Minimal gauged U(1)$_{L_μ-L_τ}$ models can provide for an additional source for the muon anomalous magnetic moment however it is difficult to accommodate the discrepancy in the electron magnetic moment in tandem. Owing to the relative sign between the discrepancies in these quantities, it seems unlikely that they arise from the same source. We show that a supersymmetric (SUSY) gauged U(1)$_{L_μ-L_τ}$ model can accommodate both the muon and electron anomalous magnetic moments in a very simple and intuitive scenario, without utilizing lepton flavor violation. The currently allowed parameter space in this kind of a scenario is constrained from the latest LHC and various low energy experimental data,e.g., recent COHERENT data, CCFR, Borexino, BaBaR, supernova etc. These constraints, in conjunction with the requirement to explain both lepton magnetic moments, lead to an upper bound on the first generation slepton mass, a lower bound on the second generation slepton mass and constricts the allowed range for the new gauge boson mass and coupling. The scheme can be probed at the ongoing COHERENT and Coherent CAPTAIN-Mills experiments and at future experiments, e.g., DUNE, BELLE-II etc.
We explore muon anomalous magnetic moment (muon $g-2$) in a scotogenic neutrino model with a gauged lepton number symmetry $U(1)_{μ-τ}$. In this model, a dominant muon $g-2$ contribution comes not from an additional gauge sector but from a Yukawa sector. In our numerical $Δχ^2$ analysis, we show that our model is in favor of normal hierarchy with some features. We demonstrate one benchmark point, satisfying muon $g-2$ at the best fit value $25.1\times10^{-10}$.
We analyze the distributions of energy, opening angle and invariant mass in muonic neutrino trident production processes, $ν_μ\to ν_μμ\overlineμ$, in a minimal gauged $U(1)_{L_μ- L_τ}$ model, in which the discrepancy of anomalous magnetic moment of muon can be solved. It is known that the total cross sections of the neutrino trident production are degenerate in new physics parameters, the new gauge coupling and gauge boson mass, and therefore other observables are needed to determine these parameters. From numerical analyses, we find that the muon energy and invariant mass distributions show t…
We investigate the sensitivity of the projected TeV muon collider to the gauged $L^{}_μ$-$L^{}_τ$ model. Two processes are considered: $Z'$-mediated two-body scatterings $μ^+ μ^- \to \ell^+ \ell^-$ with $\ell = μ$ or $τ$, and scattering with initial state photon emission, $μ^+ μ^- \to γZ',~Z' \to \ell \overline{\ell}$, where $\ell$ can be $μ$, $τ$ or $ν_{μ/τ}$. We quantitatively study the sensitivities of these two processes by taking into account possible signals and relevant backgrounds in a muon collider experiment with a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} = 3~{\rm TeV}$ and a luminosity $L=1~…
Lepton number is promoted to an $U(1)_L$ gauge symmetry in a simple extension of the standard model. The spontaneous breaking of $U(1)_L$ by three units allows a conserved $Z_3^L$ lepton symmetry to remain, guaranteeing that neutrinos are Dirac fermions, which acquire naturally small masses from a previously proposed mechanism. Dark matter appears as a singlet scalar, with dark symmetry $Z_3^D$ derivable from $Z_3^L$. Muon $g-2$ may be explained.
We extended the standard model with a fourth generation of fermions to explain the discrepancy in the muon magnetic moment and to describe the positron excess observed by AMS-02 experiment. We introduce a gauged $SU(2)_{HV}$ horizontal symmetry between the muon and the 4th generation lepton families and identified the 4th generation right-handed neutrino as the dark matter with mass $\sim 700$ GeV. The dark matter annihilates through $SU(2)_{HV}$ gauge boson into final states $(μ^+ μ^-)$ and $(ν^c_μ~ν_μ)$. The $SU(2)_{HV}$ gauge boson with mass $\sim 1.4$ TeV gives the required contribution to…
We consider the gauging of $L_μ- L_τ$ as an explanation of a possibly large muon anomalous magnetic moment. We then show how neutrino masses with bimaximal mixing may be obtained in this framework. We study the novel phenomenology of the associated gauge boson in the context of present and future high-energy collider experiments.
