We present an HI-optical catalog of ~ 30,000 galaxies based on the 100% complete Arecibo Legacy Fast Arecibo L-band Feed Array (ALFALFA) survey combined with data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). Our goal is to facilitate public use of the completed ALFALFA catalog by providing carefully determined matches to SDSS counterparts, including matches for ~ 12,000 galaxies that do not have SDSS spectra. These identifications can provide a basis for further cross-matching with other surveys using SDSS photometric IDs as a reference point. We derive absolute magnitudes and stellar masses for each galaxy using optical colors combined with an internal reddening correction designed for small- and intermediate-mass galaxies with active star formation. We also provide measures of stellar masses and star formation rates based on infrared and/or ultraviolet photometry for galaxies that are detected by the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) and/or the Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX). Finally, we compare the galaxy population in the ALFALFA-SDSS sample with the populations in several other publicly-available galaxy catalogs, and confirm that ALFALFA galaxies typically have lower masses and bluer colors.
We present the catalog of ~31500 extragalactic HI line sources detected by the completed ALFALFA survey out to z < 0.06 including both high signal-to-noise ratio (> 6.5) detections and ones of lower quality which coincide in both position and recessional velocity with galaxies of known redshift. We review the observing technique, data reduction pipeline, and catalog construction process, focusing on details of particular relevance to understanding the catalog's compiled parameters. We further describe and make available the digital HI line spectra associated with the catalogued sources. In add…
Ultra-diffuse galaxies (UDGs) are objects which have very extended morphology and faint central surface brightness. Most UDGs are discovered in galaxy clusters and groups, but also some are found in low density environments. The diffuse morphology and faint surface brightness make them difficult to distinguish from the sky background. Several previous works have suggested that at least some UDGs are consistent with exponential surface brightness profiles (Sérsic n ~ 1). The surface brightness of exponential disks is enhanced in edge-on systems, so searching for edge-on systems may be an effici…
The conformity effect, indicating the evolution of a galaxy is related to its surrounding neighbour galaxies as far as a few Mpc, is an interesting phenomenon in the modeling of galaxy and evolution. Here we study the conformity effect of HI galaxies in a matched galaxy sample between SDSS DR7 and ALFALFA surveys. By checking the probability difference for the detected HI galaxies as a function of distance around a normal or an HI galaxy, we find that this effect is significant out to 5 Mpc. It also shows a dependence on the stellar mass of galaxies, with the strength the strongest in the stel…
We search for environmental dependence of the HI mass function in the ALFALFA 70% catalogue. The catalogue is split into quartiles of environment density based on the projected neighbour density of neighbours found in both SDSS and 2MRS volume limited reference catalogues. We find the Schechter function 'knee' mass to be dependent on environment, with the value of $\log ({M_{*}/\mathrm{M_{\odot}}})$ shifting from $9.81 \pm 0.02$ to $10.00 \pm 0.03$ between the lowest and highest density quartiles. However, this dependence was only observed when defining environment based on the SDSS reference …
Low-surface-brightness galaxies(LSBGs) are defined as galaxies that are fainter than dark night sky and are important for studying our universe. Particularly, edge-on galaxies are useful for the study of rotational velocity and dynamical properties of galaxies. Hence here we focus on searching for edge-on LSBGs. In order to find these edge-on dim galaxies, a series of effects caused by inclination, including the surface brightness profile, internal extinction, and scale length, have been corrected. In this work, we present a catalog of 281 edge-on LSBG candidates, which are selected from the c…
