We suggest to probe the pion light-cone distribution amplitude, applying a dispersion relation for the pion electromagnetic form factor. Instead of the standard dispersion relation, we use the equation between the spacelike form factor $F_π(Q^2)$ and the integrated modulus of the timelike form factor. For $F_π(Q^2)$, the QCD light-cone sum rule with a dominant twist-2 term is used. Adopting for the pion twist-2 distribution amplitude a certain combination of the first few Gegenbauer polynomials, it is possible to fit their coefficients $a_{2,4,6,...}$ (Gegenbauer moments) from this equation, employing the measured pion timelike form factor. For the exploratory fit we use the data of the BaBar collaboration. The results definitely exclude the asymptotic twist-2 distribution amplitude. Also the model with a single $a_2\neq 0$ is disfavoured by the fit. Considering the models with $a_{n>2}\neq 0$, we find that the fitted values of the second and fourth Gegenbauer moments cover the intervals $a_2 (1 \mbox{GeV}) = (0.22 - 0.33) $, $a_4 (1 \mbox{GeV}) = (0.12 - 0.25) $. The higher moments starting from $a_{8}$ are consistent with zero, albeit with large uncertainties. The spacelike pion form factor obtained in two different ways, from the dispersion relation and from the light-cone sum rule, agrees, within uncertainties, with the measurement by the Jefferson Lab $F_π$ collaboration.
We present an analysis of the existing constraints for the twist-2 light-cone pion wave function. We find that existing information on the pion wave function does not exclude the possibility that the pion wave function attains its asymptotic form. New bounds on the parameters of the pion wave function are presented.
The coupling constant of g_phi-pion-gamma decay is calculated using light cone QCD sum rules. A comparison of our result with the ones existing in the literature is presented.
The light-cone wave function of the pion is calculated within the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The result is used to derive the pion electromagnetic form factor, charge radius, structure function, pi-gamma transition form factor and distribution amplitude.
Light-cone sum rules have proved to be very useful in calculating hadronic matrix elements for exclusive processes. I present recent applications of this method to the pion electromagnetic form factor and to the form factors of $γ^* ρ\to π$ and $γ^*γ\to π^0$ transitions.
We calculate the "pi Sigma Lambda" and "pi Sigma Sigma" coupling constants in light cone QCD sum rules for the structure "sigma_{alpha beta} gamma_5 p^alpha q^beta". A comparison of our results on these coupling constants with prediction of the SU(3) symmetry is presented.
The couplings of pions with lowest three doublets (0^-,1^-), (0^+,1^+) and (1^+,2^+) of heavy mesons are studied with ligh cone QCD sum rules in the leading order of heavy quark effective theory. The ambiguity due to the presence of two distinct 1^+ states are solved.
We investigate restrictions on the hadronic contribution to the muon $(g-2)$ factor and to the pion electromagnetic formfactor from the analytical properties of the pion formfactor and the experimental data of the pion formfactor in the space-like [1] region. The values of the pion formfactor of [1] have been improved (see Table 1) and the values of the pion formfactor have been calculated at 20 additional points (see Table 2).
The couplings of pions with heavy baryons g_2 (Σ^*, Σ) and g_3(Σ^*, Λ) are studied with light-cone QCD sum rules in the leading order of heavy quark effective theory. Both sum rules are stable. Our results are g_2=(1.56\pm 0.3), g_3=(0.94\pm 0.06).
We compute the pion light-cone wave function and the pion quark distribution amplitude in the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. We use the Pauli-Villars regularization method and as a result the distribution amplitude satisfies proper normalization and crossing properties. In the chiral limit we obtain the simple results, namely phi_pi(x)=1 for the pion distribution amplitude, and <k_perp^2> = -M <ubar u> / f_pi^2 for the second moment of the pion light-cone wave function, where M is the constituent quark mass and f_pi is the pion decay constant. After the QCD Gegenbauer evolution of the pion distribu…
We present a combined analysis of the space- and time-like electromagnetic pion form factors in light-cone perturbative QCD with transverse momentum dependence and Sudakov suppression. Including the non-perturbative ``soft' QCD and power suppressed twist-3 corrections to the standard twist-2 perturbative QCD result, the experimental pion data available at moderate energies/momentum transfers can be explained reasonably well. This may help towards resolving the bulk of the existing discrepancy between the space- and time-like experimental data.
