Using the approach based on conformal symmetry we calculate the two-loop coefficient function for the vector flavor-nonsinglet contribution to deeply-virtual Compton scattering (DVCS). The analytic expression for the coefficient function in momentum fraction space is presented in the $\overline{\text{MS}}$ scheme. The corresponding next-to-next-to-leading order correction to the Compton form factor $\mathcal{H}$ for a simple model of the generalized parton distribution appears to be rather large: a factor two smaller than the next-to-leading order correction, approximately $\sim 10$\% of the tree level result in the bulk of the kinematic range, for $Q^2=4$ GeV$^2$.
We computed the NLO corrections to twist-3, $L \to T$, flavor non-singlet amplitude in DVCS on a nucleon in the Wandzura-Wilczek approximation. Explicit calculation shows that factorization holds for NLO contribution to this amplitude, although the structure of the factorized amplitude at the NLO is more complicated than in the leading-order formula. Next-to-leading order coefficient functions for matrix elements of twist-3 vector and axial-vector quark string operators and their LO evolution equations are presented.
We give a complete treatment of factorisation of Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) in the generalised Bjorken limit, using the local Operator Product Expansion (OPE). The method allows a straightforward proof that, at leading twist, the DVCS amplitude factorises into an integral over coefficient functions and Skewed Parton Distribution Functions (SPDFs). The integral is well defined for on-shell final state photon if the Wilson coefficients satisfy a certain factorisation condition, which we derive. We also show that it enables a simple proof that soft singularities either cancel out or…
Double logarithms resummation has been much studied in inclusive as well as exclusive processes. The Sudakov mechanism has often be the crucial tool to exponentiate potentially large contributions to amplitudes or cross-sections near phase-space boundaries. We report on a recent work where a very different pattern emerges : the DVCS quark coefficient function C(x,ξ) develops, near the particular point x=ξ, a non-alternate series in α_s^n log^{2n}(x-ξ) which may be resummed in a cosh[K sqrt α_s log(x-ξ)] factor. This result is at odds with the known result for the corresponding coefficient func…
We report on a calculation to show that the Fourier transform of the Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) amplitude with respect to the skewness variable ζat fixed invariant momentum transfer squared t gives results that are analogous to the diffractive scattering of a wave in optics. As a specific example, we utilize the quantum fluctuations of a fermion state at one loop in QED to obtain the behavior of the DVCS amplitude for electron-photon scattering. We then simulate the wavefunctions for a hadron by differentiating the above LFWFs with respect to M^2 and study the corresponding DVCS …
We show that the Fourier transform of the Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) amplitude with respect to the skewness variable $ζ$ at fixed invariant momentum transfer squared $t$ provides a unique way to visualize the structure of the target hadron in the boost-invariant longitudinal coordinate space. The results are analogous to the diffractive scattering of a wave in optics. As a specific example, we utilize the quantum fluctuations of a fermion state at one loop in QED to obtain the behavior of the DVCS amplitude for electron-photon scattering. We then simulate the wavefunctions for a …
The Fourier transform of the deeply virtual Compton scattering amplitude (DVCS) with respect to the skewness parameter ζ= Q^2/ 2 p.q can be used to provide an image of the target hadron in the boost-invariant variable σ, the coordinate conjugate to light-front time τ=t+ z/ c. As an illustration, we construct a consistent covariant model of the DVCS amplitude and its associated generalized parton distributions using the quantum fluctuations of a fermion state at one loop in QED, thus providing a representation of the light-front wavefunctions of a lepton in σspace. A consistent model for hadron…
Combining dispersion and operator product expansion techniques, we derive the conformal partial wave decomposition of the virtual Compton scattering amplitude in terms of complex conformal spin to twist-two accuracy. The perturbation theory predictions for the deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) amplitude are presented in next-to-leading order for both conformal and modified minimal subtraction scheme. Within a conformal subtraction scheme, where we exploit predictive power of conformal symmetry, the radiative corrections are presented up to next-to-next-to-leading order accuracy. Here, b…
Deeply-virtual Compton scattering gives access to the generalized parton distributions that encode the information on the transverse position of quarks and gluons in the proton in dependence in their longitudinal momentum. In anticipation of the high-precision experimental data in a broad kinematic range from the Electron-Ion Collider, we have calculated the two-loop, next-to-next-to-leading (NNLO) DVCS coefficient functions associated with the dominant Compton form factors $\mathcal H$ and $\mathcal E$ at large energies. The NNLO correction to the imaginary part of $\mathcal H$ appears to be …
We derive an all order resummation formula for the deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) amplitude, which takes into account soft gluon exchanges in the non-singlet quark coefficient function. We identify the ladder diagrams responsible in light-like gauge for [alphaS log^2 (x +/- xi)]^n contributions. The resummed series results in a simple closed expression.
