Simulations of field theories on noisy quantum computers must contend with errors introduced by that noise. For gauge theories, a large class of errors violate gauge symmetry, and thus may result in unphysical processes occurring in the simulation. We present a method, applicable to non-Abelian gauge theories, for suppressing coherent gauge drift errors through the repeated application of pseudorandom gauge transformation. In cases where the dominant errors are gauge-violating, we expect this method to be a practical way to improve the accuracy of NISQ-era simulations.
Scalable quantum information processing requires the ability to tune multi-qubit interactions. This makes the precise manipulation of quantum states particularly difficult for multi-qubit interactions because tunability unavoidably introduces sensitivity to fluctuations in the tuned parameters, leading to erroneous multi-qubit gate operations. The performance of quantum algorithms may be severely compromised by coherent multi-qubit errors. It is therefore imperative to understand how these fluctuations affect multi-qubit interactions and, more importantly, to mitigate their influence. In this …
Quantum plasmonic systems suffer from significant decoherence due to the intrinsically large dissipative and radiative dampings. Based on our quantum simulations via a quantum tensor network algorithm, we numerically demonstrate the mitigation of this restrictive drawback by hybridizing a plasmonic nanocavity with an emitter ensemble with inhomogeneously-broadened transition frequencies. By burning two narrow spectral holes in the spectral density of the emitter ensemble, the coherent time of Rabi oscillation for the hybrid system is increased tenfold. With the suppressed decoherence, we move …

Scalable coherent control hardware for quantum information platforms is rapidly growing in priority as their number of available qubits continues to increase. As these systems scale, more calibration steps are needed, leading to challenges with system instability as calibrated parameters drift. Moreover, the sheer amount of data required to run circuits with large depth tends to balloon, especially when implementing state-of-the-art dynamical-decoupling gates which require advanced modulation techniques. We present a control system that addresses these challenges for trapped-ion systems, throu…
