Recently, Halder \emph{et al.} [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{122}, 040403 (2019)] proposed the concept strong nonlocality without entanglement: an orthogonal set of fully product states in multipartite quantum systems that is locally irreducible for every bipartition of the subsystems. As the difficulty of the problem, most of the results are restricted to tripartite systems. Here we consider a weaker form of nonlocality called local distinguishability based genuine nonlocality. A set of orthogonal multipartite quantum states is said to be genuinely nonlocal if it is locally indistinguishable for every bipartition of the subsystems. In this work, we tend to study the latter form of nonlocality. First, we present an elegant set of product states in bipartite systems that is locally indistinguishable. After that, based on a simple observation, we present a general method to construct genuinely nonlocal sets of multipartite product states by using those sets that are genuinely nonlocal but with less parties. As a consequence, we obtain that genuinely nonlocal sets of fully product states exist for all possible multipartite quantum systems.
Bell nonlocality can be formulated in terms of a resource theory with local-hidden variable models as resourceless objects. Two such theories are known, one built upon local operations assisted by shared randomness (LOSRs) and the other one allowing, in addition, for prior-to-input classical communication. We show that prior communication, although unable to create nonlocality, leads to wirings not only beyond LOSRs but also not contained in a much broader class of (nonlocality-generating) global wirings. Technically, this is shown by proving that it can improve the statistical distinguishabil…
The relation between entanglement and nonlocality is discussed in the case of multipartite quantum systems. We show that, for any number of parties, there exist genuinely multipartite entangled states which admit a fully local hidden variable model, i.e. where all parties are separated. Hence, although these states are entangled in the strongest possible sense, they cannot lead to Bell inequality violation considering general non-sequential local measurements. Then, we show that the nonlocality of these states can nevertheless be activated using sequences of local measurements, thus revealing …
Nonlocal correlations arising from measurements on tripartite entangled states can be classified into two groups, one genuinely $3-$way nonlocal and other local with respect to some bipartition. Still, whether a genuinely tripartite entangled quantum state can exhibit genuine $3-$way nonlocality, remains a challenging problem so far as measurement context is concerned. Here we introduce a novel approach in this regard. We consider three tripartite quantum states none of which is genuinely $3-$way nonlocal in a specific Bell scenario (three parties, two measurements per party, two outcomes per …
Local measurements on bipartite maximally entangled states can yield correlations that are maximally nonlocal, monogamous, and associated to fully random outcomes. This makes these states ideal for bipartite cryptographic tasks. Genuine-multipartite nonlocality constitutes a stronger notion of nonlocality that appears in the multipartite case. Maximal genuine-multipartite nonlocality, monogamy and full random outcomes are thus highly desired properties for multipartite correlations in intrinsically genuine-multipartite cryptographic scenarios. We prove that local measurements on Greenberger-Ho…
There are multipartite entangled states in many-body systems which may be potential resources in various quantum applications. There are lots of methods to witness specific entangled systems. However, no efficient method is available to explore many-body systems without multipartite entanglement. It may provide necessary restrictions for experimental preparations of multipartite entanglement. Our goal is to solve this problem for spin systems. The maximal effective velocity with propagation of information is bounded in quantum spin systems with short-range interactions from Lieb-Robinson's ine…
Understanding the relation between nonlocality and entanglement is one of the fundamental problems in quantum physics. In the bipartite case, it is known that the correlations observed for some entangled quantum states can be explained within the framework of local models, thus proving that these resources are inequivalent in this scenario. However, except for a single example of an entangled three-qubit state that has a local model, almost nothing is known about such relation in multipartite systems. We provide a general construction of genuinely multipartite entangled states that do not disp…
In this paper we present a necessary and sufficient condition of distinguishability of bipartite quantum states. It is shown that the operators to reliably distinguish states need only rounds of projective measurements and classical comunication. We also present a necessary condition of distinguishability of bipartite quantum states which is simple and general. With this condition one can get many cases of indistinguishability. The conclusions may be useful in understanding the essence of nonlocality and calculating the distillable entanglement and the bound of distillable entanglement.
