In this work, we make a detailed discussion on the phenomenology of the scotogenic Dirac model, which could accommodate the Dirac neutrino mass and dark matter. We have studied the LFV processes in this model, which are mediated by the charged scalar $ϕ^\pm$ and heavy fermions $N_i$. The experimental bounds, especially given by decays $μ\to eγ$ and $μ\to 3e$, have put severe constraints on Yukawa $y_Φ$ and masses $m_{N1}$, $m_ϕ$. We select the heavy fermion $N_1$ as dark matter candidate and find the correct relic density is basically by annihilating through another Yukawa $y_χ$. After satisfying LFV and dark matter relic density constraints, we consider the indirect detections of dark matter annihilating into leptons. But the constraints are relatively loose. Then we make a detailed discussion on the dark matter direct detections. Although two Yukawa can both contribute to the direct detection processes, more attention has been paid on the $y_Φ$-related processes as the $y_χ$-related process is bounded loosely. The current and future direct detection experiments have been used to set constraints on the Yukawas and masses. The current direct detections bounds are relatively loose and can barely exclude more parameter region beyond the LFV. For the future direct detection experiments, the excluding capacities can be improved due to larger exposures. The detecting capabilities in the large mass region have not been weakened as the existence of mass enhancement from the magnetic dipole operator $\mathcal{O}_{\rm mag.}$. At last, we briefly discuss the collider signal searching in this model, the most promising signature is pair produced $ϕ^+ϕ^-$ and decay into signal of $\ell^+\ell^-+\not{\!\!E}_T$. The exclusion limits from collider on $m_{N1}$ and $m_ϕ$ have provided a complementary detecting capability compared to the LFV and dark matter detections.
We propose a simple extension of the standard model where neutrinos get naturally small "scotogenic" Dirac masses from an unbroken gauged $B-L$ symmetry, ensuring dark matter stability. The associated gauge boson gets mass through the Stueckelberg mechanism. Two scenarios are identified, and the resulting phenomenology briefly sketched.
We propose the simplest TeV-scale scotogenic extension of the original 3-3-1 theory, where dark matter stability is linked to the Dirac nature of neutrinos, which results from an unbroken $B-L$ gauge symmetry. The new gauge bosons get masses through the interplay of spontaneous symmetry breaking à la Higgs and the Stueckelberg mechanism.
The standard model of quarks and leptons is extended to include the gauge symmetry $U(1)_χ$ which comes from $SO(10) \to SU(5) \times U(1)_χ$. The radiative generation of Dirac neutrino masses through dark matter is discussed in two examples. One allows for light Dirac fermion dark matter. The other allows for self-interacting scalar dark matter with a light scalar mediator which decays only to two neutrinos.
In this paper, we perform a detail analysis on the phenomenology of $Z'$ portal scalar and Dirac fermion dark matter in $B-L$ scotogenic Dirac model. Unconventional $B-L$ charge $Q$ is assigned to the right-handed neutrino $ν_R$ in order to realise scotogenic Dirac neutrino mass at one-loop level, where three typical value $Q=-\frac{1}{4},-4,\frac{3}{2}$ are chosen to illustrate. Observational properties involving dilepton signature at LHC, relativistic degrees of freedom $N_\text{eff}$, dark matter relic density, direct and indirect detections are comprehensively studied. Combined results of …
Radiative Dirac neutrino masses and their mixing are linked to dark matter through the non-Abelian discrete symmetry $A_5$ of the 4-dimensional pentatope, softly broken to $A_4$ of the 3-dimensional tetrahedron. This unifying understanding of neutrino family structure from dark matter is made possible through the interplay of gauge symmetry, renormalizable Lagrangian field theory, and softly broken discrete symmetries. Dark neutral fermions are produced through Higgs decay.
