We study various entanglement measures associated with certain non-conformal field theories. We consider non-conformal D$p$-brane backgrounds, which are dual to these field theories, for our holographic analysis. Restricting our interests in $p=1,2,4$, we explicitly compute properties of holographic entanglement entropy and entanglement wedge cross section, $\text{E}_{W}$, corresponding to two parallel strip shaped boundary subregions in these set ups. We study low and high temperature behaviours of these quantities analytically as well as using numerical methods. In all cases, the $\text{E}_{W}$ decrease monotonically with temperature. We observe discontinuous jumps in $\text{E}_{W}$ while the width of (as well as the separation between) the subregions reach critical values in all the cases considered. However, the corresponding holographic mutual information $\texttt{I}_{M}$ continuously decreases to zero for the aforementioned configurations. We also notice that the conjectured inequality $\text{E}_{W} \geq \texttt{I}_{M}/2$ still holds for non-conformal field theories as well. We analytically determine the critical separation between these subregions that triggers a phase transition in the holographic mutual information.
A simple derivation of the low-energy effective action for brane worlds is given, highlighting the role of conformal invariance. We show how to improve the effective action for a positive- and negative-tension brane pair using the AdS/CFT correspondence.
The quantization of the tensionless p-brane is discussed. Inspection of the constraint algebra reveals that the central extensions for the p-branes have a simple form. Using a Hamiltonian BRST scheme we find that the quantization is consistent in any space-time dimension while the quantization of the conformal tensionless p-brane gives a critical dimension $d=2$.
An introduction to the construction of D-branes using conformal field theory methods is given. A number of examples are discussed in detail, in particular the construction of all conformal D-branes for the theory of a single free boson on a circle.
We use fractional and wrapped branes to describe perturbative and nonperturbative properties of the gauge theories living on their worldvolume. (Talk given at the 35th International Symposium Ahrenshoop on the Theory of Elementary Particles, Wernsdorf, August 26-30, 2002.)
We study the time evolution of entanglement entropy in expanding universes with various matters. To describe expanding universes holographically, we take into account a braneworld moving in an asymptotic AdS space involving a uniform $p$-brane gas. In the braneworld model, an observer living in the braneworld detects the bulk motion of the braneworld as an expanding universe. We show that the entanglement entropy of expanding universes increases by the volume law in the early time and by the area law in the late time. We further consider the cosmological horizon, which is the border of the vis…
We outline the structure of boundary conditions in conformal field theory. A boundary condition is specified by a consistent collection of reflection coefficients for bulk fields on the disk together with a choice of an automorphism ωof the fusion rules that preserves conformal weights. Non-trivial automorphisms ωcorrespond to D-brane configurations for arbitrary conformal field theories.
Like BPS D3 brane, the non-supersymmetric (non-susy) D3 brane of type IIB string theory is also known to have a decoupling limit and leads to a non-supersymmetric AdS/CFT correspondence. The throat geometry in this case represents a QFT which is neither conformal nor supersymmetric. The `black' version of the non-susy D3 brane in the decoupling limit describes a QFT at finite temperature. Here we first compute the entanglement entropy for small subsystem of such QFT from the decoupled geometry of `black' non-susy D3 brane using holographic technique. Then we study the entanglement thermodynami…
We show that the conformal anomaly for N M5-branes grows like $N^3$. The method we employ relates Coulomb branch interactions in six dimensions to interactions in four dimensions using supersymmetry. This leads to a relation between the six-dimensional conformal anomaly and the conformal anomaly of N=4 Yang-Mills. Along the way, we determine the structure of the four derivative interactions for the toroidally compactified (2,0) theory, while encountering interesting novelties in the structure of the six derivative interactions.
We make some comments on the derivation of N=2 super-conformal field theories with smooth gauge group from M2-branes placed at conifold singularities, giving a detailed prescription for two specific examples: the singular cones over the Q^{111} and M^{110} manifolds.