We studied an extension of the standard model with a fourth generation of fermions to explain the discrepancy in the muon $(g-2)$ and explain the positron excess seen in the AMS-02 experiment. We introduce a gauged $SU(2)_{HV}$ horizontal symmetry between the muon and the 4th generation lepton families. The 4th generation right-handed neutrino is identified as the dark matter with mass $\sim 700$ GeV. The dark matter annihilates only to $(μ^+ μ^-)$ and $(ν^c_μ~ν_μ)$ states via $SU(2)_{HV}$ gauge boson. The $SU(2)_{HV}$ gauge boson with mass $\sim 1.4$ TeV gives an adequate contribution to the …
Gauged $U(1)_{L_μ- L_τ}$ model has been advocated for a long time in light of muon $g-2$ anomaly, which is a more than $3σ$ discrepancy between the experimental measurement and the standard model prediction. We augment this model with three right-handed neutrinos $(N_e, N_μ, N_τ)$ and a vector-like singlet fermion $(χ)$ to explain simultaneously the non-zero neutrino mass and dark matter content of the Universe, while satisfying anomalous muon $g-2$ constraints. It is shown that in a large parameter space of this model we can explain positron excess, observed at PAMELA, Fermi-LAT and AMS-02, t…
If a Z' gauge boson of a gauged L_mu - L_tau symmetry is very light, it is associated with a long-range leptonic force. In this case the particles in the Sun create via mixing of Z' with the Standard Model Z a flavor-dependent potential for muon neutrinos in terrestrial long-baseline experiments. The potential changes sign for anti-neutrinos and hence can lead to apparent differences in neutrino and anti-neutrino oscillations without introducing CP or CPT violation. This could for instance explain the recently found discrepancy in the survival probabilities of muon neutrinos and anti-neutrinos…
Despite the popularity of two-Higgs-doublet models (2HDMs) with a gauged abelian flavor symmetry, the allowed Yukawa textures have only been partly explored so far. In this work, we classify and compare every anomaly-free instance, in the case of having two generations of right-handed neutrinos and a type-I seesaw mechanism. We found 16 valid implementations in total, out of which 11 agree well with current experimental bounds. To our knowledge, neither of these models have been considered previously.
We discuss if the resonance recently observed by CMS can be responsible for the deviation of the experimentally measured muon anomalous magnetic moment from the theoretical prediction.
We review the gauging of an R-symmetry in local and global susy. We then construct the first anomaly-free models. We break the R-symmetry and susy at the Planck scale and discuss the low-energy effects. We include a solution to the mu-problem, and the prediction of observable effects at HERA. The models also nicely allow for GUT-scale baryogenesis and R-parity violation without the sphaleron interactions erasing the baryon-asymmetry.
The gauged $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ extension of the Standard Model is a very simple framework that can alleviate the tension in muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment, reinforced by the recent Fermilab measurement. We explore experimental probes of the $(g-2)_μ$ target with a general treatment of kinetic mixing between the $Z'$ gauge boson and the photon. The physical value of the kinetic mixing depends on a free parameter of the model and energy scale of a process. We find neutrino constraints on the $(g-2)_μ$ target including Borexino, CE$ν$NS, and white dwarfs are sensitive to this freedom and can …
We consider the scenario of composite Higgs with partial compositeness to address the muon g-2 anomaly. We show that this anomaly is resolved by one-loop correction due to composite muon partners with mass scale of order TeVs and large Yukawa coupling to composite Higgs, which is different from interpretations of vectorlike lepton models. We present parameter space by imposing indirect constraints from precise measurements on Higgs, Z and oblique electroweak parameters. We analyze direct constraints in light of both Drell-Yan and Higgs-associated productions of the composite muon partners at h…
We point out that heavy new physics contributions in leptonic dipole moments and high-energy cross-sections of lepton pairs into Higgs bosons and photons are connected model-independently. In particular, we demonstrate that a muon collider, running at center-of-mass energies of several TeV, can provide a unique test of new physics in the muon g-2 through the study of high-energy processes such as mu+ mu- -> h gamma. This high-energy test would be of the utmost importance to shed light on the long-standing muon g-2 anomaly as it is not affected by the hadronic and experimental uncertainties ent…