We study the dynamics of genuine multipartite entanglement for quantum systems upto four qubits interacting with general collective dephasing process. Using a computable entanglement monotone for multipartite systems, we observe the feature of freezing dynamics of genuine entanglement for three and four qubits entangled states. We compare the dynamics with that of random states and find that most states exibit this feature. We then study the effects of collective dephasing on genuine nonlocality and find out that although quantum states remain genuinely entangled yet their genuine nonlocality …
Now, the known ensembles of orthogonal states which are distinguishable by local operators and classical communication (LOCC) satisfy the condition that the sum of Schmidit numbers of the orthogonal states is not bigger than the dimensions of the whole space. A natural question is whether an arbitary ensembles of LOCC-distinguishable orthogonal states satisfies the condition. We first show that, in this paper, the answer is positive. Then we generalize it into multipartite systems, and show that a necessary condition for LOCC-distinguishability of multipartite orthogonal quantum states is that…
We consider deeply the relation between the orthogonality and the distinguishability of a set of arbitrary states (including multi-partite states). It is shown that if a set of arbitrary states can be distinguished by local operations and classical communication (LOCC), \QTR{it}{\}each of the states can be written as a linear combination of product vectors such that all product vectors of one of the states are orthogonal to the other states. With this result we then prove a simple necessary condition for LOCC distinguishability of a class of orthogonal states. These conclusions may be useful i…
Nonlocality without entanglement and its subsequent generalizations offer deep information-theoretic insights and subsequently find several useful applications. Concept of genuinely nonlocal set of product states emerges as a natural multipartite generalization of this phenomenon. Existence of such sets eventually motivates the problem concerning their entanglement-assisted discrimination. Here, we construct examples of genuinely nonlocal product states for arbitrary number of parties. Strength of genuine nonlocality of these sets can be considered minimal as their perfect discrimination is po…
In a multipartite setting, it is possible to distinguish quantum states that are genuinely $n$-way entangled from those that are separable with respect to some bipartition. Similarly, the nonlocal correlations that can arise from measurements on entangled states can be classified into those that are genuinely $n$-way nonlocal, and those that are local with respect to some bipartition. Svetlichny introduced an inequality intended as a test for genuine tripartite nonlocality. This work introduces two alternative definitions of $n$-way nonlocality, which we argue are better motivated both from th…
Super-selection rules severely restrict the possible operations one can perform on an entangled state. Their effect on the observation of non-locality through the Bell inequalities is only partially understood in the bipartite case. In this article we examine a range of multipartite entangled states and find that for those states the super-selection rules limit the genuinely multipartite nonlocality but not the non-genuinely multipartite. We argue that when the number of particles is smaller than the number of parties, genuinely multipartite nonlocality cannot be detected unless the super-sele…
Nonlocality without entanglement is an interesting field. A manifestation of quantum nonlocality without entanglement is the local indistinguishability of a set of orthogonal product states. In this paper we analyze the character of operators to distinguish a set of full product bases in a multi-partite system, and show that distinguishing perfectly a set of full product bases needs only local projective measurements and classical communication, and these measurements cannot damage each product basis. Employing these conclusions one can discuss local distinguishability of full product bases ea…
In this paper, we mainly study the local distinguishable multipartite quantum states by local operations and classical communication (LOCC) in $m_1\otimes m_2\otimes\ldots\otimes m_n$ , where the quantum system $m_1$ belongs to Alice, $m_2$ belongs to Bob, \ldots and $m_n$ belongs to Susan. We first present the pure tripartite distinguishable orthogonal quantum states by LOCC in $m_1\otimes m_2\otimes m_3$. With the conclusion in $m_1\otimes m_2\otimes m_3$, we prove distinguishability or indistinguishability of some quantum states. At last, we give the $n$-party distinguishable quantum states…
We consider a quantum system subject to superselection rules, for which certain restrictions apply to the quantum operations that can be implemented. It is shown how the notion of quantum-nonlocality has to be redefined in the presence of superselection rules: there exist separable states that cannot be prepared locally and exhibit some form of nonlocality. Moreover, the notion of local distinguishability in the presence of classical communication has to be altered. This can be used to perform quantum information tasks that are otherwise impossible. In particular, this leads to the introductio…
We introduce a new aspect of nonlocality which arises when the task of quantum states distinguishability is considered under local operations and shared entanglement in the absence of classical communication. We find the optimal amount of entanglement required to accomplish the task perfectly for sets of orthogonal states and argue that it quantifies information nonlocality.
