The GPS1 catalog was released in 2017. It delivered precise proper motions for around 350 million sources across three-fourths of the sky down to a magnitude of $r\sim20$\,mag. In this study, we present GPS1+ the extension GPS1 catalog down to $r\sim22.5$\,mag, based on {\it Gaia} DR2, PS1, SDSS and 2MASS astrometry. The GPS1+ totally provides proper motions for $\sim$400 million sources with a characteristic systematic error of less than 0.1\masyr. This catalog is divided into two sub-samples, i.e., the primary and secondary parts. The primary $\sim$264 million sources have either or both of the {\it Gaia} and SDSS astrometry, with a typical precision of 2.0-5.0 \masyr. In this part, $\sim$160 million sources have {\it Gaia} proper motions, we provide another new proper motion for each of them by building a Bayesian model. Relative to {\it Gaia}'s values, the precision is improved by $\sim$0.1\,dex on average at the faint end; $\sim$50 million sources are the objects whose proper motions are missing in {\it Gaia} DR2, we provide their proper motion with a precision of $\sim$4.5\masyr; the remaining $\sim$54 million faint sources are beyond {\it Gaia} detecting capability, we provide their proper motions for the first time with a precision of 7.0 \masyr. However, the secondary $\sim$136 million sources only have PS1 astrometry, the average precision is worse than 15.0 \masyr. All the proper motions have been validated using QSOs and the existing {\it Gaia} proper motions. The catalog will be released on-line and available via the VO-TAP Service, or via the National Astronomical Data Center serviced by China-VO: https://nadc.china-vo.org/data/data/gps1p/f.
With the photometric data from the SDSS survey, the spectroscopic data from the SDSS/SEGUE and the LAMOST surveys, and the astrometric data from the Gaia DR2, we have identified 71 highly-probable member stars of the GD-1 cold stellar stream spread along almost its entire length (i.e. from 126 to 203 degree in Right Ascension). With the accurate spectroscopic (i.e. metallicity and line-of-sight velocity) and astrometric (i.e. proper motions) information, the position-velocity diagrams, i.e. $ϕ_{1}$-$μ_α$, $ϕ_{1}$-$μ_δ$ and $ϕ_{1}$-${v_{\rm gsr}}$, of the GD-1 stream are well mapped. The stream…
Gaia is regularly producing Alerts on objects where photometric variability has been detected. The physical nature of these objects has often to be determined with the complementary observations from ground-based facilities. We have compared the list of Gaia Alerts (until 20181101) with archival LAMOST and SDSS spectroscopic data. The date of the ground-based observation rarely corresponds to the date of the Alert, but this allows at least the identification of the source if it is persistent, or the host galaxy if the object was only transient like a supernova. A list of Gaia Nuclear Transient…
By mining the data from $Gaia$ EDR3, SDSS/SEGUE DR16 and LAMOST DR8, 11 member stars of the NGC 5466 tidal stream are detected and 7 of them are newly identified. To reject contaminators, a variety of cuts are applied in sky position, color-magnitude diagram, metallicity, proper motion and radial velocity. We compare our data to a mock stream generated by modeling the cluster's disruption under a smooth Galactic potential plus the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). The concordant trends in phase-space between the model and observations imply that the stream might have been perturbed by LMC. The two…
Validation of the Bond et al. (2010) SDSS-derived kinematic models for the Milky Way's disk and halo stars with Gaia Data Release 3 proper motion and radial velocity data
We investigate of the systems of proper motions of stars in the ground-based catalogues HSOY, UCAC5, GPS1 and PMA derived by combining with the Gaia DR1 space data. Assuming the systematic differences of stellar proper motions of two catalogues to be caused by the mutual solid-body rotation and glide of the coordinate systems produced by the data of the catalogues under comparison, we analyse the components of the mutual rotation vector and displacement of the origins of these systems. The equatorial components of the vector of mutual rotation velocity of the compared coordinate systems, as we…