We measure the r-band galaxy luminosity function (LF) across environments over the redshift range 0<$z$<0.107 using the SDSS. We divide our sample into galaxies residing in large scale voids (void galaxies) and those residing in denser regions (wall galaxies). The best fitting Schechter parameters for void galaxies are: log$Φ^*$= -3.40$\pm$0.03 log(Mpc$^{-3}$), $M^*$= -19.88$\pm$0.05, and $α$=-1.20$\pm$0.02. For wall galaxies, the best fitting parameters are: log$Φ^*$=-2.86$\pm$0.02 log(Mpc$^{-3}$), $M^*$=-20.80$\pm$0.03, and $α$=-1.16$\pm$0.01. We find a shift in the characteristic magnitude,…
We estimate the HI mass function (HIMF) of galaxies in groups based on thousands of ALFALFA (Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA survey) HI detections within the galaxy groups of four widely used SDSS (Sloan Digital Sky Survey) groups catalogues. Although differences between the catalogues mean that there is no one definitive group galaxy HIMF, in general we find that the low-mass slope is flat, in agreement with studies based on small samples of individual groups, and that the 'knee' mass is slightly higher than that of the global HIMF of the full ALFALFA sample. We find that the observed fraction of AL…
The application of artificial neural networks (ANNs) for the estimation of HI gas mass fraction (\fgas) is investigated, based on a sample of 13,674 galaxies in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) with HI detections or upper limits from the Arecibo Legacy Fast Arecibo L-band Feed Array (ALFALFA). We show that, for an example set of fixed input parameters ($g-r$ colour and $i$-band surface brightness), a multidimensional quadratic model yields \fgas\ scaling relations with a smaller scatter (0.22 dex) than traditional linear fits (0.32 dex), demonstrating that non-linear methods can lead to an …
The population of Low Surface Brightness (LSB) galaxies is crucial for understanding the extremes of galaxy formation and evolution of the universe. As LSB galaxies are mostly rich in gas (HI), the alpha.40-SDSS DR7 sample is absolutely one of the best survey combinations to select a sample of them in the local Universe. Since the sky backgrounds are systematically overestimated for galaxy images by the SDSS photometric pipeline, particularly for luminous galaxies or galaxies with extended low surface brightness outskirts, in this paper, we above all estimated the sky backgrounds of SDSS image…
We present a catalog of 59 ultra-compact high velocity clouds (UCHVCs) extracted from the 40% complete ALFALFA HI-line survey. The ALFALFA UCHVCs have median flux densities of 1.34 Jy km/s, median angular diameters of 10', and median velocity widths of 23 km/s. We show that the full UCHVC population cannot easily be associated with known populations of high velocity clouds. Of the 59 clouds presented here, only 11 are also present in the compact cloud catalog extracted from the commensal GALFA-HI survey, demonstrating the utility of this separate dataset and analysis. Based on their sky distri…
The neutral hydrogen~(HI) gas is an important barometer of recent star formation and metal enrichment activities in galaxies. I develop a novel statistical method for predicting the HI-to-stellar mass ratio $f_{gas}$ of galaxies from their stellar mass and optical colour, and apply it to a volume-limited galaxy sample jointly observed by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA survey. I eliminate the impact of the Malmquist bias against HI-deficient systems on the $f_{gas}$ predictor by properly accounting for the HI detection probability of each galaxy in the analysis. T…
We combine data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA Survey (ALFALFA) to study the cold atomic gas content of galaxies in groups and clusters in local universe. A careful cross-matching of galaxies in the SDSS, ALFALFA and SDSS group catalogs provides a sample of group galaxies with stellar masses $10^{8.4} M_{\odot} \le M_{*} \le 10^{10.6} M_{\odot}$ and group halo masses $10^{12.5} h^{-1} M_{\odot} \le M_h \le 10^{15.0} h^{-1} M_{\odot}$. Controlling our sample in stellar mass and redshift, we find no significant radial variation in the galaxy \hi\ gas-to…
We present VLA HI spectral line imaging of 5 sources discovered by ALFALFA. These targets are drawn from a larger sample of systems that were not uniquely identified with optical counterparts during ALFALFA processing, and as such have unusually high HI mass to light ratios. These candidate "Almost Dark" objects fall into 4 categories: 1) objects with nearby HI neighbors that are likely of tidal origin; 2) objects that appear to be part of a system of multiple HI sources, but which may not be tidal in origin; 3) objects isolated from nearby ALFALFA HI detections, but located near a gas-poor ea…
