The Wheeler equation, for electromagnetic disturbances in a gravitational field, was found by Fiziev to have exact solutions both above and below the event horizon, in the form of waves propagating both inwardly and outwardly. This observation can be interpreted and verified from the optical point of view, entirely on the basis of the Schwarzschild metric for length contraction and time dilation, in order to derive a differential version of Snell's law for the Schwarzschild black hole. It reveals interesting physics, including the correct amount of light deflection by the Sun, internal and external Oppenheimer-Snyder cones of the black hole, properties of its phonon sphere and the conclusion that light-rays are kept below the horizon by length contraction and time dilation rather than deflection.
Based on the perspective that continuum gravitational physics is an emergent quantum gravitational phenomenon, and that spacetime thermodynamic is the natural langauge in which it can be described, we derive a modified Schwarzschild-de Sitter geometry in static coordinates from quantum gravity inspired logarithmic corrections to the entropy-area law. The resulting quantum corrections to classical geometry can be encoded in explicitly radius dependent black hole and cosmological constant parameters. By considering the pure black hole case we study linear perturbations on this modified backgroun…
Verification of the First Law of Horizon Thermodynamics for Schwarzschild, Reissner-Nordström, Kerr, and Kerr-Newman Black Holes in Four-Dimensional f(R) Gravity with Dual Scalar Fields
This paper deals with quantum field theory in curved space-time using the Thermo Field Dynamics. The scalar field is coupled to the Schwarzschild space time and then thermalised. The Stefan-Boltzmann law is established at finite temperature and the entropy of the field is calculated. Then the Casimir energy and pressure are obtained at zero and finite temperature.
Using a graphical analysis, we show that for the horizon radius $r_h\gtrsim 4.8\sqrtθ$, the standard semiclassical Bekenstein-Hawking area law for noncommutative Schwarzschild black hole exactly holds for all orders of $θ$. We also give the corrections to the area law to get the exact nature of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy when $r_h<4.8\sqrtθ$ till the extremal point $r_h=3.0\sqrtθ$.
We show the importance of the Voros product in defining a noncommutative Schwarzschild black hole. The corrected entropy/area-law is then computed in the tunneling formalism. Two types of corrections are considered; one, due to the effects of noncommutativity and the other, due to the effects of going beyond the semiclassical approximation. The leading correction to the semiclassical entropy/area-law is logarithmic and its coefficient involves the noncommutative parameter.
We use Fermi coordinates to calculate the canonical partition function for an ideal gas in a circular geodesic orbit in Schwarzschild spacetime. To test the validity of the results we prove theorems for limiting cases. We recover the Newtonian gas law subject only to tidal forces in the Newtonian limit. Additionally we recover the special relativistic gas law as the radius of the orbit increases to infinity. We also discuss how the method can be extended to the non ideal gas case.
We study the conditions required for validity of the generalized second law in phantom dominated universe in the presence of Schwarzschild black hole. Our study is independent of the origin of the phantom like behavior of the considered universe. We also discuss the generalized second law in the neighborhood of transition (from quintessence to phantom regime) time. We show that even for a constant equation of state parameter the generalized second law may be satisfied provided the temperature is not taken as de Sitter temperature. It is shown that in models with (only) a transition from quinte…
The $n$-time generalization of Schwarzschild solution is considered. The equations of geodesics for the metric are integrated. The multitemporal analogues of Newton laws for the extended objects described by the solution are suggested. The scalar-vacuum generalization of the solution is also presented.