Recently, the first installment of data from ESA's Gaia astrometric satellite mission (Gaia-DR1) was released, containing positions of more than 1 billion stars with unprecedented precision, as well as only proper motions and parallaxes, however only for a subset of 2 million objects. The second release, due in late 2017 or early 2018, will include those quantities for most objects. In order to provide a dataset that bridges the time gap between the Gaia-DR1 and Gaia-DR2 releases and partly remedies the lack of proper motions in the former, HSOY ("Hot Stuff for One Year") was created as a hybr…
Announcing the release v7.2 of the Milliquas (Million Quasars) catalogue which presents all published quasars to 30 April 2021, including VLASS radio associations for the first time, and concluding the audit of quasars from SDSS-DR16Q and earlier SDSS releases. The totals are 829666 classified type-I QSOs/AGN, 703348 quasar candidates of 60%-100% pQSO, plus type-II objects and blazars which bring the total count to 1573824. Radio and/or X-ray associations, including probable double radio lobes, are shown for 333638 entries. Gaia-DR2 astrometry is given for most objects, as available. The catal…
We provide new values of the orbital parameters of 152 globular clusters, which are calculated using the new mean proper motions obtained from the Gaia EDR3 catalog data. The orbits were integrated 5 Gyr back in an axisymmetric three-component potential with a spherical bulge, disk component, and spherical dark halo in the Navarro-Frenk-White form, which we refined using the rotation curve of objects with large galactocentric distances up to 200 kpc. The obtained orbital parameters were compared with the orbital parameters of the same globular clusters calculated earlier in the same gravitatio…
We study the kinematics of a sample of classical Cepheids younger than 120 Myr. For these stars, the estimates of distances taken from Skowron et al., which are based on the period-luminosity relation, and the line-of-sight velocities and the proper motions from the Gaia catalog are available. There are also distance estimates derived from the trigonometric parallaxes contained in the Gaia ERD3 catalog. A method, which relies on comparison of the first-order derivative of the Galactic rotation angular velocity, showed the need to lengthen the distance scales determined by Skowron et al. by abo…
The spatial velocities of the stars with high-precision positions, proper motions and parallaxes from the Gaia TGAS catalog and line-of-sight velocities from the RAVE5 catalog are considered. From the sample of 92395 stars with the age estimates we have obtained the following kinematic parameters: (U,V,W)=(9.42,20.34,7.21)+/-0.12,0.10,0.09) km/s, Ω=26.29+/-0.39 km/s/kpc and Ω'=-3.89+/-0.08 km/s/kpc^2, where V0=210+/-6 km/s (for adopted R0=8.0+/-0.2 kpc), and the Oort constants A=15.57+/-0.31 km/s/kpc and B=-10.72+/-0.50 km/s/kpc. It is shown that the parameters Ωand Ω' are stable to the star a…
We provide a catalog of visually classified objects in the MaNGA integral field spectroscopic survey. The MaNGA survey is designed to target a single galaxy with each of its integral field units; however, many of these fields will host ancillary objects. We identify these discrete objects by cleaning up SDSS photometric objects in MaNGA's fields-of-view. We then use the spectra from MaNGA's data cubes to spectrally classify the identified objects. The catalog contains the positions and classifications of 1385 stars, 11,439 galaxies, and 107 broad-line active galactic nucleus (BLAGN) from the 1…
We have obtained accurate dust reddening from far-ultraviolet (UV) to the mid-infrared (IR) for up to 5 million stars by the star-pair algorithm based on LAMOST stellar parameters along with GALEX, Pan-STARRS 1, Gaia, SDSS, 2MASS, and WISE photometric data. The typical errors are between 0.01-0.03 mag for most colors. We derived the empirical reddening coefficients for 21 colors both in the traditional (single valued) way and as a function of Teff and E(B-V) by using the largest samples of accurate reddening measurements, together with the extinction values from Schlegel et al. The correspondi…
The third Gaia data release is published in two stages. The early part, Gaia EDR3, gives very precise astrometric and photometric properties for nearly two billion sources together with seven million radial velocities from Gaia DR2. The full release, Gaia DR3, will add radial velocities, spectra, light curves, and astrophysical parameters for a large subset of the sources, as well as orbits for solar system objects. Before the publication of the catalogue, many different data items have undergone dedicated validation processes. The goal of this paper is to describe the validation results in te…