We present an economical model where an $S^{}_1$ leptoquark and an anomaly-free $U(1)^{}_X$ gauge symmetry with $X = B^{}_3-2L^{}_μ/3-L^{}_τ/3$ are introduced, to account for the muon anomalous magnetic moment $a^{}_μ\equiv (g^{}_μ-2)$ and flavor puzzles including $R^{}_{K^{(\ast)_{}}}$ and $R^{}_{D^{(\ast)_{}}}$ anomalies together with quark and lepton flavor mixing. The $Z^\prime_{}$ gauge boson associated with the $U(1)^{}_X$ symmetry is responsible for the $R^{}_{K^{(\ast)_{}}}$ anomaly. Meanwhile, the specific flavor mixing patterns of quarks and leptons can be generated after the spontan…
The Atomki collaboration has reported that unexpected excesses have been observed in the rare decays of Beryllium nucleus. It is claimed that such excesses can suggest the existence of a new boson, called $X$, with the mass of about $17$ MeV. To solve the Atomki anomaly, we consider a model with gauged $U(1)_R$ symmetry and identify the new gauge boson with the $X$ boson. We also introduce two $SU(2)$ doublet Higgs bosons and one singlet Higgs boson, and discuss a very stringent constraint from neutrino-electron scattering. It is found that the $U(1)_R$ charges of the doublet scalars are deter…
The gauged $B - L$ symmetry is one of the simplest and well studied extension of standard model. In the conventional case, addition of three singlet right handed neutrinos each transforming as $-1$ under the $B - L$ symmetry renders it anomaly free. It is usually assumed that the $B - L$ symmetry is spontaneously broken by a singlet scalar having two units of $B - L$ charge, resulting in a natural implementation of Majorana seesaw mechanism for neutrinos. However, as we discuss in this proceeding, there is another simple anomaly free solution which leads to Dirac or inverse seesaw masses for n…
The energy spectrum of cosmic neutrinos, which was recently reported by the IceCube collaboration, shows a gap between 400 TeV and 1 PeV. An unknown neutrino interaction mediated by a field with a mass of the MeV scale is one of the possible solutions to this gap. We examine if the leptonic gauge interaction L_μ - L_τ can simultaneously explain the two phenomena in the lepton sector: the gap in the cosmic neutrino spectrum and the unsettled disagreement in muon anomalous magnetic moment. We illustrate that there remains the regions in the model parameter space, which account for both the probl…
We consider an explanation of CDF II W bosom mass anomaly by $Z-Z'$ mixing with $U(1)_R$ gauge symmetry under which right-handed fermions are charged. It is found that $U(1)_R$ is preferred to be leptophobic to accommodate the anomaly while avoiding other experimental constraints. In such a case we require extra charged leptons to cancel quantum anomalies and the SM charged leptons get masses via interactions with the extra ones. These interactions also induce muon $g-2$ and lepton flavor violations. We discuss muon $g-2$, possible flavor constraints, neutrino mass generation via inverse seesa…
One of the major motivations to search for a dark gauge boson of MeV-GeV scale is the long-standing muon g-2 anomaly. Because of active searches such as fixed target experiments and rare meson decays, the muon g-2 favored parameter region has been rapidly reduced. With the most recent data, it is practically excluded now in the popular dark photon model. We overview the issue and investigate a potentially alternative model based on the gauged lepton number or U(1)_L. The muon g-2 favored parameter region of the U(1)_L survives all the constraints that were critical in the dark photon case, yet…
Once all the sleptons as well as the Bino are observed at the ILC, the Bino contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment (muon $g-2$) in supersymmetric (SUSY) models can be reconstructed. Motivated by the recently confirmed muon $g-2$ anomaly, we examine the reconstruction accuracy at the ILC with $\sqrt{s}$ = 500 GeV. For this purpose, measurements of stau parameters are important. We quantitatively study the determination of the mass and mixing parameters of the staus at the ILC. Furthermore, we discuss the implication of the stau study to the reconstruction of the SUSY contribu…
