In this work we measured elastic and inelastic angular distributions of the weakly bound 9Be projectile on the 197Au target at several bombarding energies from 84% up to 140% of the Coulomb barrier. The elastic angular distributions were analyzed using a phenomenological Woods-Saxon potential and a double folding Sao Paulo potential and the energy dependence was extracted. Angular distributions from two inelastic peaks were compared with coupled channel calculations using reduced transition probabilities available in the literature. The energy dependence of the two interaction potential models show a similar trend in the region of the Coulomb barrier. Dispersion relation calculation demonstrates the presence of the breakup threshold anomaly proposed for weakly bound systems.
The production of $α$-particles in reactions using both the strongly and weakly bound projectiles at energies around the Coulomb barrier show several interesting features. To understand these, the role of various reaction mechanisms responsible for $α$-production, such as non-capture breakup, capture of only one of the fragments subsequent to projectile breakup and their contribution to reaction cross sections have been investigated. A systematic study of the $α$-particle production based on available data for various projectile target systems have been performed and a classification based on …
In this work, we reexamine the extension of the CDCC formalism to include target excitation and apply it to a variety of reactions to study the effect of breakup on inelastic cross sections. We use a transformed oscillator basis to discretize the continuum of the projectiles in the different reactions and use the extended CDCC method developed in this work to solve the resulting coupled differential equations. A new code has been developed to perform the calculations. Reactions 58Ni(d, d) 58Ni*, 24Mg(d, d) 24Mg* , 144Sm( 6Li, 6Li) 144Sm* and 9Be( 6Li, 6Li) 9Be* are studied. Satisfactory agreem…
We study the behavior of the fusion, break-up, reaction and elastic scattering of different projectiles on $^{64}$Zn, at near and above barrier energies. We present fusion and elastic scattering data with the tightly bound $^{16}$O and the stable weakly bound $^{6}$Li, $^{7}$Li and $^{9}$Be projectiles. The data were analyzed by coupled channel calculations. The total fusion cross sections for these systems are not affected by the break-up process at energies above the barrier. The elastic (non-capture) break-up cross section is important at energies close and above the Coulomb barrier and inc…
The inclusive breakup of three-fragment projectiles is discussed within a four-body spectator model. Both the elastic breakup and the non-elastic breakup are obtained in a unified framework. Originally developed in the 80's for two-fragment projectiles such as the deuteron, in this paper the theory is successfully generalized to three-fragment projectiles. The expression obtained for the inclusive cross section allows the extraction of the incomplete fusion cross section, and accordingly generalizes the surrogate method to cases such as (t,p) and (t,n) reactions. It is found that two-fragment …
A systematic analysis of the fusion cross sections around the Coulomb barrier energies with stable weakly bound ($^{6}$Li,$^{7}$Li,$^{9}$Be) and strongly bound $^{12}$C projectiles on various targets was performed by using neutron flow model and coupled channels approach. The analysis show that both the models are successful in explaining the near barrier fusion data. Further, it is also observed that the collective degrees of freedom as well as the neutron flow influence the near barrier fusion process involving weakly bound projectiles.
The virtual photon theory (VPT), which is based on first-order Coulomb dissociation restricted to the electric dipole ($E1$), has been successfully used to explain the breakup data for several cases. Our aim is to study the role of various higher-order processes that are ignored in the VPT, such as the nuclear breakup, interference between nuclear and Coulomb amplitudes, and multistep breakup processes mainly due to strong continuum-continuum couplings in the breakup of two-body projectiles on a heavy target at both intermediate and higher incident energies. For the purpose of numerical calcul…
The cross sections of fragments produced in 140 $A$ MeV $^{40,48}$Ca + $^9$Be and $^{58,64}$Ni + $^9$Be reactions are calculated by the statistical abration-ablation(SAA) model and compared to the experimental results measured at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) at Michigan State University. The fragment isotopic and isotonic cross section distributions of $^{40}$Ca and $^{48}$Ca, $^{58}$Ni and $^{64}$Ni, $^{40}$Ca and $^{58}$Ni, and $^{48}$Ca and $^{64}$Ni are compared and the isospin dependence of the projectile fragmentation is studied. It is found that the isospin d…
The importance of the breakup channel in the vicinity of the Coulomb barrier (1<Ec.m./Vb<2) is investigated for the medium weight 6Li+59Co system. Three-body final-state analysis of light-particle coincident data was carried out to disentangle, for the first time, the breakup contributions from other competiting mechanisms. alpha-d angular correlations show incomplete fusion components as significant as that from breakup process. Their strong coupling to total fusion is discussed within a comparison with predictions of continuum discretized coupled-channel calculations.
