Enhancement of the sensitivities of optical magnetometers, atomic clocks and atom interferometers and other quantum metrology devices requires introducing new physical processes to improve on their present achievements. Many body collective correlations among the atoms, spins or, in general, quantum systems may prove to be a suitable method. As these correlations introduce interference terms in the intensity of the scattering amplitudes, they may enhance the signal as $N(N-1)$ for N correlated quantum systems. These correlations enhance the signal to noise ratio by a factor of $N^2$ and contribute to better sensitivity in quantum metrology. Moreover atomic correlation may provide quantum noise limit, Heisenberg limit. In the present communication excitation exchange induced by photons in a cavity between two atoms is calculated and clearly exhibits correlation and collective effects. A novel operator is introduced that expresses photon-induced excitation exchange that takes in account energy conservation, $V_{ij}=\hat{a}^\dagσ_iσ_j^†\hat{a}$, $σ_i=\left|g\right\rangle_{i}\left\langle e\right|_{i}$ is lowering operator of $i$-th atom, and $\hat{a}^†,\hat{a}$ are photon creation and annihilation operators. Here $i$ and $j$ stand for two atoms. This operator describes real or virtual photon assisted dipole-dipole interaction. Moreover, it conserves the total number of excitations in the joint em field and the quantum system. Experimental challenges are suggested.

Multipartite entanglement plays an important role in quantum information processing and quantum metrology. Here, the dressing-energy-level-cascaded (DELC) four-wave mixing (FWM) processes are proposed to generate all-optical controlled multipartite entanglement within a single device. The entanglement characteristics of the produced states of light are characterized by applying the Duan criterion and the positivity under partial transposition criterion. Moreover, by using an internal dressing field to modulate atomic coherence, multiple quantum coherent channels of FWM are simultaneously const…
Owing to recent advances in laser technology, it has become important to investigate fundamental laser-assisted processes in very powerful laser fields. In the present work and within the framework of laser-assisted quantum electrodynamics (QED), electron-proton scattering was considered in the presence of a strong electromagnetic field of circular polarization. First, we present a study of the process where we only take into account the relativistic dressing of the electron without the proton. Then, in order to explore the effect of the proton dressing, we fully consider the relativistic dres…
We experimentally demonstrate the generation of heralded bi-chromatic single photons from an atomic collective spin excitation (CSE). The photon arrival times display collective quantum beats, a novel interference effect resulting from the relative motion of atoms in the CSE. A combination of velocity-selective excitation with strong laser dressing and the addition of a magnetic field allows for exquisite control of this collective beat phenomenon. The present experiment uses a diamond scheme with near-IR photons that can be extended to include telecommunications-wavelengths or modified to all…
Quantum spin systems with kinetic constraints have become paradigmatic for exploring collective dynamical behaviour in many-body systems. Here we discuss a facilitated spin system which is inspired by recent progress in the realization of Rydberg quantum simulators. This platform allows to control and investigate the interplay between facilitation dynamics and the coupling of spin degrees of freedom to lattice vibrations. Developing a minimal model, we show that this leads to the formation of polaronic quasiparticle excitations which are formed by many-body spin states dressed by phonons. We i…
We demonstrate continuous measurement and coherent control of the collective spin of an atomic ensemble undergoing Larmor precession in a high-finesse optical cavity. The coupling of the precessing spin to the cavity field yields phenomena similar to those observed in cavity optomechanics, including cavity amplification, damping, and optical spring shifts. These effects arise from autonomous optical feedback onto the atomic spin dynamics, conditioned by the cavity spectrum. We use this feedback to stabilize the spin in either its high- or low-energy state, where, in equilibrium with measuremen…
Spin collective phenomena including superradiance are even today being intensively investigated with experimental tests performed based on state-of-the-art quantum technologies. Such attempts are not only for the simple experimental verification of predictions from the last century but also as a motivation to explore new applications of spin collective phenomena and the coherent control of the coupling between spin ensembles and reservoirs. In this paper, we investigate the open quantum dynamics of two spin ensembles (double spin domains) coupled to a common bosonic reservoir. We analyze in de…
We study the collective dephasing process of a system of non-interacting atomic qubits, immersed in a spatially uniform magnetic field of fluctuating intensity. The correlation properties of bipartite states are analysed based on a geometric representation of the state space. Particular emphasis is put on the dephasing-assisted generation of states with a high correlation rank, which can be related to discord-type correlations and allow for direct applications in quantum information theory. Finally we study the conditions that ensure the robustness of initial entanglement and discuss the pheno…
Ultracold quantum gases confined in three-dimensional bubble traps are promising tools for exploring many-body effects on curved manifolds. As an alternative to the conventional technique of radio-frequency dressing, we propose to create such shell-shaped Bose-Einstein condensates in microgravity based on dual-species atomic mixtures and we analyze their properties as well as the feasibility to realize symmetrically filled shells. Beyond similarities with the radio-frequency dressing method as in the collective-excitation spectrum, our approach has several natural advantages like the robustnes…
