In the example of complex grassmannians, we demonstrate various techniques available for computing genus-0 K-theoretic GW-invariants of flag manifolds and more general quiver varieties. In particular, we address explicit reconstruction of all such invariants using finite-difference operators, the role of the q-hypergeometric series arising in the context of quasimap compactifications of spaces of rational curves in such varieties, the theory of twisted GW-invariants including level structures, as well as the Jackson-type integrals playing the role of equivariant K-theoretic mirrors.
Using localization methods on the moduli space of stable quasimaps to Grassmannian, we give explicit formulas of $J$-function and double $J$-function of stable quasimaps for complete intersection in Grassmannian.
In this paper we investigate the exactness of the Grassmannian BGG complexes introduced in a previous work (arXiv:1211.2486), and obtain some inequalities between some Hodge numbers of some irregular varieties. In particular, we obtain sharp lower bounds for the Hodge numbers of smooth subvarieties of Abelian varieties, as well as some improvements of results of Lazarsfeld and Popa and Lombardi concerning threefolds and fourfolds.
Motivated by recent works on localizations in A-twisted gauged linear sigma models, we discuss a generalization of toric residue mirror symmetry to complete intersections in Grassmannians.
The rim-hook rule for quantum cohomology of the Grassmannian allows one to reduce quantum calculations to classical calculations in the cohomology of the Grassmannian. We use the Abelian/non-Abelian correspondence for cohomology to prove a rim-hook removal rule for the cohomology of quiver flag varieties. Quiver flag varieties are generalisations of type A flag varieties; this result is new even in the flag case. This gives an effective way of computing products in their cohomology, reducing computations to that in the cohomology ring of the Grassmannian. We then prove a quantum rim-hook rule …
We prove the abelian-nonabelian correspondence for quasimap $I$-functions. That is, if $Z$ is an affine l.c.i. variety with an action by a complex reductive group $G$, we prove an explicit formula relating the quasimap $I$-functions of the GIT quotients $Z//_θ G$ and $Z//_θ T$ where $T$ is a maximal torus of $G$. We apply the formula to compute the $J$-functions of some Grassmannian bundles on Grassmannian varieties and Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in them.
A generically generated vector bundle on a smooth projective variety yields a rational map to a Grassmannian, called Kodaira map. We answer a previous question, raised by the asymptotic behaviour of such maps, giving rise to a birational characterization of abelian varieties. In particular we prove that, under the conjectures of the Minimal Model Program, a smooth projective variety is birational to an abelian variety if and only if it has Kodaira dimension 0 and some symmetric power of its cotangent sheaf is generically generated by its global sections.
The abelian-nonabelian correspondence outlined by Bertram, Ciocan-Fontanine, and Kim gives a broad conjectural relationship between (twisted) Gromov-Witten invariants of related GIT quotients. This paper proves a case of the correspondence explicitly relating genus zero m-pointed Gromov-Witten invariants of Grassmannians Gr(2,n) and products of projective space $\PP^{n-1} \times \PP^{n-1}$. Localization is used to compute twisted Gromov-Witten invariants of $\PP^{n-1} \times \PP^{n-1}$, and comparison of the moduli spaces of stable maps completes the proof.
We examine a class of Calabi-Yau varieties of the determinantal type in Grassmannians and clarify what kind of examples can be constructed explicitly. We also demonstrate how to compute their genus-0 Gromov-Witten invariants from the analysis of the Givental $I$-functions. By constructing $I$-functions from the supersymmetric localization formula for the two dimensional gauged linear sigma models, we describe an algorithm to evaluate the genus-0 A-model correlation functions appropriately. We also check that our results for the Gromov-Witten invariants are consistent with previous results for …
We completely describe the Brill-Noether theory for curves in the primitive linear system on generic abelian surfaces, in the following sense: given integers $d$ and $r$, consider the variety $V^r_d(|H|)$ parametrizing curves $C$ in the primitive linear system $|H|$ together with a torsion-free sheaf on $C$ of degree $d$ and $r+1$ global sections. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for this variety to be non-empty, and show that it is either a disjoint union of Grassmannians, or irreducible. Moreover, we show that, when non-empty, it is of expected dimension. This completes prior res…
We use Bott-Samelson resolutions of Schubert varieties in Grassmannians along with equiariant localization techniques to show that the factorial Schur functions and the factorial Grothendieck polynomials represent Schubert classes in equivariant cohomology and equivariant K-theory respectively.
