The GaV$_4$S$_{8-y}$Se$_y$ $(y = 0$ to $8)$ family of materials have been synthesized in both polycrystalline and single crystal form, and their structural and magnetic properties thoroughly investigated. Each of these materials crystallizes in the $F\bar{4}3m$ space group at ambient temperature. However, in contrast to the end members GaV$_4$S$_8$ and GaV$_4$Se$_8$, that undergo a structural transition to the $R3m$ space group at 42 and 41 K respectively, the solid solutions $(y = 1$ to $7)$ retain cubic symmetry down to 1.5 K. In zero applied field the end members of the family order ferromagnetically at 13 K (GaV$_4$S$_8$) and 18 K (GaV$_4$Se$_8$), while the intermediate compounds exhibit a spin-glass-like ground state. We demonstrate that the magnetic structure of GaV$_4$S$_8$ shows localization of spins on the V cations, indicating that a charge ordering mechanism drives the structural phase transition. We conclude that the observation of both structural and ferromagnetic transitions in the end members of the series in zero field is a prerequisite for the stabilization of a skyrmion phase, and discuss how the absence of these transitions in the $y = 1$ to $7$ materials can be explained by their structural properties.
We report the feasibility of using magnetoentropic mapping for the rapid identification of magnetic cycloid and skyrmion phases in uniaxial systems, based on the GaV4S8 and GaV4Se8 model skyrmion hosts with easy-axis and easy-plane anisotropies respectively. We show that these measurements can be interpreted with the help of a simple numerical model for the spin Hamiltonian to yield unambiguous assignments for both single phase regions and phase boundaries. In the two lacunar spinel chemistries, we obtain excellent agreement between the measured magnetoentropic features and a minimal spin Hami…
GaV$_4$S$_8$ is a multiferroic semiconductor hosting magnetic cycloid (Cyc) and Néel-type skyrmion lattice (SkL) phases with a broad region of thermal and magnetic stability. Here, we use time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr spectroscopy and micro-magnetic simulations to demonstrate the coherent generation of collective spin excitations in the Cyc and SkL phases driven by an optically-induced modulation of uniaxial anisotropy. Our results shed light on spin-dynamics in anisotropic materials hosting skyrmions and pave a new pathway for the optical control of their magnetic order.
The orientation of Néel-type skyrmions in the lacunar spinels GaV$_4$S$_8$ and GaV$_4$Se$_8$ is tied to the polar axes of their underlying crystal structure through the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. In these crystals, the skyrmion lattice phase exists for externally applied magnetic fields parallel to these axes and withstands oblique magnetic fields up to some critical angle. Here, we map out the stability of the skyrmion lattice phase in both crystals as a function of field angle and magnitude using dynamic cantilever magnetometry. The measured phase diagrams reproduce the major feature…
We present the results of a muon-spin spectroscopy investigation of GaV$_4$S$_{8-y}$Se$_{y}$ with $y=0, 2, 4$ and 8. Zero-field measurements suggest that GaV$_{4}$Se$_{8}$ and GaV$_{4}$S$_{8}$ have distinct magnetic ground states, with the latter material showing an anomalous temperature-dependence of the local magnetic field. It is not possible to evolve the magnetic state continuously between these two systems, with the intermediate $y=2$ and $4$ materials showing glassy magnetic behaviour at low temperature. The skyrmion lattice (SkL) phase is evident in the $y=0$ and 8 materials through an…
Polycrystalline members of the GaV$_4$S$_{8-y}$Se$_y$ family of materials with small levels of substitution between $0 \leq y \leq 0.5$ and $7.5 \leq y\leq 8$ have been synthesized in order to investigate their magnetic and structural properties. Substitutions to the skyrmion hosting parent compounds GaV$_4$S$_8$ and GaV$_4$Se$_8$, are found to suppress the temperature of the cubic to rhombohedral structural phase transition that occurs in both end compounds and to create a temperature region around the transition where there is a coexistence of these two phases. Similarly, the magnitude of th…
The lacunar spinel GaV4S8 exhibits orbital ordering at 44 K and shows a complex magnetic phase diagram below 12.7 K, which includes ferromagnetic and cycloidal spin order. At low but finite external magnetic fields, Néel-type skyrmions are formed in this material. Skyrmions are whirl-like spin vortices that have received great theoretical interest because of their non-trivial spin topology and that are also considered as basic entities for new data-storage technologies. Interestingly, we found that the orbitally ordered phase shows sizable ferroelectric polarization and that excess spin-driven…