If the leptoquarks proposed to account for the intriguing anomalies observed in the $B$-meson decays, $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ and $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$, as well as in the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $(g-2)_μ$, can be embedded into the scotogenic Dirac neutrino model, all these flavor anomalies, together with the origin of neutrino masses and the nature of dark matter, would be potentially addressed in a unified picture. Among the minimal seesaw, one-loop, and two-loop realizations of the dimension-4 effective operator $\mathcal{L}_{4}$ for the Dirac neutrino masses, we show that plenty of diagr…
We perform a systematic analysis of standard model extensions with an additional anomaly-free gauge $U(1)$ symmetry, to generate Dirac neutrino masses at one loop. Under such symmetry, standard model fields could either transform or be invariant, corresponding to an active $U(1)_X$ or a dark $U(1)_D$ symmetry, respectively. Having an anomaly-free symmetry imposes nontrivial conditions to the number and charges of the unavoidable new states. We perform an intensive scan, looking for non-anomalous solutions for given number of extra chiral fermions. In particular, we concentrate on solutions giv…
We construct the one-loop and two-loop scotogenic models for Dirac neutrino mass generation in the context of $U(1)_{B-L}$ extensions of standard model. It is indicated that the total number of intermediate fermion singlets is uniquely fixed by anomaly free condition and the new particles may have exotic $B-L$ charges so that the direct SM Yukawa mass term $\barν_Lν_R\overline{ϕ^0}$ and the Majorana mass term $(m_N/2)\overline{ν_R^C}ν_R$ are naturally forbidden. After the spontaneous breaking of $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry, the discrete $Z_{2}$ or $Z_{3}$ symmetry appears as the residual symmetry an…
In the context of $SU(3)_C \times SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y \times U(1)_χ$, where $U(1)_χ$ comes from $SO(10) \to SU(5) \times U(1)_χ$, supplemented by the non-Abelian discrete $Δ(27)$ symmetry for three lepton families, Dirac neutrino masses and their mixing are radiatively generated through dark matter. The gauge $U(1)_χ$ symmetry is broken spontaneously. The discrete $Δ(27)$ symmetry is broken softly and spontaneously. Together, they result in two residual symmetries, a global $U(1)_L$ lepton number and a dark symmetry, which may be $Z_2$, $Z_3$, or $U(1)_D$ depending on what scalar breaks $U(1…
We study the phenomenology of scotogenic model in the case of Majorana Dark Matter (DM) candidate. This scenario gives important consequences since the parameter space of the model is almost unconstrained compared to the Inert Higgs Doublet Model (or the scotogenic model with scalar DM), and hence, offers new opportunities for discovery at future high energy collider, e.g. the HL-LHC. As an example, we focus on the production of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson in association with a pair of dark scalars. Owing to its clean signature, the $γγ$ decay channel of the SM Higgs boson is investiga…
We assume a dark $U_{D}$ symmetric hidden sector and explore its possible content such that neutrino mass and Dark Matter are generated through the scotogenic mechanism. The hidden sector is considered analogue to the Standard Model, namely the charge assignment of hidden fermions is chiral and anomaly-free. Moreover, $U_{D}$ is assumed broken by an only Higgs singlet that also generates masses to all hidden fermions, therefore the charge assignment is subjected to additional restriction. We search by computer program for charge assignments satisfying all these conditions, and identify the res…
We analyse the signatures at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) of the scotogenic model, when the lightest Z2-odd particle is a singlet fermion and a feebly interacting massive particle (FIMP). We further assume that the singlet fermion constitutes the dark matter and that it is produced in the early Universe via the freeze-in mechanism. The small couplings required to reproduce the observed dark matter abundance translate into decay-lengths for the next-to-lightest Z2-odd particle which can be macroscopic, potentially leading to spectacular signatures at the LHC. We characterize the possible sig…
In order to analyze some low energy experimental anomalies, we charge with a non-universal $U(1)'$ gauge symmetry the standard model fermions, taking as a starting point the well-known scotogenic model. In order to have non-trivial solutions to the anomalies and the Yukawa constraints, we add three neutral singlet Dirac fermions. We have found two possible non-universal solutions which, as a matter of principle, are suitable to analyze family-dependent experimental anomalies.
