We perform extensive classifications of $\mathbb{Z}_2$ quantum spin liquids on the simple cubic, body centered cubic, and face centered cubic lattices using a spin-rotation invariant fermionic projective symmetry group approach. Taking into account that all three lattices share the same point group $O_h$, we apply an efficient gauge where the classification for the simple cubic lattice can be partially carried over to the other two lattices. We identify hundreds of projective representations for each of the three lattices, however, when constructing short-range mean-field models for the fermionic partons (spinons) these phases collapse to only very few relevant cases. We self-consistently calculate the corresponding mean-field parameters for frustrated Heisenberg models on all three lattices with up to third neighbor spin interactions and discuss the spinon dispersions, ground state energies and dynamical spin structure factors. Our results indicate that phases with non-uniform spinon hopping or pairing amplitudes are energetically favored. An unusual situation is identified for the fcc lattice where the spinon dispersion minimizing the mean-field energy features a network of symmetry protected line-like zero modes in reciprocal space. We further discuss characteristic fingerprints of these phases in the dynamical spin structure factor which may help to identify and distinguish them in future numerical or experimental studies.
Magnetic properties of spin $\frac 12$ $J_1-J_2$ Heisenberg antiferromagnet on body centered cubic lattice are investigated. By using two-time temperature Green's functions, sublattice magnetization and critical temperature depending on the frustration ratio $p=J_2/J_1$ are obtained in both stripe and Néel phase. The analysis of ground state sublattice magnetization and phase diagram indicates the critical end point at $J_2/J_1 =0.714$, in agreement with previous studies.
Neutron scattering experiment on NiS2 single crystal revealed a honeycomb pattern of the intensity distribution in reciprocal lattice space (continuous-line structure along the fcc zone boundary) providing the first direct evidence for nearly frustrated antiferromagnetism (AF) on the face centered cubic (fcc) lattice. A small but finite lattice distortion below 30.9 K lifts the degeneracy of the magnetic ground state due to the frustration and eventually result in the coexistence of the type I and the type II AF long range orderings, which are mutually incompatible in the fcc symmetry at highe…
Using exact diagonalization (ED) and linear spin wave theory (LSWT) we study the influence of frustration and quantum fluctuations on the magnetic ordering in the ground state of the spin-1/2 J1-J2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet (J1-J2 model) on the body-centered cubic (bcc) lattice. Contrary to the J1-J2 model on the square lattice, we find for the bcc lattice that frustration and quantum fluctuations do not lead to a quantum disordered phase for strong frustration. The results of both approaches (ED, LSWT) suggest a first order transition at J2/J1 $\approx$ 0.7 from the two-sublattice Neel phase…
We study the half-filled Hubbard model on the geometrically frustrated face centered cubic (FCC) lattice, using an auxiliary field based real space technique. The low temperature state is a paramagnetic metal at weak interaction, an antiferromagnetic insulator (AFI) with flux like order at intermediate interaction, and an AFI with `C type' order at very strong interaction. Remarkably, there is a narrow window between the paramagnetic metal and the AFI where the system exhibits spin glass behaviour arising from the presence of disordered but `frozen' local moments. The spin glass state is metal…
We investigate the spin $S=1/2$ Heisenberg model on the body centered cubic lattice in the presence of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic nearest-neighbor $J_{1}$, second-neighbor $J_{2}$, and third-neighbor $J_{3}$ exchange interactions. The classical ground state phase diagram obtained by a Luttinger-Tisza analysis is shown to host six different (noncollinear) helimagnetic orders in addition to ferromagnetic, Néel, stripe and planar antiferromagnetic orders. Employing the pseudofermion functional renormalization group (PFFRG) method for quantum spins ($S=1/2$) we find an extended nonmagneti…
We present a detailed study of the ground state phase diagram of the classical frustrated Heisenberg model on the face-centered-cubic lattice. By considering exchange interactions up till third nearest neighbors, we find commensurate, helimagnetic, as well as noncollinear multi-{\bf Q} orders which include noncoplanar and chiral spin structures. We reveal the presence of subextensively degenerate manifolds that appear at triple points and certain phase boundaries in the phase diagram. Within these manifolds, the spin Hamiltonian can be recast as a complete square of spins on finite motifs, per…