The mechanical first law (MFL) of black hole spacetimes is a geometrical relation which relates variations of mass parameter and horizon area. While it is well known that the MFL of asymptotic flat black hole is equivalent to its thermodynamical first law, however we do not know the detail of MFL of black hole spacetimes with cosmological constant which possess black hole and cosmological event horizons. Then this paper aims to formulate an MFL of the two-horizon spacetimes. For this purpose, we try to include the effects of two horizons in the MFL. To do so, we make use of the Iyer-Wald forma…
The computation of the gravitational radiation emitted by a particle falling into a Schwarzschild black hole is a classic problem studied already in the 1970s. Here we present a detailed numerical analysis of the case of radial infall starting at infinity with no initial velocity. We compute the radiated waveforms, spectra and energies for multipoles up to l = 6, improving significantly on the numerical accuracy of existing results. This is done by integrating the Zerilli equation in the frequency domain using the Green's function method. The resulting wave exhibits a "ring-down" phase whose d…
It is shown that that the area law for the entropy of a quantum field in the Schwarzschild black hole is due to the quantum statistics. The entropies for one particle, a Boltzmann gas, a quantum mechanical gas obeying Bose-Einstein or Fermi-Dirac statistics, and a quantum field in the Schwarzschild black hole are calculated using the microcanonical ensemble approach and the brick wall method. The area law holds only when the effect of quantum statistics is dominated.
The late-time evolution of Dirac field around spherically symmetric black hole surrounded by quintessece is studied numerically. Our results show, for lower values of the quintessence state parameter ε, Dirac field decays as power-law tail but with a slower decay rate than the corresponding Schwarzschild case. But for ε<-1/3, all the \ell-poles of the Dirac field give up the power-law decay form and relax to a constant residual field at asymptotically late times. The value of this residual field for which the field settles down varies on different surfaces. It has the lowest value on the black…
We study thermodynamics of the Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole in five dimensions by introducing two temperatures based on the standard and Bousso-Hawking normalizations. We use the first-law of thermodynamics to derive thermodynamic quantities. The two temperatures indicate that the Nariai black hole is thermodynamically unstable. However, it seems that black hole thermodynamics favors the standard normalization, and does not favor the Bousso-Hawking normalization.
The evolution of scalar, electromagnetic and gravitational fields around spherically symmetric black hole surrounded by quintessence are studied with special interest on the late-time behavior. In the ring down stage of evolution, we find in the evolution picture that the fields decay more slowly due to the presence of quintessence. As the quintessence parameter εdecreases, the decay of l=0 mode of scalar field gives up the power-law form of decay and relaxes to a constant residual field at asymptotically late times. The l>0 modes of scalar, electromagnetic and gravitational fields show a powe…
A strict derivation of the Schwarzschild metric, based solely on Newton's law of free fall and the equivalence principle, is presented. In the light of it, regarding Schwarzschild's coordinates as representing the point of view of a distant observer resting relative to the source of a centrally symmetric gravitational field, proves illegitimate. Such point of view is better represented by the Painleve-Gullstrand system of coordinates, which agrees with Schwarzschild's system with respect to its spatial coordinates and time scale, but disagrees with respect to the relation of simultaneity. A du…
Now that English translations of Schwarzschild's original paper exist, that paper has become accessible to more people. Historically, the so-called "standard Schwarzschild solution" was not the original Schwarzschild's work, but it is actually due to J. Droste and, independently, H. Weyl, while it has been ultimately enabled like correct solution by D. Hilbert. Based on this, there are authors who claim that the work of Hilbert was wrong and that Hilbert's mistake spawned black-holes and the community of theoretical physicists continues to elaborate on this falsehood, with a hostile shouting d…
Motivated by some earlier works \cite{pavon,sadjadi} dealing with the study of generalized second law (GSL) of thermodynamics for a system comprising of a Schwarzschild black accreting a test non-self-gravitating fluid namely phantom energy in FRW universe, we extend them when the entropy of horizons of black hole and the cosmological undergo quantum corrections. Two types of such corrections are relevant here including logarithmic and power-law, while both are motivated from different theoretical backgrounds. We obtain general mathematical conditions for the validity of GSL in each case. Furt…
