It was shown recently that standard resummation of logarithms of $Q/p_T$ can be supplemented with the resummation of logarithmic contributions at large $x=Q^2/s$ in the case of a colourless final state such as Higgs produced via gluon fusion or the production of a lepton pair via Drell--Yan mechanism. Such an improved transverse momentum resummation takes into account soft emissions that are emitted at very small angles. We report on recent phenomenological studies of a combined threshold-improved $p_T$ and threshold resummation formalism to the Higgs boson produced at the LHC where small-$p_T$ and threshold logarithms are resummed up to NNLL and NNLL* respectively. We show that the effect of the modified $p_T$ resummation yields a faster perturbative convergence in the small-$p_T$ region while the effect of the threshold one improves the agreement with fixed-order calculations in the medium and large-$p_T$ regions.
Recent results on the Higgs plus jet production is reviewed. We have computed the two-loop amplitudes for $ gg \to Hg $, $ q\bar{q} \to Hg $ and $ qg \to Hq $ at the large Higgs transverse momentum. It was long-missing part of NLO corrections to the Higgs plus jet production above the top mass threshold. This results are combined with the real corrections to produce the Higgs boson transverse momentum distribution at NLO.
We investigate the possible role of linearly polarized gluons in Higgs production from unpolarized pp collisions. The transverse momentum distribution of the produced Higgs boson is found to exhibit a modulation with respect to the naive, unpolarized expectation, with the sign depending on the parity of the Higgs boson. The transverse momentum distribution of a scalar Higgs will, therefore, have a shape clearly different from a pseudoscalar Higgs. We suggest that this effect can be used to determine the parity of the Higgs at the LHC, without the need to use challenging angular distributions.
We study how gluons carrying linear polarization inside an unpolarized hadron contribute to the transverse momentum distribution of Higgs bosons produced in hadronic collisions. They modify the distribution produced by unpolarized gluons in a characteristic way that could be used to determine whether the Higgs boson is a scalar or a pseudoscalar particle.
Strategies for Higgs boson searches require the knowledge of the total production cross section and the transverse momentum spectrum. The large transverse momentum spectrum of the Higgs boson produced in gluon fusion can be quite different in the Standard Model and the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. In this paper we present a comparison of the Higgs transverse momentum spectrum obtained using the PYTHIA event generator and the HIGLU program as well as the program HQT, which includes NLO corrections and a soft gluon resummation for the region of small transverse momenta. While the shape…
We study the resummation of large logarithmic QCD corrections for the process pp ->H+ X when the Higgs boson H is produced at high transverse momentum. The corrections arise near the threshold for partonic reaction and originate from soft gluon emission. We perform the all-order resummation at next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy and match the resummed result with the next-to-leading order perturbative predictions. The effect of resummation on the Higgs transverse momentum distribution at the LHC is discussed.
We compute the two-loop QCD corrections to amplitudes for processes $g g \to H g, q g \to H q$ and $q \bar{q} \to H g$ in the limit when the Higgs transverse momentum is larger than the top quark mass, $p_\perp \gg m_t$. These amplitudes are important ingredients for understanding higher-order QCD effects on Higgs transverse momentum distribution at large $p_\perp$.
We investigate the form of the non-perturbative parameterization in both the impact parameter (b) space and transverse momentum (p_T) space resummation formalisms for the transverse momentum distribution of single massive bosons produced at hadron colliders. We propose to analyse data on Upsilon hadroproduction as a means of studying the non-perturbative contribution in processes with two gluons in the initial state. We also discuss the theoretical errors on the resummed Higgs transverse momentum distribution at the LHC arising from the non-perturbative contribution.
We examine the spin-dependence of standard model Higgs boson production at large transverse momentum via the processes $gg \rightarrow gH^0$, $qg \rightarrow qH^0$, and $q\overline{q} \rightarrow gH^0$. The partonic level spin-spin asymmetries ($\hat{a}_{LL}$) for these processes are large at SSC/LHC energies.