We report a multi-objective campaign of targeted 21 cm HI line observations of sources selected from the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA (Arecibo L-band Feed Array) survey (ALFALFA) and galaxies identified by their morphological and photometric properties in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). The aims of this program have been (1) to confirm the reality of some ALFALFA sources whose enigmatic nature suggest additional multiwavelength observations; (2) to probe the low signal-to-noise ratio regime, below the ALFALFA reliability limit; and (3) to explore the feasibility of using optical morphology, c…
We explore the environment of 252 HI-bearing Ultra Diffuse Galaxies (HUDs) from the 100% ALFALFA survey catalog in an attempt to constrain their formation mechanism. We select sources from ALFALFA with surface brightnesses, magnitudes, and radii consistent with other samples of Ultra Diffuse Galaxies (UDGs), without restrictions on their isolation or environment, more than doubling the previously reported ALFALFA sample. We quantify the galactic environment of HUDs using several metrics, including n-th nearest neighbour, tidal influence, membership in a group/cluster, and distance from nearest…
We present the observed H$α$ flux and derived star formation rates (SFRs) for a fall sample of low$-$surface$-$brightness galaxies (LSBGs). The sample is selected from the fall sky region of the 40$\%$ ALFALFA {\ion{H}{1}} survey $-$ SDSS DR7 photometric data, and all the $Hα$ images were obtained using the 2.16 m telescope, operated by the National Astronomy Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences. A total of 111 LSBGs were observed and $Hα$ flux was measured in 92 of them. Though almost all the LSBGs in our sample are {\ion{H}{1}}$-$rich, their SFRs derived from the extinction and filter$…
Using the group crossing time $t_{\rm c}$ as an age indicator for galaxy groups, we have investigated the correlation between $t_{\rm c}$ and the group spiral fraction, as well as between $t_{\rm c}$ and the neutral hydrogen gas fraction of galaxy groups. Our galaxy group sample is selected from the SDSS DR7 catalog, and the group spiral fraction is derived from the Galaxy Zoo morphological data set. We found that the group spiral galaxy fraction is correlated with the group crossing time. We further cross matched the latest released ALFALFA 70\% HI source catalog with the SDSS group catalog a…
We present results from deep HI and optical imaging of AGC 229101, an unusual HI source detected at v$_{\rm helio}$ = 7116 km/s in the ALFALFA survey. Initially classified as a candidate "dark" source because it lacks a clear optical counterpart in SDSS or DSS2 imaging, AGC 229101 has $10^{9.31\pm0.05}$ solar masses of HI, but an HI line width of only 43$\pm$9 km/s. Low resolution WSRT imaging and higher resolution VLA B-array imaging show that the source is significantly elongated, stretching over a projected length of ~80 kpc. The HI imaging resolves the source into two parts of roughly equa…
We provide a catalog of visually classified objects in the MaNGA integral field spectroscopic survey. The MaNGA survey is designed to target a single galaxy with each of its integral field units; however, many of these fields will host ancillary objects. We identify these discrete objects by cleaning up SDSS photometric objects in MaNGA's fields-of-view. We then use the spectra from MaNGA's data cubes to spectrally classify the identified objects. The catalog contains the positions and classifications of 1385 stars, 11,439 galaxies, and 107 broad-line active galactic nucleus (BLAGN) from the 1…
We applied computer analysis to classify the broad morphological type of ~3,000,000 SDSS galaxies. The catalog provides for each galaxy the DR8 object ID, right ascension, declination, and the certainty of the automatic classification to spiral or elliptical. The certainty of the classification allows controlling the accuracy of a subset of galaxies by sacrificing some of the least certain classifications. The accuracy of the catalog was tested using galaxies that were classified by the manually annotated Galaxy Zoo catalog. The results show that the catalog contains ~900,000 spiral galaxies a…