\item[Purpose] We suppose that the IYR(m) depends on the neutron-skin thickness ($δ_{np}$) of the projectile, and check the idea of whether the neutron-skin thickness effects can fully explain the systematic dependence of the IYR(m). \item[Methods] A modified statistical abrasion-ablation model is used to calculate the reactions induced by projectiles of three series. \item[Results] The IYR(m) shows a distribution of a linear part in the small-$x$ fragments, and a nonlinear part in the large-$x$ fragments. The linear part of IYR(m) is fitted. (1) In the calcium isotopic reactions, the IYR(m) d…
We have performed CDCC calculations for collisions of $^{7}$Li projectiles on $^{59}$Co, $^{144}$Sm and $^{208}$Pb targets at near-barrier energies, to assess the importance of the Coulomb and the nuclear couplings in the breakup of $^{7}$Li, as well as the Coulomb-nuclear interference. We have also investigated scaling laws, expressing the dependence of the cross sections on the charge and the mass of the target. This work is complementary to the one previously reported by us on the breakup of $^{6}$Li. Here we explore the similarities and differences between the results for the two Lithium i…
A model in which a projectile like fragment can be simply regarded as a remnant after removal of some part of the projectile leads to an excited fragment. This excitation energy can be calculated with a Hamiltonian that gives correct nuclear matter binding, compressibility and density distribution in finite nuclei. In heavy ion collisions the model produces a dependence of excitation energy on impact parameter which appears to be correct but the magnitude of the excitation energy falls short. It is argued that dynamic effects left out in the model will increase this magnitude. The model can be…
We discuss the role of deformation of the target nucleus in the fusion reaction of the $^{15}$C + $^{232}$Th system at energies around the Coulomb barrier, for which $^{15}$C is a well-known one-neutron halo nucleus. To this end, we construct the potential between $^{15}$C and $^{232}$Th with the double folding procedure, assuming that the projectile nucleus is composed of the core nucleus, $^{14}$C, and a valance neutron. By taking into account the halo nature of the projectile nucleus as well as the deformation of the target nucleus, we simultaneously reproduce the fusion cross sections for …
In many instances, single nucleon removal reactions from neutron-proton asymmetric projectile nuclei populate final states in the residual nuclei that are very weakly bound. Familiar examples include neutron removal reactions from neutron-rich $^{11}$Be and $^{12}$Be, the latter populating the well-known $1/2^+$ halo ground-state and $1/2^-$ excited-state of $^{11}$Be - both states less than 1 MeV from the first neutron-decay threshold. Numerous additional examples arise in reactions of asymmetric $p$- and $sd$-shell nuclei. The importance of this weak residue binding upon calculated single-nu…
The role of the breakup process and one neutron stripping on the near barrier fusion are investigated for the weakly bound projectile $^{9}$Be on $^{28}$Si, $^{89}$Y, $^{124}$Sn, $^{144}$Sm and $^{208}$Pb targets. Continuum-discretized coupled channels (CDCC) calculations for the breakup with a $^{8}$Be + n model of the $^{9}$Be nucleus and coupled reactions channels (CRC) calculations for the one neutron stripping to several single particle states in the target are performed for these systems. A good description of the experimental fusion cross sections above the Coulomb barrier is obtained f…
The isospin effect and isoscaling behavior in projectile fragmentation have been systematically investigated by a modified statistical abrasion-ablation (SAA) model. The normalized peak differences and reduced isoscaling parameters are found to decrease with ($Z_{proj}-Z$)/$Z_{proj}$ or the excitation energy per nucleon and have no significant dependence on the size of reaction systems. Assuming a Fermi-gas behavior, the excitation energy dependence of the symmetry energy coefficients are tentatively extracted from $α$ and $β$ which looks consistent with the experimental data. It is pointed ou…
A self-contained Fortran-90 program based on a classical trajectory model with stochastic breakup is presented, which should be a powerful tool for quantifying complete and incomplete fusion, and breakup in reactions induced by weakly-bound two-body projectiles near the Coulomb barrier. The code calculates complete and incomplete fusion cross sections and their angular momentum distribution, as well as breakup observables (angle, kinetic energy and relative energy distributions).
