For the multiple Fourier series of the periodization of some radial functions on $\mathbb{R}^d$, we investigate the behavior of the spherical partial sum. We show the Gibbs-Wilbraham phenomenon, the Pinsky phenomenon and the third phenomenon for the multiple Fourier series, involving the convergence properties of them. The third phenomenon is closely related to the lattice point problems, which is a classical theme of the analytic number theory. We also prove that, for the case of two or three dimension, the convergence problem on the Fourier series is equivalent to the lattice point problems in a sense. In particular, the convergence problem at the origin in two dimension is equivalent to Hardy's conjecture on Gauss's circle problem.
We define lacunary Fourier series on a compact connected semisimple Lie group $G$. If $f \in L^1(G)$ has lacunary Fourier series, and vanishes on a non empty open set, then we prove that $f$ vanishes identically. This may be viewed as a qualitative uncertainty principle.
The Bohr-Fourier series development on one dimensional solenoids is analyzed by using invariant functions and extending Bohr's theory through the study of transversal variation

We study divergence properties of Fourier series on Cantor-type fractal measures, also called mock Fourier series. We show that in some cases the $L^1$-norm of the corresponding Dirichlet kernel grows exponentially fast, and therefore the Fourier series are not even pointwise convergent. We apply these results to the Lebesgue measure to show that a certain rearrangement of the exponential functions, which we call scrambled Fourier series, have a corresponding Dirichlet kernel whose $L^1$-norm grows exponentially fast, which is much worse than the known logarithmic bound. The divergence propert…
Limiting real interpolation method is applied to describe the behaviour of the Fourier coefficients of functions that belong to spaces which are "very close" to L2.
The main result is a Paley's theory for lacunary Fourier series using semigroup-BMO and $H^1$ spaces. This interpretation allows an extension of Paley's theory to general discrete groups, complementing the work of Rudin for abelian groups with a total order, and Lust-Piquard and Pisier's work for lacunary Fourier series with operator-valued coefficients.
The main aim of this paper is to investigate Paley type and Hardy-Littlewood type inequalities and strong convergence theorem of partial sums of Vilenkin-Fourier series.
In this paper, a Fourier series in fractional dimensional space is introduced for an arbitrarily periodic function $f(t;α)$. We call it fractional Fourier series of the order $α$. Extending the basis functions of the linear space into fractional one, by rotation transformation, we define a real and complex Fourier series and obtain their coefficients. It is also shown that the fractional derivative of a periodic function can be realized through (fractional) Fourier series with modified coefficients.
In this article we investigate the Fourier series and transforms for the functions defined on the [-pi, pi]^ d or on the R^d and belonging to the (Bilateral) Grand Lebesgue Spaces. As a particular case we obtain some results about Fourier's transform in the so-called exponential Orlicz spaces. We construct also several examples to show the exactness of offered estimations.
It is proved that the complex double Fourier series of an integrable function $f(x,y)$ with coefficients $\{c_{jk}\}$ satisfying certain conditions, will converge in $L^{1}$-norm. The conditions used here are the combinations of Tauberian condition of Hardy--Karamata kind and its limiting case. This paper extends the result of Bray [1] to complex double Fourier series.
Liu and Liu introduced the random Fourier transform, which is a random Fourier series in Hermite functions, and applied it to image encryption and decryption. They expected its applications in optics and information technology. These motivated us to look into random Fourier series in orthogonal polynomials. Recently, we have established the convergence of random Fourier--Jacobi series $\sum\limits_{n=0}^\infty d_n r_n(ω)φ_n(y),$ where $φ_n(y)$ are the orthonormal Jacobi polynomials $p_n^{(γ,δ)}(y),$ $r_n(ω)$ are random variables associated with stochastic processes like the Wiener process, the…
The conditions for convergence of square and rectangular Fejer means of functions on the infinite dimensional torus were obtained, also a generalization of the results for the case of abstract measure spaces was formulated.
This article is a study on the summability of random Fourier--Jacobi series of some functions in different spaces. We consider the random series $ \sum_{n=0}^\infty a_nA_n(ω)p_n^{(γ,δ)}(y), $ where $p_n^{(γ,δ)}(y),γ,δ>-1$ are orthonormal Jacobi polynomials, the scalars $a_n$ are Fourier--Jacobi coefficients of a function $f$ and the random variables $A_n(ω)$ are Fourier--Jacobi coefficients of the symmetric stable process $X(t,ω)$ of index $α\in [1,2].$ It is established that the random Fourier--Jacobi series is $Θ$--summable in probability, if $a_n$ are the Fourier--Jacobi coefficients of fun…
The main aim of this paper is to investigate (H_{p},L_{p})-type inequalities for maximal operators of logarithmic means of one-dimensional Vilenkin-Fourier series.
We study the partial sum operator for a Sobolev-type inner product related to the classical Gegenbauer polynomials. A complete characterization of the partial sum operator in an appropriate Sobolev space is given. Moreover, we analyze the convergence of the partial sum operators.
In this paper we generalize Bochkariev's theorem, which states that for any uniformly bounded orthonormal system $Φ$, there exists a Lebesgue integrable function such that the Fourier series of it with respect to system $Φ$ diverge on the set of positive measure. We characterize the class of variable exponent Lebesgue spaces $L^{p(\cdot)}[0;1]$, $1<p(x)<\infty$ a.e. on [0;1], such that above mentioned Bochkarev's theorem is valid.