We examine the hydrodynamic limit of non-conformal branes using the recently developed precise holographic dictionary. We first streamline the discussion of holography for backgrounds that asymptote locally to non-conformal brane solutions by showing that all such solutions can be obtained from higher dimensional asymptotically locally AdS solutions by suitable dimensional reduction and continuation in the dimension. As a consequence, many holographic results for such backgrounds follow from the corresponding results of the Asymptotically AdS case. In particular, the hydrodynamics of non-confo…
We study in detail the extension of the generalized conformal symmetry proposed previously for D-particles to the case of supersymmetric Yang-Mills matrix models of Dp-branes for arbitrary p. It is demonstrated that such a symmetry indeed exists both in the Yang-Mills theory and in the corresponding supergravity backgrounds produced by Dp-branes. On the Yang-Mills side, we derive the field-dependent special conformal transformations for the collective coordinates of Dp-branes in the one-loop approximation, and show that they coincide with the transformations on the supergravity side. These tra…
We report our recent results concerning d5 gauged supergravity (dilatonic gravity) considered on AdS background. The finite action on such background as well as d4 holographic conformal anomaly (via AdS/CFT correspondence) are found. In such formalism the bulk potential is kept to be arbitrary, dilaton dependent function. Holographic RG in such theory is briefly discussed. d5 AdS brane-world Universe induced by quantum effects of brane CFT is constructed. Such brane is spherical, hyperbolic or flat one. Hence, the possibility of quantum creation of inflationary brane-world Universe is shown.
In the context of the gauge/gravity duality applications, we study and compute the entanglement entropy of gauge theories corresponding to string/M theories on D3-, M2- and M5-brane backgrounds. This is achieved using the Ryu-Takayanagi formula. We obtain the entanglement entropy for the general cases of the D3-, M2- and M5-brane backgrounds and also for the near horizon AdS limit, as well as the non-conformal flat space limit in each case.
We compute the left-right entanglement entropy for Dp-branes in string theory. We employ the CFT approach to string theory Dp-branes, in particular, its presentation as coherent states of the closed string sector. The entanglement entropy is computed as the von Neumann entropy for a density matrix resulting from integration over the left-moving degrees of freedom. We discuss various crucial ambiguities related to sums over spin structures and argue that different choices capture different physics; however, we advance a themodynamic argument that seems to favor a particular choice of replica. W…
We consider in the Randall-Sundrum scenario the dynamics of a spherically symmetric 3-brane world when matter fields exist in the bulk. We determine exact 5-dimensional solutions which localize gravity near the brane and describe the dynamics of homogeneous polytropic matter on the brane. We show that these geometries are associated with a well defined conformal class of bulk matter fields. We analyze the effective polytropic dynamics on the brane identifying conditions which define it as singular or as globally regular.
In this work an algorithm is proposed to calculate entropy for field theories living on NS five branes, which gives a result invariant under T-duality. This is a deformation of the well known Ryu-Takayanagi formula, which takes into account dependence of localized backgrounds for the branes on winding modes of strings.
We calculate the holographic conformal anomaly and brane Newton potential when bulk is 5d AdS BH. It is shown that such anomaly is the same as in the case of pure AdS or (asymptotically) dS bulk spaces, i.e. it is (bulk) metric independent one. While Newton potential on the static brane in AdS BH is different from the one in pure AdS space, the gravity trapping still occurs for two branes system. This indicates to metric independence of gravity localization.
The compactness of the closed string in the classical Type II string theory reveals the duality, whereas the compactness of the open string reveals that the end of the string is on the hypersurface which satisfies the Dirichlet boundary condition.
We consider the left-right entanglement (LREE) entropy in 1+1 dimensions for WZW models on a circle, and for WZW models on untwisted and twisted D-branes. The consequences of level-rank duality for these applications is presented which provides a map of LREE from large to small central charge.
The defect conformal field theory describing intersecting D3-branes at a C^2/Z_k orbifold is used to (de)construct the theory of intersecting M5-branes, as well as M5-branes wrapping the holomorphic curve xy=c. The possibility of a 't Hooft anomaly due to tensionless strings at the intersection is discussed. This note is based on a talk given by Zachary Guralnik at the 35th International Symposium Ahrenshoop on the Theory of Elementary Particles.
The backreaction of D-branes on closed string moduli is studied in perturbed conformal field theory. To this end we analyse the divergences in the modular integral of the annulus diagram. By the Fischler-Susskind mechanism, these divergences lead to additional terms in the bulk renormalisation group equations. We derive explicit expressions for these backreaction terms, and follow the resulting renormalisation group flow in several examples, finding agreement with geometric expectations.