Recent measurements of jet production rates at large transverse momentum ($p_T$) in the collisions of small projectiles with large nuclei at RHIC and the LHC indicate that they have an unexpected relationship with estimates of the collision centrality. One compelling interpretation of the data is that it captures an $x_p$-dependent decrease in the average interaction strength of the nucleon in the projectile undergoing a hard scattering. A weakly interacting or "shrinking" nucleon in the projectile strikes fewer nucleons in the nucleus, resulting in a particular pattern of centrality-dependent…
The isoscaling is investigated using the fragment yield data from fully reconstructed quasi-projectiles observed in peripheral collisions of 28Si with 124,112Sn at projectile energies 30 and 50 MeV/nucleon. The excitation energy dependence of the isoscaling parameter beta_prime is observed which is independent of beam energy. For a given quasi-projectile produced in reactions with different targets no isoscaling is observed. The isoscaling thus reflects the level of N/Z-equilibration in reactions with different targets represented by the initial quasi-projectile samples. The excitation energy …
Hanbury Brown-Twiss (HBT) results of the neutron-proton correlation function have been systematically investigated for a series nuclear reactions with light projectiles with help of Isospin-Dependent Quantum Molecular Dynamics model. The relationship between the binding energy per nucleon of the projectiles and the strength of the neutron-proton HBT at small relative momentum has been obtained. Results show that neutron-proton HBT results are sensitive to the binding energy per nucleon.
Hanbury Brown-Twiss (HBT) results of the nucleon-nucleon correlation function have been presented for the nuclear reactions with neutron-rich projectiles (Be isotopes) using an event-generator, the Isospin-Dependent Quantum Molecular Dynamics model. We explore that the relationship between the binding energy per nucleon of the projectiles and the strength of the neutron-proton HBT at small relative momentum. Moreover, we reveal the relationship between the single neutron separation energy and the strength of the halo neutron-proton HBT. Results show that neutron-proton HBT results are sensitiv…
The reaction mechanism of projectile fragmentation at intermediate energies has been investigated observing the target dependence of the production cross sections of very neutron-rich nuclei. Measurement of longitudinal momentum distributions of projectile-like fragments within a wide range of fragment mass and its charge was performed using a hundred-MeV/n $^{40}$Ar beam incident on Be and Ta targets. By measurement of fragment momentum distribution, a parabolic mass dependence of momentum peak shift was observed in the results of both targets, and a phenomenon of light-fragment acceleration …
Study of Reaction Mechanism and Dependence of Incomplete Fusion on Projectile Energy and Entrance Channel Mass-Asymmetry of 12C + 169Tm, 16O + 169Tm And 16O + 75As Systems At 4-7.5MeV/Nucleon Energy Beam
A basic feature of the nuclear equation of state is not yet understood: the dependence of the nuclear caloric curve on the neutron-proton asymmetry. Predictions of theoretical models differ on the magnitude and even the sign of this dependence. In this work, the nuclear caloric curve is examined for fully reconstructed quasi-projectiles around mass A=50. The caloric curve extracted with the momentum quadrupole fluctuation thermometer shows that the temperature varies linearly with quasi-projectile asymmetry (N-Z)/A. An increase in asymmetry of 0.15 units corresponds to a decrease in temperatur…
We use an improved version of the semiclassical method described in Refs. [1,2,3] to evaluate fusion cross sections in collisions of weakly bound nuclei. This version takes into account the static effects of the low breakup threshold, uses better bin states in the discretization of the continuum and avoids the excitation of closed channels. The population of these channels is a consequence of the violation of energy conservation, which is inherent in the semiclassical method. The method is employed to evaluate complete fusion and total fusion cross section in collisions of the weakly bound 6,7…
The isospin diffusion of the quasi-projectile formed in the $^{64,58}Ni$ on $^{64,58}Ni$ reactions in the Fermi energy domain is investigated in the framework of the Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck transport model. The well known isospin transport ratio observable is revisited, with the aim of insuring an optimal comparison between experimental data and theoretical calculations and reducing the present uncertainties in the extraction of empirical equation of state parameters. We show that isospin transport ratios are sensitive to all the low order isovector parameters ($E_{sym}$, $L_{sym}$ and $K_…
Isochronous mass spectrometry was applied to measure isomeric yield ratios of fragmentation reaction products. This approach is complementary to conventional gamma-ray spectroscopy in particular for measuring yield ratios for long-lived isomeric states. Isomeric yield ratios for the high-spin I = 19/2 states in the mirror nuclei 53Fe and 53Co are measured to study angular momentum population following the projectile fragmentation of 78Kr at energies of 480A MeV on a beryllium target. The 19/2 state isomeric ratios of 53Fe produced from different projectiles in the literature have also been ext…
We have measured production yields and longitudinal momentum distributions of projectile-like fragments in the reaction 129Xe + 27Al at an energy of Elab=790 AMeV. Production cross sections higher than expected from systematics were observed for nuclei in the neutron-deficient tails of the isotopic distributions. A comparison with previously measured data from the fragmentation of 136Xe ions shows that the production yields strongly depend on the neutron excess of the projectile with respect to the line of beta-stability. The momentum distributions exhibit a dependence on the fragment neutron-…
