We introduce natural deformation classes of generalized Kähler structures using the Courant symmetry group. We show that these yield natural extensions of the notions of Kähler class and Kähler cone to generalized Kähler geometry. Lastly we show that the generalized Kähler-Ricci flow preserves this generalized Kähler cone, and the underlying real Poisson tensor.
The aim of the paper is to investigate the rigidity and the deformability of pseudoholomorphic curves in the nearly K{ä}hler sphere $\mathbb{S}^6,$ among minimal surfaces in spheres. Under various assumptions we describe the moduli space of all noncongruent minimal surfaces $f\colon M\to\mathbb{S}^n$ that are isometric to a pseudoholomorphic curve in $\mathbb{S}^6.$ Moreover, we prove a Schur type theorem (see \cite[p. 36]{Chnew}) for minimal surfaces in spheres.
We study pluripotential complex Monge-Ampère flows in big cohomology classes on compact K{ä}hler manifolds. We use the Perron method, considering pluripotential subsolutions to the Cauchy problem. We prove that, under natural assumptions on the data, the upper envelope of all subsolutions is continuous in space and semi-concave in time, and provides a unique pluripotential solution with such regularity. We apply this theory to study pluripotential K{ä}hler-Ricci flows on compact K{ä}hler manifolds of general type as well as on stable varieties.
Extending DiNezza-Lu's approach to the setting of big cohomology classes, we prove that solutions of degenerate complex Monge-Amp{è}re equations on compact K{ä}hler manifolds are continuous on a Zariski open set. This allows us to show that singular K{ä}hler-Einstein metrics on log canonical varieties of general type have continuous potentials on the ample locus outside of the non-klt part.
I have chosen, in this presentation of Deformation Quantization, to focus on 3 points: the uniqueness --up to equivalence-- of a universal star product (universal in the sense of Kontsevich) on the dual of a Lie algebra, the cohomology classes introduced by Deligne for equivalence classes of differential star products on a symplectic manifold and the construction of some convergent star products on Hermitian symmetric spaces. Those subjects will appear in a promenade through the history of existence and equivalence in deformation quantization.
In this paper, we study deformations of complex structures on Lie algebras and its associated deformations of Dolbeault cohomology classes. A complete deformation of complex structures is constructed in a way similar to the Kuranishi family. The extension isomorphism is shown to be valid in this case. As an application, we prove that given a family of left invariant deformations $\{M_t\}_{t\in B}$ of a compact complex manifold $M=(Γ\setminus G, J)$ where $G$ is a Lie group, $Γ$ a sublattice and $J$ a left invariant complex structure, the set of all $t\in B$ such that the Dolbeault cohomology o…
We show that if the structure algebra of a Riemannian foliation F on a closed manifold M is nilpotent, then the integral of the Álvarez class of (M,F) along every closed path is the exponential of an algebraic number. By this result and the continuity of the Álvarez class under deformations shown in arXiv:1009.1098v2, we prove that the Álvarez class and the geometrically tautness of Riemannian foliations on a closed manifold M are invariant under deformation, if the fundamental group of M has polynomial growth.
The conformal properties of complex Finsler metrics are studied. We give a characterization of a compact complex Finsler manifold to be globally conformal Kähler. The critical points of the total holomorphic curvature and total Ricci curvature in the volume preserved conformal classes are studied. The stability of critical Kähler Finsler metrics is obtained. A Yamabe type problem for mean Ricci curvature is considered.
We prove that, for some classes of complex nilmanifolds, the Bott-Chern cohomology is completely determined by the Lie algebra associated to the nilmanifold with the induced complex structure. We use these tools to compute the Bott-Chern and Aeppli cohomologies of the Iwasawa manifold and of its small deformations, completing the computations in arXiv:0709.3528v1 [math.AG] by M. Schweitzer.
In this paper, we establish a deformation theory for Dolbeault cohomology classes valued in holomorphic tensor bundles. We prove the extension equation which will play the role of Maurer-Cartan equation. Following the classical theory of Kodaira-Spencer-Kuranishi, we construct a canonical complete family of deformations by using the power series method. We also prove a simple relation between the existence of deformations and the varying of the dimensions of Dolbeault cohomology. The deformations of $(p,q)$-forms is shown to be unobstructed under some mild conditions. By analyzing Nakamura's e…
In this article, I prove the following statement: Every compact complex surface with even first Betti number is deformation equivalent to one which admits an extremal Kähler metric. In fact, this extremal Kähler metric can even be taken to have constant scalar curvature in all but two cases: the deformation equivalence classes of the blow-up of $\p_2$ at one or two points. The explicit construction of compact complex surfaces with constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics in different deformation equivalence classes is given. The main tool repeatedly applied here is the gluing theorem of C. Are…
We review the relations between compact complex manifolds carrying various types of Hermitian metrics (Kähler, balanced or {\it strongly Gauduchon}) and those satisfying the $\partial\bar\partial$-lemma or the degeneration at $E_1$ of the Frölicher spectral sequence, as well as the behaviour of these properties under holomorphic deformations. The emphasis will be placed on the notion of {\it strongly Gauduchon} (sG) manifolds that we introduced recently in the study of deformation limits of projective and Moishezon manifolds. Various examples of sG and non-sG manifolds are exhibited while a ra…
We study how a gluing construction, which produces compact manifolds with holonomy G_2 from matching pairs of asymptotically cylindrical G_2-manifolds, behaves under deformations. We show that the gluing construction defines a smooth map from a moduli space of gluing data to the moduli space of torsion-free G_2-structures on the glued manifold, and that this is a local diffeomorphism. We use this to partially compactify the moduli space of torsion-free G_2-structures, including it as the interior of a topological manifold with boundary. The boundary points are equivalence classes of matching p…
The group action which defines the moduli problem for the deformation space of flat affine structures on the two-torus is the action of the affine group $\Aff(2)$ on $\bbR^2$. Since this action has non-compact stabiliser $\GL(2,\bbR)$, the underlying locally homogeneous geometry is highly non-Riemannian. In this article, we describe the deformation space of all flat affine structures on the two-torus. In this context interesting phenomena arise in the topology of the deformation space, which, for example, is \emph{not} a Hausdorff space. This contrasts with the case of constant curvature metri…
We formulate an isoperimetric deformation of curves on the Minkowski plane, which is governed by the defocusing mKdV equation. Two classes of exact solutions to the defocusing mKdV equation are also presented in terms of the $τ$ functions. By using one of these classes, we construct an explicit formula for the corresponding motion of curves on the Minkowski plane even though those solutions have singular points. Another class give regular solutions to the defocusing mKdV equation. Some pictures illustrating typical dynamics of the curves are presented.