We compute the renormalized entanglement entropy (REE) for BPS black solutions in ${\cal N}=2$, 4d gauged supergravity. We find that this quantity decreases monotonically with the size of the entangling region until it reaches a critical point, then increases and approaches the entropy density of the brane. This behavior can be understood as a consequence of the REE being driven by two competing factors, namely entanglement and the mixedness of the black brane. In the UV entanglement dominates, whereas in the IR the mixedness takes over.
The AdS-bubble solutions interestingly mimic Schrödinger-like geometries when expressed in light-cone coordinates. These D$p$ bubble vacuas exhibit asymmetric scaling property with a negative dynamical exponent of time $a<0$, but are smooth geometries. Through a time-like T-duality we map these vacua to E$p$-brane bubbles with $a>0$ in type II* super-strings. We obtain an expression for the entanglement entropy for `bubble E3-branes'. It is argued that the entropy from E3-bubbles has to be the lowest.
We review holographic renormalization for non-conformal branes using the Hamilton-Jacobi formalism. We provide the tools required for the computation of the holographic dictionary, while we present some marginally new technical results regarding holographic renormalization for $Dp$-branes, $p<5$, for Einstein-Maxwell theory coupled to a dilaton. The computations are based on a recursive algorithm by Papadimitriou, that solves the radial Hamilton-Jacobi equation in the asymptotic boundary of the bulk. This paper is a short version of the Master thesis of the author written in 2014 at the Instit…
We apply the Kerr/CFT correspondence to the rotating black p-brane solutions. These solutions give the simplest examples from string theory point of view. Their near horizon geometries have structures of AdS, even though black p-brane solutions do not have AdS-like structures in the non-rotating case. The microscopic entropy which can be calculated via the Cardy formula exactly agrees with Bekenstein-Hawking entropy.
Conformal invariant new forms of $p$-brane and D$p$-brane actions are proposed. The field content of these actions are: an induced metric, gauge fields, an auxiliary metric and an auxiliary scalar field that implements the Weyl invariance. This scalar field transforms with a conformal weight that depends on the brane dimension. The proposed actions are Weyl invariant in any dimension and the elimination of the auxiliary metric and the scalar field reproduces the Nambu-Goto action for $p$-branes and the Born-Infeld action for D$p$-branes. As a consequence of the fact that in the $p$-brane case,…
A family of conformal boundary states for a free boson on a circle is constructed. The family contains superpositions of conventional U(1)-preserving Neumann and Dirichlet branes, but for general parameter values the boundary states are fundamental and preserve only the conformal symmetry. The relative overlaps satisfy Cardy's condition, and each boundary state obeys the factorisation constraint. It is also argued that, together with the conventional Neumann and Dirichlet branes, these boundary states already account for all fundamental conformal D-branes of the free boson theory. The results …
Decoupling limits of physical interest occur in regions of space--time where the string coupling diverges. This is illustrated in the celebrated example of five-branes. There are several ways to overcome this strong-coupling problem. We review those which are somehow related to two-dimensional conformal field theories. One method consists of distributing the branes over transverse space, either on a circle or over a sphere. Those distributions are connected to conformal field theories by T-dualities or lead to a new kind of sigma model where the target space is a patchwork of pieces of exact c…
We obtain the complete superconformal symmetry transformations on the worldvolume of a D3-brane in an $AdS_5\times S^5$ background by using a coset superspace approach. We show that in the large $R$-limit we recover all supersymmetries present on the worldvolume of a D3-brane in a Minkowski background, in particular the Volkov-Akulov supersymmetry. We conclude with a proposal for a scheme to construct higher derivative invariants in $D=4$, $\mathcal{N}=4$ settings.
We show how the linear special conformal transformation in four-dimensional N=4 super Yang-Mills theory is metamorphosed into the nonlinear and field-dependent transformation for the collective coordinates of Dirichlet 3-branes, which agrees with the transformation law for the space-time coordinates in the anti-de Sitter (AdS) space-time. Our result provides a new and strong support for the conjectured relation between AdS supergravity and super conformal Yang-Mills theory (SYM). Furthermore, our work sheds elucidating light on the nature of the AdS/SYM correspondence.