We calculate the two-pion light-cone distribution amplitudes in the effective low-energy theory based on the instanton vacuum. These generalized distribution amplitudes describe the soft (non-perturbative) part of the process $γ^*γ\to ππ$ in the region where the c.m. energy is much smaller than the photon virtuality. They can also be used in the analysis of exclusive processes such as $γ^* p \to p + 2π, 3π$ etc.
We use the simple instanton motivated NJL-type model to calculate the leading twist pion light cone wave function. The model consists in employing the momentum dependent quark mass in the quark loop entering the definition of the wave function. The result is analytical up to a solution of a certain algebraic equation. Various properties including the kT dependence of the pion wave function are discussed. The resulting kT integrated wave function is not asymptotic and is in agreement with recent analysis of the CLEO data.
A method for calculating the pion structure function directly in terms of light-cone wave functions is suggested. Taking twist-2 and twist-4 pion light-cone wave functions into account, it is shown that the QCD sum rule prediction is in agreement with quark distribution obtained from analysis of the Drell-Yan process. Twist-4 quark-gluon light-cone wave functions give a large positive contribution to the pion structure function for x_B<0.2. A new constraint on the twist-2 pion light-cone wave function is obtained. We argue that the leading twist pion wave function ϕ_π(u) \simeq 1 for u=0.3 wit…
We study the quark Wigner distributions of the pion meson which are the phase-space distributions containing the most general one-parton information.Using the pion wavefunctions deduced from a light-cone quark model, we calculate the Wigner distributions of the unpolarized, longitudinally polarized and transversely polarized quarks inside the pion meson via the Fock-state overlap representation, respectively. We present the numerical results of the transverse Wigner distributions in which the longitudinal momentum fraction is integrated out. The mixed Wigner distributions as functions of $b_y$ …
We extract constraints on the pion distribution amplitude from available data on the pion-photon transition form factor in the framework of light-cone sum rules. A pronounced discrepancy $(2.7-3)σ$ between the Gegenbauer expansion coefficients extracted from the CELLO, CLEO, and Belle experimental data relative to those from BaBar is found. Predictions for the pion-photon transition form factor are presented by employing a pion distribution amplitude obtained long ago from QCD sum rules with nonlocal condensates. These predictions comply with the Belle data but disagree with those of BaBar bey…
This work studies the experiments of two-photon processes at BESIII from a theoretical viewpoint in light-cone quantum field theory. We adopt the momentum space wave function of the pion in the light-cone formalism by two forms of the Brodsky-Huang-Lepage~(BHL) prescription and the light-cone holographic QCD. We find that the wave function got by the light-cone holographic QCD can be related to the BHL wave function by a Jacobian factor. Then we calculate the transition form factor~(TFF) of the two-photon process by these two wave functions under the light-cone quark model. We compare the calc…
The pion cloud renormalises the light-cone wavefunction of the nucleon which is measured in hard, exclusive photon-nucleon reactions. We discuss the leading twist contributions to high-energy exclusive reactions taking into account both the pion cloud and perturbative QCD physics. The nucleon's electromagnetic form-factor at high $Q^2$ is proportional to the bare nucleon probability $Z$ and the cross-sections for hard (real at large angle or deeply virtual) Compton scattering are proportional to $Z^2$. Our present knowledge of the pion-nucleon system is consistent with $Z = 0.7 \pm 0.2$. If we…
The NJL model is formulated on the light cone. Using the 1/N expansion to solve the fermionic constraint, an effective 4-fermi lagrangian is derived. Pionic properties are investigated using this lagrangian, and the formal equivalence to the equal-time formulation is demonstrated. Two regularization schemes in terms of light-cone variables are discussed: An extension of the 'invariant mass cut-off scheme', and a transverse momentum cut-off scheme. It is shown that the first one is equivalent to the covariant 3-momentum cut-off (dispersion cut-off) scheme in the equal-time formulation. As an ap…
The effective interaction between a quark and an anti-quark as obtained previously with by the method of iterated resolvents is replaced by the up-down-model and applied to flavor off-diagonal mesons including the positive pion. The only free parameters are the canonical ones, the coupling constant and the masses of the quarks.
