The Variational Field Equations of Cosmological Topologically Massive Supergravity

Constrained Euler-Poincare Supergravity in Five Dimensions

The N=2 supergravity action in D=5 is generalized by the inclusion of dimensionally continued Euler-Poincare form. The spacetime torsion implied by the Einsteinean supergravity is imposed by a Lagrangian constraint and resulting variational equations are solved for the Lagrange multipliers. The corresponding terms in the Einstein and Rarita-Schwinger field equations are determined. These indicate new types of interactions that could be included in the action to achieve local supersymmetry.

Super-Geometrodynamics

We present explicit solutions of the time-symmetric initial value constraints, expressed in terms of freely specfiable harmonic functions for examples of supergravity theories, which emerge as effective theories of compactified string theory. Instability in cosmological topologically massive gravity at the chiral point

We consider cosmological topologically massive gravity at the chiral point with positive sign of the Einstein-Hilbert term. We demonstrate the presence of a negative energy bulk mode that grows linearly in time. Unless there are physical reasons to discard this mode, this theory is unstable. To address this issue we prove that the mode is not pure gauge and that its negative energy is time-independent and finite. New Improved Massive Gravity and Three Dimensional Spacetimes of Constant Curvature and Constant Torsion

We derive the field equations for topologically massive gravity coupled with the most general quadratic curvature terms using the language of exterior differential forms and a first order constrained variational principle. We find variational field equations both in the presence and absence of torsion. We then show that spaces of constant negative curvature (i.e. the anti de-Sitter space $AdS_3$) and constant torsion provide exact solutions.

A One-loop Test of Quantum Black Holes in Anti de Sitter Space

Within eleven dimensional supergravity we compute the logarithmic correction to the entropy of magnetically charged asymptotically AdS${}_4$ black holes with arbitrary horizon topology. We find perfect agreement with the expected microscopic result arising from the dual field theory computation of the topologically twisted index. Our result relies crucially on a particular limit to the extremal black hole case and clarifies some aspects of quantum corrections in asymptotically AdS spacetimes.

Triple M-brane configurations and preserved supersymmetries

We investigate all standard triple composite M-brane intersections defined on products of Ricci-flat manifolds for preserving supersymmetries in eleven-dimensional N =1 supergravity. The explicit formulae for computing the numbers of preserved supersymmetries are obtained, which generalize the relations for topologically trivial flat factor spaces presented in the classification by Bergshoeff et al.