We discuss a model of a conformal p-brane interacting with the world volume metric and connection. The purpose of the model is to suggest a mechanism by which gravity coupled to p-branes leads to the formation of structure rather than homogeneity in spacetime. Furthermore, we show that the formation of structure is accompanied by the appearance of a multivalued cosmological constant, i.e., one which may take on different values in different domains, or cells, of spacetime. The above results apply to a broad class of non linear gravitational lagrangians as long as metric and connection on the p…
We compute the holographic entanglement entropy contribution from planar two-dimensional defects in six-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=(2,0)$ superconformal field theory, holographically dual to probe M2- and M5-branes in $AdS_7 \times S^4$. In particular, we test the viability of the universal contribution of the defect to entanglement entropy as a candidate $C$-function. We find that this coefficient is not monotonic under defect renormalization group flows triggered by the vacuum expectation value of a marginal operator. Another candidate $C$-function, the on-shell action inside the entanglement …
In the Randall-Sundrum scenario we analyze the dynamics of a spherically symmetric 3-brane when the bulk is filled with matter fields. Considering a global conformal transformation whose factor is the $Z_2$ symmetric warp we find a new set of exact dynamical solutions for which gravity is bound to the brane. The set corresponds to a certain class of conformal bulk fields. We discuss the geometries which describe the dynamics on the brane of polytropic dark energy.
We investigate the dynamics of dilatonic D-dimensional 0-branes in the near-horizon regime. The theory is given in a twofold form: two-dimensional dilaton gravity and nonlinear sigma model. Using asymptotic symmetries, duality relations, and sigma model techniques we find that the theory has three conformal points which correspond to (a) the asymptotic (Anti-de Sitter) region of the two-dimensional spacetime, (b) the horizon of the black hole, and (c) the infinite limit of the coupling parameter. We show that the conformal symmetry is perturbatively preserved at one-loop, identify the correspo…
The notion of generalized gravitational entropy introduced by Lewkowycz and Maldacena allows, via the AdS/CFT correspondence, to calculate CFT entanglement entropies. We adapt the method to the case where flavor branes are present and treated in the probe approximation. This allows to calculate the leading flavor correction to the CFT entanglement entropy from the on-shell action of the probe, while dealing with the backreaction is avoided entirely and from the outset. As an application we give concise derivations for the contribution of massless and massive flavor degrees of freedom to the en…
Following [arXiv:1202.5935 [hep-th]] and [arXiv:1212.4328 [hep-th]], we study non-conformal brane plane wave backgrounds dual to strongly coupled gauge theories with constant energy flux and holographic entanglement entropy for strip subsystems in them. We find that for the strip direction along the direction of the energy flux, the finite cutoff-independent part of entanglement entropy can be estimated in terms of a dimensionless combination of the energy density and the strip dimensions, alongwith an effective scale-dependent number of degrees of freedom. For the strip orthogonal to the flux…
We study the effects of asymmetry in entanglement thermodynamics of the CFT subsystems. It is found that `boosted' $p$-branes backgrounds give rise to the first law of the entanglement thermodynamics where the CFT pressure plays decisive role in the entanglement. Two different strip like subsystems, one parallel to the boost and the other perpendicular, are studied in the perturbative regime, where $T_{thermal}\ll T_E$. We also discuss the AdS-wave backgrounds where some universal bounds can be obtained.
We study corner contributions to holographic entanglement entropy in non-conformal backgrounds: a kink for D2-branes as well as a cone and two different types of crease for D4-branes. Unlike 2+1-dimensional CFTs, the corner contribution to the holographic entanglement entropy of D2-branes exhibits a power law behaviour rather than a logarithmic term. However, the logarithmic term emerges in the holographic entanglement entropy of D4-branes. We identify the logarithmic term for a cone in D4-brane background as the universal contribution under appropriate limits and compare it with other physica…
We first calculate the holographic entanglement entropy of M5 branes on a circle and see that it has phase transition during decreasing the compactified radius. In particular, it is shown that the entanglement entropy scales as $N^3$. Next, we investigate the holographic entanglement entropy of D0+D4 system on a circle and see that it scales as $N^2$ at low energy, likes as a gauge theory with instantons. However, at high energy it transforms to a phase which scales as $N^3$, like as M5 branes system. We also present the general form of holographic entanglement entropy of Dp, ${\rm D_p+D_{p+4}…
In the Randall-Sundrum scenario we analize the dynamics of a spherically symmetric 3-brane when matter fields propagate in the bulk. For a well defined class of conformal fields of weight -4 we determine a new set of exact 5-dimensional solutions which localize gravity in the vicinity of the brane and are stable under radion field perturbations. Geometries which describe the dynamics of inhomogeneous dust, generalized dark radiation and homogeneous polytropic dark energy are shown to belong to this set.