We investigate the tomographical structure of pion and kaon in light cone quark model (LCQM). In particular, we study the parton distribution amplitude (PDA) of pion and kaon. We obtain the parton distribution function (PDF) and the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) of the pion and kaon. The valence quark PDA and PDF of pion, after QCD evolution, are found to be consistent with the data from the E791 and the E615 experiments at Fermilab, respectively. Further, we investigate the transverse momentum distributions (TMDs) of pion and kaon. We also discuss the unpolarized TMD evolution for p…
We study the correlation between the quark spin and orbital angular momentum inside the pion meson. Similar to the case inside the nucleon, the longitudinal spin-orbit correlation $C_z^{q/π}$ in pion meson can be expressed in terms of the corresponding generalized parton distributions (GPDs) and generalized transverse momentum distributions (GTMDs). This provides new information about the spin structure of the pion. Using the wavefunctions of the pion in the light-cone quark model and the overlap representation for GPDs and GTMDs, we present the analytical results for the quark longitudinal sp…
The Kroll-Lee-Zumino renormalizable Abelian quantum field theory of pionic strong interactions is used to compute the rho-meson propagator at the two-loop level.
The light-front approach is applied to calculate the electromagnetic current for quark-antiquark bound states for the pion. The pion electromagnetic form factor is obtnaide from the "+" and "-" components of the electromagnetic current in the Drell-Yan frame, with different models of the pi-q\bar{q} vertex and the results for the pion electromagnetic form factor are compared with the experimental data up to 10 [GeV/c]^2 and anothers hadronic models. The rotational symmetry propreties of the pion electromagnetic current related with the zero-modes in the light-front are investigate.
The electromagnetic form factor of the pion is calculated in a pseudoscalar field theoretical model which constituent quarks. We extract the form factor using the "+" component of the electromagnetic current in the light-cone formalism. For comparison, we also compute the form factor in the covariant framework and we obtain perfect agreement. It is shown that the pair terms do not contribute in this pseudoscalar model. This explains why a naive light-cone calculation, i.e., omitting pair terms from the onset, also yields the same results.
We calculate the light-cone wavefunctions of the pion by solving the meson boundstate problem in a coarse transverse lattice gauge theory using DLCQ. A large-N_c approximation is made and the light-cone Hamiltonian expanded in massive dynamical fields at fixed lattice spacing. In contrast to earlier calculations, we include contributions from states containing many gluonic link-fields between the quarks. The Hamiltonian is renormalised by a combination of covariance conditions on boundstates and fitting the physical masses M_rho and M_pi, decay constant f_pi, and the string tension sigma. Good …
We discuss a relation between the light-front quark model and QCD. We argue that this model can be used for an evaluation of the light-cone wave functions for moderate values of "u", but that it is inapplicable for this purpose in the region near the ends points u=0,1. We find additional support for a recent analysis in which it was claimed that the twist-two pion wave function attains its asymptotic form. The asymptotic twist-four two-particle wave function is also in good agreement with the light-front quark model.
The electromagnetic form factor of the eta meson is studied using the Light Cone QCD sum rules approach taking in to account higher twists contributions and SU(3) flavor symmetry breaking effects.
The leading-twist wave functions of the pion and the photon at a low normalization point are calculated in the effective low--energy theory derived from the instanton vacuum. The pion wave function is found to be close to the asymptotic one, consistent with the recent CLEO measurements. The photon wave function is non-zero at the endpoints. This different behavior is a consequence of the momentum dependence of the dynamical quark mass suggested by the instanton vacuum. We comment on the relation of meson wave functions and off-forward parton distributions in this model.
We analyze the higher-twist effects and the SU(3)-flavour symmetry breaking in the correlation functions used to calculate form factors of pseudoscalar mesons in the QCD light-cone sum rule approach. It is shown that the Ward identities for these correlation functions yield relations between twist-4 two- and three-particle distribution amplitudes. In addition to the relations already obtained from the QCD equations of motions, we have found a new one. With the help of these relations, the twist-4 contribution to the light-cone sum rule for the pion electromagnetic form factor is reduced to a v…
Light-cone QCD sum rules are employed to compute the strong coupling constants: g_{B^* B^* pi}, g_{B_1 B_0 pi} and g_{B_1 B^* pi}, where (B,B^*) and (B_0,B_1) are negative and positive parity (0^-,1^-) and (0^+,1^+) \bar qQ doublets. The couplings are calculated both for finite values of the heavy quark mass and in the infinite heavy quark mass limit, deriving sum rules for m_Q \to \infty.