In this paper we consider the matching coefficients up to two loops between Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) and Non-Relativistic QCD (NRQCD) for the vector, axial-vector, scalar and pseudo-scalar currents. The structure of the effective theory is discussed and analytical results are presented. Particular emphasis is put on the singlet diagrams.
We present a general procedure for obtaining the coefficients of the scalar bubble and triangle integral functions of one-loop amplitudes. Coefficients are extracted by considering two-particle and triple unitarity cuts of the corresponding bubble and triangle integral functions. After choosing a specific parameterisation of the cut loop momentum we can uniquely identify the coefficients of the desired integral functions simply by examining the behaviour of the cut integrand as the unconstrained parameters of the cut loop momentum approach infinity. In this way we can produce compact forms for…
We compute the matching coefficients between QCD and non-relativistic QCD for external vector, axial-vector, scalar and pseudo-scalar currents up to three-loop order. We concentrate on the non-singlet contributions and present precise numerical results with an accuracy of about ten digits. For the vector current the results from arXiv:1401.3004 are confirmed, increasing the accuracy by several orders of magnitude.
I describe a method for determining the coefficients of scalar integrals for one-loop amplitudes in quantum field theory. The method is based upon generalized unitarity and the behavior of amplitudes when the free parameters of the cut momenta approach infinity. The method works for arbitrary masses of both external and internal legs of the amplitudes. It therefore applies not only to QCD but also to the Electroweak theory and to quantum field theory in general.
We evaluate the corrections to the matching coefficient of the vector current between Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) and Non-Relativistic QCD (NRQCD) to three-loop order containing a closed heavy-fermion loop. The result constitutes a building block both for the bottom- and top-quark system at threshold. Strong emphasis is put on our completely automated approach of the calculation including the generation of the Feynman diagrams, the identification of the topologies, the reduction to master integrals and the automated numerical computation of the latter.
We report on our latest results in the calculation of the three-loop heavy flavor contributions to the Wilson coefficients in deep-inelastic scattering in the asymptotic region $Q^2 \gg m^2$. We discuss the different methods used to compute the required operator matrix elements and the corresponding Feynman integrals. These methods very recently allowed us to obtain a series of new operator matrix elements and Wilson coefficients like the flavor non-singlet and pure singlet Wilson coefficients.
We report on recent results obtained for the 3-loop heavy flavor Wilson coefficients in deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) at general values of the Mellin variable $N$ at larger scales of $Q^2$. These concern contributions to the gluonic ladder-topologies, the transition matrix elements in the variable flavor scheme of $O(n_f T_F^2)$ and $O(T_F^2)$, and first results on higher 3-loop topologies. The knowledge of the heavy flavor Wilson coefficients at 3-loop order is of importance to extract the parton distribution functions and $α_s(M_Z^2)$ in complete NNLO QCD analyses of the world precision da…
We consider the Lagrange density of non-relativistic Quantum Chromodynamics expanded up to order $1/m^2$, where $m$ is the heavy quark mass, and compute several matching coefficients up to two-loop order. Our results are building blocks for next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic and next-to-next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order corrections to the threshold production of top quark pairs and the decay of heavy quarkonia. We describe the techniques used for the calculation and provide analytic results for a general covariant gauge.