We investigate the late-time behavior of the massive vector field in the background of the Schwarzschild and Schwarzschild-de Sitter black holes. For Schwarzschild black hole, at intermediately late times the massive vector field is represented by three functions with different decay law $Ψ_{0} \sim t^{-(\ell + 3/2)} \sin{m t}$, $Ψ_{1} \sim t^{-(\ell + 5/2)} \sin{m t}$, $Ψ_{2} \sim t^{-(\ell + 1/2)} \sin{m t}$, while at asymptotically late times the decay law $Ψ\sim t^{-5/6} \sin{(m t)}$ is universal, and does not depend on the multipole number $\ell$. Together with previous study of massive s…
We consider the time evolution of a scalar field propagating in Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime. At early times, the field behaves as if it were in pure Schwarzschild spacetime; the structure of spacetime far from the black hole has no influence on the evolution. In this early epoch, the field's initial outburst is followed by quasi-normal oscillations, and then by an inverse power-law decay. At intermediate times, the power-law behavior gives way to a faster, exponential decay. At late times, the field behaves as if it were in pure de Sitter spacetime; the structure of spacetime near the bl…
We consider in this work the asymptotics of a Maxwell field in Schwarzschild and Kerr spacetimes. In any subextremal Kerr spacetime, we show energy and pointwise decay estimates for all components under an assumption of a basic energy and Morawetz estimate for spin $\pm 1$ components. If restricted to slowly rotating Kerr, we utilize the basic energy and Morawetz estimates proven in an earlier work to further improve these decay estimates such that the total power of decay for all components of Maxwell field is $-7/2$. In the end, depending on if the Newman--Penrose constant vanishes or not, w…
In this manuscript, we consider a deformation on the Heisenberg algebra and investigate the effects on the thermodynamics of the Schwarzschild black hole that is surrounded by quintessence matter. To this end, we obtain the temperature, entropy, and heat capacity functions of the black hole by using the standard laws of thermodynamic according to the considered deformation. We show that upper and lower bound values appear on these functions based on the quintessence and deformed algebra. Then, we derive the corrected density of quintessence matter and the black hole's equation of state functio…
Price's Law states that linear perturbations of a Schwarzschild black hole fall off as $t^{-2\ell-3}$ for $t \to \infty$ provided the initial data decay sufficiently fast at spatial infinity. Moreover, if the perturbations are initially static (i.e., their time derivative is zero), then the decay is predicted to be $t^{-2\ell-4}$. We give a proof of $t^{-2\ell-2}$ decay for general data in the form of weighted $L^1$ to $L^\infty$ bounds for solutions of the Regge--Wheeler equation. For initially static perturbations we obtain $t^{-2\ell-3}$. The proof is based on an integral representation of …
We revisit a little known theorem due to Beltrami, through which the integration of the geodesic equations of a curved manifold is accomplished by a method which, even if inspired by the Hamilton-Jacobi method, is purely geometric. The application of this theorem to the Schwarzschild and Kerr metrics leads straightforwardly to the general solution of their geodesic equations. This way of dealing with the problem is, in our opinion, very much in keeping with the geometric spirit of general relativity. In fact, thanks to this theorem we can integrate the geodesic equations by a geometrical metho…
By allowing the lightcones to tip over according to the conservation laws of an one-kink in static, Schwarzschild metric, we show that there also exists an instanton which represents production of pairs of chargeless, nonrotating black holes with mass $M$, joined on an interior surface beyond the horizon ar $r=M$. Evaluation of the thermal properties of each of the black hole in a pair leads one to check that each black hole is exactly the antiblack hole to the other black hole in the pair. The instantonic action has been calculated and seen to be smaller than that corresponding to pair produc…
We present a time dependent isotropic fluid solution around a Schwarzschild black hole. We offer the solutions and discuss the effects on the field equations and the horizon. We derive the energy density, pressure and the equation of state parameter. In the second part, we generalize the rotating black hole solution to an expanding universe. We derive from the proposed metric the special solutions of the field equations for the dust approximation and the dark energy solution. We show that the presence of a rotating black hole does not modify the scale factor $b(t)=t^{2/3}$ law for dust, nor $b…
