We prove that a resonance enhancement of neutrino oscillations in magnetic field is possible due to transition magnetic moments and demonstrate that this resonance is strictly connected to the neutrino polarization. To study the main properties of this resonance, we obtain the probabilities of transitions between neutrino states with definite flavor and helicity in inhomogeneous electromagnetic field in the adiabatic approximation. Since the resonance is present only when the adiabaticity condition is fulfilled, we also obtain and discuss this condition.
When neutrinos travel through matter with a periodic density profile, the neutrino oscillation probability can be enhanced if certain conditions are satisfied. In a two-neutrino framework, the condition for parametric resonance is known. Herein, we consider the analogous parametric resonance condition within the context of a full three-neutrino framework with two oscillation scales. For energies in the range of hundreds of MeV to a few GeV, we find that neutrino oscillation can be parametrically enhanced if two approximate relations are satisfied. The first is similar to the two-neutrino param…
In this paper, we study a photon, a massive charged particle, and a massive neutrino passing through matter. The hypothetical left-right symmetric weak interaction, which is used in Wolfenstein's equation can generate the resonance enhancement of neutrino oscillations in matter, which disappears when neutrinos go out into vacuum from matter (the Sun). It is shown that since standard weak interactions cannot generate masses, the laws of conservation of the energy and the momentum of neutrino in matter will be fulfilled only if the energy $W$ of polarization of matter by the neutrino or the corr…
The mechanism of resonance enhancement of neutrino oscillations in matter and some critical remarks to this mechanism are considered. Using of this resonance mechanism is very important to examine the model of electroweak interactions since the processes induced by this mechanism grow multiply. In contrast to the electromagnetic and strong interactions in weak interactions, $P$-parity is violated therefore a problem of mass generations in the weak interactions is considered (the interaction must be left-right symmetric for mass generations). It is concluded that a possibility of mass generatio…
We study the matter enhancement of T violation in neutrino oscillation with three generations. The magnitude of T violation is proportional to Jarlskog factor J. Recently, the elegant relation, (Δ_m)_{12}(Δ_m)_{23}(Δ_m)_{31}J_{m} = Δ_{12}Δ_{23}Δ_{31}J, was derived, where Δ_{ij}=Δm^2_{ij}/(2E) and subscript m implies the quantities in matter. Using this relation, we reconsider how J_m changes as a function of the matter potential a under the approximation |Δm^2_{12}| \ll |Δm^2_{13}|. We show that the number of maxima for J_{m} depends on the magnitude of \sin^2 2 θ_{13} and there are two maxima…
We consider the consequences for future neutrino factory experiments of small CPT-odd interactions in neutrino oscillations. The ν_μ\toν_μand \barν_μ\to\barν_μsurvival probabilities at a baseline L=732 km can test for CPT-odd contributions at orders of magnitude better sensitivity than present limits. Interference between the CPT-violating interaction and CPT-even mass terms in the Lagrangian can lead to a resonant enhancement of the oscillation amplitude. For oscillations in matter, a simultaneous enhancement of both neutrino and antineutrino oscillation amplitudes is possible.
Neutrino oscillations in matter can exhibit a specific resonance enhancement -- parametric resonance, which is different from the MSW resonance. Recently it has been shown that the oscillations of atmospheric and solar neutrinos inside the earth can undergo parametric enhancement when neutrino trajectories cross the core of the earth. In this paper we continue the study of the parametric resonance of neutrino oscillations in the earth. The following issues are discussed: stability of the resonance with respect to the variations of the zenith angle of the neutrino source; higher-order resonance…
We investigate the $ν_e \to ν_μ$ oscillation in the framework of three generations when neutrinos pass through the earth. The oscillation probability is represented by the form, $P(ν_e \to ν_μ)=A\cos δ+B\sin δ+C$ in arbitrary matter profile by using the leptonic CP phase $δ$. We compare our approximate formula in the previous paper with the formula which includes second order terms of $α=Δm_{21}^2/Δm_{31}^2$ and $s_{13}=\sin θ_{13}$. Non-perturbative effects of $α$ and $s_{13}$ can be taken into account in our formula and the precision of the formula is rather improved around the MSW resonance…
Parametric enhancement of the appearance probability of the neutrino oscillation under the inhomogeneous matter is studied. Fourier expansion of the matter density profile leads to a simple resonance condition and manifests that each Fourier mode modifies the energy spectrum of oscillation probability at around the corresponding energy; below the MSW resonance energy, a large-scale variation modifies the spectrum in high energies while a small-scale one does in low energies. In contrast to the simple parametric resonance, the enhancement of the oscillation probability is itself an slow oscilla…
We derive the effective Hamiltonian describing collective oscillations of Majorana neutrinos with a transition magnetic moment, allowing for the presence of scalar and pseudoscalar nonstandard neutrino self-interactions (NSSIs). Using this Hamiltonian, we analyze new flavor instability channels of collective oscillations in a core-collapse supernova environment that open up in the presence of a small but nonzero neutrino magnetic moment. It turns out that, contrary to certain claims in the literature, within the minimally extended Standard Model (i.e., without NSSIs), no new instabilities aris…
Neutrino oscillations in matter can exhibit a specific resonance enhancement -- parametric resonance, which is different from the MSW resonance. Oscillations of atmospheric and solar neutrinos inside the earth can undergo parametric enhancement when neutrino trajectories cross the core of the earth. In this paper we review the parametric resonance of neutrino oscillations in matter. In particular, physical interpretation of the effect and the prospects of its experimental observation in oscillations of solar and atmospheric neutrinos in the earth are discussed.