In this paper we consider the matching coefficient of the vector current between Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) and Non-Relativistic QCD (NRQCD) to three-loop order in perturbation theory. We evaluate the fermionic corrections containing a closed massless fermion loop. The results are building blocks both for the bottom and top quark system at threshold. We explain in detail the methods used for the evaluation of the Feynman diagrams, classify the occurring master integrals and provide results for the latter. The numerical effects are significant. They have the tendency to improve the behaviour …
We present a fully automated procedure providing an easy way to perform, systematically, phenomenological analyses in flavor physics for general BSM scenarios. This procedure relies on MARTY-1.4, is model independent and requires as input only the Lagrangian of the theory. Once the Lagrangian has been defined, tree-level and one-loop Wilson coefficients can be calculated symbolically by MARTY, from which flavor observables can be computed numerically by available software programs. We focus in particular on $b\to sγ$ and the recently updated $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ observables which are in tensio…
We present a new and fully general algorithm for the automated construction of the integrands of two-loop scattering amplitudes. This is achieved through a generalisation of the open-loops method to two loops. The core of the algorithm consists of a numerical recursion, where the various building blocks of two-loop diagrams are connected to each other through process-independent operations that depend only on the Feynman rules of the model at hand. This recursion is implemented in terms of tensor coefficients that encode the polynomial dependence of loop numerators on the two independent loop …
When relating the strong coupling $α_s$, measured at the scale of the $Z$ boson mass, to its numerical value at some higher energy, for example the scale of Grand Unification, it is important to include higher order corrections both in the running of $α_s$ and the decoupling of the heavy particles. We compute the two-loop matching coefficients for $α_s$ within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) which are necessary for a consistent three-loop evolution of the strong coupling constant. Different scenarios for the hierarchy of the supersymmetric scales are considered and the numeric…
The calculation of one-loop Wilson coefficients for general Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) scenarios is a technical challenge often addressed by doing long and error prone analytical calculations by hand. Several software programs already provide squared amplitude calculations at the loop-level, but few of them are also able to derive general loop-level Wilson coefficients necessary e.g. for the study of quark decays in flavor physics. MARTY, a computer program that automates tree-level and one-loop perturbative calculations for general BSM scenarios can in particular be used to obtain such W…
We present a new procedure using on-shell recursion to determine coefficients of integral functions appearing in one-loop scattering amplitudes of gauge theories, including QCD. With this procedure, coefficients of integrals, including bubbles and triangles, can be determined without resorting to integration. We give criteria for avoiding spurious singularities and boundary terms that would invalidate the recursion. As an example where the criteria are satisfied, we obtain all cut-constructible contributions to the one-loop n-gluon scattering amplitude, A_n^{oneloop}(...--+++...), with split-h…
We compute shear viscosity and flavor diffusion coefficients for ultra-relativistic gauge theory with many fermionic species, Nf >> 1, to leading order in 1/Nf. The calculation is performed both at leading order in the effective coupling strength g^2 Nf, using the Hard Thermal Loop (HTL) approximation, and completely to all orders in g^2 Nf. This constitutes a nontrivial test of how well the HTL approximation works. We find that in this context, the HTL approximation works well wherever the renormalization point sensitivity of the leading order HTL result is small.
We report results for the lowest even-$N$ moments of the flavor-nonsinglet structure functions $F_2$ and $F_L$ in QCD at the fourth order in the perturbative expansion in the strong coupling constant $α_s$. Our results are presented in numerical form and we compare them with the leading and subleading terms of the threshold expansion for large values of $N$, which corresponds to the limit $x \to 1$.
The three renormalization-group-accessible three-loop coefficients of powers of logarithms within the \bar{MS} series momentum-space for the QCD static potential are calculated and compared to values obtained via asymptotic Padé-approximant methods. The leading and next-to-leading logarithmic coefficients are both found to be in exact agreement with their asymptotic Padé-predictions. The predicted value for the third RG-accessible coefficient is found to be within 7% relative |error| of its true value for n_f leq 6, and is shown to be in exact agreement with its true value in the n_f \to \inft…
The one loop effects of two dimension-six operators on gauge boson self energies are computed within an effective field theory framework. These self energies are translated into effects on precision electroweak observables, and bounds are obtained on the operator coefficients. The effective field theory framework allows for the divergences that arise in the loop calculations to be properly handled, and for unambiguous bounds on the coefficients to be obtained. We find that the coefficients are only weakly bounded, in contrast to previous calculations that obtained much stronger bounds. We argu…
We present new methods for the evaluation of one-loop tensor integrals which have been used in the calculation of the complete electroweak one-loop corrections to e+ e- -> 4 fermions. The described methods for 3-point and 4-point integrals are, in particular, applicable in the case where the conventional Passarino-Veltman reduction breaks down owing to the appearance of Gram determinants in the denominator. One method consists of different variants for expanding tensor coefficients about limits of vanishing Gram determinants or other kinematical determinants, thereby reducing all tensor coeffi…
The correlator of two gluonic operators plays an important role for example in transport properties of a Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) or in sum rules for glueballs. In [1] an operator product expansion (OPE) at zero temperature was performed for the correlators of two scalar operators $O_1=-\frac{1}{4} G^{μν}G_{μν}$ and two QCD energy-momentum tensors $T^{μν}$. There we presented analytical two-loop results for the Wilson coefficient $C_1$ in front of the gluon condensate operator $O_1$. In this paper these results are extended to three-loop order. The three-loop Wilson coefficient $C_0$ in front …
We calculate the leading nonperturbative contributions to the effective Wilson coefficient of the four-fermion operators arising from the QCD penguin, and we demonstrate how the usual perturbative one loop contribution is augmented by nonperturbative condensates. These corrections, which are obtained by quark and gluon condensate insertions into the quark loops, enter at the next-to-leading logarithm precision. Our results indicate for the charmed quark loop that the gluon condensate contribution is quite sensitive to the momentum transfer to the quark-antiquark pair.