We consider a spacetime with empty Schwarzschild-de Sitter exterior and Schwarzschild-de Sitter interior metric for a spherical fluid with constant density. The fluid interior may be taken to represent a galaxy supercluster, for which the proper distance from the center of the supercluster to the cosmological horizon has the same order of magnitude as the Hubble radius derived from Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmologies. The fluid interior and surrounding vacuum may also be considered as a model of the Local Group of galaxies in the far future. Particle motion is subject both to the attr…
We discuss the generalized second law of thermodynamics in three different systems by taking quantum corrections (logarithmic and power law) to cosmological horizon entropy as well as black hole entropy. Firstly, we consider phantom energy accretion onto the Schwarzschild black hole in the closed FRW universe and investigate validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics on the apparent and event horizons. In another scenario, we evaluate the critical mass of the Schwarzschild black hole with upper and lower bounds under accretion process due to phantom-like modified generalized chap…
We apply a new analytic scheme, developed in a preceding paper, in order to calculate the late time behavior of scalar test fields evolving outside a Schwarzschild black hole. The pattern of the late time decay at future null infinity is found to be the same as in the shell toy-model studied in the preceding paper. A simple late time expansion of the scalar field is then used, relying on the results at null infinity, to construct a complete picture of the late time wave behavior anywhere outside the black hole. This reproduces the well known power-law tails at time-like infinity and along the …
It is well-known that the dominant late time behavior of waves propagating on a Schwarzschild spacetime is a power-law tail; tails for other spacetimes have also been studied. This paper presents a systematic treatment of the tail phenomenon for a broad class of models via a Green's function formalism and establishes the following. (i) The tail is governed by a cut of the frequency Green's function $\tilde G(ω)$ along the $-$~Im~$ω$ axis, generalizing the Schwarzschild result. (ii) The $ω$ dependence of the cut is determined by the asymptotic but not the local structure of space. In particular…
The central equations in classical general relativity are the Einstein Field Equations, which accurately describe not only the generation of pseudo-Riemannian curvature by matter and radiation manifesting as gravitational effects, but more importantly mass-energy dynamics, evolution and distribution on the space-time manifold. Herein, we introduce a geometric phase in general relativity corresponding to Schwarzschild black hole information content. This quantity appropriately satisfies a local conservation law subject to minimal coupling, with other desirable properties such as the quantizatio…
We study a solution of the Einstein's equations generated by a self-gravitating, anisotropic, static, non-singular matter fluid. The resulting Schwarzschild like solution is regular and accounts for smearing effects of noncommutative fluctuations of the geometry. We call this solution regular Schwarzschild spacetime. In the presence of an Anti-deSitter cosmological term, the regularized metric offers an extension of the Hawking-Page transition into a van der Waals-like phase diagram. Specifically the regular Schwarzschild-Anti-deSitter geometry undergoes a first order small/large black hole tr…
We investigate the effect of quantum correction on Hawking radiation for Schwarzschild black holes. We consider Hawking temperature and entropy to order G^2 and find that the area law of black holes should be modified. We think of Hawking radiation as tunneling and find that at certain frequency ω the radiation spectrum of black holes can be pure blackbody spectrum. Therefore, it is possible to break down information conservation. In order to ensure information conservation at any energy scales, we suggest that black holes cannot release all information they have. We briefly discuss the bound …
The Schwarzschild star is an ultracompact object beyond the Buchdahl limit, which has Schwarzschild geometry outside its surface and positive pressure in the external layer which vanishes at the surface. Recently it has been shown that the Schwarzschild star is stable against spherically symmetric perturbations. Here we study arbitrary axial nonspherical perturbations, and show that the observable quasinormal modes can be as close to the Schwarzschild limit as one wishes, what makes the Schwarzschild star a very good mimicker of a black hole. The decaying time-domain profiles prove that the Sc…
We studied the anti-evaporation of degenerate Schwarzschild-de Sitter black hole (so-called Nariai space-time) in modified $F(R)$ gravity. The analysis of perturbations of the Nariai black hole is done with the conclusion that anti-evaporation may occur in such a theory already on classical level. For several power-law $F(R)$ gravities which may describe the inflation and/or dark energy eras we presented the theory parameters bounds for occurrence of anti-evaporation and conjectured creation of infinite number of horizons.