This work presents the basic characteristics of singly, doubly and heavily charged projectile fragments (PFs) emitted in inelastic interactions of 32S ions with photo-emulsion nuclei at Dubna energy (3.7A GeV). Our experimental data are compared with the corresponding data for other projectiles at the same incident energy. The study of mean multiplicities of different charged PFs against the projectile mass shows a power-law relationship. The multiplicity distributions of singly and doubly charged PFs have been fitted well with a Gaussian distribution function. The yields of PFs broken up from…
To probe the role of the intrinsic structure of the projectile on sub-barrier fusion, measurement of fusion cross sections has been carried out in $^{9}$Be + $^{197}$Au system in the energy range E$_{c.m.}$/V$_B$ $\approx$ 0.82 to 1.16 using off-beam gamma counting method. Measured fusion excitation function has been analyzed in the framework of the coupled-channel approach using CCFULL code. It is observed that the coupled-channel calculations, including couplings to the inelastic state of the target and the first two states of the rotational band built on the ground state of the projectile, …
The influence on fusion of coupling to the breakup process is investigated for reactions where at least one of the colliding nuclei has a sufficiently low binding energy for breakup to become an important process. Elastic scattering, excitation functions for sub-and near-barrier fusion cross sections, and breakup yields are analyzed for $^{6,7}$Li+$^{59}$Co. Continuum-Discretized Coupled-Channels (CDCC) calculations describe well the data at and above the barrier. Elastic scattering with $^{6}$Li (as compared to $^{7}$Li) indicates the significant role of breakup for weakly bound projectiles. …
Complete fusion excitation functions of reactions involving breakup are studied by using the empirical coupled-channel (ECC) model with breakup effects considered. An exponential function with two parameters is adopted to describe the prompt-breakup probability in the ECC model. These two parameters are fixed by fitting the measured prompt-breakup probability or the complete fusion cross sections. The suppression of complete fusion at energies above the Coulomb barrier is studied by comparing the data with the predictions from the ECC model without the breakup channel considered. The results s…
The N/Z dependence of projectile fragmentation at relativistic energies has been studied in a recent experiment at the GSI laboratory with the ALADiN forward spectrometer coupled to the LAND neutron detector. Besides a primary beam of 124Sn, also secondary beams of 124La and 107Sn delivered by the FRS fragment separator have been used in order to extend the range of isotopic compositions of the produced spectator sources. With the achieved mass resolution of ΔA/A \approx 1.5%, lighter isotopes with atomic numbers Z \le 10 are individually resolved. The presently ongoing analyses of the measure…
The properties of the relativistic alpha fragments produced in interactions of 84^Kr at around 1 A GeV in nuclear emulsion are investigated. The experimental results are compared with the similar results obtained from various projectiles with emulsion interactions at different energies. The total, partial nuclear cross-sections and production rates of alpha fragmentation channels in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions and their dependence on the mass number and initial energy of the incident projectile nucleus are investigated. The yields of multiple alpha fragments emitted from the intera…
The nuclear optical model potential (OMP) is generally assumed to be independent of the orbital angular momentum, $l$, of the interacting nuclei. Nucleon-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus interactions are customarily $l$ independent in calculations of nuclear elastic scattering and in standard reaction codes. The evidence for various forms of $l$ dependence of OMPs is reviewed and the importance of implementing these forms is evaluated. Existing arguments and evidence for $l$ dependence are reviewed and new arguments and calculations are introduced. The relationship is examined between (i) $l$ depen…
A comparison of experimental heavy residue cross sections from the reactions 86Kr+64Ni,112,124Sn with the model of deep-inelastic transfer (DIT) is carried out. A modified expression for nucleon transfer probabilities is used at non-overlapping projectile-target configurations, introducing a dependence on isospin asymmetry at the nuclear periphery. The experimental yields of neutron-rich nuclei close to the projectile are reproduced better and the trend deviating from the bulk isospin equilibration is explained. For the neutron-rich products further from the projectile, originating from hot qu…
The N/Z dependence of projectile fragmentation at relativistic energies has been studied with the ALADIN forward spectrometer at the GSI Schwerionen Synchrotron (SIS). Stable and radioactive Sn and La beams with an incident energy of 600 MeV per nucleon have been used in order to explore a wide range of isotopic compositions. For the interpretation of the data, calculations with the statistical multifragmentation model for a properly chosen ensemble of excited sources were performed. The parameters of the ensemble, representing the variety of excited spectator nuclei expected in a participant-…
The elastic scattering of the radioactive halo nucleus 6He on 27Al target was measured at four energies close to the Coulomb barrier using the RIBRAS (Radioactive Ion Beams in Brazil) facility. The Sao Paulo Potential(SPP) was used and its diffuseness and imaginary strength were adjusted to fit the elastic scattering angular distributions. Reaction cross-sections were extracted from the optical model fits. The reduced reaction cross-sections of 6He on 27Al are similar to those for stable, weakly bound projectiles as {6,7}Li, 9Be and larger than stable, tightly bound projectile as 16O on 27Al.