We applied computer analysis to classify the broad morphological type of ~3,000,000 SDSS galaxies. The catalog provides for each galaxy the DR8 object ID, right ascension, declination, and the certainty of the automatic classification to spiral or elliptical. The certainty of the classification allows controlling the accuracy of a subset of galaxies by sacrificing some of the least certain classifications. The accuracy of the catalog was tested using galaxies that were classified by the manually annotated Galaxy Zoo catalog. The results show that the catalog contains ~900,000 spiral galaxies a…
We present an HI-optical catalog of ~ 30,000 galaxies based on the 100% complete Arecibo Legacy Fast Arecibo L-band Feed Array (ALFALFA) survey combined with data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). Our goal is to facilitate public use of the completed ALFALFA catalog by providing carefully determined matches to SDSS counterparts, including matches for ~ 12,000 galaxies that do not have SDSS spectra. These identifications can provide a basis for further cross-matching with other surveys using SDSS photometric IDs as a reference point. We derive absolute magnitudes and stellar masses for …
Gaia's exceptional resolution (FWHM $\sim$ 0.1$^{\prime\prime}$) allows identification and cataloguing of the multiple images of gravitationally lensed quasars. We investigate a sample of 49 known lensed quasars in the SDSS footprint, with image separations less than 2$^{\prime\prime}$, and find that 8 are detected with multiple components in the first Gaia data release. In the case of the 41 single Gaia detections, we generally are able to distinguish these lensed quasars from single quasars when comparing Gaia flux and position measurements to those of Pan-STARRS and SDSS. This is because th…
Quasars are essential for astrometric in the sense that they are spatial stationary because of their large distance from the Sun. The European Space Agency (ESA) space astrometric satellite Gaia is scanning the whole sky with unprecedented accuracy up to a few muas level. However, Gaia's two fields of view observations strategy may introduce a parallax bias in the Gaia catalog. Since it presents no significant parallax, quasar is perfect nature object to detect such bias. More importantly, quasars can be used to construct a Celestial Reference Frame in the optical wavelengths in Gaia mission. …
We present the first detailed study of the behaviour of the stellar proper motion across the entire Galactic Anti-centre area visible in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey data. We use recalibrated SDSS astrometry in combination with positions from {\it Gaia} DR1 to provide tangential motion measurements with a systematic uncertainty $<$5 kms$^{-1}$ for the Main Sequence stars at the distance of the Monoceros Ring. We demonstrate that Monoceros members rotate around the Galaxy with azimuthal speeds of ~230 kms$^{-1}$, only slightly lower than that of the Sun. Additionally, both vertical and azimutha…
We analyze the anisotropy profile of the Milky Way's smooth, diffuse stellar halo using SDSS/SEGUE blue horizontal branch stars and SDSS/SEGUE and LAMOST K giants. These intrinsically luminous stars allow us to probe the halo to approximately 100 kpc from the Galactic center. Line-of-sight velocities, distances, metallicities, and proper motions are available for all stars via SDSS/SEGUE, LAMOST, and Gaia, and we use these data to construct a full 7D set consisting of positions, space motions, and metallicity. We remove substructure from our samples using integrals of motion based on the metho…
We extend the SDSS Stripe 82 Standard Stars Catalog with post-2007 SDSS imaging data. This improved version lists averaged SDSS ugriz photometry for nearly a million stars brighter than r~22 mag. With 2-3x more measurements per star, random errors are 1.4-1.7x smaller than in the original catalog, and about 3x smaller than for individual SDSS runs. Random errors in the new catalog are ~< 0.01 mag for stars brighter than 20.0, 21.0, 21.0, 20.5, and 19.0 mag in u, g, r, i, and z-bands, respectively. We achieve this error threshold by using the Gaia Early Data Release 3 (EDR3) Gmag photometry to …
