Let $X$ be a class of extended numerical functions on a domain $D$ of $d$-dimensional Euclidean space $\mathbb R^d$, $H\subset X$. Given $u,M\in X$, we write $u\prec_H M$ if there is a function $h\in H$ such that $u+h\leq M$ on $D$. We consider this special preorder $\prec_H$ for a pair of subharmonic unctions $u, M$ on $D$ in cases where $H$ is the space of all harmonic functions on $D$ or $H$ is the convex cone of all subharmonic functions $h \not\equiv -\infty$ on $D$. Main results are dual equivalent forms for this preorder $\prec_H$ in terms of balayage processes for Riesz measures of subharmonic functions $u$ and $M$, for Jensen and Arens-Singer (representing) measures, for potentials of these measures, and for special test functions generated by subharmonic functions on complements $D\setminus S$ of non-empty precompact subsets $S\Subset D$. Applications to holomorphic functions $f$ on a domain $D\subset \mathbb C^n$ relate to the distribution of zero sets of functions $f$ under upper restrictions $|f|\leq \exp M$ on $D$. If a domain $D\subset \mathbb C$ is a finitely connected domain with non-empty exterior or a simply connected domain with two different points on the boundary of $D$, then our conditions for the distribution of zeros of $f\neq 0$ with $|f|\leq \exp M$ on $D$ are both necessary and sufficient.
We establish a general uniqueness theorem for subharmonic functions of several variables on a domain. A corollary from this uniqueness theorem for holomorphic functions is formulated in terms of the zero subset of holomorphic functions and restrictions on the growth of functions near the boundary of domain.
We study the problem of classifying the holomorphic $(m,n)$-subharmonic morphisms in complex space. This determines which holomorphic mappings preserves $m$-subharmonicity in the sense that the composition of the holomorphic mapping with a $m$-subharmonic functions is $n$-subharmonic. We show that there are three different scenarios depending on the underlying dimensions, and the model itself. Either the holomorphic mappings are just the constant functions, or up to composition with a homotethetic map, canonical orthogonal projections. Finally, there is a more intriguing case when subharmonici…
Let $m,n\geq 1$ are integers and $D$ be a domain in the $$ $\mathbb C^n$ or in the $m$-dimensional real space $\mathbb R^m$. We build positive subharmonic functions on $D$ vanishing on the boundary $\partial D$ of $D$. We use such (test) functions to study the distribution of zero sets of holomorphic functions $f$ on $D\subset \mathbb C^n$ with restrictions on the growth of $f$ near the boundary $\partial D$.
Let $u$ be a plurisubharmonic function. We prove the existence of a nonzero holomorphic function such that the logarithm of its modulus is not more than local averages of this function $u$. This is the abstract for scientific conference "Algebra, Analysis and Related Problems of Mathematical Modeling" (Vladikavkaz, June 26-27, 2015) dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Professor, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Vladimir A. Let $D$ be a domain in the complex plane, $M$ be an extended real function on $D$. If $f$ is a non-zero holomorphic function on $D$ with an upper constraint $|f|\leq \exp M$ on this domain $D$, then it is natural to expect that there must be some upper constraints on the distribution of zeros of this holomorphic function exclusively in terms of the function $M$ and the geometry of the domain $D$. We have investigated this question in detail in our previous works in the case when $M$ is a subharmonic function and the domain $D$ is arbitrary or with a non-polar boundary. The answer was given in …
General estimates from below of holomorphic and subharmonic functions play one of the key roles in the theory of growth of holomorphic and subharmonic functions and in general in the theory of potential. At the same time, the most diverse technical apparatus was often used for this. In one of our recent papers, we showed in fairly general cases that in fact such a wide set of tools is not required. The classic Harnack distance is almost always enough. In this article, we will illustrate how this works in the cases of the unit disc in the complex plane.
We study subharmonic functions whose Laplacian is supported on a null set and in connected components of of the complement to the support admit harmonic extensions to larger sets. We prove that if such a function has a piecewise holomorphic derivative, then it is locally piecewise harmonic. In generic cases it coincides locally with the maximum of finitely many harmonic functions. Moreover, we describe the support when the holomorphic derivative satisfies a global algebraic equation. The proofs follow classical patterns and our methods may also be of independent interest.
In our articles of recent years, the technique of gluing two subharmonic functions turned out to be very useful in studying the distribution of the roots or masses of holomorphic or subharmonic functions, respectively. Here we develop and improve this technique. Its applications will be given in our further works.