We express a Schubert expansion of the Chern-Mather class for Schubert varieties in the even orthogonal Grassmannian via integrals involving Pfaffians and pushforward of the small resolutions in the sense of Intersection Cohomology (IH) constructed by Sankaran and Vanchinathan, instead of the Nash blowup. The equivariant localization is employed to show the way of computing the integral. As a byproduct, we present the computations. For analogy and the completion of the method in ordinary Grassmannians, we also suggest Kazhdan-Lusztig classes associated to Schubert varieties in the Lagrangian a…
To every matroid, we associate a class in the K-theory of the Grassmannian. We study this class using the method of equivariant localization. In particular, we provide a geometric interpretation of the Tutte polynomial. We also extend results of the second author concerning the behavior of such classes under direct sum, series and parallel connection and two-sum; these results were previously only established for realizable matroids, and their earlier proofs were more difficult.
We prove a quantum version of the localization formula of Witten that relates invariants of a git quotient with the equivariant invariants of the action. Using the formula we prove a quantum version of an abelianization formula of S. Martin relating invariants of geometric invariant theory quotients by a group and its maximal torus, conjectured by Bertram, Ciocan-Fontanine, and Kim. By similar techniques we prove a quantum Lefschetz principle for holomorphic symplectic reductions. As an application, we give a formula for the fundamental solution to the quantum differential equation (qde) for t…
The regular \Z^r-covers of a finite cell complex X are parameterized by the Grassmannian of r-planes in H^1(X,\Q). Moving about this variety, and recording when the Betti numbers b_1,..., b_i of the corresponding covers are finite carves out certain subsets Ω^i_r(X) of the Grassmannian. We present here a method, essentially going back to Dwyer and Fried, for computing these sets in terms of the jump loci for homology with coefficients in rank 1 local systems on X. Using the exponential tangent cones to these jump loci, we show that each Ω-invariant is contained in the complement of a union of …
The J-function in Gromov-Witten theory is a generating function for one-point genus zero Gromov-Witten invariants with descendants. Here we give formulas for the quantum K-theoretic J-functions of type A flag manifolds and conjectural formulas for other types. Some K-theoretic tools for computation are also provided. As an application, we prove the quantum K-theoretic J-function version of the abelian-nonabelian correspondence for Grassmannians and products of projective space.
We characterize the tempered part of the automorphic Langlands category D-mod(Bun_G) using the geometry of the big cell in the affine Grassmannian. We deduce that, for $G$ non-abelian, tempered D-modules have no de Rham cohomology with compact supports. The latter fact boils down to a concrete statement, which we prove using the Ran space and some explicit t-structure estimates: for $G$ non-abelian and $Σ$ a smooth affine curve, the Borel-Moore homology of the indscheme $Maps(Σ,G)$ vanishes.
If $K$ is a compact, connected, simply connected Lie group, its based loop group $ΩK$ is endowed with a Hamiltonian $S^1 \times T$ action, where $T$ is a maximal torus of $K$. Atiyah and Pressley examined the image of $ΩK$ under the moment map $μ$, while Jeffrey and Mare examined the corresponding image of the real locus $ΩK^τ$ for a compatible anti-symplectic involution $τ$. Both papers generalize well known results in finite dimensions, specifically the Atiyah-Guillemin-Sternberg theorem, and Duistermaat's convexity theorem. In the spirit of Kirwan's convexity theorem, this paper aims to fur…
We compute the quantum cohomology of symplectic flag manifolds. Symplectic flag manifolds can be described by non-abelian GLSMs with superpotential. Although the ring relations cannot be directly read off from the equations of motion on the Coulomb branch due to complication introduced by the non-abelian gauge symmetry, it can be shown that they can be extracted from the localization formula in a gauge-invariant form. Our result is general for all symplectic flag manifolds, which reduces to previously established results on symplectic Grassmannians and complete symplectic flag manifolds derive…
We define a formalism for computing open orbifold GW invariants of [C^3/G] where G is any finite abelian group. We prove that this formalism and a suitable gluing algorithm can be used to compute GW invariants in all genera of any toric CY orbifold of dimension 3. We conjecture a correspondence with the DT orbifold vertex of Bryan-Cadman-Young.