Using a sample of 117053 quasars identified in the PPMXL catalog, the systematic errors of the proper motions in the PPMXL catalog are estimated independently as -2.0 and -2.1 mas yr$^{-1}$ in $μ_α\cosδ$ and $μ_δ$, respectively. For objects with SDSS $r$ magnitude between 16.0 and 21.0 mag and SDSS $g-r$ color between -0.4 and 1.2, there are no obvious magnitude and color dependence in the systematic errors of the proper motions in the PPMXL catalog. The random errors of the proper motions in the PPMXL catalog change from $\sim4.0$ to $\sim8.0$ mas yr$^{-1}$ along with the increase of the magn…
We present the most precise measurement of the $z = 0$ HI mass function (HIMF) to date based on the final catalogue of the ALFALFA (Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA) blind HI survey of the nearby Universe. The Schechter function fit has a `knee' mass $\log (M_{*}\,h^{2}_{70}/\mathrm{M_{\odot}}) = 9.94 \pm 0.01 \pm 0.05$, a low-mass slope parameter $α= -1.25 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.1$, and a normalisation $ϕ_{*} = (4.5 \pm 0.2 \pm 0.8) \times 10^{-3} \; h^{3}_{70}\,\mathrm{Mpc^{-3}\,dex^{-1}}$, with both random and systematic uncertainties as quoted. Together these give an estimate of the HI content of the $z =…

We combine data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA Survey (ALFALFA) to establish an empirical model for the HI gas content within dark matter halos. A cross-match between our SDSS DR7 galaxy group sample and the ALFALFA HI sources provides a catalog of 16,520 HI-galaxy pairs within 14,270 galaxy groups (halos). Using these matched pairs, we model the HI gas mass distributions within halos using two components: 1) {\it in situ} galaxy relations that involve the HI masses, colors $({\rm g-r})$ and stellar masses 2) an {\it ex situ} dependence of the HI mass…
We present a catalogue of two-dimensional, point spread function-corrected de Vacouleurs, Sérsic, de Vacouleurs+Exponential, and Sérsic+Exponential fits of $\sim7\times10^5$ spectroscopically selected galaxies drawn from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 7. Fits are performed for the SDSS r band utilizing the fitting routine GALFIT and analysis pipeline PYMORPH. We compare these fits to prior catalogues. Fits are analysed using a physically motivated flagging system. The flags suggest that more than 90 per cent of two-component fits can be used for analysis. We show that the fit…
We present the fourth catalog of serendipitously discovered compact extragalactic emission-line sources -- H$α$ Dots. A total of 454 newly discovered objects are included in the current survey list. These objects have been detected in searches of moderately deep narrow-band images acquired for the ALFALFA H$α$ project (Van Sistine et al. 2016). The catalog of H-alpha Dots presented in the current paper was derived from searches carried out using ALFALFA H$α$ images obtained with the KPNO 2.1 m telescope. This results in a substantially deeper sample of Dots compared to our previous lists, whic…
We report the results of a search for long-period ($100<P<600$ days) periodic variability in SDSS Stripe 82 standards catalog. The SDSS coverage of Stripe 82 enables such a search because there are on average 20 observations per band in $ugriz$ bands for about 1 million sources, collected over about 6 years, with a faint limit of $r\sim22$ mag and precisely calibrated 1-2% photometry. We calculated the periods of candidate variable sources in this sample using the Lomb-Scargle periodogram and considered the three highest periodogram peaks in each of the $gri$ filters as relevant. Only those so…
We created a catalog of photometric redshift of ~3,000,000 SDSS galaxies annotated by their broad morphology. The photometric redshift was optimized by testing and comparing several pattern recognition algorithms and variable selection strategies, trained and tested on a subset of the galaxies in the catalog that had spectra. The galaxies in the catalog have i magnitude brighter than 18 and Petrosian radius greater than 5.5''. The majority of these objects are not included in previous SDSS photometric redshift catalogs such as the photoz table of SDSS DR12. Analysis of the catalog shows that t…
We present a photometric catalog of 8,735,004 proper motion selected low-mass stars (KML-spectral types) within the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) footprint, from the combined SDSS Data Release 10 (DR10), Two-Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS) Point Source Catalog (PSC), and Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) AllWISE catalog. Stars were selected using $r-i$, $i-z$, $r-z$, $z-J$, and $z-W1$ colors, and SDSS, WISE, and 2MASS astrometry was combined to compute proper motions. The resulting 3,518,150 stars were augmented with proper motions for 5,216,854 earlier type stars from the combined SD…