We investigate the gluon distribution functions and their contributions to the Higgs boson production in pp collisions in the transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism. In addition to the usual azimuthal symmetric transverse momentum dependent gluon distribution, we find that the azimuthal correlated gluon distribution also contributes to the Higgs boson production. This explains recent findings on the additional contribution in the transverse momentum resummation for the Higgs boson production as compared to that for electroweak boson production processes. We further examine the s…
We consider two possible sources of the $T$-violating muon transverse polarization in the process $K^+ \to μ^+ νγ$: electromagnetic final state interaction in the SM and contribution due to charged-Higgs exchange diagrams in the framework of the Weinberg three doublets model. It is shown that at the one-loop level of the SM the muon transverse polarization, $P_T^{SM}$, varies within $(0.0 ÷1.1 \cdot 10^{-3})$ in the Dalitz plot region. Averaged value of the muon polarization, $<P^{SM}_T>$, in the kinematic region of $E_γ\geq 20$ MeV is equal to $4.76\cdot 10^{-4}$. In the case of the model wit…
We combine soft and collinear matrix elements to define transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs) for gluons, free from rapidity divergences. We establish a factorization theorem at next-to-leading order for the Higgs boson transverse momentum ($q_T$) spectrum, and use it to derive evolution equations for gluon TMDs. The evolution for all gluon TMDs is driven by a universal kernel, i.e. the same for all polarizations. In the region of intermediate $q_T$ we match the unpolarized, helicity and linearly polarized gluon distributions onto PDFs. We calculate the resummed Higgs trans…
The resummed transverse momentum distribution of the Higgs boson in gluon fusion through LO+NLL for small transverse momenta is considered, where the Higgs is produced through a top- and bottom-quark loop. We study the mass effects with respect to the infinite top-mass approach. The top-mass effects are small and the heavy-top limit is valid to better than 4% as long as the Higgs' transverse momentum stays below 150 GeV. When the bottom loop is considered as well, the discrepancy reaches up to about 10%. We conclude that bottom-mass effects cannot be included in a reasonable manner by a naive …
A two Higgs doublet model is employed to study the production of a CP-odd Higgs boson ($A$) associated with a large transverse momentum jet ($j$) at hadron supercolliders. The cross section of $pp \to jA+X$ is evaluated with four subprocesses: $gg \to gA$, $gq \to qA$, $g\bar{q} \to \bar{q}A$ and $q\bar{q} \to gA$. We find that $pp \to jA+X$ is a significant source of CP-odd Higgs bosons at future hadron supercolliders.
The spin of the $τ$ lepton in the semiletonic process ${\bar{B}}^0\rightarrow D^{+} τ^- {\barν}$ can be polarized in the direction which is normal to the reaction plane, if the charged Higgs boson exists and its coupling to quarks has a complex phase. We calculate this transverse polarization of the $τ$ lepton by using the experimentally measured $B$ to $D$ transition form factors.
Utilizing the Higgs Effective Theory, including dimension eight operators, in conjuction with spinor-helicity and unitarity methods, I present analytic expressions for the virtual corrections for $gg\to Hg$ and $q\overline{q}\to Hg$ amplitudes at order $α_s^2/m_t^3$. These contributions become enhanced as the invariant final state mass increases.
We give next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) predictions for the Higgs production cross section at large transverse momentum in the threshold limit. Near the partonic threshold, all radiation is either soft or collinear to the final state jet which recoils against the Higgs boson. We find that the real emission corrections are of moderate size, but that the virtual corrections are large. We discuss the origin of these corrections and give numerical predictions for the transverse-momentum spectrum. The threshold result is matched to the known NLO result and implemented in the public code PeTeR.
We compute the resummed hadronic transverse energy (E_T) distribution due to initial-state QCD radiation in vector boson and Higgs boson production at hadron colliders. The resummed exponent, parton distributions and coefficient functions are treated consistently to next-to-leading order. The results are matched to fixed-order calculations at large E_T and compared with parton-shower Monte Carlo predictions at Tevatron and LHC energies.
The cross sections describing the transverse momentum distributions of Higgs bosons are discussed within the framework of unintegrated parton distributions obtained from the CCFM equations in the single loop approximation. It is shown how the approximate treatment of the CCFM equations generates the standard expressions describing the soft gluon resummation effects in the corresponding cross sections. Possible differences between exact and approximate solutions of the CCFM equations are discussed on the example of the gg -> H fusion mechanism, which gives the dominant contribution to Higgs pro…
In this paper we explore composite Higgs scenarios through the effects of light top-partners in Higgs+Jet production at the LHC. The pseudo-Goldstone boson nature of the Higgs field means that single-Higgs production via gluon fusion is insensitive to the mass spectrum of the top-partners. However in associated production this is not the case, and new physics scales may be probed. In the course of the work we consider scenarios with both one and two light top-partner multiplets in the spectrum of composite states. We study corrections to the Higgs couplings and the effects that the light top-p…
We apply QCD resummation techniques to study the transverse momentum distribution of Higgs bosons produced via gluon-gluon fusion at the LHC. In particular we focus on the joint resummation formalism which resums both threshold and transverse momentum corrections simultaneously. A comparison of results obtained in the joint and the standard recoil resummation frameworks is presented.
