This work is devoted on the recently introduced Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity in four dimensions. The theory can bypass the Lovelock's theorem and avoids Ostrogradsky instability. The integrated part of this theory is the GB term gives rise to a non-trivial contribution to the gravitational dynamics in the limit $D \to 4$. Our main interest is to explore a class of static and spherically symmetric compact objects made of strange matter in the color flavor locked (CFL) phase, in which all three quark flavors participate to pairing symmetrically. It is therefore natural to ask for compact objects in 4$D$ EGB gravity since, compact stars signatures may be the test-bed to compare new models to the Einstein gravity; on the other hand, this could shed new light on the possible presence of CFL phase in compact stars. This feature may be relevant in view of recent observations claiming the existence of stable compact \emph{quark} stars (hybrid neutron stars or strange stars).
The existence of strange matter in compact stars may pose striking sequels of the various physical phenomena. As an alternative to neutron stars, a new class of compact stars called strange stars should exist if the strange matter hypothesis is true. In the present article, we investigate the possible construction of the strange stars in quark matter phases based on the MIT bag model. We consider scenarios in which strange stars have no crusts. Then we apply two types of equations of state to quantify the mass-radius diagram for static strange star models performing the numerical calculation t…
Strange stars in the color flavor locked phase, as described by a generalization of the phenomenological MIT bag model proposed in the context of color superconductivity, are studied through a model motivated by the semiclassical solutions for hydrostatic equilibrium. Results show that within this framework it is possible to find ultracompact configurations situated between regular compact stars and black holes.
The recent theoretical advance known as the Minimal Geometric Deformation (MGD) method has initiated a renewed interest in investigating higher curvature gravitational effects in relativistic astrophysics. In this work, we model a strange star within the context of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity with the help of the MGD technique. Starting off with the Tolman metric ansatz together with the MIT Bag model equation of state applicable to hadronic matter, anisotropy is introduced via the superposition of the seed source and the decoupled energy-momentum tensor. The solution of the governing system…
We obtain a class of new anisotropic relativistic solution in Einstein Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity with Finch-Skea metric in hydrostatic equilibrium. The relativistic solutions are employed to construct anisotropic stellar models for strange star with MIT Bag equation of state $ p_{r}= \frac{1}{3} \left( ρ- 4 B_{g}\right)$, where $B_{g}$ is the Bag constants. Considering the mass and radius of a known star PSR J0348+0432 we construct stellar models in the framework of higher dimensions. We also predict the mass and radius of stars for different model parameters. The Gauss-Bonnet coupling term (…
Several attempts have been made in the past decades to search for the true ground state of the dense matter at sufficiently large densities and low temperatures via compact astrophysical objects. Focusing on strange stars, we derive the hydrostatic equilibrium assuming a maximally symmetric phase of homogeneous superconducting quark matter called the \textit{color-flavor-locked} (CFL) phase in the background of energy-momentum squared gravity (EMSG). Theoretical and experimental investigations show that strange quark matter (SQM) in a CFL state can be the true ground state of hadronic matter a…
We study relativistic non-rotating stars in the framework of Lovelock gravity. In particular, we consider the Gauss-Bonnet term in a five-dimensional spacetime, and we investigate the impact of the Gauss-Bonnet parameter on properties of the stars, both isotropic and anisotropic. For matter inside the star, we assume a relativistic gas of de-confined massless quarks. We integrate the modified Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations numerically, and we obtain the mass-to-radius profile, the compactness of the star as well as the gravitational red-shift for several values of the Gauss-Bonnet parame…
The detection of gravitational waves (GWs) from the binary neutron star (BNS) has opened a new window on the gravitational wave astronomy. With current sensitivities, detectable signals coming from compact objects like neutron stars turn out to be a crucial ingredient for probing their structure, composition, and evolution. Moreover, the astronomical observations on the pulsars and their mass-radius relations put important constraints on the dense matter equation of state (EoS). In this paper, we consider a homogeneous and unpaired charge-neutral $3$-flavor interacting quark matter with $\math…
The current trend concerning dense matter physics at sufficiently high densities and low temperatures is expected to behave as a degenerate Fermi gas of quarks forming Cooper pairs, namely a color superconductor, in the core of compact objects. In this context, we study the anisotropy of quark stars (QSs) assuming the internal composition to be comprised of homogeneous, charge neutral 3-flavor interacting quark matter with $\mathcal{O}(m_s^4)$ corrections. Using the equation of state (EoS) with the Tolmann-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) structure equations, we perform numerical calculation for quar…
We obtain an exact analytical solution to Einstein's field equations assuming a non-linear equation-of-state and a particular mass function. Our solution describes the interior of anisotropic color flavor locked strange quark stars. All energy conditions are fulfilled, and therefore the solution obtained here is a realistic solution within General Relativity. The mass-to-radius profile is obtained, and the compactness of the star is computed.