Given their extremely large distances and small apparent sizes, quasars are generally considered as objects with near-zero parallax and proper motion. However, some special quasars may have abnormal astrometric characteristics, such as quasar pairs, lensed quasars, AGNs with bright parsec-scale optical jets, which are scientifically interesting objects, such as binary black holes. These quasars may come with astrometric jitter detectable with Gaia data, or significant changes in the position at different wavelengths. In this work, we aim to find these quasar candidates from Gaia EDR3 astrometr…
Using a sample of 117053 quasars identified in the PPMXL catalog, the systematic errors of the proper motions in the PPMXL catalog are estimated independently as -2.0 and -2.1 mas yr$^{-1}$ in $μ_α\cosδ$ and $μ_δ$, respectively. For objects with SDSS $r$ magnitude between 16.0 and 21.0 mag and SDSS $g-r$ color between -0.4 and 1.2, there are no obvious magnitude and color dependence in the systematic errors of the proper motions in the PPMXL catalog. The random errors of the proper motions in the PPMXL catalog change from $\sim4.0$ to $\sim8.0$ mas yr$^{-1}$ along with the increase of the magn…
We consider two previously studied samples of OB stars with different distance scales. The first one consists of 98 massive spectroscopic binary stars with photometric distances, and the second one consists on 140 OB stars with the distances determined along the lines of interstellar calcium. The OB stars are located at distances up to 7 kpc from the Sun. They are identified with the Gaia DR1 catalog. It is shown that the use of the proper motions, taken from the Gaia DR1 catalog, allows to reduce random errors of determination of the Galactic rotation parameters in comparison with the previou…
We present a new catalog of 40502 globular cluster (GC) candidates in NGC 5128 out to a projected radius of $\sim$150 kpc, based on data from the Panoramic Imaging Survey of Centaurus and Sculptor (PISCeS), Gaia Data Release 2, and the NOAO Source Catalog. Ranking these candidates based on the likelihood that they are true GCs, we find that approximately 1900 belong to our top two ranking categories and should be the highest priority for spectroscopic follow-up for confirmation. Taking into account our new data and a vetting of previous GC catalogs, we estimate a total GC population of $1450 \…
Making use of strong correlations between closely separated multiple or double sources and photometric and astrometric metadata in Gaia EDR3, we generate a catalog of candidate double and multiply imaged lensed quasars and AGNs, comprising 3140 systems. It includes two partially overlapping parts, a sample of distant (redshifts mostly greater than 1) sources with perturbed data, and systems resolved into separate components by Gaia at separations less than $2\arcsec$. For the first part, which is roughly one third of the published catalog, we synthesized 0.617 million redshifts by multiple mac…
The advent of deep, wide, accurate, digital photometric surveys exemplified by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) has had a profound impact on studies of the Milky Way. In the past decade, we have transitioned from a scarcity to an (over)abundance of precise, well calibrated, observations of stars over a large fraction of the Galaxy. The avalanche of data will continue throughout this decade, culminating with Gaia and LSST. This new reality will necessitate changes in methodology, habits, and expectations both on the side of the large survey projects as well as the astrophysics community at l…
The kinematic properties of the Scorpius-Centaurus association were studied using spatial velocities of approximately 700 young T Tauri stars. Their proper motions and trigonometric parallaxes were selected by Zari et al. from the Gaia DR2 catalog, and radial velocities were taken from various sources. The linear expansion coefficients new estimate of the association $K=39\pm2$ km/s/kpc is obtained by considering the influence of the galactic spiral density wave with an amplitude of radial disturbances $f_R=5$ km/s and solar phase in the wave $-120^\circ$. The proper rotation of the associatio…
We present the Star cluster Hunting Pipeline (SHiP) which can identify star clusters in GAIA DR2 data, and establish a star cluster catalog for the Galactic disk. A Friend of Friend based cluster finder method is used to identify star clusters using 5-dimensional stellar parameters, $l, b, \varpi, μ_α\cosδ$, and $μ_δ$. Our new catalog contains 2443 star cluster candidates identified from disk stars located within $|b|=25^\circ$ and with $G<18$ mag. An automatic isochrone fitting scheme is applied to all cluster candidates. With a combination of parameters obtained from isochrone fitting, we cl…