The long-standing muon $g-2$ anomaly has been confirmed recently at the Fermilab. The combined discrepancy from Fermilab and Brookhaven results shows a difference from the theory at a significance of 4.2 $σ$. In addition, the LHC has updated the lower mass bound of a pure wino. In this letter, we study to what extent the $g-2$ can be explained in anomaly mediation scenarios, where the pure wino is the dominant dark matter component. To this end, we derive some model-independent constraints on the particle spectra and $g-2$. We find that the $g-2$ explanation at the 1$σ$ level is driven into a …
We study the gauged $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ scotogenic model with emphasis on latest measurement of LHCb $R_{K^{(*)}}$ anomaly and AMS-02 positron excess. In this model, neutrino masses are induced at one-loop level with $Z_2$-odd particles, i.e., right-handed neutrinos $N_\ell(\ell=e,μ,τ)$ and inert scalar doublet $η$ inside the loop. Meanwhile, the gauged $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ symmetry is broken spontaneously by the scalar singlet $S$, resulting to the massive gauge boson $Z'$. Provided certain couplings to quarks induced by heavy vector-like quarks, the gauge boson $Z'$ would contribute to the transiti…
Two-Higgs-doublet models (2HDMs) with a flavored U(1)' gauge symmetry are a popular extension to the Standard Model (SM), yet they currently lack a complete survey. In this paper, we present a full classification of anomaly-free 2HDMs within the SM fermion content, resulting in a total of eleven distinct models. Four of these are relatively well-studied, while the rest either partially, or entirely, lack previous treatment. We study these textures under a variety of experimental bounds, focusing mainly on the previously unexplored models. This work is intended to act as a catalog to models wor…
We present an analysis showing how anomaly free fermionic spectra with consistent embeddings of the Standard Model spectrum under $SU(3)_C\times SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y \subset SU(3)_C\times SU(N)_L\times U(1)_X$ for any $N>2$ can be obtained, with special focus on the $N=3 {and} 4$ cases. The construction is motivated by the little Higgs mechanism. We discuss the relevancy of the fermionic spectra to the latter, concentrating on two N=4 models, without fermions of exotic charges. Such models hold the promise to address and solve all the major theoretical as well as phenomenological problems of t…
We construct a self-interacting dark matter model that could simultaneously explain the observed muon anomalous magnetic moment. It is based on a gauged U$(1)_{L_μ - L_τ}$ extension of the standard model, where we introduce a vector-like pair of fermions as the dark matter candidate and a new Higgs boson to break the symmetry. The new gauge boson has a sizable contribution to muon $(g-2)$, while being consistent with other experimental constraints. The U$(1)_{L_μ - L_τ}$ Higgs boson acts as a light force carrier, mediating dark matter self-interactions with a velocity-dependent cross section. …
Motivated by recently reported anomalies in a decay of an excited state of beryllium by the Atomki collaboration, we study a radiative seesaw model with gauged $B-L$ symmetry and a $Z_2$ parity. Assuming that the anomalies originate from the decay of the $B-L$ gauge boson followed by the nuclear decay, the mass of the lightest right-handed neutrino or the dark matter candidate can be determined below $10$ GeV. We show that for this mass range, the model can explain the anomalies in the beryllium decay and the relic dark matter abundance consistent with neutrino masses. We also predict its spin…
The deviation of the measured value of the muon anomalous magnetic moment from the standard model prediction can be completely explained by mixing of the muon with extra vectorlike leptons, L and E, near the electroweak scale. This mixing simultaneously contributes to the muon mass. We show that the correlation between contributions to the muon mass and muon g-2 is controlled by the mass of the neutrino originating from the doublet L. Positive correlation, simultaneously explaining both measured values, requires this mass below 200 GeV. The decay rate of the Higgs boson to muon pairs is modifi…
A simple model for the explanation of the muon anomalous magnetic moment was proposed by the present authors within the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model [1607.05705, 1608.06618]: "Higgs-anomaly mediation". In the setup, squarks, sleptons, and gauginos are massless at tree-level, but the Higgs doublets get large negative soft supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking masses squared $m_{H_u}^2 \simeq m_{H_d}^2 < 0$ at a certain energy scale, $M_{\rm inp}$. The sfermion masses are radiatively generated by anomaly mediation and Higgs-loop effects, and gaugino masses are solely determined b…