In the present paper we investigate the structure of relativistic stars in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity. The mass-radius relations are obtained for realistic hadronic and for strange quark star equations of state, and for a wide range of the Gauss-Bonnet coupling parameter $α$. Even though the deviations from general relativity for nonzero values of $α$ can be large enough, they are still comparable with the variations due to different modern realistic equations of state if we restrict ourselves to moderate value of $α$. That is why the current observations of the neutron star masses and r…
The search for the true ground state of the dense matter remains open since Bodmer, Terazawa and other raised the possibility of stable quarks, boosted by Witten's $strange$ $matter$ hypothesis in 1984. Within this proposal, the strange matter is assumed to be composed of $strange$ quarks in addition to the usual $up$s and $down$s, having an energy per baryon lower than the strangeless counterpart, and even lower than that of nuclear matter. In this sense, neutron stars should actually be strange stars. Later work showed that a paired, symmetric in flavor, color-flavor locked (CFL) state would…
We study the influence of higher curvature effects on stellar structure and conclude that the properties of stars are greatly impacted when such terms are dynamic. In particular the surface gravitational redshift which is connected to the equation of state and also the mass-radius ratio differs greatly from the corresponding values in general relativity as evidenced through our empirical comparisons. A model of a superdense star with strange star equation of state is constructed within the framework of the Einstein--Gauss--Bonnet theory. Under these assumptions large classes of solutions are a…
At sufficiently high densities and low temperatures matter is expected to behave as a degenerate Fermi gas of quarks forming Cooper pairs, namely a color superconductor, as was originally suggested by Alford, Rajagopal and Wilczek [Nuclear Physics B 537, 443 (1999)]. The ground state is a superfluid, an electromagnetic insulator that breaks chiral symmetry, called the color-flavor locked phase. If such a phase occurs in the cores of compact stars, the maximum mass may exceed that of hadronic matter. The gravitational-wave signal GW190814 involves a compact object with mass $2.6{\rm M}_\odot$, …
The LIGO/VIRGO detection of the gravitational waves from a binary merger system, GW170817, has put a clean and strong constraint on the tidal deformability of the merging objects. From this constraint, deep insights can be obtained in compact star equation of states, which has been one of the most puzzling problems for nuclear physicists and astrophysicists. Employing one of the most widely-used quark star EOS model, we characterize the star properties by the strange quark mass ($m_s$), an effective bag constant ($B_{\rm eff}$), the perturbative QCD correction ($a_4$), as well as the gap param…
The present work is to introduce a new kind of modified gravitational theory, named as $f(\mathcal{R,G,T})$ (also $f(\mathcal{R,T,G})$) gravity, where $\mathcal{R}$ is the Ricci scalar, $\mathcal{G}$ is Gauss-Bonnet invariant and $\mathcal{T}$ is the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. With the help of different models in this gravity, we investigate some physical features of different relativistic compact stars. For this purpose, we develop the effectively modified field equations, conservation equation, and the equation of motion for test particle. Then, we check the impact of additional fo…
We study non-rotating and isotropic strange quark stars in Lorentz-violating theories of gravity, and in particular in Hořava gravity and Einstein-æther theory. For quark matter we adopt both linear and non-linear equations of state, corresponding to the MIT bag model and colour flavour locked state, respectively. The new structure equations describing hydrostatic equilibrium generalize the usual Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations of Einstein's general relativity. A dimensionless parameter $ν$ measures the deviation from the standard TOV equations, which are recovered in the limit $ν\r…