The deformation of a variety $X$ to the normal cone of a subvariety $Y$ is a classical construction in algebraic geometry. In this paper we study the case when $(X,ω)$ is a compact Kähler manifold and $Y$ is a submanifold. The deformation space $\mathcal{X}$ is fibered over $\mathbb{P}^1$ and all the fibers $X_τ$ are isomorphic to $X$, except the zero-fiber, which has the projective completion of the normal bundle $N_{Y|X}$ as one of its components. The first main result of this paper is that one can find Kähler forms on modifications of $\mathcal{X}$ which restricts to $ω$ on $X_1$ and which …
We introduce a canonical isomorphism from the space of pure-type complex differential forms on a compact complex manifold to the one on its infinitesimal deformations. By use of this map, we generalize an extension formula in a recent work of K. Liu, X. Yang and the second author. As a direct corollary of the extension formulas, we prove several deformation invariance theorems for Hodge numbers on some certain classes of complex manifolds, without use of Frölicher inequality or the topological invariance of Betti numbers.
We show that the Hochschild cohomology of the algebra obtained by formal deformation quantization on a symplectic manifold is isomorphic to the formal series with coefficients in the de Rham cohomology of the manifold. The cohomology class obtained by differentiating the star-product with respect to the deformation parameter is seen to be closely related to the characteristic class of the quantization. A fundamental role in the analysis is played by ``quantum Liouville operators,'' which rescale the deformation parameter in the same way in which Liouville vector fields scale the Poisson struct…
This paper concerns with deformations of noncompact complex hyperbolic manifolds (with locally Bergman metric), varieties of discrete representations of their fundamental groups into $PU(n,1)$ and the problem of (quasiconformal) stability of deformations of such groups and manifolds in the sense of L.Bers and D.Sullivan. Despite Goldman-Millson-Yue rigidity results for such complex manifolds of infinite volume, we present different classes of such manifolds that allow non-trivial (quasi-Fuchsian) deformations and point out that such flexible manifolds have a common feature being Stein spaces. …
We study Ricci flows of some classes of physically valuable solutions in Einstein and string gravity. The anholonomic frame method is applied for generic off-diagonal metric ansatz when the field/ evolution equations are transformed into exactly integrable systems of partial differential equations. The integral varieties of such solutions, in four and five dimensional gravity, depend on arbitrary generation and integration functions of one, two and/ or three variables. Certain classes of nonholonomic frame constraints allow us to select vacuum and/or Einstein metrics, to generalize such soluti…
We consider non-infinitesimal deformations of G2-structures on 7-dimensional manifolds and derive an exact expression for the torsion of the deformed G2-structure. We then specialize to a case when the deformation is defined by a vector v and we explicitly derive the expressions for the different torsion components of the new G2-structure in terms of the old torsion components and derivatives of v. In particular this gives a set of differential equations for the vector v which have to be satisfied for a transition between G2-structures with particular torsions. For some specific torsion classe…
We describe the generalized Kuranishi spaces of solvmanifolds with left-invariant complex structures. By using such description, we study the stability of left-invariantness of deformed generalized complex structures and smoothness of generalized Kuranishi spaces on certain classes of solvmanifolds. We also give explicit finite dimensional cohcain complexes which computes the holomorphic Poisson cohomology of nilmanifolds and solvmanifolds.
Extensions of the generalized Weierstrass representation to generic surfaces in 4D Euclidean and pseudo-Euclidean spaces are given. Geometric characteristics of surfaces are calculated. It is shown that integrable deformations of such induced surfaces are generated by the Davey -Stewartson hierarchy. Geometrically these deformations are characterized by the invariance of an infinite set of functionals over surface. The Willmore functional (the total squared mean curvature) is the simplest of them. Various particular classes of surfaces and their integrable deformations are considered.
The problem on the minimal number (with respect to deformation) of intersection points of two closed curves on a surface is solved. Following the Nielsen approach, we define classes of intersection points and essential classes of intersection points, which "are preserved under deformation" and whose total number is called the Nielsen number. If each Nielsen class consists of a unique point and has a non-vanishing index after a suitable deformation of the pair of curves, one says that {\it the Wecken property holds}. We compute the minimal number of intersection points in terms of the Nielsen n…
We use twistor methods to promote Namikawa's universal Poisson deformations of conic affine symplectic singularities to families of hyperkähler structures deforming hyperkähler cone metrics. The metrics we produce are generally incomplete, but for specific classes of hyperkähler cones, even these incomplete metrics have some interest and applications: we study in detail the case of the nilpotent cone of a simple complex Lie algebra, with applications to hyperkähler metrics with symmetries and hyperkähler quotients, and the case of Kleinian singularities, with applications to codimension-4 sing…