The emission angle distribution of projectile fragments (PFs) and the temperature of PFs emission source for fragmentation of $^{56}$Fe on polyethylene, carbon and aluminum targets at the highest energy of 496 A MeV are investigated using CR-39 plastic nuclear track detector. It is found that the averaged emission angle of PFs increases with the decrease of PF charge for the same target, and no obvious dependence of angular distribution on the mass of target nucleus is found for the same PF. The cumulated squared transverse momentum distribution of PF can be well represented by a single Raylei…
There is a considerable interest in understanding the dependence of one-nucleon removal cross sections on the asymmetry of the neutron $S_n$ and proton $S_p$ separation energies, following a large amount of experimental data and theoretical analyses in a framework of sudden and eikonal approximations of the reaction dynamics. These theoretical calculations involve both the single-particle cross section and the shell-model description of the projectile initial state and final states of the reaction residues. The configuration mixing in shell-model description of nuclear states depends on the pr…
The total reaction cross section $σ_{\rm{reac}}$ is a valuable measure for the prediction of $α$-induced reaction cross sections within the statistical model and for the comparison of scattering of tightly bound projectiles to weakly bound and exotic projectiles. Here we provide the total reaction cross sections $σ_{\rm{reac}}$ derived from our previously published angular distributions of $α$-elastic scattering on $^{89}$Y, $^{92}$Mo, $^{112,124}$Sn, and $^{144}$Sm at energies around the Coulomb barrier.
The total nuclear reaction cross-section is calculated considering with and without medium effect by employing Coulomb Modified Glauber Model (CMGM) for interactions of projectiles 56^Fe_26, 84^Kr_36, 132^Xe_54, 197^Au_79 and 238^U_92 with nuclear emulsion detector (NED) nuclei at around 1 GeV per nucleon incident kinetic energy. These calculated reaction cross-sections are correlated with the different target groups of the NED nuclei. The average value of various parameters are also calculated and compared with the corresponding experimental results. The number of shower particles emitted in …

Isospin transport occurring within dinuclear projectile-like fragments (PLFs) produced in heavy- ion collisions is explored as a probe of the nuclear symmetry energy. Within the framework of the Constrained Molecular Dynamics model (CoMD), the existence of the long-lived dinuclear PLFs, for up to 800 fm/c, is observed. It is demonstrated that changes in the <N/Z> of the two fragments resulting from the breakup of the dinuclear PLF is due to isospin transport. The rate of the transport between the two fragments is shown to be dependent on the slope of the symmetry energy at saturation density. …
The proton and neutron inclusive distributions in the projectile fragmentation region of $pA$ collisions are studied in the valon model. Momentum degradation and flavor changes due to the nuclear medium are described at the valon level using two parameters. Particle production is treated by means of the recombination subprocess. The centrality dependences of the net proton and neutron spectra of the NA49 data are satisfactorily reproduced. The effective degradation length is determined to be 17 fm. Pion inclusive distributions can be calculated without any adjustable parameters.