We compute the resummed hadronic transverse-energy ($E_T$) distribution due to initial-state QCD radiation in the production of a Standard Model Higgs boson of mass 126 GeV by gluon fusion at the Large Hadron Collider, with matching to next-to-leading order calculations at large $E_T$. Effects of hadronization, underlying event and limited detector acceptance are estimated using aMC@NLO with the Herwig++ and Pythia 8 event generators.
Inclusive associated production of a light Higgs boson (m_H < m_t) with one jet in pp collisions is studied in next-to-leading order QCD. Transverse momentum (p_T < 30 GeV) and rapidity distributions of the Higgs boson are calculated for the LHC in the large top-quark mass limit. It is pointed out that, as much as in the case of inclusive Higgs production, the K-factor of this process is large (~1.6) and depends weakly on the kinematics in a wide range of transverse momentum and rapidity intervals. Our result confirms previous suggestions that the production channel p+p -> H+jet -> gamma+gamma…
Effective Field Theories offer a consistent bottom-up approach to parametrise small deviations from Standard Model predictions. In this work we report on the application of the Effective Field Theory to shed light on effects from high-scale physics beyond the Standard Model on the Higgs transverse-momentum spectrum. The Standard Model prediction for the transverse-momentum distribution in Higgs boson production through gluon fusion is augmented by three new dimension-six operators, implying the modification of the top and bottom Yukawa couplings, and the inclusion of a point-like Higgs-gluon c…
Resummed QCD corrections to the transverse momentum ($Q_T$) distribution of the Standard Model Higgs boson, produced at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, are presented. The small $Q_T$ factorization formalism is reviewed, which is used to extend the standard hadronic factorization theorem to the low $Q_T$ region, with emphasis on the matching to the standard hadronic factorization. Comparison of the $Q_T$ predictions from the extended factorization and the parton shower method is performed.
We present the results of our recent study (arXiv:1510.08850) of the theoretical uncertainties that affect the predictions for the Higgs-boson transverse-momentum in gluon fusion when fixed- and all-order results are matched. Our investigation consists of a twofold analysis: first we present a detailed comparison of two recently introduced prescriptions for the determination of the matching scale (arXiv:1409.0531, arXiv:1505.00735), then we apply the results of these methods to three widely used matching frameworks, namely the aMC@NLO and POWHEG Monte Carlo approaches and analytic resummation.…
We consider the transverse-momentum distribution of a Higgs boson produced through gluon fusion in hadron collisions. At small transverse momenta, the large logarithmic terms are resummed up to next-to-leading-logarithmic (NLL) accuracy. The resummed computation is consistently matched to the next-to-leading-order (NLO) result valid at large transverse momenta. The ensuing Standard Model prediction is supplemented by possible new-physics effects parametrised through three dimension-six operators related to the modification of the top and bottom Yukawa couplings, and to the inclusion of a point…
We present perturbative predictions for the transverse momentum (q_T) distribution of the Higgs boson at the LHC. At small q_T the logarithmically-enhanced terms are resummed to all orders up to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. The resummed component is consistently matched to the next-to-leading order calculation valid at large q_T. The results, which implement the most advanced perturbative information that is available at present for this observable, show a good stability with respect to perturbative QCD uncertainties.