By resorting to recent results on fermion mixing which show that the Fock space of definite flavor states is unitarily inequivalent to the Fock space of definite mass states, we discuss the phenomenological implications on the neutrino oscillation formula. For finite momentum the oscillation amplitude is depressed, or "squeezed", by a momentum dependent factor. In the relativistic limit the conventional oscillation formula is recovered.
We elucidate the mechanism of enhancement of the $\barν_μ \to \barν_{s}$ transitions at small mixing angles of Earth-core-crossing neutrinos, which is at the basis of the recent result of the IceCube experiment on atmospheric muon anti-neutrino oscillations into sterile anti-neutrino.
We derive an effective neutrino evolution Hamiltonian and corresponding expression for neutrino spin oscillations probabilities accounting for neutrino interactions with external electric current due to neutrino charge radii and anapole moment. The results are interesting for possible applications in astrophysics.
We consider the Lorentz violated extension of the standard model. In this framework, there are terms that explicitly violate CP-symmetry. We examine the CPT-even $d_{μν}$-term to find the electric dipole moment of charged leptons. We show that the form factors besides the momentum transfer, depend on a new Lorentz-scalar, constructing by $d_{μν}$ and the four momenta of the lepton, as well. Such an energy dependence of the electric dipole form factor leads to an enhancement of the lepton electric dipole moment at high energy, even at the zero momentum transfer. We show that at $\frac{|d|p^2}{m…
The one-loop induced magnetic dipole moments of a neutrino are examined in a background of degenerate electrons in the standard model. For the nonrelativistic neutrino, they are enhanced by a factor \( (8\pF/3\mnu) \), where \pF\ is the electron Fermi momentum and \mnu\ the neutrino mass. For the relativistic neutrino, they enhance the flavor-changing but helicity-conserving process because of the absence of the GIM cancellation.
The apparent symmetry between energy and momentum found in all covariant descriptions of neutrino oscillations is destroyed in the neutrino detector, a quantum mechanical system described by a density matrix diagonal in energy but not in momentum. The off diagonal matrix elements between states of different momenta and the same energy produce the coherence and interference between mass eigenstates having the same energy and different momenta that produce oscillations.
GSI experiment studying oscillations in K-capture decay of radioactive ion investigates neutrino masses and mixing without detecting neutrino. Even when neutrino is not detected quantum mechanics relates initial and final states. The basic physics is very simple. Neutrinos emitted in beta decay are coherent linear combinations of states with different masses, different momenta and same energy. Since the weak interaction producing the neutrino conserves momentum, the initial state before the transition must also contain a coherent linear combination of states with the same momentum difference a…
Fractional derivative in time variable is introduced into the Fokker-Planck equation of a population growth model. It's solution, the KNO scaling function, is transformed into the generating function for the multiplicity distribution. Formulas of the factorial moment and the $H_j$ moment are derived from the generating function, which reduces to that of the negative binomial distribution (NBD), if the fractional derivative is replaced to the ordinary one. In our approach, oscillation of $H_j$ moment appears contrary to the case of the NBD. Calculated $H_j$ moments are compared with those given…
We show, via a simple parametrization of the multiplicity distribution of charged particles in e(+)e(-) annihilation at the Z0 peak in terms of the weighted superposition of two negative binomial distributions, that both the shoulder structure in the intermediate multiplicity range and the oscillation in sign of the ratio of factorial cumulants over factorial moments of increasing order are related to hard gluon radiation.