Motivated by the product of periodic distributions, we give a new description of the wave front and the Sobolev-type wave front of a distribution $f\in\mathscr{D}'(\mathbb{R}^d)$ in terms of Fourier series coefficients.
In this paper, we first establish an evaluation formula to calculate Wiener integrals of functionals on Wiener space. We then apply our evaluation formula to carry out very easily calculating for the analytic Fourier-Feynman transform of the functionals. Some examples are furnished to illustrate the usefulness of the evaluation formula. Finally, using the evaluation formula, we establish the series approximation for the analytic Fourier-Feynman transform.
TThe main aim of this paper is to prove that there exist a martingale $f\in H_{1/2}$ such that Fejér means of Vilenkin-Fourier series of the martingale $f$ is not uniformly bounded in the space $L_{1/2}.$
We obtain new results on Fourier multipliers for Dirichlet-Hardy spaces. As a consequence, we establish a Littlewood-Paley type inequality which yields a simple proof that the Dirichlet monomials form a Schauder basis for p>1.
We prove that certain mean of the quadratical partial sums of the two-dimensional Walsh-Fourier series are uniformly bounded operators from the Hardy space $H_{p}$ to the space $L_{p}$ for $0<p<1.$
Helgason showed that a given measure $f\in M(G)$ on a compact group $G$ should be in $L^2(G)$ automatically if all random Fourier series of $f$ are in $M(G)$. We explore a natural analogue of the theorem in the framework of compact quantum groups and apply the obtained results to study complete representability problem for convolution algebras of compact quantum groups as an operator algebra.
We prove a vector-valued version of Carleson's theorem: Let Y=[X,H]_t be a complex interpolation space between a UMD space X and a Hilbert space H. For p\in(1,\infty) and f\in L^p(T;Y), the partial sums of the Fourier series of f converge to f pointwise almost everywhere. Apparently, all known examples of UMD spaces are of this intermediate form Y=[X,H]_t. In particular, we answer affirmatively a question of Rubio de Francia on the pointwise convergence of Fourier series of Schatten class valued functions.
The main aim of this paper is to investigate weighted maximal operators of partial sums of Vilenkin-Fourier series. We also use our results to prove approximation and strong convergence theorems on the martingale Hardy spaces $H_{p},$ when $0<p\leq 1.$
This article studies the rearrangement problem for Fourier series introduced by P.L. Ulyanov, who conjectured that every continuous function on the torus admits a rearrangement of its Fourier coefficients such that the rearranged partial sums of the Fourier series converge uniformly to the function. The main theorem here gives several new equivalences to this conjecture in terms of the convergence of the rearranged Fourier series in the strong (equivalently in this case, weak) operator topologies on $B(L_2(T))$. Additionally, a new framework for further investigation is introduced by consideri…
In the context of the Dunkl transform a complete orthogonal system arises in a very natural way. This paper studies the weighted norm convergence of the Fourier series expansion associated to this system. We establish conditions on the weights, in terms of the $A_p$ classes of Muckenhoupt, which ensure the convergence. Necessary conditions are also proved, which for a wide class of weights coincide with the sufficient conditions.
Let $B_{R}$ be the ball in the euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ with center 0 and radius $R$ and let $f$ be a complex-valued, infinitely differentiable function on $B_{R}.$ We show that the Laplace-Fourier series of $f$ has a holomorphic extension which converges compactly in the Lie ball $\hat {B_{R}}$ in the complex space $\mathbb{C}^{n}$ when one assumes a natural estimate for the Laplace-Fourier coefficients.
The properties of curl and gradient of divergence operators in the domain $G$ of three-dimensional space are described. The self-conjugacy of these operators in the subspaces $\mathbf{L}_{2}(G) $ and the basis property of the system of eigenfunctions are discussed. Exact formulas are founded for solving boundary value problems in a ball and the conditions for the decomposition of vector functions into Fourier series in eigenfunctions of the curl and the gradient of divergence operators.
We consider the class of multiple Fourier series associated with functions in the Dirichlet space of the polydisc. We prove that every such series is summable with respect to unrestricted rectangular partial sums, everywhere except for a set of zero multi-parametric logarithmic capacity. Conversely, given a compact set in the torus of zero capacity, we construct a Fourier series in the class which diverges on this set, in the sense of Pringsheim. We also prove that the multi-parametric logarithmic capacity characterizes the exceptional sets for the radial variation and radial limits of Dirichl…
We study norm convergence and summability of Fourier series in the setting of reduced twisted group $C^*$-algebras of discrete groups. For amenable groups, Følner nets give the key to Fejér summation. We show that Abel-Poisson summation holds for a large class of groups, including e.g. all Coxeter groups and all Gromov hyperbolic groups. As a tool in our presentation, we introduce notions of polynomial and subexponential H-growth for countable groups w.r.t. proper scale functions, usually chosen as length functions. These coincide with the classical notions of growth in the case of amenable gr…
This paper is an invitation to Fourier analysis in the context of reduced twisted C*-crossed products associated with discrete unital twisted C*-dynamical systems. We discuss norm-convergence of Fourier series, multipliers and summation processes. Our study relies in an essential way on the (covariant and equivariant) representation theory of C*-dynamical systems on Hilbert C*-modules. It also yields some information on the ideal structure of reduced twisted C*-crossed products.