We present a catalog of true edge-on disk galaxies automatically selected from the Seventh Data Release (DR7) of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. A visual inspection of the $g$, $r$ and $i$ images of about 15000 galaxies allowed us to split the initial sample of edge-on galaxy candidates into 4768 (31.8% of the initial sample) genuine edge-on galaxies, 8350 (55.7%) non-edge-ons, and 1865 (12.5%) edge-on galaxies not suitable for simple automatic analysis because these objects show signs of interaction, warps, or nearby bright stars project on it. We added more candidate galaxies from RFGC, EFIGI,…
We used 3.1 million spectroscopically labelled sources from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) to train an optimised random forest classifier using photometry from the SDSS and the Widefield Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). We applied this machine learning model to 111 million previously unlabelled sources from the SDSS photometric catalogue which did not have existing spectroscopic observations. Our new catalogue contains 50.4 million galaxies, 2.1 million quasars, and 58.8 million stars. We provide individual classification probabilities for each source, with 6.7 million galaxies (13%), 0.3…
In this study, we present an update of a compilation of line width measurements of neutral atomic hydrogen (HI) galaxy spectra at 21 cm wavelength. Our All Digital HI (ADHI) catalog consists of the previous release augmented with our new HI observations and an analysis of archival data. This study provides the required HI information to measure the distances of spiral galaxies through the application of the Tully-Fisher (TF) relation. We conducted observations at the Green Bank telescope (GBT) and reprocessed spectra obtained at the Nancay radiotelescope by the Nancay Interstellar Baryons Lega…

We applied the image-based approach with a convolutional neural network model to the sample of low-redshifts galaxies with $-24^{m}<M_{r}<-19.4^{m}$ from the SDSS DR9. We divided it into two subsamples, SDSS DR9 galaxy dataset and Galaxy Zoo 2 (GZ2) dataset, considering them as the inference and training datasets, respectively. As a result, we created the morphological catalog of 315782 galaxies at 0.02<z<0.1, where morphological five classes and 34 detailed features (bar, rings, number of spiral arms, mergers, etc.) were first defined for 216148 galaxies (inference dataset) by the image-based…
We report the discovery and follow-up observations of a system of three objects identified by the ALFALFA extragalactic HI survey, cataloged as (almost) dark extragalactic sources, i.e., extragalactic HI detections with no discernible counterpart in publicly available, wide-field, imaging surveys. We have obtained deep optical imaging with WIYN pODI and HI synthesis maps with WSRT of the HI1232+20 system. The source with the highest HI flux has a newly discovered ultra-low surface brightness (LSB) optical counterpart associated with it, while the other two sources have no detected optical coun…
In this paper, we present GALEX-SDSS-WISE Legacy Catalog (GSWLC), a catalog of physical properties (stellar masses, dust attenuations and star formation rates (SFRs)) of ~700,000 galaxies with SDSS redshifts below 0.3. GSWLC contains galaxies within the GALEX footprint, regardless of a UV detection, covering 90% of SDSS. The physical properties were obtained from UV/optical SED fitting following Bayesian methodology of Salim et al. (2007), with improvements such as blending corrections for low-resolution UV photometry, flexible dust attenuation laws, and emission line corrections. GSWLC includ…
We present the catalog of Radio sources associated with Optical Galaxies and having Unresolved or Extended morphologies I (ROGUE~I), consisting of 32,616 spectroscopically selected galaxies. It is the largest handmade catalog of this kind, obtained by cross-matching galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 7 and radio sources from both the First Images of Radio Sky at Twenty Centimetre (FIRST) survey and the NRAO VLA Sky Survey \textit{without imposing a limit to the radio flux densities}. The catalog provides a \textit{visual} classification of radio and optical morpholo…