We calculate the transport coefficients, drag and momentum diffusion, of a heavy quark in a thermalized plasma of light quarks in the background of Polyakov loop. Quark thermal mass and the gluon Debye mass are calculated in a non-trivial Polyakov loop background. The constituent quark masses and the Polyakov loop is estimated within a Polyakov loop quark meson (PQM) model. The relevant scattering amplitudes for heavy quark and light partons in the background of Polyakov loop has been estimated within the matrix model. We have also compared the results with the Polyakov loop parameter estimate…
We discuss recent results on the three-loop (next-to-next-to-leading order, NNLO) time-like splitting functions of QCD and the two-loop (NNLO) coefficient functions in one-particle inclusive e+e- annihilation. These results form the basis for extracting fragmentation functions for light and heavy flavors with NNLO accuracy that will be needed at the LHC and ILC. The two-loop calculations have been performed in Mellin space based on a new method, the main features of which we also describe briefly.
In the context of constructing one-loop amplitudes using a unitarity bootstrap approach we discuss a general systematic procedure for obtaining the coefficients of the scalar bubble and triangle integral functions of one-loop amplitudes. Coefficients are extracted after examining the behaviour of the cut integrand as the unconstrained parameters of a specifically chosen parametersiation of the cut loop momentum approach infinity.
In this paper we study the semileptonic decay $B\toπl ν$ and in particular the factorizable contribution to symmetry breaking corrections to the form factors at large recoil. This contribution is a convolution of the coefficient function, which can be calculated in perturbation theory, and of the nonperturbative light-cone distribution amplitudes of the mesons. The coefficient function, in turn, can also be represented as convolution of the hard Wilson coefficient and of the jet function. Loop corrections to the hard Wilson coefficient and jet function are calculated. We use the method of expa…
We present the coefficient of the chromomagnetic interaction operator, the only unknown coefficient in the Heavy Quark Effective Theory (HQET) lagrangian up to the $1/m$ level, with the two-loop accuracy by matching scattering amplitudes of an on-shell heavy quark in an external field in full QCD and HQET, and obtain the two-loop anomalous dimension of this operator in HQET.
This letter presents results for the two-loop matching coefficients for the dimension eight operators that contribute to Higgs production via gluon fusion. The coefficients can be used to calculate the first correction to the infinite top mass limit to Higgs production with large transverse momentum at two loops. To date such processes have been studied at two loop order only in the leading term in the top mass expansion. These corrections become enhanced in processes with large final state invariant mass, typical of multijet processes.
We report about recent progress in computing four-loop massive correlators. The expansion of these correlators in the external momentum leads to vacuum integrals. The calculation of these vacuum integrals can be used to determine Taylor expansion coefficients of the vacuum polarization function and decoupling functions in perturbative Quantum chromodynamics. New results at four-loop order for the lowest Taylor expansion coefficient of the vacuum polarization function and for the decoupling relation are presented.
Starting from the general definition of a one-loop tensor N-point function, we use its Feynman parametrization to calculate the UV-divergent part of an arbitrary tensor coefficient in the framework of dimensional regularization. In contrast to existing recursion schemes, we are able to present a general analytic result in closed form that enables direct determination of the UV-divergent part of any one-loop tensor N-point coefficient independent from UV-divergent parts of other one-loop tensor N-point coefficients. Simplified formulas and explicit expressions are presented for A-, B-, C-, D-, …
We calculate the quark coefficient function Tq(x,xi) that enters the factorized amplitude for deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) at all order in a soft and collinear gluon approximation, focusing on the leading double logarithmic behavior in x +/- xi, where x +/- xi is the light cone momentum fraction of the incoming/outgoing quarks. We show that the dominant part of the known one loop result can be understood in an axial gauge as the result of a semi-eikonal approximation to the box diagram. We then derive an all order result for the leading contribution of the ladder diagrams and deduc…
In this paper we calculate at high-precision the Laurent expansions in e=(4-D)/2 of the 17 master integrals which appeared in the analytical calculation of 3-loop QED contribution to the electron g-2, using difference and differential equations. The coefficients of the expansions so obtained are in perfect agreement with all the analytical expressions already known. The values of coefficients not previously known will be used in the high-precision calculation of the 4-loop QED contribution to the electron g-2.