We study a simple extension of the Standard Model that accounts for neutrino masses and dark matter. The Standard Model is augmented by two Higgs doublets and one Dirac singlet fermion, all charged under a new dark global symmetry. It is a generalised version of the Scotogenic Model with Dirac fermion dark matter. Masses for two neutrinos are generated radiatively at one-loop level. We study the case where the singlet fermion constitutes the dark matter of the Universe. We study in depth the phenomenology of the model, in particular the complementarity between dark matter direct detection and …
We reexamine the minimal Singlet + Triplet Scotogenic Model, where dark matter is the mediator of neutrino mass generation. We assume it to be a scalar WIMP, whose stability follows from the same $\mathbb{Z} _{2}$ symmetry that leads to the radiative origin of neutrino masses. The scheme is the minimal one that allows for solar and atmospheric mass scales to be generated. We perform a full numerical analysis of the signatures expected at dark matter as well as collider experiments. We identify parameter regions where dark matter predictions agree with theoretical and experimental constraints, …
Non-zero neutrino mass and dark matter cast a shadow over the success of the Standard Model (SM) of Particle Physics. The most straightforward extension of the SM to explain these two phenomena is the Scotogenic model, where the SM particle spectrum extends with three isospin singlet right-handed neutrinos and one doublet scalar while all of these being odd under $Z_2$ symmetry. In this work, we have considered the lightest right-handed neutrino as the dark matter candidate and freeze-out mechanism for producing observed dark matter relic density. The observed dark matter relic density, neutri…
The Scotogenic model is a popular scenario that induces radiative Majorana neutrino masses and includes a weakly-interacting dark matter candidate. We classify all possible ultraviolet extensions of the Scotogenic model in which (i) the dark $\mathbb{Z}_2$ parity emerges at low energies after the spontaneous breaking of a global $\rm U(1)_L$ lepton number symmetry, and (ii) the low-energy effective theory contains a naturally small lepton number breaking parameter, suppressed by the mass of a heavy mediator integrated out at tree-level. We find $50$ such models and discuss two of them in detai…
In both scotogenic neutrino and flavor dark matter models, the dark sector communicates with the standard model fermions via Yukawa portal couplings. We propose an economic scenario that scotogenic neutrino and flavored mediator share the same inert Higgs doublet and all are charged under a hidden gauged $U(1)$ symmetry. The dark Z2 symmetry in dark sector is regarded as the remnant of this hidden $U(1)$ symmetry breaking. In particular, we investigate a dark $U(1)_D$ (and also a $U(1)_{B-L}$) model which unifies scotogenic neutrino and top-flavored mediator. In this model dark tops and dark n…
The Scotogenic model extends the standard model with three singlet fermion $N_i$ and one inert doublet scalar $η$ to address the common origin of tiny neutrino mass and dark matter. For fermion dark matter $N_1$, a hierarchical Yukawa structure $|y_{1e}|\ll|y_{1μ}|\sim|y_{1τ}|\sim\mathcal{O}(1)$ is usually favored to satisfy constraints from lepton flavor violation and relic density. Such large $μ$-related Yukawa coupling would greatly enhance the pair production of charged scalar $η^\pm$ at the muon collider. In this paper, we investigate the dilepton signature of the Scotogenic model at a 14…

In this paper, we propose a viable approach to realise two texture-zeros in the scotogenic model with flavor dependent $U(1)_{B-2L_α-L_β}$ gauge symmetry. These models are extended by two right-handed singlets $N_{Ri}$ and two inert scalar doublets $η_{i}$, which are odd under the dark $Z_2$ symmetry. Among all the six constructed textures, texture $A_1$ and $A_2$ are the only two allowed by current experimental limits. Then choosing texture $A_1$ derived from $U(1)_{B-2L_e-L_τ}$, we perform a detail analysis on the corresponding phenomenology such as predictions of neutrino mixing parameters,…
In this paper, we propose a scotogenic model of neutrino masses with flavor-dependent $U(1)_{B-3L_α}(α=e, μ, τ)$ gauge symmetry, in which neutrinos are generated at one-loop level and a fermion dark matter is naturally accommodated. In this model, three one-zero-texture structures of neutrino mass matrix, denoted as patterns A, B and C, are successfully realized by appropriate charge assignment for inert fermions and scalar fields. For each predicted textures, a detailed numerical analysis is carried out to find the allowed regions of neutrino mixing and masses. We find three scenarios (A for …
We propose a flavour theory in which the family symmetry results naturally from a six-dimensional orbifold compactification. "Diracness" of neutrinos is a consequence of the spacetime dimensionality, and the fact that right-handed neutrinos live in the bulk. Dark matter is incorporated in a scotogenic way, as a result of an auxiliary $\mathbb{Z}_3$ symmetry, and its stability is associated to the conservation of a "dark parity" symmetry. The model leads naturally to a "golden" quark-lepton mass relation.
