Open quantum systems and study of decoherence are important for our fundamental understanding of quantum physical phenomena. For practical purposes, there exists a large number of quantum protocols exploiting quantum resources, e.g. entanglement, which allows to go beyond what is possible to achieve by classical means. We combine concepts from open quantum systems and quantum information science, and give a proof-of-principle experimental demonstration -- with teleportation -- that it is possible to implement efficiently a quantum protocol via non-Markovian open system. The results show that, at the time of implementation of the protocol, it is not necessary to have the quantum resource in the degree of freedom used for the basic protocol -- as long as there exists some other degree of freedom, or environment of an open system, which contains useful resources. The experiment is based on a pair of photons, where their polarizations act as open system qubits and frequencies as their environments -- while the path degree of freedom of one of the photons represents the state of Alice's qubit to be teleported to Bob's polarization qubit.
The protocol of the teleportation of an arbitrary unknown one-qubit state is investigated when the quantum channel is subject to the decoherence from the non-Markovian environments with the memory effects. The quality of the teleportation measured by the average fidelity and minimal fidelity can be enhanced in the non-Markovian channel. The memory effects give rise to the revival of the fidelity which is better than that obtained by the Markovian channel.
We address the dynamics of quantum correlations in a two-qubit system subject to unbalanced random telegraph noise (RTN) and discuss in details the similarities and the differences with the balanced case. We also evaluate quantum non-Markovianity of the dynamical map. Finally, we discuss the effects of unbalanced RTN on teleportation, showing that noise imbalance mitigates decoherence and preserves teleportation fidelity.
Physicists are attracted to open-system dynamics, how quantum systems evolve, and how they can protected from unnecessary environmental noise, especially environmental memory effects are not negligible, as with non-Markovian approximations. There are several methods to solve master equation of non-Markovian cases, we obtain the solutions of quantum-state-diffusion equation for a two qubit system using perturbation method, which under influence of various types of environmental noises, i.e., relaxation, dephasing and mix of them. We found that mixing these two types of noises benefit the quantu…
We present a computational circuit which realizes contextually the Tele-UNOT gate and the universal optimal quantum cloning machine (UOQCM). We report the experimental realization of the probabilistic UOQCM with polarization encoded qubits. This is achieved by combining on a symmetric beam-splitter the input qubit with an ancilla in a fully mixed state.
We report an experimental realization of both optimal asymmetric cloning and telecloning of single photons by making use of partial teleportation of an unknown state. In the experiment, we demonstrate that, conditioned on the success of partial teleportation of single photons, not only the optimal asymmetric cloning can be accomplished, but also one of two outputs can be transfered to a distant location, realizing the telecloning. The experimental results represent a novel way to achieve the quantum cloning and may have potential applications in the context of quantum communication.
The goal of teleportation is to transfer the state of one particle to another particle. In coined quantum walks, conditional shift operators can introduce entanglement between position space and coin space. This entanglement resource can be used as a quantum channel for teleportation, as proposed by Wang, Shang and Xue [Quantum Inf. Process. 16, 221 (2017)]. Here, we demonstrate the implementation of quantum teleportation using quantum walks on a five-qubit quantum computer and a 32-qubit simulator provided by IBM quantum experience beta platform. We show the teleportation of single-qubit, two…
By a significant modification of the standard protocol of quantum state Teleportation two processes ''forbidden'' by quantum mechanics in their exact form, the Universal NOT gate and the Universal Optimal Quantum Cloning Machine, have been implemented contextually and optimally by a fully linear method. In particular, the first experimental demonstration of the Tele-UNOT Gate, a novel quantum information protocol has been reported (cfr. quant-ph/0304070). A complete experimental realization of the protocol is presented here.
Here we demonstrate quantum teleportation through hypergraph states, which are the generalization of graph states, and due to their non-local entanglement properties, it allows us to perform quantum teleportation. Here we design some hypergraph states useful for quantum teleportation and process the schemes for quantum teleportation of single-qubit and two-qubit arbitrary states via three-uniform three-qubit and four-qubit hypergraph states respectively. We explicate the experimental realization of quantum teleportation of both single and two-qubit arbitrary states. Then we run our quantum cir…
Quantum teleportation and dynamics of quantum coherence and metrological non-classical correlations for open two-qubit systems: A study of Markovian and non-Markovian regimes
An experimentally realizable model based on the interaction between an excited two-level atom and a radiation field inside two quantum electrodynamics cavities is proposed. It consists of sending an excited two-level atom through two serial cavities which contain the radiation field. Hence, the Lindblad master equation described the reduced density matrix of the joint-joint field system inside the cavities is exactly solved in Markovian and non-Markovian regimes. However, the rate of entanglement inherent in the total field-field system are evaluated using various witnesses of entanglement suc…
We study the continuous-variable (CV) quantum teleportation protocol in the case that one of the two modes of the shared entangled resource is sent to the receiver through a Gaussian Quantum Brownian Motion noisy channel. We show that if the channel is engineered in a non-Markovian regime, the information backflow from the environment induces an extra dependance of the phase of the two-mode squeezing of the shared Gaussian entangled resource on the transit time along the channel of the shared mode sent to the receiver. Optimizing over the non-Markovianity dependent phase of the squeezing yield…
Seeking flexible methods to control quantum teleportation in open systems is an important task of quantum communication. In this paper, we study how the super-Ohmic, Ohmic and sub-Ohmic reservoirs affect teleportation of a general one-qubit state. The results revealed that the structures of the reservoirs play a decisive role on quality of teleportation. Particularly, the fidelity of teleportation may be improved by the strong backaction of the non-Markovian memory effects of the reservoir. The physical mechanism responsible for this improvement are determined.