Propagation character of spin wave was investigated for chiral magnets FeGe and Co-Zn-Mn alloys, which can host magnetic skyrmions near room temperature. On the basis of the frequency shift between counter-propagating spin waves, the magnitude and sign of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction were directly evaluated. The obtained magnetic parameters quantitatively account for the size and helicity of skyrmions as well as their materials variation, proving that the DM interaction plays a decisive role in the skyrmion formation in this class of room-temperature chiral magnets. The propagating s…
Broadband microwave spectroscopy has been performed on single-crystalline GaV$_4$S$_8$, which exhibits a complex magnetic phase diagram including cycloidal, Néel-type skyrmion lattice, as well as field-polarized ferromagnetic phases below 13 K. At zero and small magnetic fields two collective modes are found at 5 and 15 GHz, which are characteristic of the cycloidal state in this easy-axis magnet. In finite fields, entering the skyrmion lattice phase, the spectrum transforms into a multi-mode pattern with absorption peaks near 4, 8, and 15 GHz. The spin excitation spectra in GaV$_4$S$_8$ and t…
Following the early prediction of the skyrmion lattice (SkL) - a periodic array of spin vortices - it has been observed recently in various magnetic crystals mostly with chiral structure. Although non-chiral but polar crystals with C$_{nv}$ symmetry were identifed as ideal SkL hosts in pioneering theoretical studies this archetype of SkL has remained experimentally unexplored. Here, we report the discovery of a SkL in the polar magnetic semiconductor GaV$_4$S$_8$ with rhombohedral (C$_{3v}$) symmetry and easy axis anisotropy. The SkL exists over an unusually broad temperature range compared wi…
We report on the slow magnetization dynamics observed upon the magnetic phase transitions of GaV4S8, a multiferroic compound featuring a long-ranged cycloidal magnetic order and a Néel-type skyrmion lattice in a relatively broad temperature range below its Curie temperature. The fundamental difference between GaV4S8 and the chiral helimagnets, wherein the skyrmion phase was first discovered, lies within the polar symmetry of GaV4S8, promoting a cycloidal instead of a helical magnetic order and rendering the magnetic phase diagram essentially different from that in the cubic helimagnets. Our ac…
We report small-angle neutron scattering studies of the lacunar spinel GaV$_4$S$_8$, which reveal the long-wavelength magnetic states to be cycloidally modulated. This provides direct support for the formation of Néel-type skyrmions recently claimed to exist in this compound. In striking contrast with all other bulk skyrmion host materials, upon cooling the modulated magnetic states transform into a ferromagnetic state. These results indicate all of the modulated states in GaV$_4$S$_8$, including the skyrmion state, gain their stability from thermal fluctuations, while at lower temperature the…
We investigate the spin rotational structure of magnetic skyrmions in a tetragonal polar magnet VOSe2O5 via polarized small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). Spin polarization analysis of the scattered neutrons provides consistent evidence for the cycloidal spin modulation in all the incommensurate phases at zero and non-zero magnetic field along the c axis, including the triangular skyrmion-lattice phase. In the vicinity of the skyrmion phase, we performed extensive SANS measurements to unravel a field-induced incommensurate phase (IC-2 state). We discuss the possibility of anisotropic double-…
We present magnetization and muon-spin spectroscopy measurements of Néel skyrmion-host GaV$_4$S$_8$ under the application of hydrostatic pressures up to $P=2.29$ GPa. Our results suggest that the magnetic phase diagram is altered with pressure via a reduction in the crossover temperature from the cycloidal (C) to ferromagnetic-like state with increasing $P$, such that, by 2.29 GPa, the C state appears to persist down to the lowest measured temperatures. With the aid of micromagnetic simulations, we propose that the driving mechanism behind this change is a reduction in the magnetic anisotropy …