The transverse momentum ($p_T$) distribution of Higgs bosons at hadron colliders enables a detailed probe of its production dynamics and is a key ingredient to precision studies of Higgs boson properties, but receives very large QCD corrections. We obtain a precision prediction for the $p_T$ spectrum by matching second-order (NNLO) QCD corrections at large $p_T$ with resummation of third-order logarithmic (N$^3$LL) corrections at small $p_T$. We achieve significantly improved results for $p_T< 35\,{\rm GeV}$ with perturbative uncertainties $\lesssim \pm 6\%$, and thus a convergent perturbative…
We consider the extension of the transverse-momentum ($q_T$) subtraction method at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^3$LO) in perturbative QCD. While all the $q_T$-subtraction ingredients at $q_T \neq 0$ are known in analytical form, the third-order collinear functions and helicity-flip functions, which contribute only at $q_T=0$, are approximated using a prescription which uses the known result for the total Higgs boson cross section at this order. As a first application of the third-order $q_T$-subtraction method, we present the N$^3$LO rapidity distribution of the Higgs boson at the…
We study the impact of initial-state multiple parton radiation on transverse momentum $(q_T)$ distribution of Higgs boson produced via bottom quark fusion at hadron colliders. The shape of the resulting $q_T$ distribution is affected by the bottom-quark mass corrections and by the strong kinematical behavior of the bottom-quark parton density. We account for both features in the full range of $q_T$. To do this, we formulate the resummation calculation in a general-mass factorization (S-ACOT) scheme and introduce a correction in the resummed-term to account for the effect from large-$q_T$ kinem…
We present QCD predictions for the transverse momentum (q_T) distribution of the Higgs boson at the LHC. At small q_T the logarithmically-enhanced terms are resummed to all orders up to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. The resummed component is consistently matched to the next-to-leading order calculation valid at large q_T. The results, which implement the most advanced perturbative predictions available at present for this observable, show a good stability with respect to theoretical uncertainties. The numerical program HqT, used to perform the calculation, is briefly discussed.
Radiative corrections to gauge boson and Higgs production computed recently using soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) require the one-loop high-scale matching coefficients in the standard model. We give explicit expressions for the matching coefficients for the effective field theory (EFT) operators for q qbar -> VV and q qbar -> phi^+ phi for a general gauge theory with an arbitrary number of gauge groups. The group theory factors are given explicitly for the standard model, including both QCD and electroweak corrections.
Using methods from effective field theory, we have recently developed a novel, systematic framework for the calculation of the cross sections for electroweak gauge-boson production at small and very small transverse momentum q_T, in which large logarithms of the scale ratio m_V/q_T are resummed to all orders. This formalism is applied to the production of Higgs bosons in gluon fusion at the LHC. The production cross section receives logarithmically enhanced corrections from two sources: the running of the hard matching coefficient and the collinear factorization anomaly. The anomaly leads to t…
We study the prediction for the Higgs transverse momentum distribution in gluon fusion and focus on the problem of matching fixed- and all-order perturbative results. The main sources of matching ambiguities on this distribution are investigated by means of a twofold comparison. On the one hand, we present a detailed qualitative and quantitative comparison of two recently introduced algorithms for determining the matching scale. On the other hand, we apply the results of both methods to three widely used approaches for the resummation of logarithmically enhanced contributions at small transver…
Inclusive cross sections for Higgs boson production in proton-proton collisions are calculated in the formalism of unintegrated gluon distributions (UGDF). Different UGDF from the literature are used. Although they were constructed in order to describe the HERA deep-inelastic scattering $F_2$ data, they lead to surprisingly different results for Higgs production. We present both two-dimensional invariant cross section as a function of Higgs rapidity and transverse momentum, as well as corresponding projections on rapidity or transverse momentum. We quantify the differences between different UG…
We compute the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the production of Higgs bosons with large transverse momentum $p_\perp \gg 2 m_t$ at the LHC. To accomplish this, we combine the two-loop amplitudes for processes $gg \to Hg$, $qg \to Hq$ and $q \bar q \to H g$, recently computed in the approximation of nearly massless top quarks, with the numerical calculation of the squared one-loop amplitudes for $gg \to Hgg$, $q g \to H q g$ and $q \bar q \to Hgg$ processes. The latter computation is performed with OpenLoops. We find that the QCD corrections to the Higgs transverse momentum distributi…
After the Higgs boson discovery, LHC can be used as a precision machine to explore its properties. Indeed, in case new resonances will not be found, the only access to New Physics would be via measuring small deviations from the SM predictions. A consistent approach is provided by a bottom-up Effective Field Theory, with dimension six operators built of Standard Model fields (SMEFT). We discuss how this approach works in case of the transverse momentum spectrum of the Higgs particle. In our calculation we augmented the Standard Model with three additional operators describing modifications of …