Let $M$ be a subharmonic function on a domain $D$ in the complex plane $\mathbb C$ with the Riesz measure $ν_M$. Let $f$ be a non-zero holomorphic function on $D$ such that $\log |f|\leq M$ on $D$ and the function $f$ vanish on a sequence ${\tt Z}=\{{\tt z}_k\}_{k=1,2, \dots}\subset D$ {\large(}$u\not\equiv -\infty$ be a subharmonic function on $D$ with the Riesz measure or the mass distribution $ν_u$, and $u\leq M$ on $D$ resp.{\large)}. Then restrictions on the growth of the Riesz measure $ν_M$ of the function $M$ near the boundary of the domain $D$ entail certain restrictions on the distrib…
We develop and use some key concepts of potential theory, such as balayage and duality between measures and their potentials, to study the distribution of masses of subharmonic functions while restrictions to their growth near the boundary of their domain of definition. They are formulated and proved in terms of the Riesz measure for a subharmonic function. In this article, applications to holomorphic functions concern the distribution of their zero sets under restrictions to growth of this functions. Auxiliary results of our article may also be of independent interest. This is, first of all, …
We use sup-convolution to find upper approximations of a bounded $m$-subharmonic function on a compact Kähler manifold with nonnegative holomorphic bisectional curvature. As an application, we show the Hölder continuity of solutions to $σ_m$ equation when the right hand side is in $L^p$, $p>\frac{n}{m}$. All these results generalize to more general complex Hessian equations.
Let $M$ be a subharmonic function with Riesz measure $ν_M$ in a domain $D$ in the $n$-dimensional complex Euclidean space $\mathbb C^n$, and let $f$ be a nonzero function that is holomorphic in $D$, vanishes on a set ${\sf Z}\subset D$, and satisfies $|f| \leq \exp M$ on $D$. Then restrictions on the growth of $ν_M$ near the boundary of $D$ imply certain restrictions on the area/volume of $\sf Z$. We give a quantitative study of this phenomenon in the subharmonic framework.
Let $G$ be a nonempty bounded domain in a finite-dimensional Euclidean space. The main results are general estimates from below at points from $G$ for an arbitrary subharmonic function $u\not\equiv -\infty$ on the closure of the domain $G$ through the maximum of the function $u$ on the boundary of the domain $G$. These results are new for planar domains $G$, and for intervals of $G$ on the numerical line have also not been previously noted. They show that the Harnack distance plays a key role in these estimates. Further applications to subharmonic, convex, holomorphic functions, as well as to …
We develop classical balayage (sweeping) measures and subharmonic functions on the ray system $S$ with a general origin on the complex plane $\mathbb C$. This allows for a subharmonic function $v$ on $\mathbb C$ to construct also a subharmonic function on $\mathbb C$ that is harmonic outside $S$ and coincides with $v$ on $S$. We give applications to the relationship between the growth of an entire function on $S$ and the distribution of its zeros, the conditions of complete regular growth of entire and subharmonic functions on the ray system, to the problems of incompleteness of exponential sy…
In this article are improved and refined some of our results prior to our recent article from the journal "Russian Mathematics (Izvestiya VUZ. Matematika)" in 2015 at the expense of our latest results in 2016 on lower estimates of subharmonic functions by the logarithm module nonzero holomorphic function.
Let $D$ be a nonempty domain in $\mathbb C^n$. We give a scale of necessary conditions for the distribution of the zero set of holomorphic function $f$ on domain $D\subset {\mathbb C}^n$ under a restriction on its growth $|f|\leq \exp M$, where $M\not\equiv -\infty$ is a subharmonic function. If $n=1$, $D\neq \mathbb C$ is simply connected, and $M$ is continuous, then this conditions are sufficient.
Let $D$ be a domain in the complex plane $\mathbb C$. It follows from first part of our work that if a non-zero holomorphic function $f$ on $D$ vanishes on a sequence ${\sf Z}\subset D$ and satisfies $|f|\leq M$ on $D$, where $M$ is a subharmonic function on $D$, then the the distribution of ${\sf Z}$ is subordinated to the Riesz measure $ν_M$ of $M$ in a certain sense. Here we show that this result is "almost reversible".
A weak and a strong concept of plurifinely plurisubharmonic and plurifinely holomorphic functions are introduced. Strong will imply weak. The weak concept is studied further. A function f is weakly plurifinely plurisubharmonic if and only if f o h is finely subharmonic for all complex affine-linear maps h. As a consequence, the regularization in the plurifine topology of a pointwise supremum of such functions is weakly plurifinely plurisubharmonic, and it differs from the pointwise supremum at most on a pluripolar set. Weak plurifine plurisubharmonicity and weak plurifine holomorphy are preser…
We study the density of polynomials in $H^2(Ω,e^{-φ})$, the space of square integrable holomorphic functions in a bounded domain $Ω$ in $\mathbb{C}$, where $φ$ is a subharmonic function. In particular, we prove that the density holds in Carathéodory domains for any subharmonic function $φ$ in a neighborhood of $\overlineΩ$. In non-Carathéodory domains, we prove that the density depends on the weight function, giving examples.