One-loop amplitudes may be expanded in a basis of scalar integrals multiplied by rational coefficients. We relate the coefficient of the one-point integral to the coefficients of higher-point integrals, by considering the effects of introducing an additional, unphysical propagator, subject to certain conditions.
We present an asymptotic Pade-approximant estimate for the four-loop coefficients within the linear combination of correlators entering the recently calculated decay rate of a CP-odd Higgs boson, with an assumed mass $m_A = 100 GeV$, into two gluons. All but one of these coefficients are shown to be determined for arbitrary $m_A$ from the known 3-loop-order rate by renormalization group methods. Asymptotic Pade-approximant estimates for these coefficients are all seen to be within 12% of their correct values. The four-loop term in the decay rate for $m_A = 100 GeV$ is estimated to be only 4.3%…
We evaluate the two-loop QCD diagrams contributing to the leading color coefficient of the heavy-quark pair production cross section in the gluon fusion channel. We obtain an analytic expression, which is valid for any value of the Mandelstam invariants s and t and of the heavy-quark mass m. Our findings agree with previous analytic results in the small-mass limit and with recent results for the coefficients of the IR poles.
We evaluate the static QCD potential to two--loop order. Compared to a previous calculation a sizable reduction of the two--loop coefficient $a_2$ is found.
We evaluate the one-loop corrections to the Wilson coefficient of the kinetic operator in the operator product expansion of the differential B -> X_c l nu decay rate. With a moderate cut on the lepton energy, the one-loop terms change the kinetic operator contributions to spectral moments by about 20%. This amounts to a small correction for leptonic and hadronic moments, except for those which vanish at the lowest order, where the effect can be sizable. Together with a two-loop calculation of the leading-power rate and an evaluation of the one-loop corrections to the Wilson coefficient of the …
One remaining problem of unitarity cut method for one-loop integral reduction is that tadpole coefficients can not be straightforward obtained through this way. In this paper, we reconsider the problem by applying differential operators over an auxiliary vector $R$. Using differential operators, we establish the corresponding differential equations for tadpole coefficients at the first step. Then using the tensor structure of tadpole coefficients, we transform the differential equations to the recurrence relations for undetermined tensor coefficients. These recurrence relations can be solved e…
We report on recent progress in the calculation of the 3-loop massive Wilson coefficients in deep-inelastic scattering at general values of $N$ for neutral and charged current reactions in the asymptotic region $Q^2 \gg m^2$. Four new out of eight massive operator matrix elements and Wilson coefficients have been obtained recently. We also discuss recent results on Feynman graphs containing two-massive fermion lines and present complete results for the bubble topologies for all processes.
We compute the three-loop QCD corrections to the decoupling constant for $α_s$ which relates the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model to Quantum Chromodynamics with five or six active flavours. The new results can be used to study the stability of $α_s$ evaluated at a high scale from the knowledge of its value at $M_Z$. We furthermore derive a low-energy theorem which allows the calculation of the coefficient function of the effective Higgs boson-gluon operator from the decoupling constant. This constitutes the first independent check of the matching coefficient to three loops.
A new method for the reduction of one-loop tensor 5-point integrals to related 4-point integrals is proposed. In contrast to the usual Passarino-Veltman reduction and other methods used in the literature, this reduction avoids the occurrence of inverse Gram determinants, which potentially cause severe numerical instabilities in practical calculations. Explicit results for the 5-point tensor coefficients are presented up to rank 4. The expressions for the reduction of the relevant 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-point tensor coefficients to scalar integrals are also included; apart from these standard integr…
Coefficient functions of the operator product expansion of correlators of HQET heavy--light quark currents are calculated up operators of dimension 4 up to to 3 loops.
We describe the calculation of the two--loop massive operator matrix elements with massive external fermions in QED. We investigate the factorization of the $O(α^2)$ initial state corrections to $e^+e^-$ annihilation into a virtual boson for large cms energies $s \gg m_e^2$ into massive operator matrix elements and the massless Wilson coefficients of the Drell-Yan process adapting the color coefficients to the case of QED, as proposed by Berends et. al. in Ref. [1]. Our calculations show explicitly that the representation proposed in Ref. [1] works at one-loop order and up to terms linear in $…