We present a photometric catalog of 8,735,004 proper motion selected low-mass stars (KML-spectral types) within the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) footprint, from the combined SDSS Data Release 10 (DR10), Two-Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS) Point Source Catalog (PSC), and Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) AllWISE catalog. Stars were selected using $r-i$, $i-z$, $r-z$, $z-J$, and $z-W1$ colors, and SDSS, WISE, and 2MASS astrometry was combined to compute proper motions. The resulting 3,518,150 stars were augmented with proper motions for 5,216,854 earlier type stars from the combined SD…
We have matched the ultraviolet (UV) sources in GUVcat_AIS (Bianchi et al.2017) with optical databases having similar depth and wide sky coverage. GUVcat_AIS has GALEX far-UV (FUV, lambda-eff ~1528Å) and near-UV (NUV, lambda-eff ~2310Å) photometry of approx 83~million sources, covering 24,788 square degrees of the sky, with typical depth of FUV=19.9, NUV=20.8~ABmag. Matches with Gaia and SDSS databases are presented here. Gaia data release 2 (DR2), covering the entire GUVcat footprint (Bianchi et al. 2019), detected about one third of the $GUVcat\_AIS$ sources. We found 31,925,294 Gaia~DR2 cou…
The Gaia mission has detected a large number of active galactic nuclei (AGN) and galaxies, but these objects must be identified among the 1000-fold more numerous stars. Extant astrometric AGN catalogs do not have the uniform sky coverage required to detect and characterize the all-sky low-multipole proper motion signals produced by the barycenter motion, gravitational waves, and cosmological effects. To remedy this, we present an all-sky sample of 567,721 AGN in Gaia Data Release 1, selected using WISE two-color criteria. The catalog has fairly uniform sky coverage beyond the Galactic plane, w…
We report the results of a search for long-period ($100<P<600$ days) periodic variability in SDSS Stripe 82 standards catalog. The SDSS coverage of Stripe 82 enables such a search because there are on average 20 observations per band in $ugriz$ bands for about 1 million sources, collected over about 6 years, with a faint limit of $r\sim22$ mag and precisely calibrated 1-2% photometry. We calculated the periods of candidate variable sources in this sample using the Lomb-Scargle periodogram and considered the three highest periodogram peaks in each of the $gri$ filters as relevant. Only those so…
High proper motion stars probe several extreme stellar populations, including nearby objects, Galactic halo stars, and hyper-velocity stars. Extending the search for high proper motion stars, to faint limits can increase their numbers and help to identify interesting targets. We conduct a search for faint (r>19.5 mag) high proper motion stars (>~200 mas/yr) by comparing the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) - Data Release (DR) 10 catalog to the Pan-STARRS1-DR1 stacked image catalog. Our main selection criterion is stars that moved >1.5 arcsec and up to 7 arcsec between the SDSS and PS1 epochs. W…
Context. Planetary nebulae (PNe) are a brief but important phase of stellar evolution. The study of Galactic PNe has historically been hampered by uncertain distances, but the parallaxes of PN central stars (CSPNe) measured by Gaia are improving the situation. Aims. Gaia's Early Data Release 3 (EDR3) offers higher astrometric precision and greater completeness compared to previous releases. Taking advantage of these improvements requires that the CSPNe in the catalogue be accurately identified. Methods. We applied our automated technique based on the likelihood ratio method to cross match know…
We combine Gaia DR1, PS1, SDSS and 2MASS astrometry to measure proper motions for 350 million sources across three-fourths of the sky down to a magnitude of $m_r\sim20$\,. Using positions of galaxies from PS1, we build a common reference frame for the multi-epoch PS1, single-epoch SDSS and 2MASS data, and calibrate the data in small angular patches to this frame. As the Gaia DR1 excludes resolved galaxy images, we choose a different approach to calibrate its positions to this reference frame: we exploit the fact that the proper motions of stars in these patches are {\it linear}. By simultaneou…