The scotogenic model is a well motivated scenario that provides both an explanation for neutrino masses and for dark matter. We focus on a real scalar dark matter candidate in this model, produced through standard thermal freeze-out. We analyze the parameter space of the model compatible with the observed dark matter relic abundance, direct and indirect detection searches, limits from lepton flavour violating decays and constraints from the neutrino sector. As the mass differences of the dark matter with the neutral and charged states are found to be small, the new scalars and fermions of the …

The notion of U(1) lepton number (which may only be softly broken) is applied to models of dark matter which interacts with leptons. Previous scotogenic models of Majorana or Dirac neutrino mass are shown to be derivable in this framework without additional symmetries. Only complete renormalizable theories are considered. An explicit class of models with $Z_n$ ($n \geq 5$) lepton and dark symmetry for Dirac neutrinos is derived, as well as an example of $Z_3$ dark symmetry.
We study the phenomenology of a model that addresses the neutrino mass, dark matter, and generation of the electroweak scale in a single framework. Electroweak symmetry breaking is realized via the Coleman-Weinberg mechanism in a classically scale invariant theory, while the neutrino mass is generated radiatively through interactions with dark matter in a typically scotogenic manner. The model introduces a scalar triplet and singlet and a vector-like fermion doublet that carry an odd parity of $Z_2$, and an even parity scalar singlet that helps preserve classical scale invariance. We sample ov…
In 2006, a simple extension of the Standard Model was proposed in which neutrinos obtain radiative Majorana masses at one-loop level from their couplings with dark matter, hence the term "scotogenic," from the Greek "scotos" meaning darkness. Here an analogous mechanism for Dirac neutrino masses is discussed in a minimal model. In different ranges of the parameter space, various candidates for dark matter are possible. In particular, the lightest Dirac fermion which appears in the loop diagram generating neutrino mass can be a viable dark matter candidate. Such a possibility does not exist for…

We study a simplest viable dark matter model with a real singlet scalar, vector-like singlet and a doublet lepton. We find a considerable enhancement in the allowed region of the scalar dark matter parameter spaces under the influence of the new Yukawa coupling. The Yukawa coupling associate with the fermion sector heavily dominant the dark matter parameter spaces satisfying the current relic density of the Universe. Dilepton$+\slashed{E}_T$ signature arising from the new fermionic sector can observe at Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We perform such analysis in the context of 14 TeV LHC experime…
We present 48 types of solutions to the anomaly cancellation conditions of local Abelian extensions of the Standard Model (SM) with right-handed singlet chiral fermions. At least two of them acquire effective light Dirac neutrino masses, while the others get heavy masses from the spontaneous symmetry breaking of the local Abelian symmetry, forming a dark sector with multi-component and multi-generational fermionic dark matter. The corresponding effective Dirac neutrino mass operator can be realized at tree-level or radiatively by introducing extra scalars, and in some cases after imposing extr…
In the framework of the scotogenic model, which features radiative generation of neutrino masses, we explore light dark matter scenario. Throughout the paper we chiefly focus on keV-scale dark matter which can be produced either via freeze-in through the decays of the new scalars, or from the decays of next-to-lightest fermionic particle in the spectrum, which is produced through freeze-out. The latter mechanism is required to be suppressed as it typically produces a hot dark matter component. Constraints from BBN are also considered and in combination with the former production mechanism they…