We study the energy dependence of collective (hydrodynamic-like) nuclear matter flow in 400-1970 A MeV Ni+Au and 1000-1970 A MeV Ni+Cu reactions. The flow increases with energy, reaches a maximum, and then gradually decreases at higher energies. A way of comparing the energy dependence of flow values for different projectile-target mass combinations is introduced, which demonstrates a common scaling behaviour among flow values from different systems.
The influence on the fusion process of coupling to collective degrees of freedom has been explored. The significant enhancement of the fusion cross section at sub-barrier energies was compared to predictions of one-dimensional barrier penetration models. This was understood in terms of the dynamical processes arising from strong couplings to collective inelastic excitations of the target and projectile. However, in the case of reactions where at least one of the colliding nuclei has a sufficiently low binding energy, for breakup to become an important process, conflicting model predictions and…
Elastic scattering angular distributions for systems with reduced mass between 3 and 34 and energies varying between 25 and 120 MeV/nucleon were analyzed. The stable $^4$He, its exotic partner $^6$He, and the weakly bound $^{6,7}$Li nuclei were included as projectiles in the systematics. Optical model data analyzes were performed with an adjustable factor of normalization included in the imaginary part of the potential. These analyzes indicated a reduction of absorption for systems with small reduced masses that was detected due to the refractive nature of the scattering by light systems.
Analyzing powers and cross sections for the elastic scattering of polarized 7Li by targets of 6Li, 7Li and 12C are shown to depend only on the properties of the projectile for momentum transfers of less than 1.0 fm-1. The result of a detailed analysis of the experimental data within the framework of the coupled channels model with ground state reorientation and transitions to the excited states of the projectile and targets included in the coupling schemes are presented. This work suggests that nuclear properties of weakly-bound nuclei can be tested by elastic scattering experiments, independe…
The measurement of light charged particles evaporated from the reaction 6,7Li+6Li has been carried out at extreme backward angle in the energy range 14 - 20 MeV. Calculations from the code ALICE91 show that the symmetry of the target-projectile combination and the choice of level density parameter play important roles in explaining the evaporation spectra for these light particle systems. In above barrier energy region the fusion cross-section is not suppressed for these loosely bound nuclei.
The velocity dependence of the stopping power of swift protons and deuterons in low energy collisions is investigated. At low projectile energies the stopping is mainly due to nuclear stopping and charge exchange of the electron. The second mechanism dominates after Ep >=200 eV. A dynamical treatment of the charge exchange mechanism based on two-center electronic wavefunctions yields very transparent results for the exchange probability. We predict that the stopping cross sections vary approximately as v to the 1.35 power for projectile protons on hydrogen targets in the 1 keV energy region.
Multi-fragment decays of 129Xe, 197Au, and 238U projectiles in collisions with Be, C, Al, Cu, In, Au, and U targets at energies between E/A = 400 MeV and 1000 MeV have been studied with the ALADIN forward-spectrometer at SIS. By adding an array of 84 Si-CsI(Tl) telescopes the solid-angle coverage of the setup was extended to θ_lab = 16 degree. This permitted the complete detection of fragments from the projectile-spectator source. The dominant feature of the systematic set of data is the Z_bound universality that is obeyed by the fragment multiplicities and correlations. These observables are …
The relationship between jet production in the central region and the underlying-event activity in a pseudorapidity-separated region is studied in 4.0 pb$^{-1}$ of $\sqrt{s} = 2.76$ TeV $pp$ collision data recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The underlying event is characterised through measurements of the average value of the sum of the transverse energy at large pseudorapidity downstream of one of the protons, which are reported here as a function of hard-scattering kinematic variables. The hard scattering is characterised by the average transverse momentum and pseudorapidity of the…
A dependence of the isobaric ratio Y(3H)/Y(3He) on the N/Z ratio of the reconstructed quasiprojectile for the reaction of 28Si beam with 112,124Sn targets at two different projectile energies 30 and 50 MeV/nucleon is presented. We demonstrate a linear dependence of ln(Y(3H)/Y(3He)) on the quasiprojectile N/Z ratio and show the dependence of the slope on reconstructed excitation energy of the quasiprojectile. We relate this slope dependence at a given excitation energy to the temperature of the fragmenting system. Using the model assumptions of the statistical multifragmentation model, a method…
Projectile fragmentation of 84Kr in three different energy intervals has been studied. Many aspects of multifragmentation process have been examined in depth. It is observed that multifragmentation is a general low energy phenomenon associated with heavy beam. The number of Intermediate-Mass-Fragments (IMF's) shows strong projetile mass dependence.