We use the SDSS-Gaia Catalogue to identify six new pieces of halo substructure. SDSS-Gaia is an astrometric catalogue that exploits SDSS data release 9 to provide first epoch photometry for objects in the Gaia source catalogue. We use a version of the catalogue containing $245\,316$ stars with all phase space coordinates within a heliocentric distance of $\sim 10$ kpc. We devise a method to assess the significance of halo substructures based on their clustering in velocity space. The two most substantial structures are multiple wraps of a stream which has undergone considerable phase mixing (S…
We present a mock catalog of Milky Way stars, matching in volume and depth the content of the Gaia data release 2 (GDR2). We generated our catalog using Galaxia, a tool to sample stars from a Besancon Galactic model, together with a realistic 3D dust extinction map. The catalog mimicks the complete GDR2 data model and contains most of the entries in the Gaia source catalog: 5-parameter astrometry, 3-band photometry, radial velocities, stellar parameters, and associated scaled nominal uncertainty estimates. In addition, we supplemented the catalog with extinctions and photometry for non-Gaia ba…
Quasars are very important in materializing the reference frame. The excess emission of AGNs (active galactic nuclei) in the mid infrared band can be used to identify quasar candidates. As extremely distant and point like objects, quasars also could be further selected by astrometry method. Increasing the number of reliable quasar candidates is necessary in characterizing the properties of Gaia astrometric solution and evaluating the reliability of Gaia own quasars classification. We identify quasars by using appropriate AllWISE [W1-W2] color and different combinations of astrometric criteria.…

By combining spectroscopic data from the LAMOST DR7, SDSS DR12, and corrected photometric data from the Gaia EDR3, we apply the Stellar Color Regression (SCR; Yuan et al. 2015a) method to recalibrate the SDSS Stripe 82 standard stars catalog of Ivezić et al. (2007). With a total number of about 30,000 spectroscopically targeted stars, we have mapped out the relatively large and strongly correlated photometric zero-point errors present in the catalog, $\sim$2.5 per cent in the $u$ band and $\sim$ 1 per cent in the $griz$ bands. Our study also confirms some small but significant magnitude depend…
We apply a friends-of-friends algorithm to an enhanced SDSS DR12 spectroscopic catalog including redshift from literature to construct a catalog of $1588~N\ge3$ compact groups of galaxies containing 5179 member galaxies and covering the redshift range $0.01 < z < 0.19$. This catalog contains 18 times as many systems and reaches 3 times the depth of similar catalog of Barton et al. (1996). We construct catalogs from both magnitude-limited and volume-limited galaxy samples. Like Barton et al. (1996) we omit the frequently applied isolation criterion in the compact group selection algorithm. Thus…
In this work, we use $13$ microlensing candidates with dark lenses from OGLE III catalogue \cite{2016MNRAS.458.3012W} and cross-match them with the GAIA catalogue. We identify the microlensing source stars in the GAIA catalogue by comparing the coordinate and the magnitude of stars and using the proper motion and the parallax parameters of the source stars. Combining with the microlensing light curves as well as the microlensing parallax effect, we determine the mass and the distance of lenses from Earth. We conclude that the lens for this set of microlensing events for the massive lenses are …
This paper presents the identification of galaxy clusters from the photometric redshift catalog based on three imaging surveys of SCUSS, SDSS, and unWISE. By applying a fast clustering algorithm, we obtain a total of 19,610 clusters in the redshift range of $0.05 < z < 0.65$ over a sky area of about 3,700 deg$^2$ in the south Galactic gap. Monte Carlo simulations show that the false detection rate is about 8.9\%. The redshift uncertainty is estimated to be about 0.013. The mass and richness of detected clusters are derived through the calibration based on the measurements of X-ray emission and…
We present an updated sample of blue horizontal-branch (BHB) stars selected from the photometric and spectroscopic data from Sloan Digital Sky Survey and its associated project Sloan Extension for Galactic Understanding and Exploration (SEGUE). With this data, we selected candidates for A-type stars in the color-color space and then a mixture modeling technique was implemented in order to distinguish between BHB and main-sequence/blue-straggler stars based on their surface gravity values ($\log \rm{g}$) estimated by the SEGUE Stellar Parameter Pipeline. Our robust approach allows us to attribu…