In this paper we study $Z'$ contribution to $g -2$ of the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment in gauged $U(1)_{L_μ- L_τ}$ models. Here $L_i$ are the lepton numbers. We find that there are three classes of models which can produce a large value of $g-2$ to account for possible discrepancy between the experimental data and the Standard Model prediction. The three classes are: a) Models with an exact $U(1)_{L_μ- L_τ}$. In these models, $Z'$ is massless. The new gauge interaction coupling $e a/\cosθ_W$ is constrained to be $ 0.8\times 10^{-3} < |a| < 2.24\times 10^{-3}$. b) Models with broken $U…
The $3.1σ$ $R_K$ anomaly after Moriond 2021 and $3.3 σ$ $Δa_μ$ from Fermilab Muon g-2 experiment implicate that the lepton flavor universality violation (LFUV) may play a role in the exploration of new physics. A Flavor Gauged Two-Higgs Doublet Model (FG2HDM) is proposed and investigated in this work. To get rid of the the redundancy in Yukawa coupling of 2HDM-III, a specific U(1) flavor symmetry is introduced. The charge difference between two scalar doublet forbid the appearance of pseudoscalar and hence there are only three particles (a charged and neutral heavy scalar together with a neutr…
In the framework of anomaly free $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ model, charged scalar fields give rise to massive gauge boson ($Z_{μτ}$) through spontaneous symmetry breaking. $Z_{μτ}$ leads to one loop contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment. These scalar fields may, also, appear in the structure of right-handed neutrino mass matrix, thus, connecting the possible explanation of muon ($g-2$) and low energy neutrino phenomenology through $vevs$ associated with the scalar fields. In the present work, we consider textures of inverse neutrino mass matrix ($M_ν^{-1}$) wherein any two elements of the m…
The Fermilab Muon $g-2$ collaboration recently announced the first result of measurement of the muon anomalous magnetic moment ($g-2$), which confirmed the previous result at the Brookhaven National Laboratory and thus the discrepancy with its Standard Model prediction. We revisit low-scale supersymmetric models that are naturally capable to solve the muon $g-2$ anomaly, focusing on two distinct scenarios: chargino-contribution dominated and pure-bino-contribution dominated scenarios. It is shown that the slepton pair-production searches have excluded broad parameter spaces for both two scenar…
In light of the recent 750 GeV diphoton anomaly observed at the LHC, we study the possibility of accommodating the deviation from the standard model prediction based on the recently proposed Gauged Two Higgs Doublet Model. The model embeds two Higgs doublets into a doublet of a non-abelian gauge group $SU(2)_H$, while the standard model $SU(2)_L$ right-handed fermion singlets are paired up with new heavy fermions to form $SU(2)_H$ doublets, and $SU(2)_L$ left-handed fermion doublets are singlets under $SU(2)_H$. An $SU(2)_H$ scalar doublet, which provides masses to the new heavy fermions as we…
We propose a scenario where only the Higgs multiplets have direct couplings to a supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking sector. The standard model matter multiplets as well as the gauge multiples are sequestered from the SUSY breaking sector; therefore, their masses arise via anomaly mediation at the high energy scale with a gravitino mass of $\sim$100 TeV. Due to renormalization group running effects from the Higgs soft masses, the masses of the third generation sfermions become O(10) TeV at the low energy scale, while the first and second generation sfermion masses are O(0.1-1) TeV, avoiding the tach…
With the 1998 announcement of new evidence for muon neutrino disappearance observed by the Super-Kamiokande experiment, the more than a decade old atmospheric neutrino anomaly moved from a possible indication for neutrino oscillations to an almost inescapable implication. The evidence from all experiments is reviewed, and indications are presented that the oscillations are probably between muon and tau neutrinos with nearly maximal mixing. Implications and future directions in neutrino oscillations research are discussed.