We derive the lowest-order $q\bar q$ valence light-front wave function for the pion with Lz=0 and |Lz|=1, which reproduces its valence parton distribution and the electromagnetic form factor consistent with data.
The holographic QCD prediction for the pion distribution amplitude (DA) $ϕ_{hol}(u)$ is used to compute the pion spacelike electromagnetic form factor $F_π(Q^2)$ within the QCD light-cone sum rule method. In calculations the pion's renormalon-based model twist-4 DA, as well as the asymptotic twist-4 DA are employed. Obtained theoretical predictions are compared with experimental data and with results of the holographic QCD.
Recently, LHCb Collaboration announced the discovery of radial excitations of $D_s$ and $B_s$ mesons. In present work, we calculate the most promising strong and electromagnetic decay widths of radially excited $D_s(2S)$ and $B_s(2S)$ mesons within the light cone QCD sum rules method.
The renormalization of the effective QCD-Hamiltonian theory for the quark-antiquark channel is performed in terms of a renormalized or fixed-point Hamiltonian that leads to subtracted dynamical equations. The fixed point-Hamiltonian brings the renormalization conditions as well as the counterterms that render the theory finite. The approach is renormalization group invariant. The parameters of the renormalized effective QCD-Hamiltonian comes from the pion mass and radius, for a given constituent quark mass. The 1s and excited 2s states of $\bar u q$ are calculated as a function of the mass of …
New precise experimental information on $σ_{tot}(e^+e^- \to π^+ π^-)$ is transferred into the space-like region, by taking advantage of the analyticity. As a result a rigorous pion electromagnetic form factor behavior is obtained. The latter with some existing model predictions is compared.
The electromagnetic corrections to the low energy scattering amplitude involving charged pions only are investigated at leading and next-to-leading orders in the two-flavour chiral expansion. As an application, the corresponding variation in the strong $2S-2P$ level shift is evaluated. The relative variation is of the order of 5%.
Light cone QCD sum rules for the electromagnetic transition form factors among positive and negative parity octet baryons are derived. The unwanted contributions of the diagonal transitions among positive parity octet baryons are eliminated by combining the sum rules derived from different Lorentz structures. The $Q^2$ dependence for the transversal and longitudinal helicity amplitudes are studied.
By use of single instanton approximation the twist-3 light-cone distribution amplitudes of pion as well as the p-wave mesons, i.e., $f_{0}(1370)$, $K_{0}^{\ast}(1430)$ and $a_{0}(1450)$ are investigated within the framework of QCD moment sum rules with inclusion of instanton effects based on the valence quark model. Results show that there is much change on light-cone distribution amplitudes by the isospin- and chirality-dependent instanton contribution compared with the instanton-free ones. We find the intanton involved twist-3 LCDAs are non-positive-definite within some range of momentum fra…
The couplings and decay widths of the proceses (1^+,2^+)->(0^-,1^-)+rho are studied with ligh-cone QCD sum rules in the leading order of heavy quark effective theory. These processes are employed to estimate the two pion transition widths of the (1^+,2^+) doublet through the low mass tail of the rho resonance. Our calculation shows that the two pion decay widths are much smaller than the single pion decay widths. However, B_1 and B_2^* mesons should also have significant two pion decay widths around 1.5 MeV.
We present an improved analysis of the constraints on the first two Gegenbauer moments, $a^π_2$ and $a^π_4$, of the pion's leading-twist distribution amplitude from a QCD light-cone sum rule analysis of $B\toπ$ weak transition form factor $f_{+}(q^2)$. Proper chiral current is adopted in QCD light-cone sum rule so as to eliminate the most uncertain twist-3 contributions to $f_{+}(q^2)$, and then we concentrate our attention on the properties of the leading-twist pion DA. A nearly model-independent $f_+(q^2)$ as shown in Ref.\cite{pball0} that is based on the spectrum of $B\toπlν$ decays from B…
A constituent quark model is developed for an arbitrary light- cone direction ω. Form factors are obtained from free one-body electromagnetic current matrix elements. They are found to be ω- independent for spin-0 mesons, the nucleon and Λhyperon, while there is ω-dependence for spin-1 systems like the deuteron.