We present a cross-calibration of Hipparcos and Gaia EDR3 intended to identify astrometrically accelerating stars and to fit orbits to stars with faint, massive companions. The resulting catalog, the EDR3 edition of the Hipparcos-Gaia Catalog of Accelerations (HGCA), provides three proper motions with calibrated uncertainties on the EDR3 reference frame: the Hipparcos proper motion, the Gaia EDR3 proper motion, and the long-term proper motion given by the difference in position between Hipparcos and Gaia EDR3. Our approach is similar to that for the Gaia DR2 edition of the HGCA, but offers a f…
We use the distribution of accreted stars in SDSS-Gaia DR2 to demonstrate that a non-trivial fraction of the dark matter halo within Galactocentric radii of 7.5-10 kpc and $|z| > 2.5$ kpc is in substructure, and thus may not be in equilibrium. Using a mixture likelihood analysis, we separate the contributions of an old, isotropic stellar halo and a younger anisotropic population. The latter dominates and is uniform within the region studied. It can be explained as the tidal debris of a disrupted massive satellite on a highly radial orbit, and is consistent with mounting evidence from recent st…
Results of comparison of Gaia DR2 parallaxes with data derived from a combined analysis of 2MASS (Two Micron All-Sky Survey), SDSS (Sloan Digital Sky Survey), GALEX (Galaxy Evolution Explorer), and UKIDSS (UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey) surveys in four selected high-latitude $|b|>48^{\circ}$ sky areas are presented. It is shown that multicolor photometric data from large modern surveys can be used for parameterization of stars closer than 4400 pc and brighter than $g_{SDSS} = 19.^m6$, including estimation of parallax and interstellar extinction value. However, the stellar luminosity class sho…
We construct from Gaia eDR3 an extensive catalog of spatially resolved binary stars within $\approx$ 1 kpc of the Sun, with projected separations ranging from a few au to 1 pc. We estimate the probability that each pair is a chance alignment empirically, using the Gaia catalog itself to calculate the rate of chance alignments as a function of observables. The catalog contains 1.3 (1.1) million binaries with >90% (>99%) probability of being bound, including 16,000 white dwarf -- main sequence (WD+MS) binaries and 1,400 WD+WD binaries. We make the full catalog publicly available, as well as the …
The goal of this study is to present the development of a machine learning based approach that utilizes phase space alone to separate the Gaia DR2 stars into two categories: those accreted onto the Milky Way from those that are in situ. Traditional selection methods that have been used to identify accreted stars typically rely on full 3D velocity, metallicity information, or both, which significantly reduces the number of classifiable stars. The approach advocated here is applicable to a much larger portion of Gaia DR2. A method known as "transfer learning" is shown to be effective through ext…
Based on a comparison of the SRG/eROSITA catalog of X-ray active stars and the Gaia catalog, a sample of 502 peculiar objects was obtained for which Gaia, on one hand, detects statistically significant values of parallax or proper motion and, on the other hand, registers signs of the non zero source extent in the optical band. In the log ($F_X/F_{\rm opt}$) - (G-RP) color diagram these objects are separated from the balk of X-ray active stars and are located in the region typical for the galaxies with active nuclei. According to the SIMBAD database, about $\sim 50$% of them are confirmed AGNs …
We present a mock stellar catalog, matching in volume, depth and data model the content of the planned Gaia early data release 3 (Gaia EDR3). We have generated our catalog (GeDR3mock) using galaxia, a tool to sample stars from an underlying Milky Way (MW) model or from N-body data. We used an updated Besançon Galactic model together with the latest PARSEC stellar evolutionary tracks, now also including white dwarfs. We added the Magellanic clouds and realistic open clusters with internal rotation. We empirically modelled uncertainties based on Gaia DR2 (GDR2) and scaled them according to the l…