We show that lepton number violating muon decays, μ^+ -> e^+ + ν_e-bar + ν_i-bar (i=e, μor τ), can consistently explain the neutrino anomaly reported by the LSND experiment. Two effective operators in the Standard Model are identified which lead to just such decays and no other processes. The scale of new physics Λmust be relatively low, Λ< 500 GeV. Extensions of the Standard Model which realize these effective operators are presented. Since new physics affects only the decay of the muon, and not of π^+-, our scenario predicts a null result for ν_μ-bar - ν_e-bar oscillation searches at the Fer…
The discrepancy between the measured value and the Standard Model prediction for the muon anomalous magnetic moment is one of the important issues in the particle physics. In this paper, we consider a two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) where the extra Higgs doublet couples to muon and tau in lepton flavor violating (LFV) way and the one-loop correction involving the scalars largely contributes to the muon anomalous magnetic moment. The couplings should be sizable to explain the discrepancy, so that the extra Higgs bosons would dominantly decay into $μτ$ LFV modes, which makes the model testable at…
We propose a new physics model which has a cold dark matter candidate and can explain the $b \to s μ^+μ^-$ anomaly at the same time. Our model includes a scalar quark $\widetilde{q}$ and a scalar lepton $\widetilde{\ell}$ which are $SU(2)_L$-doublet as well as a Dirac fermion $N$ which is $SU(2)_L$-singlet. The new particles are charged under a gauged $U(1)_X$ group which is spontaneously broken to a discrete $Z_2$ symmetry by a dark scalar $S$. The remnant $Z_2$ symmetry stabilizes the dark matter. Box diagrams with $\widetilde{q}$, $\widetilde{\ell}$, and $N$ running inside the loop can gene…
The longstanding muon g-2 anomaly may indicate the existence of new particles that couple to muons, which could either be light (< GeV) and weakly coupled, or heavy (>> 100 GeV) with large couplings. If light new states are responsible, upcoming intensity frontier experiments will discover further evidence of new physics. However, if heavy particles are responsible, many candidates are beyond the reach of existing colliders. We show that, if the g-2 anomaly is confirmed and no explanation is found at low-energy experiments, a high-energy muon collider program is guaranteed to make fundamental …
The gauged $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ model can provide for additional contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment by means of a loop involving the $Z^{\prime}$ gauge boson. However, the parameter space of such models is severely constrained if one combines the latest muon $(g-2)$ data with various neutrino experiments, such as neutrino trident production, $ν-e$ and $ν-q$ elastic scattering, etc. In a supersymmetric $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ model, a larger region of parameter space opens up, thus enabling one to explore otherwise forbidden regions of parameter space in nonsupersymmetric models involving…
The new measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of muon at the Fermilab Muon $g-2$ experiment has strengthened the significance of the discrepancy between the standard model prediction and the experimental observation from the BNL measurement. If new physics responsible for the muon $g-2$ anomaly is supersymmetric, one should consider how to obtain light electroweakinos and sleptons in a systematic way. The gauge coupling unification allows a robust prediction of the gaugino masses, indicating that the electroweakinos can be much lighter than the gluino if anomaly-mediated supersymmetry b…
In this paper we consider non-minimal couplings of the Standard Model fermions to the vector (trace) and axial vector (pseudo-trace) components of the torsion tensor. We then evaluate the contributions of these vector and axial vector components to the muon anomaly and use the recent precision measurement of the muon anomaly to derive constraints on the torsion parameters.
The electric field corrections to the recently measured muon magnetic moment g-2 anomaly are considered from both the classical (BMT) and the quantum mechanical (Dirac) viewpoints. In both views, we prove that the electric field inducing the horizontal betatron tune does not renormalize the anomaly frequency. With this result kept in mind, the experimental muon magnetic moment anomaly is in closer agreement with standard model predictions than has been previously reported.
We construct models with minimal field content that can simultaneously explain the muon g-2 anomaly and give the correct dark matter relic abundance. These models fall into two general classes, whether or not the new fields couple to the Higgs. For the general structure of models without new Higgs couplings, we provide analytical expressions that only depend on the $SU(2)_L$ representation. These results allow to demonstrate that only few models in this class can simultaneously explain $(g-2)_μ$ and account for the relic abundance. The experimental constraints and perturbativity considerations…
We reexamine the limits on the gravitino mass supplied by the muon anomaly in the frame of supergravity models with a superlight gravitino and a superlight scalar S and a superlight pseudoscalar P.