Coherent collective oscillations of electrons excited in metallic nanostructures (localized surface plasmons) can confine incident light to atomic scales and enable strong light-matter interactions, which depend nonlinearly on the local field. Direct sampling of such collective electron oscillations in real-time is crucial to performing petahertz scale optical modulation, control, and readout in a quantum nanodevice. Here, we demonstrate real-time tracking of collective electron oscillations in an Au bowtie nanoantenna, by recording photo-assisted tunnelling currents generated by such oscillat…
We theoretically investigate the generation of microscopic atomic NOON states, corresponding to the coherent |N,0> + |0,N> superposition with N ~ 5 particles, via collective tunneling of interacting ultracold bosonic atoms within a symmetric double-well potential in the self-trapping regime. We show that a periodic driving of the double well with suitably tuned amplitude and frequency parameters allows one to substantially boost this tunneling process without altering its collective character. The time scale to generate the NOON superposition, which corresponds to half the tunneling time and w…
In dense atomic gases the interaction between transition dipoles and photons leads to the formation of many-body states with collective dissipation and long-ranged forces. Despite decades of research, a full understanding of this paradigmatic many-body problem is still lacking. Here, we put forward and explore a scenario in which a dense atomic gas is weakly excited by an off-resonant laser field. We develop the theory for describing such dressed many-body ensembles and show that collective excitations are responsible for the emergence of many-body interactions, i.e. effective potentials that …
We study the role of electron-phonon scattering for a pulse-triggered quantum dot single-photon source which utilizes a modified version of stimulated Raman adiabatic passage and cavity-coupling. This on-demand source is coherently pumped with an optical pulse in the presence of a continuous wave laser drive, allowing for efficient generation of indistinguishable single photons with polarizations orthogonal to the applied fields. In contrast to previous studies, we explore the role of electron-phonon scattering on this semiconductor system by using a polaron master equation approach to model t…

The quantum spin states of atomic ensemble are of special interesting for both fundamental studies and precision measurement applications. Here, we propose a scheme to prepare collective quantum states of an atomic ensemble placed in an optical cavity via homodyne measurement of probing light field. The effective interactions of atoms mediated by photons are enhanced by the optical cavity, and the output probe light could also be entangled with the collective spin states. By selectively measuring the quadrature of output light, we can prepare various quantum states, including superposition sta…
We propose an efficient scheme for generating spin-squeezed states at steady state in a spin-mechanical hybrid system, where an ensemble of SiV centers are coupled to a strongly damped nanomechanical resonator. We show that, there exists a collective steady state in the system, which is exactly formed by the collective spin states plus the zero excitation state of the mechanical mode. The generation of the steady spin-squeezed state is based on a dissipative quantum dynamical process in which the mechanical dissipation plays a positive role but without destroying the target state. We demonstrat…
We investigate how collective behaviors of vibrations such as cooperativity and interference can enhance energy transfer in a nontrivial way, focusing on an example of a donor-bridge-acceptor trimeric chromophore system coupled to two vibrational degrees of freedom. Employing parameters selected to provide an overall uphill energy transfer from donor to acceptor, we use numerical calculations of dynamics in a coupled exciton-vibration basis, together with perturbation-based analytics and calculation of vibronic spectra, we identify clear spectral features of single- and multi-phonon vibrationa…
We propose to implement a solid-state rotation sensor by employing a many-body quantum spin system which takes the advantages of the easy controllability of the electron spin and the robustness provided by the collective nuclear spin state. The sensor consists of a central electron spin coupled to many surrounding nuclear spins. Previously, this central spin system has been suggested to realize a quantum memory. Here, we further utilize the collective nuclear spins, which store a certain quantum state, to detect the macroscopic rotation. Different from other nuclear spin-based gyroscopes, our …
We theoretically investigate a possibility to establish multi-qubit quantum correlations in one-dimensional chains of qubits. We combine a reservoir engineering strategy with coherent dynamics to generate multi-qubit entangled states. We find that an interplay between the coherent and incoherent dynamics result in the generation of stable (time-independent) many-body entangled steady states. Our results will be relevant in the context of the dissipative generation of quantum states, with applications in short-distance quantum computation and for exploring the emergence of collective phenomena …
We introduce and demonstrate a scheme for eliminating the inhomogeneous dephasing of a collective quantum state. The scheme employs off-resonant fields that continuously dress the collective state with an auxiliary sensor state, which has an enhanced and opposite sensitivity to the same source of inhomogeneity. We derive the optimal conditions under which the dressed state is fully protected from dephasing, when using either one or two dressing fields. The latter provides better protection, circumvents qubit phase rotation, and suppresses the sensitivity to drive noise. We further derive expre…
We theoretically investigate the possibility of creating phonon-mediated spin-spin interactions between neutral atoms trapped in optical tweezers. By laser coupling the atoms to Rydberg states, collective modes of motion appear. We show that these can be used to mediate effective spin-spin interactions or quantum logic gates between the atoms in analogy to schemes employed in trapped ions. In particular, we employ Rydberg dressing in a novel scheme to induce the needed interaction, and we show that it is possible to replicate the working of the Mølmer-Sørensen entanglement scheme. The Mølmer-S…