Quantum teleportation allows to transfer unknown quantum states between distant parties. It is not only a primitive of quantum communications but also an essential task in realization of the quantum networks for promising applications such as quantum cryptography and distributed quantum computation. Despite recent substantial progresses in the realization of quantum communications, teleportation of shared quantum information between multiple senders and receivers is still missing. Here we propose and experimentally demonstrate quantum teleportation among spatially separate parties in a quantum…
We investigate the dynamics of quantum correlations (QC) under the effects of reservoir memory, as a resource for quantum information and computation tasks. Quantum correlations of two-qubit systems are used for implementing quantum teleportation successfully, and for investigating how teleportation fidelity, violation of Bell-CHSH inequality, quantum steering and entanglement are connected with each other under the influence of noisy environments. Both Markovian and non-Markovian channels are considered, and it is shown that the decay and revival of correlations follow the hierarchy of quantu…
In recent years, there has been heightened interest in quantum teleportation, which allows for the transfer of unknown quantum states over arbitrary distances. Quantum teleportation not only serves as an essential ingredient in long-distance quantum communication, but also provides enabling technologies for practical quantum computation. Of particular interest is the scheme proposed by Gottesman and Chuang [Nature \textbf{402}, 390 (1999)], showing that quantum gates can be implemented by teleporting qubits with the help of some special entangled states. Therefore, the construction of a quantu…
Quantum entanglement is a fundamental resource for quantum information processing and is widely used in quantum communication, quantum computation and quantum metrology. Early research on quantum entanglement mainly focus on qubit states, but in recent years, more and more research has begun to focus on high-dimensional entangled states. Compared with qubit entangled states, higher-dimensional entangled states have a larger information capacity and the potential to realize more complex quantum applications. In this Letter, we have experimentally prepared a special high-dimensional entangled st…
Quantum teleportation, a way to transfer the state of a quantum system from one location to another, is central to quantum communication and plays an important role in a number of quantum computation protocols. Previous experimental demonstrations have been implemented with photonic or ionic qubits. Very recently long-distance teleportation and open-destination teleportation have also been realized. Until now, previous experiments have only been able to teleport single qubits. However, since teleportation of single qubits is insufficient for a large-scale realization of quantum communication a…
In this contribution, we have investigated the bidirectional quantum teleportation (BQT) of single-qubit states using a Bell state influenced by decoherence channels with memory, dephasing and amplitude damping channels. The expressions of the negativity, as a measure of the entanglement remaining in the BQT quantum channel, the teleportation fidelities and the quantum Fisher information are also evaluated. We find that both these last quantities depend on the survival amount of entanglement in the BQT quantum channel, on the decoherence factor and on the correlation degree of the decoherence …
Recent experiments confirm that quantum teleportation is possible at least for states of photons and nuclear spins. The quantum teleportation is not only a curious effect but a fundamental protocol of quantum communication and quantum computing. The principles of the quantum teleportation and the entanglement swapping are explained, and physical realizations of teleportation of optical and atomic states are discussed.
An explicit scheme (quantum circuit) is designed for the teleportation of an $n$-qubit quantum state. It is established that the proposed scheme requires an optimal amount of quantum resources, whereas larger amount of quantum resources has been used in a large number of recently reported teleportation schemes for the quantum states which can be viewed as special cases of the general $n$-qubit state considered here. A trade off between our knowledge about the quantum state to be teleported and the amount of quantum resources required for the same is observed. A proof of principle experimental …
A set of protocols for atomic quantum state teleportation and swapping utilizing Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen light is proposed. The protocols are suitable for collective spin states of a macroscopic sample of atoms, i.e. for continuous atomic variables. Feasibility of experimental realization for teleportation of a gas sample of atoms is analyzed.