Nuclear forces violating parity and time reversal invariance P,T-odd produce P,T-odd nuclear moments, for example, the nuclear Schiff moment. In turn, this moment can induce the electric dipole moment (EDM) in the atom. The contribution to the Schiff moment from the soft collective quadrupole and octupole vibrations in spherical nuclei is calculated in the framework of the quasiparticle random phase approximation with separable quadrupole and octupole forces. The values of nuclear Schiff moments predicted for odd 217-221Ra and 217-221Ra isotopes indicate a possibility of enhancement by a facto…
We consider elastic antineutrino-electron scattering taking into account possible effects of neutrino masses and mixing and of neutrino magnetic moments and electric dipole moments. Having in mind antineutrinos produced in a nuclear reactor we compute, in particular, the weak-electromagnetic interference terms which are linear in the magnetic (electric dipole) moments and also in the neutrino masses. We show that these terms are, however, suppressed compared to the pure weak and electromagnetic cross section. We also comment upon the possibility of using the electromagnetic cross section to in…
We study the factorial moments (Fq), the factorial cumulants (Kq) and the ratio of Kq to Fq (Hq = Kq=Fq) in pp/pp collisions using an updated approach, in which the multiplicity distribution is related to the eikonal function. The QCD inspired eikonal model adopted contains contributions of quark-quark, quark-gluon and gluon-gluon interactions. Our work shows that the approach can reproduce the collision energy dependence of the Fq moments, correctly predicts that the first minimum of the Hq lies around q = 5 and qualitatively reproduces the oscillations of the Hq moments, as shown in the expe…
We discuss how the measurement of the $\barν_{e}-e^{-}$ elastic cross section at reactor energies can be used to extract new information on the neutrino oscillation parameters. We also consider the magnetic moment contribution and show how both effects tend to cancel each other when the total cross section is measured; to achieve the separation of each of the effects, experiments capable of measuring angular and energy distributions with respect to the outgoing electron become necessary. We study how their different energy and angle dependence enables such a separation; then, the sensitivity t…
We discuss physics of the three neutrino flavor transformation with non-unitary mixing matrix, with particular attention to the correlation between the $ν$SM- and the $α$ parameters which represent effect of unitarity violating (UV) new physics. Toward the goal, a new perturbative framework is created to illuminate the effect of non-unitarity in region of the solar-scale enhanced oscillations. We refute the skepticism about the physical reality of the $ν$SM CP $δ$ - $α$ parameter phase correlation by analysis with the SOL convention of $U_{\text{\tiny MNS}}$ in which $e^{ \pm i δ}$ is attached…
The MSW (Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein) effect is the adiabatic or partially adiabatic neutrino flavor conversion in medium with varying density. The main notions related to the effect, its dynamics and physical picture are reviewed. The large mixing MSW effect is realized inside the Sun providing the solution of the solar neutrino problem. The small mixing MSW effect driven by the 1-3 mixing can be realized for the supernova (SN) neutrinos. Inside the collapsing stars new elements of the MSW dynamics may show up: the non-oscillatory transition, non-adiabatic conversion, time dependent adiabati…
It is proposed that the energy-momentum expectation values of flavor states should be identified with the missing energy-momentum of neutrino processes so that the conservation of energy-momentum can be strictly imposed. It is also observed that there is a plausible condition to express neutrino mixing angles in terms of neutrino masses without invoking symmetries.
Using the recent measurement of SNO salt phase experiment, we investigate how much the solar neutrino flux deficit observed at SNO could be due to $ν_e$ transition into antineutrino. Our analysis leads to rather optimistic conclusion that the SNO salt phase data may indicate the existence of Majorana magnetic moment. The prospect for the future BOREXINO experiment is also discussed.
We show that the effects of neutrino oscillations on 8B solar neutrinos are described well by the first two moments (the average and the variance) of the energy distribution of scattered or recoil electrons. For the SuperKamiokande and the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory experiments, the differences between the moments calculated with oscillations and the standard, no-oscillation moments are greater than 3 standard deviations for a significant fraction of the neutrino mass-mixing (Delta m^2, sin^2 2 theta) parameter space.
The possibility to relate multiplicity distributions and their moments, as measured in the hadronic final state in e(+)e(-) annihilation, to features of the initial partonic state is analyzed from a theoretical and phenomenological point of view. Recent developments on the subject are discussed.