Spontaneously broken, flavour-dependent, gauged $U(1)$ extensions of the Standard Model (SM) have many phenomenological uses. We chart the space of solutions to the gauge anomaly cancellation equations in such extensions, for both the SM chiral fermion content and the SM plus (up to) three right-handed neutrinos (SM$ν_R$). Methods from Diophantine analysis allow us to efficiently index the solutions arithmetically, and produce the complete solution space in particular cases. In order to solve the general case, we build a computer program which cycles through possible $U(1)$ charge assignments,…
In this work, we study the long-standing experimental anomaly in muon $(g-2)$ and also recent anomalous excess in $K_L\to π^0+ν\barν$ at the J-PARC KOTO experiment with sgoldstino. After supersymmetry breaking, the interactions between quarks and sgoldstino ($s$) make the decays $K\to π+s$ sizable through loop diagrams, which affects the measurements of decays $K\to π+\mathrm{invisible}$. Furthermore, the couplings between photons and sgoldstino contribute to $Δa_μ$ as well as the bino-slepton contribution. With satisfying all known experimental constraints such as from NA62, E949, E137, Orsay…
Leptoquark (LQ) models can be the solution to the $(g-2)_μ$ anomaly because of the chiral enhancements. In this work, we consider the models extended by the LQ and vector-like quark (VLQ) simultaneously, which can be used to explain the anomaly because of the top quark and top partner (denoted as $T$) mixing. For the one LQ and one VLQ extended models, there are contributions from the top and $T$ quark. In the minimal LQ models, only the $R_2$ and $S_1$ representations can lead to the chiral enhancements. Here, we find one new $S_3$ solution to the anomaly in the presence of $(X,T,B)_{L,R}$ tr…
In the L_μ - L_τ model the 3.6$σ$ discrepancy between the predicted and measured values of the anomalous magnetic moment of positive muons can be explained by the existence of a new dark boson Z' with a mass in the sub-GeV range, which is coupled at tree level predominantly to the second and third lepton generations. However, at the one-loop level, the Z' coupling to electrons or quarks can be induced via the γ-Z' kinetic mixing, which is generated through the loop involving the muon and tau lepton. This loophole has important experimental consequences since it opens up new possibilities, in p…
Motivated by two experimental facts, the muon g-2 anomaly and the observed Higgs boson mass around 125 GeV, we propose a simple model of anomaly mediation, which can be seen as a generalization of mixed modulus-anomaly mediation. In our model, the discrepancy of the muon g-2 and the Higgs boson mass around 125 GeV are easily accommodated. The required mass splitting between the strongly and weakly interacting SUSY particles are naturally achieved by the contribution from anomaly mediation. This model is easily consistent with SU(5) or SO(10) grand unified theory.
A review of the experimental and theoretical determinations of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is given. The anomaly is defined by a=(g-2)/2, where the Landé g-factor is the proportionality constant that relates the spin to the magnetic moment. For the muon, as well as for the electron and tauon, the anomaly a differs slightly from zero (of order 10^{-3}) because of radiative corrections. In the Standard Model, contributions to the anomaly come from virtual `loops' containing photons and the known massive particles. The relative contribution from heavy particles scales as the square …
The LHCb measurements of the $μ/ e$ ratio in $B \to K \ell \ell$ decays $(R_{K^{}})$ indicate a deficit with respect to the Standard Model prediction, supporting earlier hints of lepton universality violation observed in the $R_{K^{(*)}}$ ratio. Possible explanations of these $B$-physics anomalies include heavy $Z'$ bosons or scalar and vector leptoquarks mediating $b \to s μ^+ μ^- $. We note that a muon collider can directly measure this process via $μ^+ μ^- \to b \bar s$ and can shed light on the lepton non-universality scenario. Investigating currently discussed center-of-mass energies $\sq…
Neutrinos from STORed Muons (nuSTORM; formerly VLENF) is a proposed experiment to use 3.8 GeV/c muon decay to produce a well-understood beam of electron and muon neutrinos that can be used for short baseline physics. A magnetized far detector allows for the wrong-sign muon appearance physics of electron-neutrino to muon-neutrino. This channel is the CPT of the LSND anomaly and provides 10 sigma sensitivity to the anomaly. This note contains a detailed explanation of the nSTORM appearance analysis that was included in the Letter of Intent.
This mini review aims to outline the main experimental and theoretical results related with the search for a new light vector boson proposed as a solution of the muon $g-2$ anomaly. Additionally, I consider a model with infinite number of light vector bosons which can explain the anomaly, while still remaining consistent with current experimental bounds.
