We prove the existence of a semiflow selection with range the space of càglàd, i.e. left--continuous and having right--hand limits functions defined on $[0,\infty)$ and taking values in a Hilbert space. Afterwards, we apply this abstract result to the system arising from a compressible viscous fluid with a barotropic pressure of the type $a\varrho^γ$, $γ\geq 1$, with a viscous stress tensor being a nonlinear function of the symmetric velocity gradient.

We study the large-time behavior of solutions to the compressible Navier-Stokes equations for a viscous and heat-conductive gases in $\mathbb{R}^3$. More precisely, under a suitable additional condition involving only the low frequencies of the initial data, we exhibit the optimal time decay rates for the constructed global solutions. The proof relies on some new energy arguments developed by Xin and Xu [39] for the compressible Navier-Stokes equations.

We establish the local existence theory of unique strong solution under some initial layer compatibility conditions. The initial data can be arbitrarily large, the initial density is allowed to vanish in any set and the far field state is assumed to be vacuum.
This paper is concerned with the large-time behavior of solutions for the one-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes system. We show that the combination of viscous contact wave with rarefaction waves for the non-isentropic polytropic gas is stable under \emph{large} initial perturbation without the condition that the adiabatic exponent $γ$ is close to 1, provided the strength of the combination waves is suitably small.

In this paper we study the interaction of a small rigid body in a viscous compressible fluid. The system occupies a bounded three dimensional domain. The object it allowed to freely move and its dynamics follows the Newton's laws. We show that as the size of the object converges to zero the system fluid plus rigid body converges to the compressible Navier-Stokes system under some mild lower bound on the mass and the inertia momentum. This paper is concerned with the inflow problem for the one-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes equations. For such a problem, F. M. Huang, A. Matsumura and X. D. Shi showed that there exists viscous shock wave solution to the inflow problem and both the boundary layer solution, the viscous shock wave, and their superposition are time-asymptotically nonlinear stable under small initial perturbation. The present paper considers a homogeneous bubble inside an unbounded polytropic compressible liquid with viscosity. The system is governed by the Navier-Stokes equation with free boundary which is determined by the kinematic and dynamic boundary conditions on the bubble-liquid interface. The global existence of solution is proved, and the $\dot{H}^1$ asymptotic stability of the spherical equilibrium in terms of viscous damping together with a explicit decay rate is given in bare energy methods.
We consider a system of equations governing the motion of a viscous, compressible, and heat conducting liquid-like fluid, with a general EOS of Mie-Grueneisen type. In addition, we suppose that the viscosity coefficients may decay to zero for large values of the temperature. We show the existence of global-in-time weak solution, derive a relative energy inequality, and compare the weak solutions with strong one emanating from the same initial data - the weak strong uniqueness property.
We provide a Serrin type blow-up criterion for the 3-D viscous compressible flows with large external potential force. For the Cauchy problem of the 3-D compressible Navier-Stokes system with potential force term, it can be proved that the strong solution exists globally if the velocity satisfies the Serrin's condition and the sup-norm of the density is bounded. Furthermore, in the case of isothermal flows with no vacuum, the Serrin's condition on the velocity can be removed from the claimed criterion.

It is assumed that a fluid occupies a bounded domain and satisfies the no-slip boundary condition. We consider a boundary-value problem describing the steady motion of a two-component mixture of viscous compressible heat-conducting fluids in a bounded domain. We make no simplifying assumptions except for postulating the coincidence of phase temperatures (which is physically justified in certain situations), that is, we retain all summands in equations that are a natural generalization of the Navier-Stokes-Fourier model of the motion of a one-component medium. We prove the existence of weak generalized solutions of the problem.
This paper is concerned with the time-asymptotic behavior of strong solutions to an initial-boundary value problem of the compressible Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system on the half line $\mathbb{R}^+$. This paper is concerned with the asymptotic stability of a composite wave of two viscous shocks under spatially periodic perturbations for the 1-D full compressible Navier-Stokes equations. It is proved that as time increases, the solution approaches the background composite wave with a shift for each shock, where the shifts can be uniquely determined if both the periodic perturbations and strengths of two shocks are small. The key of the proof is to construct a suitable ansatz such that the anti-derivative method works.
We study the large-time behavior of solutions to the compressible Navier-Stokes equations for a viscous and heat-conducting ideal polytropic gas in the one-dimensional half-space. A rarefaction wave and its superposition with a non-degenerate stationary solution are shown to be asymptotically stable for the outflow problem with large initial perturbation and general adiabatic exponent.
We investigate global well-posedness to the Cauchy problem of three-dimensional compressible viscous and heat-conducting micropolar fluid equations with zero density at infinity. By delicate energy estimates, we establish global existence and uniqueness of strong solutions under some smallness condition depending only on the parameters appeared in the system and the initial mass. In particular, the initial mass can be arbitrarily large. This improves our previous work [23]. Moreover, we also generalize the result [13] to the case that vacuum is allowed at infinity.

In this paper we study the interaction problem between a nonlinear thermoelastic plate and a compressible viscous fluid with the adiabatic constant $γ>12/7$. The existence of a weak solution for this problem is obtained by constructing a time-continuous operator splitting scheme that decouples the fluid and the structure. We study a singular limit for the compressible Navier-Stokes system when the Mach and Rossby numbers are proportional to certain powers of a small parameter $\ep$. If the Rossby number dominates the Mach number, the limit problem is represented by the 2-D incompressible Navier-Stokes system describing the horizontal motion of vertical averages of the velocity field. If they are of the same order then the limit problem turns out to be a linear, 2-D equation with a unique radially symmetric solution. The effect of the centrifugal force is taken into account.

Extending our previous results for artificial viscosity systems, we show, under suitable spectral hypotheses, that shock wave solutions of compressible Navier--Stokes (cNS) and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations undergo Hopf bifurcation to nearby time-periodic solutions.