Atmospheric neutrinos at low energies, $E \lsim 500$ MeV, is known to be a rich source of information of lepton mixing parameters. We formulate a simple perturbative framework to elucidate the characteristic features of neutrino oscillation at around the solar-scale enhancement due to the matter effect. The clearest message we could extract from our perturbation theory is that CP violation in the appearance oscillation probability is large, a factor of $\sim 10$ times larger than CP violation at around the atmospheric-scale oscillation maximum. Underlying mechanism for it is that one of the su…
We have investigated matter enhanced neutrino oscillations with a mantle-core-mantle step function and a realistic Earth matter density profile in both a two and a three neutrino scenario. We found that the realistic Earth matter density profile can be well approximated with the mantle-core-mantle step function and that there could be an influence on the oscillation channel $ν_μ\to ν_τ$ due to resonant enhancement of one of the mixing angles.
We consider several subtle aspects of the theory of neutrino oscillations which have been under discussion recently. We show that the $S$-matrix formalism of quantum field theory can adequately describe neutrino oscillations if correct physics conditions are imposed. This includes space-time localization of the neutrino production and detection processes. Space-time diagrams are introduced, which characterize this localization and illustrate the coherence issues of neutrino oscillations. We discuss two approaches to calculations of the transition amplitudes, which allow different physics inter…
Using an effective lagrangian approach, we identify a class of models in which the loop-induced magnetic moment form-factors of muon are enhanced by possibly large factors (Λ^2_F/Λ^2)(m_τ/m_μ)\ln(m_τ^2/Λ^2) or (Λ^2_F/Λ^2)\ln(m_μ^2/Λ^2), where Λis the scale of new physics and Λ_F is the Fermi scale. These follow from left- and right-chirality mixing dimension-8 operators which for relatively small Λ, as required to explain the new (g_μ-2) measurement, dominate over dimension-6 operators. Thus significant enhancement of new physics contributions to (g_μ-2) and, in the presence of intergeneration…
We show that the conditions for total neutrino conversion found in [1] are equivalent to the conditions of maximal depth (parametric resonance) and ($π/2 + πk$) - phase of parametric oscillations. Therefore the effects considered in [1] are a particular case of the parametric resonance in neutrino oscillations. The existence of strong enhancement peaks in transition probability P rather than the condition P=1 is of physical relevance. We comment on possible realizations and implications of the parametric enhancement of neutrino oscillations.
It is shown that particle motion in a bent (straight) crystal is accompanied by particle spin rotation and oscillations that allows to measure the tensor electric and magnetic polarizabilities of nuclei and elementary particles. It is shown that channelling of particles in either straight or bent crystal with the polarized nuclei could be used both to analyze polarization of high energy particles and polarize them.
We demonstrate the non-negligible effect of transition magnetic moments on three-flavor collective oscillations of Majorana neutrinos in the core of type-II supernovae, within the single-angle approximation. We argue that data from a galactic supernova in conjunction with terrestrial experiments can potentially give us clues about the non-zero nature of neutrino transition magnetic moments if these are Majorana fermions, even if their values are as small as those predicted by the Standard Model augmented by nonzero neutrino Majorana masses.
We point out that the length scale associated with the MSW effect is the radius of the Earth. Therefore to verify matter enhancement of neutrino oscillations, it will be necessary to study neutrinos passing through the Earth. For the parameters of MSW solutions to the solar neutrino problem, the only detectable effects occur in a narrow band of energies from 5 to 10 MeV. We propose that serious consideration be given to mounting an experiment at a location within 9.5 degrees of the equator.
We investigate resonance structures in CPT and Lorentz symmetry violating neutrino-antineutrino oscillations in a two generation framework. We work with four non-zero CPT-violating parameters that allow for resonant enhancements in neutrino-antineutrino oscillation phenomena in vacuo which are suitably described in terms of charge conjugation eigenstates of the system. We study the relation between the flavor, charge conjugation and mass eigenbasis of neutrino-antineutrino oscillations and examine the interplay between the available CPT-violating parameter space and possible resonance structur…
The transition magnetic moments of Majorana neutrinos are calculated in grand unified theory (GUT) constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with explicit R-parity violation. It is assumed that neutrinos acquire masses via one-loop (quark-squark and lepton-slepton) radiative corrections. The mixing of squarks, sleptons, and quarks is considered explicitly. The connection between neutrino magnetic moments and the entries of neutrino mass matrix is studied. The current upper limits on neutrino magnetic moments are deduced from the elements of phenomenological neutrino mass matrix,…
Starting from the recognized fact that oscillations of moments with rank and shoulder structure in the multiplicity distribution have the same origin in the full sample of events in e+e- annihilation, we push our investigation to the 2-jet sample level, and argue in favor of the use of the negative binomial multiplicity distribution as the building block of multiparticle production in e+e- annihilation events. It will be shown that this approach leads to definite predictions for the correlation structure, e.g., that correlations are flavour independent.