Entanglement temperature is an interesting quantity which relates the increased amount of entanglement entropy and energy for a weakly excited state in entanglement first-law, it is proportional to the inverse of the size of the entanglement subsystem and only depends on the shape of the entanglement region. We find the explicit formula of entanglement temperature for the general hyperscaling violation backgrounds with a strip-subsystem. We then investigate the entanglement temperature for a round ball-subsystem, we check that the entanglement temperature have a universal form when the hypersc…
The spectrum of D2-branes wrapped on an ALE space of general ADE type is determined, by representing them as boundary states of N=2 superconformal minimal models. The stable quantum states have RR charges which precisely represent the gauge fields of the corresponding Lie algebra. This provides a simple and direct physical link between the ADE classification of N=2 superconformal field theories, and the corresponding root systems. An affine extension of this structure is also considered, whose boundary states represent the D2-branes plus additional D0-branes.
We explore the possibilities of breaking conformal symmetry spontaneously by introducing flavour branes into conformal holographic backgrounds in the probe limit. A prototype model of such a mechanism is based on placing D7 - anti-D7 configuration in the Klebanov-Witten conifold based model. In this paper we generalize this model. We conjecture on the required topology of the backgrounds and the corresponding probe brane embeddings. We identify several models that obey these requirements and admit spontaneous breaking of conformal invariance. These include type IIB conifold based examples, dua…
Recently, boundary conformal field theories (BCFTs) have attracted much attention in the context of quantum gravity. This is because a BCFT can be dual to gravity coupled to a heat bath CFT, known as the island model. On this background, it would be interesting to explore the duality between the boundary and the braneworld. However, this seems to be a challenging problem. The reason is because although there has been much study of rational BCFTs, there has been comparatively little study of irrational BCFTs, and irrational BCFTs are expected to be the boundary duals of the braneworlds. For thi…
Classical and quantum symmetries of super $p$-branes preserving exotic 3/4 fraction of $N=1 D=4$ global supersymmetry are studied. Classical realization of the algebra of global and world-volume symmetries is constructed and its quantum generalizations are analyzed. Established is that the status of the conformal supersymmetry $OSp(1|8)$ as a proper quantum symmetry of brane depends both on the choice of its vacuum state and the associated ordering of $\hat{\cal Q}$ and $\hat{\cal P}$ operators.
We study the entanglement of closed strings degrees of freedom in order to investigate the microscopic structure and statistics of objects as D-branes. By considering the macroscopic pure state (MPS) limit, whenever the entanglement entropy goes to zero (in such a way that the macroscopic properties of the state are preserved), we show that boundary states may be recovered in this limit and, furthermore, the description through closed string (perturbative) degrees of freedom collapses. We also show how the thermal properties of branes and closed strings could be described by this model, and it…
We investigate boundary dynamics of orbifold conformal field theory involving T-duality twists. Such models typically appear in contexts of non-geometric string compactifications that are called monodrofolds or T-folds in recent literature. We use the framework of boundary conformal field theory to analyse the models from a microscopic world-sheet perspective. In these backgrounds there are two kinds of D-branes that are analogous to bulk and fractional branes in standard orbifold models. The bulk D-branes in T-folds allow intuitive geometrical interpretations and are consistent with the class…
In the Randall-Sundrum scenario we investigate the dynamics of a spherically symmetric 3-brane world when matter fields are present in the bulk. To analyze the 5-dimensional Einstein equations we employ a global conformal transformation whose factor characterizes the $Z_2$ symmetric warp. We find a new set of exact dynamical collapse solutions which localize gravity in the vicinity of the brane for a stress-energy tensor of conformal weight -4 and a warp factor that depends only on the coordinate of the fifth dimension. Geometries which describe the dynamics of inhomogeneous dust and generaliz…
In the Randall-Sundrum scenario we consider exact 5-dimensional solutions with localized gravity which are associated with a well defined class of conformal bulk fields. We analyze their behaviour under radion field perturbations. We show that if the Randall-Sundrum exponential warp is the localizing metric function and the equation of state of the conformal fields is not changed by the radion perturbation then the 5-dimensional solutions are unstable. We present new stable solutions which describe on the brane the dynamics of inhomogeneous dust, generalized dark radiation and homogeneous poly…
The AdS/CFT transformation relates two nonlinear realizations of (super)conformal groups: their realization in the appropriate field theories in Minkowski space with a Goldstone dilaton field and their realization as (super)isometry groups of AdS (super)spaces. It exists already at the classical level and maps the field variables and space-time coordinates of the given (super)conformal field theory in $d$-dimensional Minkowski space ${\cal M}_d$ on the variables of a scalar codimension one (super)brane in AdS$_{d+1}$ in a static gauge, the dilaton being mapped on the transverse AdS brane coord…
We show how the anti-de Sitter isometries of a brane solution of supergravity theory produce superconformal invariance of their world-volume action. In this way linear as well as non-linear superconformal actions are obtained in various dimensions. Two particular examples are a conformal action with the antisymmetric tensor in 6 dimensions in Pasti-Sorokin-Tonin formulation, and superconformal mechanics.