Let $M$\/ be a subharmonic function with Riesz measure $μ_M$ on the unit disk $\mathbb D$ in the complex plane $\mathbb C$. Let $f$ be a nonzero holomorphic function on $\mathbb D$ such that $f$ vanishes on ${\sf Z}\subset \mathbb D$, and satisfies $|f| \leq \exp M$ on $\mathbb D$. Then restrictions on the growth of $μ_M$ near the boundary of $D$ imply certain restrictions on the distribution of $\sf Z$. We give a quantitative study of this phenomenon in terms of special non-radial test functions constructed using $ρ$-trigonometrically convex functions.
Let $D$ be a proper domain in the extended complex plane ${\mathbb C}_{\infty}:={\mathbb C}\cup \{\infty\}$, $M=M_+-M_-\not\equiv \pm \infty$ be a difference of non-trivial subharmonic functions $M_{\pm}\not\equiv \mp \infty$ on $D$, $\text{Hol}(D,M)$ be the class of holomorphic function $f$ on $D$ satisfying $|f|\leq \text{const}_f\exp M$ om $D$, ${\sf Z}\subset D$ be a sequence of points in $D$ without limits points in $D$. We give a complete description of the conditions under which the sequence $\sf Z$ is a sequence of all zeros for some nonzero function $f\in \text{Hol}(D,M)$.
Let D be a Hartogs domain of the form D={(z,w) \in CxC^N : |w| < e^{-u(z)}} where u is a subharmonic function on C. We prove that the Bergman space of holomorphic and square integrable functions on D is either trivial or infinite dimensional.
Chapter 1 deals with the problem of the existence of an upper/lower envelope from a convex cone or, more generally, a convex set for functions on the projective limit of vector lattices with values in the completion of the Kantorovich space or on the extended real line. Vector, ordinal and topological dual interpretations of the existence conditions of such envelope and the method of its construction are given. Chapter 2 presents applications to the existence of a nontrivial (pluri)subharmonic and/or (pluri) harmonic minorant for functions in domains from finite-dimensional real or complex spa…
Let $f$ be a nonzero holomorphic function in the unit ball $\mathbb B$ of the $n$-dimensional complex Euclidean space $\mathbb C^n$ such that the function $f$ vanishes on the set ${\sf Z}\subset \mathbb B$ and satisfies the constraint $|f|\leq \exp M$ on $\mathbb B$, where $M\not\equiv \pm \infty$ is $δ$-subharmonic function on $\mathbb B$ with Riesz charge $μ_M$. We give a scale of integral uniform constraints from above on the distribution of the set ${\sf Z}$ via the charge $ν_M$ in terms of $(2n-2)$-Hausdorff measure of the set $\sf Z$, as well as test convex radial functions and $ρ$-subsp…
Pseudo-holomorphic curves on almost complex manifolds have been much more intensely studied than their "dual" objects, the plurisubharmonic functions. These functions are defined classically by requiring that the restriction to each pseudo-holomorphic curve is subharmonic. In this paper subharmonic functions are defined by applying the viscosity approach to a version of the complex hessian which exists intrinsically on any almost complex manifold. Three theorems are proved. The first is a restriction theorem which establishes the equivalence of our definition with the "classical" definition. I…
Let $AL^{2}_ϕ(\mathbb{D})$ denote the closed subspace of $L^{2}(\mathbb{D},e^{-2ϕ}dλ)$ consisting of holomorphic functions in the unit disc ${\mathbb D}$. For certain class of subharmonic funcions $ϕ: {\mathbb D}\rightarrow{\mathbb D}$, we prove upper pointwise estimate for the Bergman kernel for $AL^{2}_ϕ(\mathbb{D})$
Balayage of measures with respect to classes of all subharmonic or harmonic functions on an open set of a plane or finite-dimensional Euclidean space is one of the main objects of potential theory and its applications to the complex analysis. For a class $H$ of functions on $O$, a measure $ω$ on $O$ is a balayage of a measure $δ$ on $O$ with respect to this class $H$ if $\int_O h\, d δ\leq \int_O h\, dω$ for each $h\in H$. In our previous works we used this concept to study envelopes relative to classes of subharmonic and harmonic functions and apply them to describe zero sets of holomorphic f…
