e^{i (1-Δ)^{\fracθ{2}}},\,0\leq θ<1. \end{equation} The aim of this work is to extend Fefferman's result to oscillating singular integrals on any arbitrary compact Lie group. Applications to oscillating spectral multipliers of the Laplace-Beltrami operator are also considered. The proof of our main theorem illustrat…
Let $L$ be a homogeneous sublaplacian on a 2-step stratified Lie group $G$ of topological dimension $d$ and homogeneous dimension $Q$. By a theorem due to Christ and to Mauceri and Meda, an operator of the form $F(L)$ is bounded on $L^p$ for $1 < p < \infty$ if $F$ satisfies a scale-invariant smoothness condition of order $s > Q/2$. Under suitable assumptions on $G$ and $L$, here we show that a smoothness condition of order $s > d/2$ is sufficient. This extends to a larger class of 2-step groups the results for the Heisenberg and related groups by Müller and Stein and by Hebisch, and for the f…
We characterise higher order Riesz transforms on the Heisenberg group and also show that they satisfy dimension-free bounds under some assumptions on the multipliers. Using transfer- ence theorems, we deduce boundedness theorems for Riesz trans- forms on the reduced Heisenberg group and hence also for the Riesz transforms associated to multiple Hermite and Laguerre ex- pansions.
A classical theorem of Mihlin yields Lp estimates for spectral multipliers Lp(R^d) -> Lp(R^d); g -> F^{-1}[f(| |^2) Fg] in terms of L^\infty bounds of the multiplier function f and its weighted derivatives up to an order > d/2. This theorem, which is a functional calculus for the standard Laplace operator, has generalisations in several contexts such as elliptic operators on domains and manifolds, Schrödinger operators and sublaplacians on Lie groups. However, for the wave equation functions f (s) = (1 + s)^{-α} e^{its} a better estimate is available, in the standard case (works of Miyachi and…
In this paper we discuss the $L^p$-$L^q$ boundedness of both spectral and Fourier multipliers on general locally compact separable unimodular groups $G$ for the range $1<p\leq q<\infty$. We prove a Lizorkin type multiplier theorem for $1<p\leq q<\infty$, and then refine it as a Hörmander type multiplier theorem for $1<p\leq 2\leq q<\infty$. In the process, we establish versions of Paley and Hausdorff-Young-Paley inequalities on general locally compact separable unimodular groups. As a consequence of the Hörmander type multiplier theorem we derive a spectral multiplier theorem on general locall…
We produce, on general homogeneous groups, an analogue of the usual Hörmander pseudodifferential calculus on Euclidean space, at least as far as products and adjoints are concerned. In contrast to earlier works, we do not limit ourselves to analogues of classical symbols, nor to the Heisenberg group. The key technique is to understand ``multipliers'' of any given order j, and the operators of convolution with their inverse Fourier transforms, which we here call convolution operators of order j. (Here a ``multiplier'' is an analogue of a Hörmander-type symbol a(x,ξ), which is independent of x.)…
We consider operators acting on a UMD Banach lattice $X$ that have the same algebraic structure as the position and momentum operators associated with the harmonic oscillator $-\frac12Δ+ \frac12|x|^{2} $ acting on $L^{2}(\mathbb{R}^{d})$. More precisely, we consider abstract harmonic oscillators of the form $\frac12 \sum _{j=1} ^{d}(A_{j}^{2}+B_{j}^{2})$ for tuples of operators $A=(A_{j})_{j=1} ^{d}$ and $B=(B_{k})_{k=1} ^{d}$, where $iA_j$ and $iB_k$ are assumed to generate $C_{0}$ groups and to satisfy the canonical commutator relations. We prove functional calculus results for these abstrac…