We perform numerical tests on quantum nonlocality of two-level quantum systems (qubits) observed by a uniformly moving observer. Under a suitable momentum setting, the quantum nonlocality of two-qubit nonmaximally entangled states could be weakened drastically by the Lorentz transformation allowing for the existence of local-hidden-variable models, whereas three-qubit genuinely entangled states are robust. In particular, the generalized GHZ state remains nonlocal under arbitrary Wigner rotation and the generalized W state could admit local-hidden-variable models within a rather narrow range of…
Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering is a form of inseparability in quantum theory commonly acknowledged to be intermediate between entanglement and Bell nonlocality. However, this statement has so far only been proven for a restricted class of measurements, namely projective measurements. Here we prove that entanglement, one-way steering, two-way steering and nonlocality are genuinely different considering general measurements, i.e. single round positive-operator-valued-measures. Finally, we show that the use of sequences of measurements is relevant for steering tests, as they can be used to reve…
We consider a general version of the phenomenon of more nonlocality with less entanglement, within the framework of the unambiguous (i.e., conclusive) quantum state discrimination problem under local quantum operations and classical communication. We show that although the phenomenon was obtained before for two qutrits, it can also be observed for two qubits, while still being at the single-copy level. We establish that the phenomenon is intrinsically connected to the concept of unextendible entangled bases, in the two-qubit case. In the process, we demonstrate a hierarchy of nonlocality among…
Building upon the results of [R. Augusiak et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 115, 030404 (2015)] we develop a general approach to the generation of genuinely entangled multipartite states of any number of parties from genuinely entangled states of a fixed number of parties, in particular, the bipartite entangled ones. In our approach, certain isometries whose output subspaces are either symmetric or genuinely entangled in some multipartite Hilbert spaces are applied to local subsystems of bipartite entangled or multipartite genuinely entangled quantum states. To prove that entanglement of the resulting …
Strong nonlocality based on local distinguishability is a stronger form of quantum nonlocality recently introduced in multipartite quantum systems: an orthogonal set of multipartite quantum states is said to be of strong nonlocality if it is locally irreducible for every bipartition of the subsystems. Most of the known results are limited to sets with product states. Shi et al. presented the first result of strongly nonlocal entangled sets in [Phys. Rev. A 102, 042202 (2020)] and there they questioned the existence of strongly nonlocal set with genuine entanglement. In this work, we relate the…
Multipartite entanglement is of important resources for quantum communication and quantum computation. Our goal in this paper is to characterize general multipartite entangled states according to shallow quantum circuits. We firstly prove any genuinely multipartite entanglement on finite-dimensional spaces can be generated by using 2-layer shallow quantum circuit consisting of two biseparable quantum channels, which the smallest nontrivial circuit depth in the shallow quantum circuit model. We further propose a semi-device-independent entanglement model depending on the local connection abilit…
Quantum nonlocality is a counterintuitive phenomenon that lies beyond the purview of causal influences. Recently, Bell inequalities have been generalized to the case of quantum inputs, leading to a powerful family of semi-quantum Bell inequalities that are capable of detecting any entangled state. Here, we focus on a different problem and investigate how the local-indistinguishability of quantum inputs and postselection may affect the requirements to detect semi-quantum nonlocality. To this end, we consider a semi-quantum nonlocal game based on locally-indistinguishable qubit inputs and derive…
A set of multipartite orthogonal quantum states is strongly nonlocal if it is locally irreducible for every bipartition of the subsystems [Phys. Rev. Lett. 122, 040403 (2019)]. Although this property has been shown in three-, four- and five-partite systems, the existence of strongly nonlocal sets in $N$-partite systems remains unknown when $N\geq 6$. In this paper, we successfully show that a strongly nonlocal set of orthogonal entangled states exists in $(\mathbb{C}^d)^{\otimes N}$ for all $N\geq 3$ and $d\geq 2$, which for the first time reveals the strong quantum nonlocality in general $N$-…