At zero temperature the sublattice magnetization of the quantum spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on a body-centered cubic lattice with competing first and second neighbor exchange (J1 and J2) is investigated using the non-linear spin wave theory. The zero temperature phases of the model consist of a two sublattice Néel phase for small J_2 (AF_1) and a collinear phase at large J_2 (AF_2). We show that quartic corrections due to spin-wave interactions enhance the sublattice magnetization in both the AF_1 and the AF_2 phase. The magnetization corrections are prominent near the classical transi…
Quantum Monte Carlo Simulation of Bipolaron Superconductivity in Extended Hubbard--Holstein models on Face-Centered-Cubic and Body-Centered-Cubic Lattices
We discuss the role of quantum fluctuations in Heisenberg antiferromagnets on face-centered cubic lattice with small dipolar interaction in which the next-nearest-neighbor exchange coupling dominates over the nearest-neighbor one. It is well known that a collinear magnetic structure which contains (111) ferromagnetic planes arranged antiferromagnetically along one of the space diagonals of the cube is stabilized in this model via order-by-disorder mechanism. On the mean-field level, the dipolar interaction forces spins to lie within (111) planes. By considering 1/S - corrections to the ground …
The $J_1$--$J_2$ Heisenberg model is a "canonical" model in the field of quantum magnetism in order to study the interplay between frustration and quantum fluctuations as well as quantum phase transitions driven by frustration. Here we apply the Coupled Cluster Method (CCM) to study the spin-half $J_1$--$J_2$ model with antiferromagnetic nearest-neighbor bonds $J_1 >0$ and next-nearest-neighbor bonds $J_2 >0$ for the simple cubic (SC) and body-centered cubic (BCC) lattices. In particular, we wish to study the ground-state ordering of these systems as a function of the frustration parameter $p=…
All van Hove singularities in the density of states (DOS) of face-centered cubic lattice in the nearest and next-nearest neighbour approximation, focusing on higher-order ones, are found and classified. At special values of the ratio $τ$ of nearest and next-nearest neighbour hopping integrals, $t$ and $t'$, giant DOS singularities, caused by van Hove lines or surfaces, are formed. An exact formula for DOS which provides efficient numerical implementation is proposed. The standard tetrahedron method is demonstrated to be inapplicable due to its poor convergence in the vicinity of kinks caused b…
In 5$d^2$ Mott insulators with strong spin-orbit coupling, the lowest pseudospin states form a non-Kramers doublet, which carries quadrupolar and octupolar moments. A family of double perovskites where magnetic ions form a face-centered cubic (fcc) lattice was suggested to unveil an octupolar order offering a rare example in $d$-orbital systems. The proposed order requires a ferromagnetic (FM) octupolar interaction, since the antiferromagnetic (AFM) Ising model is highly frustrated on the fcc lattice. A microscopic model was recently derived for various lattices: for an edge-sharing octahedra …
We investigate formation and condensation of fermion pairs in cold-atom quantum simulators for extended Hubbard models ($UV$ models) with body-centered-cubic (BCC) optical lattices in the dilute limit, predicting small and light pairs. Pair mass, radius, and binding conditions are calculated, and used to compute transition temperatures. We predict that: (a) local pairs form in BCC optical lattices and binding energies can be large; (b) for particular cases where onsite $U$ and intersite $V$ are attractive with similar size, pairs are both small and light; and (c) pairs of $^6$Li atoms Bose--Ei…

We examine the topological order in the resonating singlet valence plaquette (RSVP) phase of the hard-core quantum plaquette model (QPM) on the face centered cubic (FCC) lattice. To do this, we construct a Rohksar-Kivelson type Hamiltonian of local plaquette resonances. This model is shown to exhibit a $\mathbb{Z}_3$ topological order, which we show by identifying a $\mathbb{Z}_3$ topological constant (which leads to a $3^3$-fold topological ground state degeneracy on the $3$-torus) and topological point-like charge and loop-like magnetic excitations which obey $\mathbb{Z}_3$ statistics. We al…
The low-temperature series for the free energy density, pressure, magnetization and susceptibility of cubic ideal ferromagnets in weak external magnetic fields are discussed within the effective Lagrangian framework up to three loops. The structure of the simple, body-centered, and face-centered cubic lattice is taken into account explicitly. The expansion involves integer and half-integer powers of the temperature. The corresponding coefficients depend on the magnetic field and on low-energy effective constants that can be expressed in terms of microscopic quantities. Our formulas may also se…