In the presence of constant background electromagnetic fields, we discuss three types of exactly marginal boundary tachyon operators for static kinks in boundary conformal field theory. Functional forms of three operators are hyperbolic sine, hyperbolic cosine, and exponential types, and they describe codimension-one solitons when the transverse electric field has overcritical value. The energy-momentum tensor and the source for antisymmetric tensor field are computed in the path integral approach for the exponential-type tachyon vertex operator.
In this note, we study the first law of entanglement in a boundary conformal field theory (BCFT) dual to warped AdS cut off by a brane. Exploiting the symmetry of boundary-centered half-balls in the BCFT, and using Wald's covariant phase space formalism in the presence of boundaries, we derive constraints from the first law for a broad range of covariant bulk Lagrangians. We explicitly evaluate these constraints for Einstein gravity, and find a local equation on the brane which is precisely the Neumann condition of Takayanagi [arXiv:1105.5165] at linear order in metric perturbations. This is a…
In this article we summarise the brane solutions (instantons, black holes and strings) in 4 dimensions when embedded in N=2 supergravity. Like in 10 dimensions these solutions are related by duality transformations (T-duality, c-map). For the case that the graviphoton has no magnetic charge, we discuss the conformal field theory description of the near-horizon geometry. The decoupling of the massless modes in the matrix limit of the M-theory compactified on a Calabi-Yau threefold is discussed.
Gauge/gravity duality relates an AdS black hole with uniform boost with a boosted strongly-coupled CFT at finite temperature. We study the perturbative change in holographic entanglement entropy for strip sub-region in such gravity solutions up to third order and try to formulate a first law of entanglement thermodynamics including higher order corrections. The first law receives important contribution from an entanglement chemical potential in presence of boost. We find that suitable modifications to the entanglement temperature and entanglement chemical potential are required to account for …
In a previous publication we have shown that the gauge theory of relativistic 3-Branes can be formulated in a conformally invariant way if the embedding space is six-dimensional. The implementation of conformal invariance requires the use of a modified measure, independent of the metric in the action. We here generalize the theory to include conformal invariance breaking and a dynamical scalar field with a non-trivial potential. The non conformal invariance contribution can be interpreted as originating from a continious "non ideal brane fluid" that exists between two singular branes. The scal…
In the framework of boundary conformal field theory we consider a flat unstable D$p$-brane in the presence of a large constant electromagnetic field. Specifically, we study the case that the electromagnetic field satisfy the following three conditions: (i) a constant electric field is turned on along the $x^1$ direction ($E_{1}\ne 0$); (ii) the determinant of the matrix $(η+ F)$ is negative so that it lies in the physical region ($-\det (η+ F)>0$); (iii) the 11-component of its cofactor is positive to the large electromagnetic field. In this case, we identify exactly marginal deformations depe…
We examine the boundary conditions associated with extended supersymmetric Maxwell theory in 5-dimensional anti-De Sitter space. Excitations on the boundary are identical to those of ordinary 4-dimensional conformal invariant super electrodynammics. Extrapolations of these excitations give rise to a 5-dimensional topological gauge theory of the singleton type. The possibility of a connection of this phenomenon to the world volume theory of 3-branes in IIB string theory is discussed.
