In this article we establish new inequalities, both conditional and unconditional, for the restriction problem associated to the hyperbolic, or one-sheeted, hyperboloid in three dimensions, endowed with a Lorentz-invariant measure. These inequalities are unconditional (and optimal) in the bilinear range $q > \frac{10}{3}$.

In this note, we continue our research on Fourier restriction for hyperbolic surfaces, by studying local perturbations of the hyperbolic paraboloid $z=xy,$ which are of the form $z=xy+h(y),$ where $h(y)$ is a smooth function of finite type. Our results build on previous joint work in which we have studied the case $h(y)=y^3/3$ by means of the bilinear method. As it turns out, the understanding of that special case becomes also crucial for the treatment of arbitrary finite type perturbation terms $h(y).$

We study the problem of existence of extremizers for the $L^2$ to $L^p$ adjoint Fourier restriction inequalities on the hyperboloid in dimensions 3 and 4, in which cases $p$ is an even integer. We will use the method developed by Foschi to show that extremizers do not exist.

We deal with the restriction phenomenon for the Fourier transform. We prove that each of the restriction conjectures for the sphere, the paraboloid, the elliptic hyperboloid in $\mathbb{R}^n$ implies that for the cone in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$. We also prove a new restriction estimate for any surface in $\mathbb{R}^3$ locally isometric to the plane and of finite type.
Recently Wolff obtained a sharp $L^2$ bilinear restriction theorem for bounded subsets of the cone in general dimension. Here we adapt the argument of Wolff to also handle subsets of ``elliptic surfaces'' such as paraboloids and spheres. Conditional on Fourier restriction estimates for elliptic hypersurfaces, we prove optimal restriction estimates for polynomial hypersurfaces of revolution for which the defining polynomial has non-negative coefficients. We prove new $L^p$-$L^q$-estimates for solutions to elliptic differential operators with constant coefficients in $\mathbb{R}^3$. We use the estimates for the decay of the Fourier transform of particular surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^3$ with vanishing Gaussian curvature due to Erdős--Salmhofer to derive new Fourier restriction--extension estimates. These allow for constructing distributional solutions in $L^q(\mathbb{R}^3)$ for $L^p$-data via limiting absorption by well-known means.