We consider Higgs boson production by gluon fusion in hadron collisions. We study the doubly-differential transverse-momentum (q_T) and rapidity (y) distribution of the Higgs boson in perturbative QCD. In the region of small q_T (q_T << M_H, M_H being the mass of the Higgs boson), we include the effect of logarithmically-enhanced contributions due to multiparton radiation to all perturbative orders. We use the impact parameter and double Mellin moments to implement and factorize the multiparton kinematics constraint of transverse- and longitudinal-momentum conservation. The logarithmic terms a…
We consider Higgs boson pair production via gluon fusion in hadronic collisions. We report the calculation of the transverse-momentum ($q_T$) distribution of the Higgs boson pair with top-quark mass ($M_t$) effects fully taken into account. At small values of $q_T$ we resum the logarithmically-enhanced perturbative QCD contributions up to next-to-leading logarithmic (NLL) accuracy. At intermediate and large values of $q_T$ we consistently combine resummation with the ${\cal O}(α_S^3)$ fixed-order results. After integration over $q_T$, we recover the next-to-leading order (NLO) result for the i…
We study the effect of multiple parton radiation to Higgs boson plus jet production at the LHC, by applying the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) factorization formalism to resum large logarithmic contributions to all orders in the expansion of the strong interaction coupling. We show that the appropriate resummation scale should be the jet transverse momentum, rather than the partonic center of mass energy which has been normally used in the TMD resummation formalism. Furthermore, the transverse momentum distribution of the Higgs boson, particularly near the lower cut-off applied on the jet…
We perform detailed study of the Higgs production and decay, when Higgs is emitted from the black holes produced in proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. We show that black hole production can significantly enhance the signal for the Higgs search at the LHC. We evaluate rapidity distribution of diphotons and transverse momentum distribution of bottom quarks, photons, tau leptons, top quarks and W bosons from Higgs decay, when Higgs is emitted from the black hole and also in case when these particles are produced directly from the black hole evaporation. We compare our results …
We consider the transverse-momentum (q_T) distribution of generic high-mass systems (lepton pairs, vector bosons, Higgs particles, ....) produced in hadron collisions. At small q_T, we concentrate on the all-order resummation of the logarithmically-enhanced contributions in QCD perturbation theory. We elaborate on the $b$-space resummation formalism and introduce some novel features: the large logarithmic contributions are systematically exponentiated in a process-independent form and, after integration over q_T, they are constrained by perturbative unitarity to give a vanishing contribution t…
We derive a general resummation formula for transverse-momentum distributions of hard processes at the leading logarithmic level in the high-energy limit, to all orders in the strong coupling. Our result is based on a suitable generalization of high-energy factorization theorems, whereby all-order resummation is reduced to the determination of the Born-level process but with incoming off-shell gluons. We validate our formula by applying it to Higgs production in gluon fusion in the infinite top mass limit. We check our result up to next-to-leading order by comparison to the high energy limit o…
In this paper, the soft gluon resummation effect in the Higgs boson plus two-jet production at the LHC is studied. By applying the transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism, the large logarithms introduced by the small total transverse momentum of the Higgs boson plus two-jet final state system, are resummed to all orders in the expansion of the strong interaction coupling at the accuracy of Next-to-Leading Logarithm. We also compare our result with the prediction of the Monte Carlo event generator Pythia8, and found noticeable difference in the distributions of the total transvers…
We discuss the parton branching (PB) evolution equation for transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution functions (PDFs), especially we concentrate on the angular ordering constrain and its effect on the TMD distributions. We discuss application of the PB TMDs to precise prediction of Drell-Yan transverse momentum spectrum at LHC, stressing the role of angular ordering in the low transverse momentum region. We compare the PB implementation of the angular ordering condition with the Kimber-Martin-Ryskin-Watt (KMRW), both at the analytical and numerical level.
We present a next-to-leading order calculation of H+jet in gluon fusion including the effect of a finite top quark mass $m_t$ at large transverse momenta. Using the recently published two-loop amplitudes in the high energy expansion and our previous setup that includes finite $m_t$ effects in a low energy expansion, we are able to obtain $m_t$-finite results for transverse momenta below 225 GeV and above 500 GeV with negligible remaining top quark mass uncertainty. The only remaining region that has to rely on the common leading order rescaling approach is the threshold region $\sqrt{\hat s}\s…
The transverse momentum $Q_T$ distribution is computed for inclusive Higgs boson production at $\sqrt{S} = 1.96$ TeV. We include all-orders resummation of large logarithms associated with emission of soft gluons at small $Q_T$. We provide results for Higgs boson and $Z^*$ masses from $M_Z$ to 200 GeV. The relatively hard transverse momentum distribution for Higgs boson production suggests possibilities for improvement of the signal to background ratio.