The Standard Model gauge symmetry is extended by $U(1)_{B-L}$ which when spontaneously broken leads to residual $\mathbb{Z}_4$ symmetry. $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge symmetry made anomaly free by introducing exotic SM singlets with corresponding $U(1)_{B-L}$ charges of $13$, $-14$, and $15$. $\mathbb{Z}_4$ symmetry ensures the Dirac nature of neutrinos, simultaneously stabilizing dark matter. Dirac neutrino mass is generated through scotogenic scenario. Dark matter, direct detection, cosmological constraints, and collider constraints analysis is performed. $\mathbb{Z}_4$ symmetry predicts the exact abse…
We scrutinise the widely studied minimal scotogenic model of dark matter (DM) and radiative neutrino mass from the requirement of a strong first order electroweak phase transition (EWPT) and observable gravitational waves at future planned space based experiments. The scalar DM scenario is similar to inert scalar doublet extension of standard model where a strong first order EWPT favours a portion of the low mass regime of DM which is disfavoured by the latest direct detection bounds. In the fermion DM scenario, we get newer region of parameter space which favours strong first order EWPT as th…
Minimalistic Dirac radiative neutrino mass model based on modular symmetry is proposed. We predict maximum number of observables possible including neutrino mass splittings, neutrino mass scale, lepton mixing angles, and Dirac phases in the leptonic sector with minimum number of input parameters possible. Model is capable of accommodating multicomponent dark matter, thanks to the $\emph{R}-$parity and accidental scotogenic $\mathbb{Z}_2$ discrete symmetry. Furthermore, even-though neutrinos are Dirac in our model, matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe is achieved via neutrinogenesis mech…
Dark matter (DM) is usually assumed to be stabilized by a symmetry, which is mostly considered to be $Z_2$. For example, in supersymmetry it is $R$ parity, i.e. $(-1)^{3B+L+2j}$. However, it may be $Z_n$ or $U(1)_D$, and derivable from generalized lepton number. In this context, neutrinos may be Majorana or Dirac, and owe their masses to dark matter, i.e. they are scotogenic.

We propose a "scotogenic" mechanism relating small neutrino mass and cosmological dark matter. Neutrinos are Dirac fermions with masses arising only in two--loop order through the sector responsible for dark matter. Two triality symmetries ensure both dark matter stability and strict lepton number conservation at higher orders. A global spontaneously broken U(1) symmetry leads to a physical $Diracon$ that induces invisible Higgs decays which add up to the Higgs to dark matter mode. This enhances sensitivities to spin-independent WIMP dark matter search below $m_h/2$.
The Peccei-Quinn (PQ) mechanism not only acts as an explanation for the absence of strong CP violation but also can play a main role in the solution to other open questions in particle physics and cosmology. Here we consider a model that identifies the PQ symmetry as a common thread in the solution to the strong CP problem, the generation of radiative Dirac neutrino masses and the origin of a multicomponent dark sector. Specifically, scotogenic neutrino masses arise at one loop level with the lightest fermionic mediator field acting as the second dark matter (DM) candidate thanks to the residu…
We study the possibility of generating tiny Dirac masses of neutrinos in Left-Right Symmetric Model (LRSM) without requiring the existence of any additional symmetries. The charged fermions acquire masses through a universal seesaw mechanism due to the presence of additional vector like fermions. The neutrinos acquire a one-loop Dirac mass from the same additional vector like charged leptons without requiring any additional discrete symmetries. The model can also be extended by an additional $Z_2$ symmetry in order to have a scotogenic version of this scenario predicting a stable dark matter c…