We present recent results on finite temperature electromagnetic form factors and the electrical conductivity in a pion gas. The standard Chiral Perturbation Theory power counting needs to be modified for transport coefficients. We pay special attention to unitarity and to possible applications for dilepton and photon production.
The pion electromagnetic form factor is calculated within the QCD light-cone sum rule method and using a renormalon model for the higher twist distribution amplitudes (DAs). The theoretical predictions are compared with the experimental data and constraints on the pion leading and twist-4 DAs are extracted. An upper bound on the twist-4 contribution to the form factor and estimates of effects due to higher conformal spins in the pion twist-4 DAs are obtained.
We have calculated the 3-point correlation function for the electromagnetic interaction of the pion in an ensembles of instantons and anti-instantons, modelling the QCD vacuum. The results are well described by a pion pole and the pion formfactor is extracted, nicely following a standard monopole fit. The experimental data on the formfactor are well reproduced, provided an average instanton size is fixed at ${\barρ}=0.35\pm 0.03\fm$, the same as found for a variety of other correlation functions and was found on the lattice.
By employing vector meson dominance to establish the electromagnetic interactions of hadrons, the electromagnetic self-energy of the neutral pions, which receives the contributions from the vector resonances due to chiral anomaly, is evaluated. This part of the electromagentic mass, which can contribute to the mass difference of $π^\pm-π^0$, is finite and as expected, is smaller than the contributions due to isospin symmetry breaking and electromagnetic chiral logs corrections, however, could be compared with the contribution from the short distance QCD.
Having calculated the light-cone wave function of the pseudoscalar meson by using two equivalent and fully covariant methods, we generalize such methods to the valence Fock states of the vector meson in the light-cone formalism. We investigate the decay constant of the $ρ$ meson $f_ρ$, the $γ^{\ast} π\to ρ$ and $γ^* ρ\to π$ transition form factors and especially the transition magnetic moments. By using two groups of constraint parameters, we predict the space-like and time-like form factors $F_{πρ}(Q^2)$ and $F_{ρπ}(Q^2)$ at low and moderate energy scale and the electromagnetic radius of thes…
We calculate the matrix elements of the gluonic contributions to the energy-momentum tensor for a pion of mass 600 < Mpi < 1100 MeV in quenched lattice QCD. We find that gluons contribute (37 +/- 8 +/- 12)% of the pion's light cone momentum. The bare matrix elements corresponding to the trace anomaly contribution to the pion mass are also obtained. The discretizations of the energy-momentum tensor we use have other promising applications, ranging from calculating the origin of hadron spin to QCD thermodynamics.
We use the Cottingham method to calculate the pion and kaon electromagnetic mass differences with as few model dependent inputs as possible. The constraints of chiral symmetry at low energy, QCD at high energy and experimental data in between are used in the dispersion relation. We find excellent agreement with experiment for the pion mass difference. The kaon mass difference exhibits a strong violation of the lowest order prediction of Dashen's theorem, in qualitative agreement with several other recent calculations.
The pion electromagnetic form factor F_π(Q^{2}) is calculated at the leading order of pQCD using the running coupling constant (α_{S}(Q^{2}(1-x)(1-y))) approach. The resummed expression for F_π(Q^{2}) is found. It is shown that the effect of the infrared renormalons can be taken into account by scale-setting procedure $α_{S}(Q^{2}) \rightarrow α_{S}(e^{f(Q^{2})}Q^{2})$ in the leading order expression
This article on light cone field theory reviews the basic concepts of the Poincare group in light cone quantum mechanics and light cone field theory. It discusses recent progress in light cone representations of the Bethe-Salpeter equation, with application to the pion form factor, and the quark Schwinger-Dyson equation. Applications are discussed for deeply virtual Compton scattering, particularly for skewed parton distributions of the pion, and rare B to lepton pair decays. Meson light cone wave functions and recent experimental studies of light cone wave functions are discussed. This review…
We investigate the electromagnetic form factors of the (rho) meson in light cone QCD sum rules. We find that the ratio of the magnetic and charge form factors is larger than two at all values of Q^2, (Q^2 >= 0.5 GeV^2). The values of the individual form factors at fixed values of Q^2 predicted by the light cone QCD sum rules are quite different compared to the results of other approaches. These results can be checked in future, when more precise data on (rho) meson form factors is available.