We present a fully analytic calculation of the Higgs boson transverse momentum and rapidity distributions, for nonzero Higgs $p_\perp$, at next-to-leading order in the infinite-top-mass approximation. We separate the cross section into a part that contains the dominant soft, virtual, collinear, and small-$p_\perp$-enhanced contributions, and the remainder, which is organized by the contributions due to different parton helicities. We use this cross section to investigate analytically the small-$p_\perp$ limit and compare with the expectation from the resummation of large logarithms of the type…
We present a factorization formula for the inclusive production of the Higgs boson at large transverse momentum $P_T$ that includes all terms with the leading power of $1/P_T^2$. The cross section is factorized into convolutions of parton distributions, infrared-safe hard-scattering cross sections for producing a parton, and fragmentation functions that give the distribution of the longitudinal momentum fraction of the Higgs relative to the fragmenting parton. The infrared-safe cross sections and the fragmentation functions are perturbatively calculable. The factorization formula enables the r…
In the production of the Higgs through a bottom-quark loop, the transverse momentum distribution of the Higgs at large $P_T$ is complicated by its dependence on two other important scales: the bottom quark mass $m_b$ and the Higgs mass $m_H$. A strategy for simplifying the calculation of the cross section at large $P_T$ is to calculate only the leading terms in its expansion in $m_b^2/P_T^2$. In this paper, we consider the bottom-quark-loop contribution to the parton process $q\bar{q}\to H+g$ at leading order in $α_s$. We show that the leading power of $1/P_T^2$ can be expressed in the form of…
We present a factorization formula for the inclusive production of the Higgs boson at large transverse momentum $P_T$ that includes all terms with the leading power of $1/P_T^2$. The most important fragmentation functi…
A muon collider with controllable energy resolution and transverse beam polarization provides a powerful probe of the Higgs sector in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with explicit CP violation, through s-channel production of Higgs bosons. The production rates and the CP-even and CP-odd transverse-polarization asymmetries are complementary in diagnosing CP violation in the Higgs sector.
The resummed transverse momentum distribution of supersymmetric Higgs bosons produced through gluon fusion at NLO+NLL is presented, including the exact quark and squark mass dependences. Considering various MSSM scenarios, we compare our results to previous ones within the POWHEG approach. We analyze the impact of the bottom loop which becomes the dominant contribution to the gluon fusion cross section for a wide range of the parameter space for the pseudo-scalar and heavy Higgs.
Using asymptotic helicity amplitudes for Vector-Vector, Vector-Higgs and Higgs-Higgs scattering, we establish the unitarity constraints on the $SU(2)_c$ conserving and $W_μ$ depending interactions, which at sufficiently high energies may create strong forces among the transverse vector boson and Higgs states. We then derive upper bounds for the couplings of these interactions, which depend on the high energy scale where unitarity is saturated. If \eg\, unitarity is saturated at 1TeV, then $λ_W \lsim 0.12$ is obtained. The implied relations between the present and future LEP results, and the po…
We consider the transverse-momentum (q_T) distribution of Standard Model Higgs bosons produced by gluon fusion in hadron collisions. At small q_T (q_T<<m_H, m_H being the mass of the Higgs boson), we resum the logarithmically-enhanced contributions due to multiple soft-gluon emission to all order in QCD perturbation theory. At intermediate and large values of q_T (q_T <~m_H), we consistently combine resummation with the known fixed-order results. We use the most advanced perturbative information that is available at present: next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic resummation combined with the nex…
We provide a precise description of the Higgs boson transverse momentum distribution including top and bottom quark contributions, that is valid for transverse momenta in the range mb < pt < mt, where mb and mt are the bottom and top quark masses. This description is based on a combination of fixed next-to-leading order (NLO) results with next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNLL) transverse momentum resummation. We show that ambiguities in the resummation procedure for the b-quark loops are of the same order as the related fixed-order uncertainties. We conclude that the current uncertainty in…
Using the similarity between twist 3 contributions to transverse spin for usual parton distributions and transverse momentum for non-diagonal parton distributions, we determine for the simple case of a scalar (pion, $He^4$) target the linear in transverse momentum twist-3 contribution to Deeply Virtual Compton amplitude. This allows to write a gauge invariant amplitude for this non-forward process.
Quarkonium production in hadron collisions at low transverse momentum $q_\perp \ll M$ with $M$ as the quarkonium mass can be used for probing transverse momentum dependent (TMD) gluon distributions. For this purpose, one needs to establish the TMD factorization for the process. We examine the factorization at the one-loop level for the production of $η_c$ or $η_b$. The perturbative coefficient in the factorization is determined at one-loop accuracy. Comparing the factorization derived at tree level and that beyond the tree level, a soft factor is, in general, needed to completely cancel soft d…
