We introduce a notion of c-group, which is a group up to congruence relation and consider the corresponding category. Extensions, actions and crossed modules (c-crossed modules) are defined in this category and the semi-direct product is constructed. We prove that each categorical group gives rise to c-groups and to a c-crossed module, which is a connected, special and strict c-crossed module in the sense defined by us. The results obtained here will be applied in the proof of an equivalence of the categories of categorical groups and connected, special and strict c-crossed modules.
In this paper we study the categories of braided categorical associative algebras and braided crossed modules of associative algebras and we relate these structures with the categories of braided categorical Lie algebras and braided crossed modules of Lie algebras.
In this paper we study the category of braided categorical Leibniz algebras and braided crossed modules of Leibniz algebras and we relate these structures with the categories of braided categorical Lie algebras and braided crossed modules of Lie algebras using the Loday-Pirashvili category.
Prolongations of a group extension can be studied in a more general situation that we call group extensions of the co-type of a crossed module. Cohomology classification of such extensions is obtained by applying the obstruction theory of monoidal functors.
We extend the notion of the nerve of a category for a small class of crossed simplicial groups, explicitly describing them using generators and relations. We do this by first considering a generalised bar construction of a group before looking at twisted versions of some of these nerves. As an application we show how we can use the twisted nerves to give equivariant versions of certain derived stacks.
In this paper we prove that in the context of varieties with Right Existentially Definable Factor Congruences, definability of the property "e and f are complementary central elements", stability by complements and coextensivity of its respective algebraic category, are equivalent.
We prove a general congruence result for bisimilarity in higher-order languages, which generalises previous work to languages specified by a labelled transition system in which programs may occur as labels, and which may rely on operations on terms other than capture-avoiding substitution. This is typically the case for PCF, $λ$-calculus with delimited continuations, and early-style bisimilarity in higher-order process calculi.
We introduce the notion of Whitehead sequence which is defined for a base category together with a system of abstract actions over it. In the classical case of groups and group actions the Whitehead sequences are precisely the crossed-modules of groups. For a general setting we give sufficient conditions for the existence of a categorical equivalence between internal groupoids and Whitehead sequences.
In (B-Gran, 2004), was given a categorical formulation of the Shifting Lemma which is a characterization of the Congruence Modular Varieties among all the variety of Universal Algebra, introduced in (Gumm, 1983). Starting from a characterization of this Shifting Lemma by a property of the fibers of the fibration of points $¶\EE$ (B, 2005), on the model of what happens for Mal'tsev categories, we shall investigate three directions:\\ 1) a new one: in following the golden thread of abelian split epimorphisms naturally provided by this characterization;\\ 2) a more or less expected one: in measur…
We consider the categorical equivalence between crossed modules over groupoids and double groupoids with thin structures; and by this equivalence, we prove how normality and quotient concepts are related in these two categories and give some examples of these objects.
In this paper using split extensions of group-groupoids we obtain the notion of crossed modules over group-grouoids which are also called 2-groups and we prove a categorical equivalence of these types of crossed modules and double group-groupoids which are internal to the category of group-groupoids. This equivalence enables us to produce more examples of double groupoids.
In this study, we interpret the notion of homotopy of morphisms in the category of crossed modules in a category $\mathsf{C}$ of groups with operations using the categorical equivalence between crossed modules and internal categories in $\mathsf{C}$. Further, we characterize the derivations of crossed modules in a category $\mathsf{C}$ of groups with operations and obtain new crossed modules using regular derivations of old one.
In the context of internal crossed modules over a fixed base object in a given semi-abelian category, we use the non-abelian tensor product in order to prove that an object is perfect (in an appropriate sense) if and only if it admits a universal central extension. This extends results of Brown-Loday (in the case of groups) and Edalatzadeh (in the case of Lie algebras). Our aim is to explain how those results can be understood in terms of categorical Galois theory: Edalatzadeh's interpretation in terms of quasi-pointed categories applies, but a more straightforward approach based on the theory…
We show that the Peiffer commutator previously defined by Cigoli, Mantovani and Metere can be used to characterize central extensions of precrossed modules with respect to the subcategory of crossed modules in any semi-abelian category satisfying an additional property. We prove that this commutator also characterizes double central extensions, obtaining then some Hopf formulas for the second and third homology objects of internal precrossed modules.
The Yang-Baxter equation plays a fundamental role in various areas of mathematics. Its solutions, called braidings, are built, among others, from Yetter-Drinfel'd modules over a Hopf algebra, from self-distributive structures, and from crossed modules of groups. In the present paper these three sources of solutions are unified inside the framework of Yetter-Drinfe' d modules over a braided system. A systematic construction of braiding structures on such modules is provided. Some general categorical methods of obtaining such generalized Yetter-Drinfel'd (=GYD) modules are described. Among the b…
