Triangular decomposition of $SL_3$ skein algebras

We give an $SL_3$ analogue of the triangular decomposition of the Kauffman bracket stated skein algebras described by Le. To any punctured bordered surface, we associate an $SL_3$ stated skein algebra which contains the $SL_3$ skein algebra of closed webs. These algebras admit natural algebra morphisms associated to the splitting of surfaces along ideal arcs. We give an explicit basis for the $SL_3$ stated skein algebra and show that the splitting morphisms are injective and describe their images. By splitting a surface along the edges of an ideal triangulation, we see that the $SL_3$ stated skein algebra of any ideal triangulable surface embeds into a tensor product of stated skein algebras of triangles.

Triangular decomposition of skein algebras

By introducing a finer version of the Kauffman bracket skein algebra, we show how to decompose the Kauffman bracket skein algebra of a surface into elementary blocks corresponding to the triangles in an ideal triangulation of the surface. The new skein algebra of an ideal triangle has a simple presentation. This gives an easy proof of the existence of the quantum trace map of Bonahon and Wong. We also explain the relation between our skein algebra and the one defined by Muller, and use it to show that the quantum trace map can be extended to the Muller skein algebra.

We study the stated skein modules of marked 3-manifolds. We generalize the splitting homomorphism for stated skein algebras of surfaces to a splitting homomorphism for stated skein modules of 3-manifolds. We show that there exists a Chebyshev-Frobenius homomorphism for the stated skein modules of 3-manifolds which extends the Chebyshev homomorphism of the skein algebras of unmarked surfaces originally constructed by Bonahon and Wong. Skein algebras of surfaces

We show that the Kauffman bracket skein algebra of any oriented surface F (possibly with marked points in its boundary) has no zero divisors and that its center is generated by knots parallel to the unmarked components of the boundary of F. Furthermore, we show that skein algebras are Noetherian and Ore. Our proofs rely on certain filtrations of skein algebras induced by pants decompositions of surfaces. We prove some basic algebraic properties of the associated graded algebras along the way.

Dimension and Trace of the Kauffman Bracket Skein Algebra

Let $F$ be a finite type surface and $ζ$ a complex root of unity. The Kauffman bracket skein algebra $K_ζ(F)$ is an important object in both classical and quantum topology as it has relations to the character variety, the Teichmüller space, the Jones polynomial, and the Witten-Reshetikhin-Turaev Topological Quantum Field Theories. We compute the rank and trace of $K_ζ(F)$ over its center, and we extend a theorem of Frohman and Kania-Bartoszynska which says the skein algebra has a splitting coming from two pants decompositions of $F$.

Irreducible decomposition for local representations of quantum Teichmüller space

We give an irreducible decomposition of the so-called local representations (see arXiv:0707.2151) of the quantum Teichmüller space $\mathcal{T}_q(Σ)$ where $Σ$ is a punctured surface of genus $g>0$ and $q$ is a primitive $N$-th root of unity with $N$ odd. As an application, we construct a family of representations of the Kauffman bracket skein algebra of the closed surface $\overlineΣ$.

A new basis for the Homflypt skein module of the solid torus

In this paper we give a new basis, $Λ$, for the Homflypt skein module of the solid torus, $\mathcal{S}({\rm ST})$, which was predicted by Jozef Przytycki, using topological interpretation. Compatible pants decompositions for $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{C})$-representations of surface groups

For any irreducible representation of a surface group into $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{C})$, we show that there exists a pants decomposition where the restriction to any pair of pants is irreducible and where no curve of the decomposition is sent to a trace $\pm 2$ element. Homology TQFT's and the Alexander-Reidemeister Invariant of 3-Manifolds via Hopf Algebras and Skein Theory

We develop an explicit skein theoretical algorithm to compute the Alexander polynomial of a 3-manifold from a surgery presentation employing the methods used in the construction of quantum invariants of 3-manifolds. Multicurves and regular functions on the representation variety of a surface in SU(2)

We consider the representation space of a compact surface, that is the space of morphisms from the fundamental group to SU(2) up to conjugation. We show that the trace functions associated to multicurves on the surface are linearly independent as functions on the representation space. The proof relies on the Fourier decomposition of the trace functions with respect to some torus action provided by a pants decomposition. Consequently the space of trace functions is isomorphic to the skein algebra at A=-1 of the thickened surface.