The combined effect of neutrino flavor oscillations and neutrino magnetic moment on neutrino-electron scattering is discussed. It is shown, that if the tau neutrino has a (large) magnetic moment and can oscillate into a neutrino of another flavor it can be used for a sensitive search for $ν_μ(ν_{e}) \to ν_τ$ neutrino oscillations and the tau neutrino magnetic moment in neutrino -electron scattering experiments. The combined limits on the mixing angles and the tau neutrino magnetic moment $sin^{2}2θ_{μτ}\times μ_{ν_τ}^{2} < 1.1 \times 10^{-18}μ_{B}^{2}$ and $sin^{2}2θ_{eτ}\times μ_{ν_τ}^{2} < 2…
Effects caused by the electron electric dipole moment (EDM) in gadolinium garnets are considered. Experimental studies of these effects could improve current upper limit on the electron EDM by several orders of magnitude. We suggest a consistent theoretical model and perform calculations of observable effects in gadolinium gallium garnet and gadolinium iron garnet. Our calculation accounts for both direct and exchange diagrams.
The shoulder structure of charged particles multiplicity distributions (MD's) in full phase space in $e^+e^-$ annihilation at the $Z_0$ peak and the quasi-oscillatory behavior of the ratio of factorial cumulants over factorial moments, $H_q$, as a function of the order $q$, are quantitatively reproduced within a simple parametrization of the MD in terms of a weighted superposition of two Negative Binomial Distributions, associated to two- and multi-jet production, i.e., to hard gluons radiation.
The goal of this work is to resolve the present controversy in the value of the EDM enhancement factor of Tl. We have carried out several calculations by different high-precision methods, studied previously omitted corrections, as well as tested our methodology on other parity conserving quantities. We find the EDM enhancement factor of Tl to be equal to -573(20). This value is 20% larger than the recently published result of Nataraj et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 106, 200403 (2011)], but agrees very well with several earlier results.
We demonstrate on simple examples that oscillatory behaviour of moments of multiplicity distributions P(n) observed in e^+e^- annihilations, in hadronic pp collisions and in collisions on nuclei, p+A, is to a large extend caused by the experimental artifact of measuring only limited range of P(n). In particular we show that by applying a suitable universal cutt-off procedure to the measured P(n) one gets for reactions mentioned before oscillations of similar magnitude. The location of zeros of oscillations as a function of the rank of moments and their shapes remain, however, distinctively dif…
We study the effect of Majorana transition magnetic moments on the flavor evolution of neutrinos and antineutrinos inside the core of Type-II supernova explosions. We find non-trivial collective oscillation effects relating neutrinos and antineutrinos of different flavors, even if one restricts the discussion to Majorana transition electromagnetic moment values that are not much larger than those expected from standard model interactions and nonzero neutrino Majorana masses. This appears to be, to the best of our knowledge, the only potentially observable phenomenon sensitive to such small val…
The standard model prediction for a magnetic dipole moment of a neutrino is proportional to the neutrino mass and extremely small. It also generates a flavor-changing process, but the GIM mechanism reduces the corresponding amplitude. These properties of a neutrino magnetic moment change drastically in a degenerate electron plasma. We have shown that an electron-hole excitation gives a contribution proportional to the electrons' Fermi momentum. Since this effect is absent in \(μ\) and \(τ\) sector, the GIM cancellation does not work. The magnetic moment induces a neutrino oscillation if a stro…
The theoretical framework of the neutrino electron excitation at low energies including the screening effect in semiconductor detectors is developed for the first time, both in the Standard Model and in the presence of the neutrino magnetic moment. We explore the contribution of the screening effect of semiconductors to the neutrino electron excitation based on the linear response theory and calculate the corresponding numerical results. We show that excitation rates from the neutrino magnetic moment are dramatically enhanced {by} the screening effect and the sensitivity can be significantly i…
In this review, the effect of flavor oscillations on the neutrinos released during supernova explosion after core collapse is described. In some scenarios there are large enhancement of the number of events compared to the no oscillation case. Various other features associated with supernova neutrinos are also discussed.