Transferring the state of an information carrier from a sender to a receiver is an essential primitive in both classical and quantum communication and information processing. In a quantum process known as teleportation the unknown state of a quantum bit can be relayed to a distant party using shared entanglement and classical information. Here we present experiments in a solid-state system based on superconducting quantum circuits demonstrating the teleportation of the state of a qubit at the macroscopic scale. In our experiments teleportation is realized deterministically with high efficiency…
We show that perfect quantum teleportation can be achieved with mixed photon polarization states when nonlocal memory effects influence the dynamics of the quantum system. The protocol is carried out with a pair of photons, whose initial maximally entangled state is destroyed by local decoherence prior to teleportation. It is demonstrated that the presence of strong nonlocal memory effects, which arise from initial correlations between the environments of the photons, allow to restore perfect teleportation. We further analyze how the amount of initial correlations within the environment affect…
We discuss here the best disentanglement processes of states of two two-level systems which belong to (i) the universal set, (ii) the set in which the states of one party lie on a single great circle of the Bloch sphere, and (iii) the set in which the states of one party commute with each other, by teleporting the states of one party (on which the disentangling machine is acting) through three particular type of separable channels, each of which is a mixture of Bell states. In the general scenario, by teleporting one party's state of an arbitrary entangled state of two two-level parties throug…
In this paper we propose a scheme to implement a quantum teleportation based on the current experimental design [Nature (London) 431, 162 (2004); ibid 445, 515 (2007)] in which superconducting charge qubits are capacitively coupled to a single high-Q superconducting coplanar resonator. As advantage of this architecture, it permits the use of multiqubit gates between non-nearest qubits and the realization of parallel gates. We consider the case of two qubits inside the resonator, where the teleportation is accomplished.
In this article we discuss a scheme of teleportation of atomic states. The experimental realization proposed makes use of cavity Quatum Electrodynamics involving the interaction of Rydberg atoms with a micromaser cavity prepared in a coherent state. We start presenting a scheme to prepare atomic Bell states via the interaction of atoms with a cavity. In our scheme the cavity and some atoms play the role of auxiliary systems used to achieve the teleportation.
We propose a scheme for teleporting an atomic center-of-mass wave function between distant locations. The scheme uses interactions in cavity quantum electrodynamics to facilitate a coupling between the motion of an atom trapped inside a cavity and external propagating light fields. This enables the distribution of quantum entanglement and the realization of the required motional Bell-state analysis.
A generalization of the quantum XOR-gate is presented which operates in arbitrary dimensional Hilbert spaces. Together with one-particle Fourier transforms this gate is capable of performing a variety of tasks which are important for quantum information processing in arbitrary dimensional Hilbert spaces. Among these tasks are the preparation of Bell states, quantum teleportation and quantum state purification. A physical realization of this generalized XOR-gate is proposed which is based on non-linear optical elements.
Optimal quantum machines can be implemented by linear projective operations. In the present work a general qubit symmetrization theory is presented by investigating the close links to the qubit purification process and to the programmable teleportation of any generic optimal anti-unitary map. In addition, the contextual realization of the N ->M cloning map and of the teleportation of the N->(M-N) universal NOT gate is analyzed by a novel and very general angular momentum theory. An extended set of experimental realizations by state symmetrization linear optical procedures is reported. These in…
We report on a quantum optical experimental implementation of teleportation of unknown pure quantum states. This realizes all the nonlocal aspects of the original scheme proposed by Bennett et al. and is equivalent to it up to a local operation. We exhibit results for the teleportation of a linearly polarized state and of an elliptically polarized state. We show that the experimental results cannot be explained in terms of a classical channel alone.
We report the experimental realization of the ''active'' quantum teleportation (QST) of a one-particle entangled qubit. This demonstration completes the original QST protocol and renders it available for actual implementation in quantum computation networks. It is accomplished by implementing a 8m optical delay line and a single-photon triggered fast Electro-Optic Pockels cell. A large value of teleportation ''fidelity'' was attained: F = (90 +/- 2)%. Our work follows the line recently suggested by H. W. Lee and J. Kim, Phys. Rev. A 63, 012305 (2000) and E.Knill, R.Laflamme and G.Milburn Natur…
We report the experimental realization of teleporting an entangled qubit. The qubit is physically implemented by a two-dimensional subspace of states of a mode of the electromagnetic field, specifically, the space spanned by the vacuum and the one photon state. Our experiment follows along lines suggested by H. W. Lee and J. Kim, Phys. Rev. A, 63, 012305 (2000) and E.Knill, R.Laflamme and G.Milburn Nature 409: 46 (2001).