High proper motion stars probe several extreme stellar populations, including nearby objects, Galactic halo stars, and hyper-velocity stars. Extending the search for high proper motion stars, to faint limits can increase their numbers and help to identify interesting targets. We conduct a search for faint (r>19.5 mag) high proper motion stars (>~200 mas/yr) by comparing the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) - Data Release (DR) 10 catalog to the Pan-STARRS1-DR1 stacked image catalog. Our main selection criterion is stars that moved >1.5 arcsec and up to 7 arcsec between the SDSS and PS1 epochs. W…
The GPS1 catalog was released in 2017. It delivered precise proper motions for around 350 million sources across three-fourths of the sky down to a magnitude of $r\sim20$\,mag. In this study, we present GPS1+ the extension GPS1 catalog down to $r\sim22.5$\,mag, based on {\it Gaia} DR2, PS1, SDSS and 2MASS astrometry. The GPS1+ totally provides proper motions for $\sim$400 million sources with a characteristic systematic error of less than 0.1\masyr. This catalog is divided into two sub-samples, i.e., the primary and secondary parts. The primary $\sim$264 million sources have either or both of …
The integrated HI emission from hierarchical structures such as groups and clusters of galaxies can be detected by FAST at intermediate redshifts. Here we propose to use FAST to study the evolution of the global HI content of clusters and groups over cosmic time by measuring their integrated HI emissions. We use the Virgo cluster as an example to estimate the detection limit of FAST, and have estimated the integration time to detect a Virgo type cluster at different redshifts (from z=0.1 to z=1.5). We have also employed a semi-analytic model (SAM) to simulate the evolution of HI contents in ga…
We investigate Box/Peanut and bar structures in image data of edge-on and face-on nearby galaxies taken from SDSS (Sloan Digital Sky Survey) to present catalogues containing the surface brightness parameters and the morphology classification. About 1700 edge-on galaxies and 2600 face-on galaxies are selected from SDSS DR7 in g, r and i-band. The images of each galaxy are fitted with the model of 2-dimensional surface brightness of Sérsic bulge and exponential disk. After removing some irregular data, Box/Peanut, bar and other structures are easily distinguished by eye using residual (observed …
We introduce the Swift/UVOT+MaNGA (SwiM) value added catalog, which comprises 150 galaxies that have both SDSS/MaNGA integral field spectroscopy and archival Swift/UVOT near-UV (NUV) images. The similar angular resolution between the three Swift/UVOT NUV images and the MaNGA maps allows for a high-resolution comparison of optical and NUV indicators of star formation, crucial for constraining quenching and attenuation in the local universe. The UVOT NUV images, SDSS images, and MaNGA emission line and spectral index maps have all been spatially matched and re-projected to match the point spread…
Wolf-Rayet (WR) galaxies are a rare population of galaxies that host living high-mass stars during their WR phase (i.e. WR stars) and are thus expected to provide interesting constraints on the stellar Initial Mass Function, massive star formation, stellar evolution models, etc. Spatially resolved spectroscopy should in principle provide a more efficient way of identifying WR galaxies than single-fiber surveys of galactic centers such as SDSS-I & II, as WR stars should be more preferentially found in discs. Using IFU data from the ongoing SDSS-IV MaNGA survey, we have performed a thorough sear…
We extend the SDSS Stripe 82 Standard Stars Catalog with post-2007 SDSS imaging data. This improved version lists averaged SDSS ugriz photometry for nearly a million stars brighter than r~22 mag. With 2-3x more measurements per star, random errors are 1.4-1.7x smaller than in the original catalog, and about 3x smaller than for individual SDSS runs. Random errors in the new catalog are ~< 0.01 mag for stars brighter than 20.0, 21.0, 21.0, 20.5, and 19.0 mag in u, g, r, i, and z-bands, respectively. We achieve this error threshold by using the Gaia Early Data Release 3 (EDR3) Gmag photometry to …
Context. Friends-of-friends algorithms are a common tool to detect galaxy groups and clusters in large survey data. In order to be as precise as possible, they have to be carefully calibrated using mock catalogues. Aims. We create an accurate and robust description of the matter distribution in the local Universe using the most up-to-date available data. This will provide the input for a specific cosmological test planned as follow-up to this work, and will be useful for general extragalactic and cosmological research. Methods. We created a set of galaxy group catalogues based on the 2MRS and …