Linear field perturbations of a black hole are described by the Green function of the wave equation that they obey. After Fourier decomposing the Green function, its two natural contributions are given by poles (quasinormal modes) and a largely unexplored branch cut in the complex-frequency plane. We present new analytic methods for calculating the branch cut on a Schwarzschild black hole for arbitrary values of the frequency. The branch cut yields a power-law tail decay for late times in the response of a black hole to an initial perturbation. We determine explicitly the first three orders in…
The importance of the Voros product in defining a noncommutative Schwarzschild black hole is shown. The entropy is then computed and the area law is shown to hold upto order $\frac{1}{\sqrtθ}e^{-M^2/θ}$. The leading correction to the entropy (computed in the tunneling formalism) is shown to be logarithmic. The Komar energy $E$ for these black holes is then obtained and a deformation from the conventional identity $E=2ST_H$ is found at the order $\sqrtθe^{-M^2/θ}$. This deformation leads to a nonvanishing Komar energy at the extremal point $T_{H}=0$ of these black holes. Finally, the Smarr form…
It has recently been suggested [S. B. Giddings, Phys. Lett. B {\bf 754}, 39 (2016)] that the Hawking black-hole radiation spectrum originates from an effective quantum "atmosphere" which extends well outside the black-hole horizon. In particular, comparing the Hawking radiation power of a $(3+1)$-dimensional Schwarzschild black hole of horizon radius $r_{\text{H}}$ with the familiar Stefan-Boltzmann radiation power of a $(3+1)$-dimensional flat space perfect blackbody emitter, Giddings concluded that the source of the Hawking semi-classical black-hole radiation is a quantum region outside the …
In this paper, we investigate the thermodynamical properties of Schwarzschild-Beltrami-de Sitter black hole introduced by Mu-Lin Yan \textit{et al.} in 2013 by introducing inertial Beltrami coordinates to traditional non-inertial Schwarzschild-de Sitter metric which is the exact static spherical symmetry solution of Einstein equation with a positive cosmological constant $Λ$. Based on this new metric, we compute entropy on all horizons and we give the entropy bound of the black hole. Hawking temperatures are calculated by considering a perturbation to entropy relations due to that the spacetim…
Universal horizons in Hořava-Lifshitz gravity and Einstein-æther theory are the equivalent of causal horizons in general relativity and appear to have many of the same properties, including a first law of horizon thermodynamics and thermal radiation. Since universal horizons are infrared solutions of a putative power counting renormalizable quantum gravitational theory, fully understanding their thermodynamics will shed light on the interplay between black hole thermodynamics and quantum gravity. In this paper, we provide a complete classification, including asymptotic charges, of all four dim…
Over the last decades, many methods were developed to prove Hawking radiation. Recently, a semiclassical method known as the tunneling method has been proposed as a more straightforward way of derivating black hole thermodynamical properties. This method has been widely applied to a vast sort of spacetimes with satisfactory results. In this work, we obtain the black hole thermodynamics in the presence of a Lorentz symmetry breaking (LSB). We apply the Hamilton-Jacobi method to Schwarzschild-like black holes, and we investigate whether the LSB affects their thermodynamics. The results found sho…
Based on the perturbation expansion, we compute the noncommutative corrections to the minimal surface areas of the pure AdS spacetime and Schwarzschild-AdS black hole, where the noncommutative background is suitably constructed in terms of the Poincaré coordinate system. In particular, we find a reasonable tetrad with subtlety, which not only matches the metrics of the pure AdS spacetime and Schwarzschild-AdS black hole in the commutative case, but also makes the corrections real rather than complex in the noncommutative case. For the pure AdS spacetime, the nocommutative effect is only a loga…
The massive particles tunneling method has been used to investigate the Hawking non-thermal and purely thermal radiations of Schwarzschild Anti-de Sitter (SAdS) black hole. Considering the spacetime background to be dynamical, incorporate the self-gravitation effect of the emitted particles the imaginary part of the action has been derived from Hamilton-Jacobi equation. Using the conservation laws of energy and angular momentum we have showed that the non-thermal and purely thermal tunneling rates are related to the change of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy and the derived emission spectrum deviate…