We experimentally demonstrate a proposal [Phys. Rev. A 87, 052325 (2013)] of a scheme for robust distribution of polarization entangled photon pairs over collective noisy channels having the reciprocity. Although the scheme employs the robustness of two qubit decoherence-free subspace, by utilizing the forward propagation of one half of the entangled photons and the backward propagation of a classical reference light, it achieves an entanglement-sharing rate proportional to the transmittance of the quantum channel for the signal photon. We experimentally observed the efficient sharing rate whi…
The paper reports on experimental diagnostics of entanglement swapping protocol by means of collective entanglement witness. Our approach is suitable to detect disturbances occurring in the preparation of quantum states, quantum communication channel and imperfect Bell-state projection. More specifically we demonstrate that our method can distinguish disturbances such as depolarization, phase-damping, amplitude-damping and imperfect Bell-state measurement by observing four probabilities and estimating collective entanglement witness. Since entanglement swapping is a key procedure for quantum r…
We investigate charge pumping in the vicinity of order-obstructed topological phases, i.e. symmetry protected topological phases masked by spontaneous symmetry breaking in the presence of strong correlations. To explore this, we study a prototypical Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model with finite-range interaction that gives rise to orbital charge density wave order, and characterize the impact of this order on the model's topological properties. In the ordered phase, where the many-body topological invariant loses quantization, we find that not only is quantized charge pumping still possible, but it i…
Triple-NOON states are superpositions of the form $e^{i φ_1} |{N,0,0}\rangle + e^{i φ_2} |{0,N,0}\rangle + e^{i φ_3} |{0,0,N}\rangle$ involving $N$ bosonic quanta distributed over three modes. We theoretically show how such highly entangled states can be generated with interacting ultracold bosonic atoms in a symmetric three-site lattice. The basic protocol consists in preparing all atoms on one site of the lattice and then letting the system evolve during a specific time such that collective tunneling of the atoms to the other two sites takes place. The key point put forward here is that this…

Superradiant phase transition represents an important quantum phenomenon that shows the collective excitations based on the coupling between atoms and cavity modes. The spin-orbit coupling is another quantum effect which induced from the interaction of the atom internal degrees of freedom and momentum of center-of-mass. In this work, we consider the cavity assisted dynamical spin-orbit coupling which comes from the combination of these two effects. It can induce a series of interesting quantum phenomena, such as the flat spectrum and the singularity of the excitation energy spectrum around the…
We give a capacity formula for the classical information transmission over a noisy quantum channel, with separable encoding by the sender and limited resources provided by the receiver's pre-shared ancilla. Instead of a pure state, we consider the signal-ancilla pair in a mixed state, purified by a "witness". Thus, the signal-witness correlation limits the resource available from the signal-ancilla correlation. Our formula characterizes the utility of different forms of resources, including noisy or limited entanglement assistance, for classical communication. With separable encoding, the send…
Blind quantum computation (BQC) allows a client (Alice), who only possesses relatively poor quantum devices, to delegate universal quantum computation to a server (Bob) in such a way that Bob cannot know Alice's inputs, algorithm, and outputs. The quantum channel between Alice and Bob is noisy, and the loss over the long-distance quantum communication should also be taken into account. Here we propose to use decoherence-free subspace (DFS) to overcome the collective noise in the quantum channel for BQC, which we call DFS-BQC. We propose three variations of DFS-BQC protocols. One of them, a coh…
We analyse the dynamics leading to radiative cooling of an atomic ensemble confined inside an optical cavity when the atomic dipolar transitions are incoherently pumped and can synchronize. Our study is performed in the semiclassical regime and assumes that cavity decay is the largest rate in the system dynamics. We identify three regimes characterising the cooling. At first hot atoms are individually cooled by the cavity friction forces. After this stage, the atoms' center-of-mass motion is further cooled by the coupling to the internal degrees of freedom while the dipoles synchronize. In the…
We investigate theoretically quantum entanglement of light with the collective spin polarization of a cold atomic ensemble in cavity-assisted Raman schemes. Previous works concentrated mostly on the bad cavity limit where the signals are much longer than the cavity field lifetime. In view of atomic relaxation and other imperfections, there may arise a need to speed-up the light-atoms interface operation. By increasing the cavity field lifetime, one can achieve better light-matter coupling and entanglement. In our work, we consider the non-adiabatic effects that become important beyond the bad …
Quantum dynamics of the photoisomerization of a single 3,3'-diethyl-2,2'-thiacynine iodide molecule embedded in an optical microcavity was theoretically studied. The molecule was coupled to a single cavity mode via the quantum Rabi Hamiltonian, and the corresponding time-dependent Schrödinger equation starting with a purely molecular excitation was solved using the Multiconfigurational Time-Dependent Hartree Method (MCTDH). We show that, for single-molecule strong coupling with the photon mode, nonadiabatic molecular dynamics produces mixing of polariton manifolds with differing number of exci…