We apply a friends-of-friends algorithm to an enhanced SDSS DR12 spectroscopic catalog including redshift from literature to construct a catalog of $1588~N\ge3$ compact groups of galaxies containing 5179 member galaxies and covering the redshift range $0.01 < z < 0.19$. This catalog contains 18 times as many systems and reaches 3 times the depth of similar catalog of Barton et al. (1996). We construct catalogs from both magnitude-limited and volume-limited galaxy samples. Like Barton et al. (1996) we omit the frequently applied isolation criterion in the compact group selection algorithm. Thus…
We present a catalogue of an HI-selected sample of 1129 low surface brightness galaxies (LSBGs) searched from the alpha.40-SDSS DR7 survey. This sample, consisting of various types of galaxies in terms of luminosity and morphology, has extended the parameter space covered by the existing LSBG samples. Based on a subsample of 173 LSBGs which are selected from our entire LSBG sample to have the 2-horn shapes of the HI line profiles, minor-to-major axial ratios (b/a) less than 0.6 and signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) of HI detection greater than 6.5, we investigated the Tully-Fisher relation (TFr) of …
This paper presents the identification of galaxy clusters from the photometric redshift catalog based on three imaging surveys of SCUSS, SDSS, and unWISE. By applying a fast clustering algorithm, we obtain a total of 19,610 clusters in the redshift range of $0.05 < z < 0.65$ over a sky area of about 3,700 deg$^2$ in the south Galactic gap. Monte Carlo simulations show that the false detection rate is about 8.9\%. The redshift uncertainty is estimated to be about 0.013. The mass and richness of detected clusters are derived through the calibration based on the measurements of X-ray emission and…
We extend the catalogue of two-dimensional, PSF-corrected de Vacouleurs, Sersic, de Vacouleurs+Exponential, and Sersic+Exponential fits of ~7x10^5 galaxies presented in Meert, Vikram & Bernardi (2015) to include the g- and i-bands. Fits are analysed using the physically motivated flagging system presented in the original text, making adjustments for the differing signal-to-noise when necessary. We compare the fits in each of the g-, r-, and i-bands. Fixed aperture magnitudes and colours are also provided for all galaxies. The catalogues are available in electronic format.
This work presents the catalogue of optical spectral properties for all X-ray selected SPIDERS active galactic nuclei (AGN) up to SDSS DR14. SPIDERS (SPectroscopic IDentification of eROSITA Sources) is an SDSS-IV programme that is currently conducting optical spectroscopy of the counterparts to the X-ray selected sources detected in the ROSAT all-sky survey and the XMM-Newton slew survey in the footprint of the Extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS). The SPIDERS DR14 sample is the largest sample of X-ray selected AGN with optical spectroscopic follow-up to date. The catalogue…
We present one thousand mock galaxy catalogues for the analysis of the Low Redshift Sample (LOWZ, effective redshift z ~ 10.32) of the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey Data Releases 10 and 11. These mocks have been created following the PTHalos method of Manera13 et al. (2013) revised to include new developments. The main improvement is the introduction of a redshift dependence in the Halo Occupation Distribution in order to account for the change of the galaxy number density with redshift. These mock catalogues are used in the analyses of the LOWZ galaxy clustering by the BOSS collabor…
The "cosmic web", the filamentary large-scale structure in a cold dark matter Universe, is readily apparent via galaxy tracers in spectroscopic surveys. However, the underlying dark matter structure is as of yet unobservable and mapping the diffuse gas permeating it lies beyond practical observational capabilities. A recently developed technique, inspired by the growth and movement of Physarum polycephalum "slime mold", has been used to map the cosmic web of a low redshift sub-sample of the SDSS spectroscopic galaxy catalog. This model, the Monte Carlo Physarum Machine (MCPM) was shown to prom…