The study of open quantum systems is important for fundamental issues of quantum physics as well as for technological applications such as quantum information processing. Recent developments in this field have increased our basic understanding on how non-Markovian effects influence the dynamics of an open quantum system, paving the way to exploit memory effects for various quantum control tasks. Most often, the environment of an open system is thought to act as a sink for the system information. However, here we demonstrate experimentally that a photonic open system can exploit the information…
Recently, de Visser and Blaauboer [Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 96}, 246801 (2006)] proposed the most efficient deterministic teleportation protocol $\cal T$ for electron spins in a semiconductor nanostructure consisting of a single and a double quantum dot. However, it is as yet unknown if $\cal T$ can be completed before decoherence sets in. In this paper we analyze the detrimental effect of nuclear spin baths, the main source of decoherence, on $\cal T$. We show that nonclassical teleportation fidelity can be achieved with $\cal T$ provided certain conditions are met. Our study indicates that real…
Experimental realizations of QT have so far been limited to teleportation of light. The present communication gives a new experimental scheme for QT of heavy matter. We show that the standard experimental technique used in nuclear physics may be successfully applied to teleportation of spin states of atomic nuclei. It was shown that there are no theoretical prohibitions upon a possibility of a complete Bell measurement, so that implementation of all four quantum communication channels is at least theoretically available. A general expression for scattering amplitude of two 1/2-spin particles w…
In this work we have proposed a scheme for generating $N$ qubit entangled states which can teleport an unknown state perfectly. By switching on the exchange interaction ($J$) between the qubits one can get the desired states periodically. A multi electron quantum dot can be a possible realization for generating such $N$ qubit states with high fidelity. In the limit of $N \to \infty$, there exists a unique time $t=\frac{1}{J}\cos^{-1}(-1/8)$ where the Hamiltonian dynamics gives the $N$ qubit state that can assist perfect teleportation. We have also discussed the effect of the nuclear spin envir…
We present a general dilation scheme for quantum instruments with continuous outcome space in finite dimensions, in terms of an indirect POVM measurement performed on a finite dimensional ancilla. The general result is then applied to a large class of instruments generated by operator frames, which contains group-covariant instruments as a particular case, and allows to construct dilation schemes based on a measurement on the ancilla followed by a conditional feed-forward operation on the output. In the case of tight operator frames our construction generalizes quantum teleportation and telecl…
Unknown quantum pure states of arbitrary but definite S-level of a particle can be transferred onto a group of remote two-level particles through two-level EPRs as many as the number of those particles in this group. We construct such a kind of teleportation, the realization of which need a nonlocal unitary transformation to the quantum system that is made up of the s-level particle and all the two-level particles at one end of the EPRs, and measurements to all the single particles in this system. The unitary transformation to more than two particles is also written into the product form of tw…
We employ the quantum state of a single photon entangled with the vacuum (|1,0>-|0,1>), generated by a photon incident upon a symmetric beam splitter, to teleport single-mode quantum states of light by means of the Bennett protocol. Teleportation of coherent states results in truncation of their Fock expansion to the first two terms. We analyze the teleported ensembles by means of homodyne tomography and obtain fidelities of up to 99 per cent for low source state amplitudes. This work is an experimental realization of the quantum scissors device proposed by Pegg, Phillips and Barnett (Phys. Re…
In this letter, we report a realization of synchronization-free quantum teleportation and narrowband three-photon entanglement through interfering narrowband photon sources. Since both the single-photon and the entangled photon pair utilized are completely autonomous, it removes the requirement of high demanding synchronization technique in long-distance quantum communication with pulsed spontaneous parametric down-conversion sources. The frequency linewidth of the three-photon entanglement realized is on the order of several MHz, which matches the requirement of atomic ensemble based quantum …
Anyons have been extensively investigated as information carriers in topological quantum computation. However, how to characterize the information flow in quantum networks composed of anyons is less understood, which motivates us to study quantum communication protocols in anyonic systems. Here we propose a general topologically protected protocol for quantum teleportation based on the Ising anyon model and prove that with our protocol an unknown anyonic state of any number of Ising anyons can be teleported from Alice to Bob. Our protocol naturally generalizes quantum state teleportation from …
The process of teleportation of a completely unknown one-particle state of a free relativistic quantum field is considered. In contrast to the non-relativistic quantum mechanics, the teleportation of an unknown state of the quantum field cannot be in principle described in terms of a measurement in a tensor product of two Hilbert spaces to which the unknown state and the state of the EPR-pair belong. The reason is of the existence of a cyclic (vacuum) state common to both the unknown state and the EPR-pair. Due to the common vacuum vector and the microcausality principle (commutation relations…
Continuous Variable (CV) non-Gaussian resources are fundamental in the realization of quantum error correction for CV-based quantum communications and CV-based computing. In this work, we investigate the use of CV non-Gaussian states as quantum teleportation resource states in the context of the transmission of coherent and squeezed states through noisy channels. We consider an array of different non-Gaussian resource states, and compute the fidelity of state teleportation achieved for each resource. Our results show that the use of non-Gaussian states presents a significant advantage compared…