The electric dipole moment (EDM) enhancement factor of atomic Tl is of considerable interest as it has been used in determining the most accurate intrinsic electron EDM limit to date. However, the value of this quantity varies from $-179$ to $-1041$ in different approximations. In view of the large uncertainties associated with many of these calculations, we have employed the relativistic coupled-cluster theory with single and double excitations and a subset of leading triple excitations and obtained the EDM enhancement factor of Tl as $-466$, which in combination with the most accurate measur…
We propose a new mechanism for baryogenesis at the 1-200 MeV scale. Enhancement of CP violation takes place via interference between oscillations and decays of mesinos--bound states of a scalar quark and antiquark and their CP conjugates. We present the mechanism in a simplified model with four new fundamental particles, with masses between 300 GeV and 10 TeV, and show that some of the experimentally allowed parameter space can give the observed baryon-to-entropy ratio.
Assuming that the observed deficit of solar neutrinos is due to the interaction of their transition magnetic moment with the solar magnetic field we derive the predictions for the forthcoming Borexino experiment. Three different model magnetic field profiles which give very good global fits of the currently available solar neutrino data are used. The expected signal at Borexino is significantly lower than those predicted by the LMA, LOW and VO neutrino oscillation solutions of the solar neutrino problem. It is similar to that of the SMA oscillation solution which, however, is strongly disfavou…
Neutrino oscillations occur due to non-zero masses and mixings and most importantly they are believed to maintain quantum coherence even over astrophysical length scales. In the present study, we explore the quantumness of three flavour neutrino oscillations by studying the extent of violation of Leggett-Garg inequalities (LGI) if non-standard interactions are taken into account. We report an enhancement in violation of LGI with respect to the standard scenario for appropriate choice of NSI parameters.
Recent theoretical work indicates that the neutrino radiation in core-collapse supernovae may be susceptible to flavor instabilities that set in far behind the shock, grow extremely rapidly, and have the potential to profoundly affect supernova dynamics and composition. Here we analyze the nonlinear collective oscillations that are prefigured by these instabilities. We demonstrate that a zero-crossing in $n_{ν_e} - n_{\barν_e}$ as a function of propagation angle is not sufficient to generate instability. Our analysis accounts for this fact and allows us to formulate complementary criteria. Usi…
A description of neutrino oscillation phenomena is presented which is based on relativistic quantum mechanics and includes both entangled state and source dependent aspects, unlike both of the conventional approaches which use either equal energies or equal momenta for the different neutrino mass eigenstates. To second order in the neutrino masses, the standard result is recovered thus showing an absence of source dependence to this order. The time dependence of the wavefunction is found to be crucial to recovering the conventional result. An ambiguity appears at fourth order in the neutrino m…
A theoretical analysis of possible influence of neutrino magnetic moments on the propagation of ultrahigh-energy cosmic neutrinos in the interstellar space is carried out under the assumption of two-neutrino mixing. The exact solution of the effective equation for neutrino evolution in the presence of a magnetic field and matter is obtained, which accounts for four neutrino species corresponding to two different flavor states with positive and negative helicities. Using most stringent astrophysical bounds on the putative neutrino magnetic moment, probabilities of neutrino flavor and spin oscil…
Polyatomic polar molecules are promising systems for future experiments that search for violation of time-reversal and parity symmetries due to their advantageous electronic and vibrational structure, which allows laser cooling, full polarisation of the molecule, and reduction of systematic effects [I. Kozyryev and N.R. Hutzler, Phys, Rev. Lett. {\bf 119}, 133002 (2017)]. In this work we investigate the enhancement factor of the electric dipole moment of the electron ($E_\text{eff}$) in the triatomic monohydroxide molecules BaOH and YbOH within the high-accuracy relativistic coupled cluster me…
It is shown that the $ν_2 \to ν_{e}$ and $ν_μ \to ν_{e}$ ($ν_e \to ν_{μ(τ)}$) transitions respectively of the solar and atmospheric neutrinos in the Earth in the case of $ν_e - ν_{μ(τ)}$ mixing in vacuum, are strongly enhanced by a new type of resonance when the neutrinos cross the Earth core. The resonance is operative at small mixing angles but differs from the MSW one. It is in many respects similar to the electron paramagnetic resonance taking place in a specific configuration of two magnetic fields. The conditions for existence of the new resonance include, in particular, specific constra…
