Continuing our earlier work on the application of the Relativistic Generalized Uncertainty Principle (RGUP) to quantum field theories, in this paper we study Quantum Electrodynamics (QED) with minimum length. We obtain expressions for the Lagrangian, Feynman rules and scattering amplitudes of the theory, and discuss their consequences for current and future high energy physics experiments. We hope this will provide an improved window for testing Quantum Gravity effects in the laboratory.
Recently, the authors presented a covariant extension of the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) with a Lorentz invariant minimum length. This opens the way for constructing and exploring the observable consequences of minimum length in Relativistic Quantum Field Theories. In particular, we compute quantum gravity corrections to high energy scattering experiments, which may provide the much needed window of testing minimum length and quantum gravity theories in the laboratory. To this end, we formulate the Lagrangian of Quantum Electrodynamics for a complex scalar fields from the GUP modif…
Thermodynamics of the (2+1)-dimensional Black Hole with non linear Electrodynamics and without Cosmological Constant from the Generalized Uncertainly Principle
Dyonic black hole solutions with spherically symmetric configurations within general relativity are investigated where the source of the gravitational field is Born - Infeld-type electrodynamics. Corrections to Coulomb's law and Reissner - Nordstrom solutions are obtained. From principles of causality and unitarity we find the restriction on electric and magnetic fields. The Hawking temperature and the heat capacity of black holes are obtained. At some event horizons second-order phase transitions take place.
In the framework of the gauge/gravity duality, and in particular of the $AdS_3/CFT_2$ correspondence, we study one-dimensional superconductors analyzing the dual (1+2)-dimensional gravity in the presence of the Einstein-power-Maxwell non-linear Electrodynamics. In the probe limit we compute the critical temperature of the transition as a function of the mass of the scalar field. The computation is performed analytically employing the Rayleigh-Ritz variational principle. The comparison with a power Maxwell field in higher dimensions as well as with the (1+3)-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell theory …
A new model of nonlinear electrodynamics named as \emph{"double-logarithmic"} is introduced and investigated. The theory carries one dimensionful parameter of the $β$ as Born-Infeld electrodynamics. It is shown that the dual symmetry and dilatation (scale) symmetry are broken in the proposed model. The electric field of a point-like charge is derived for this model and it becomes non-singular at the origin and by use of this electric field the static electric energy of a point like charge is calculated. In the presence of an external magnetic field the theory shows the phenomenon known as vacu…
Nonlinear electrodynamics with two dimensional parameters is studied. The range of electromagnetic fields when principles of causality, unitarity and the classical stability hold, are obtained. A singularity of the electric field at the center of charges is absent within our model and there are corrections to the Coulomb law as $r\rightarrow\infty$. The universe inflation takes place in the background of stochastic magnetic fields. The second stage of the universe evolution is the radiation era so that the graceful exit exists. We estimated the spectral index, the tensor-to-scalar ratio, and t…
In this paper, we have investigated the thermodynamics of Schwarzschild black holes using the symmetric generalized uncertainty principle which contains correction terms involving momentum and position uncertainty. We obtain the mass-temperature relation and the heat capacity of the black hole using which we compute the critical and remnant masses. The entropy is found to satisfy the area law upto leading order corrections from the symmetric generalized uncertainty principle.
Various theories of quantum gravity predict the existence of a minimum length scale, which leads to the modification of the standard uncertainty principle to the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). In this paper, we study two forms of the GUP and calculate their implications on the energy of the harmonic oscillator and the Hydrogen atom more accurately than previous studies. In addition, we show how the GUP modifies the Lorentz force law and the time-energy uncertainty principle.
Dyonic and magnetic black holes solutions with spherically symmetric configurations in general relativity are obtained. Black holes possessing electric and magnetic charges are studied where the source of the gravitational field is electromagnetic fields obeying the arcsin-electrodynamics. We find corrections to Coulomb's law and Reissner - Nordström solutions. The principles of causality and unitarity are investigated. We obtain the Hawking temperature and it was shown that at some event horizons there are second-order phase transitions.
In this work we construct several black hole metrics which are consistent with the generalized uncertainty principle logarithmic correction to the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy formula. After preserving the event horizon at the usual position, a singularity at the Planck scale is found. Finally, these geometries are shown to be realized by certain model of nonlinear electrodynamics, which resembles previously studied regular black hole solutions.
After reviewing the meaning of various equivalence principles and the structure of electrodynamics, we give a fairly detailed account of the construction of the light cone and a core metric from the equivalence principle for the photon (no birefringence, no polarization rotation and no amplification/attenuation in propagation) in the framework of linear electrodynamics using cosmic connections/observations as empirical support. The cosmic nonbirefringent propagation of photons independent of energy and polarization verifies the Galileo Equivalence Principle [Universality of Propagation] for ph…
It has been proposed that on (anti)-de Sitter background, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle should be modified by the introduction of a term proportional to the cosmological constant. We show that this modification of the uncertainty principle can be derived straightforwardly from the geometric properties of (anti)-de Sitter spacetime. We also discuss the connection between the so-called extended generalized uncertainty principle and triply special relativity.
We look at the foundations of electromagnetism in this 1st LeCosPA Symposium. For doing this, after some review (constraints on photon mass etc.), we use two approaches. The first one is to formulate a Parametrized Post-Maxwellian (PPM) framework to include QED corrections and a pseudoscalar photon interaction. PPM framework includes lowest corrections to unified electromagnetism-gravity theories based on connection approach. It may also overlap with corrections implemented from generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) when electromagnetism-gravity coupling is considered. We discuss various vac…