We show that for all $n\ge3$, an example of an $n$-partite quantum correlation that is not genuinely multipartite nonlocal but rather exhibiting anonymous nonlocality, that is, nonlocal but biseparable with respect to all bipartitions, can be obtained by locally measuring the $n$-partite Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state. This anonymity is a manifestation of the impossibility to attribute unambiguously the underlying multipartite nonlocality to any definite subset(s) of the parties, even though the correlation can indeed be produced by nonlocal collaboration involving only such subsets. …
We explore the link between two concepts: the level of violation of a Bell inequality by a quantum state and discrimination between two states by means of restricted classes of operations, such as local operations and classical communication (LOCC) and separable ones. For any bipartite Bell inequality, we show that its value on a given quantum state cannot exceed the classical bound by more than the maximal quantum violation shrunk by a factor related to distinguishability of this state from the separable set by means of some restricted class of operations. We then consider the general scenari…
Quantum nonlocality without entanglement is a fantastic phenomenon in quantum theory. This kind of quantum nonlocality is based on the task of local discrimination of quantum states. Recently, Bandyopadhyay and Halder [Phys. Rev. A 104, L050201 (2021)] studied the problem: is there any set of orthogonal states which can be locally distinguishable, but under some orthogonality preserving local measurement, each outcome will lead to a locally indistinguishable set. We say that the set with such property has hidden nonlocality. Moreover, if such phenomenon can not arise from discarding subsystems…
Nonlocality captures one of the counterintuitive features of nature that defies classical intuition. Recent investigations reveal that our physical world's nonlocality is at least tripartite; i.e., genuinely tripartite nonlocal correlations in nature cannot be reproduced by any causal theory involving bipartite nonclassical resources and unlimited shared randomness. Here, by allowing the fair sampling assumption and postselection, we experimentally demonstrate such genuine tripartite nonlocality in a network under strict locality constraints that are ensured by spacelike separating all relevan…
The discovery of postquantum nonlocality, i.e., the existence of nonlocal correlations that are stronger than any quantum correlations but nevertheless consistent with the no-signaling principle, has deepened our understanding of the foundations of quantum theory. In this work, we investigate whether the phenomenon of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering, a different form of quantum nonlocality, can also be generalized beyond quantum theory. While postquantum steering does not exist in the bipartite case, we prove its existence in the case of three observers. Importantly, we show that postquantum …
One of the many interesting features of quantum nonlocality is that the states of a multipartite quantum system cannot always be distinguished as well by local measurements as they can when all quantum measurements are allowed. In this work, we characterize the distinguishability of sets of multipartite quantum states when restricted to separable measurements -- those which contain the class of local measurements but nevertheless are free of entanglement between the component systems. We consider two quantities: The separable fidelity -- a truly quantum quantity -- which measures how well we c…
The quantum entanglement as one of very important resources has been widely used in quantum information processing. In this work, we present a new kind of genuine multipartite entanglement. It is derived from special geometric feature of entangled systems compared with quantum multisource networks. We prove that any symmetric entangled pure state shows stronger nonlocality than the genuinely multipartite nonlocality in the biseparable model. Similar results hold for other entangled pure states with local dimensions no larger than $3$. We further provide computational conditions for witnessing …

The development of large-scale quantum networks promises to bring a multitude of technological applications as well as shed light on foundational topics, such as quantum nonlocality. It is particularly interesting to consider scenarios where sources within the network are statistically independent, which leads to so-called network nonlocality, even when parties perform fixed measurements. Here we promote certain parties to be trusted and introduce the notion of network steering and network local hidden state (NLHS) models within this paradigm of independent sources. In one direction, we show h…