We present an investigation of the influence of low-levels of chemical substitution on the magnetic ground state and N{\' e}el skyrmion lattice (SkL) state in GaV$_4$S$_{8-y}$Se$_y$, where $y =0, 0.1, 7.9$, and $8$. Muon-spin spectroscopy ($μ$SR) measurements on $y=0$ and 0.1 materials reveal the magnetic ground state consists of microscopically coexisting incommensurate cycloidal and ferromagnetic environments, while chemical substitution leads to the growth of localized regions of increased spin density. $μ$SR measurements of emergent low-frequency skyrmion dynamics show that the SkL exists …
Skyrmions are whirl like topological spin objects with high potential for future magnetic data storage. It is a fundamental question, relevant for both basic research and application, if a ferroelectric (FE) polarization can be associated with their magnetic texture and if these objects can be manipulated by electric fields. Here, we study the interplay between magnetism and electric polarization in the lacunar spinel GaV4S8, which undergoes a structural transition associated with orbital ordering at 44 K and reveals a complex magnetic phase diagram below 13 K, including a ferromagnetic (FM), …
A room-temperature skyrmion-hosting compound Co$_8$Zn$_8$Mn$_4$ has been examined by means of soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy, resonant small-angle scattering and extended reference holography. An element-selective study was performed by exciting the $2p$-to-$3d$ transitions near Co and Mn $L_{2,3}$ absorption edges. By utilizing the coherence of soft X-ray beams the element-specific real-space distribution of local magnetization at different temperatures has been reconstructed using iterative phase retrieval and holography with extended reference. It was shown that the magnetic moments of …
We report on the anomalous magnetization dynamics of the cycloidally-modulated spin textures under the influence of uniaxial anisotropy in multiferroic $\mathrm{GaV_4S_8}$. The temperature and field dependence of the linear ac susceptibility [$χ_{1ω}^{\prime}(T,H)$], ac magnetic loss [$χ_{1ω}^{\prime\prime}(T,H)$], and nonlinear ac magnetic response [$M_{3ω}(T,H)$] are examined across the magnetic phase diagram in the frequency range $f = 10-10000$ Hz. According to recent theory, skyrmion vortices under axial crystal symmetry are confined along specific orientations, resulting in enhanced robu…
The lacunar spinel GaV$_{4}$S$_{8}$ was recently suggested to be a prototype multiferroic material hosting skyrmion lattice states with a sizeable polarization $\boldsymbol{P}$ coupled to magnetic order. We explain this phenomenon on the microscopic level. On the basis of density functional theory, we construct an effective model describing the behavior of magnetically active electrons in a weakly coupled lattice formed by molecular orbitals of the (V$_{4}$S$_{4}$)$^{5+}$ clusters. By applying superexchange theory combined with the Berry-phase theory for $\boldsymbol{P}$, we derive a compass m…
Cu2OSeO3 is known as a unique example of insulating multiferroic compounds with skyrmion spin texture, which is characterized by the chiral cubic crystal structure at ambient pressure. Recently, it has been reported that this compound shows pressure-induced structural transition with large enhancement of magnetic ordering temperature Tc. In the present study, we have investigated the detailed crystal structure in the high pressure phase, by combining the synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiment with the diamond anvil cell and the analysis based on the genetic algorithm. Our results suggest tha…
Polar lacunar spinels, such as GaV$_4$S$_8$ and GaV$_4$Se$_8$, were proposed to host skyrmion phases under magnetic field. In this work, we put forward, as a candidate for Néel-type skyrmion lattice, the isostructural GaMo$_4$S$_8$, here systematically studied via both first-principles calculations and Monte Carlo simulations of model Hamiltonian. Electric polarization, driven by Jahn-Teller distortion, is predicted to arise in GaMo$_4$S$_8$, showing a comparable size but an opposite sign with respect to that evaluated in V-based counterparts and explained in terms of different electron counti…

We show how low-energy electronic models derived from the first-principles electronic structure calculations can help to rationalize the magnetic properties of two lacunar spinel compounds GaM4S8 with light (M=V) and heavy (M=Mo) transition-metal elements, which are responsible for different spin-orbit interaction strength. In the model, each magnetic lattice point was associated with the M4S4 molecule, and the model itself was formulated in the basis of molecular Wannier functions constructed for three magnetic t2 bands. The effects of rhombohedral distortion, spin-orbit interaction, band fil…

We theoretically study the stability of magnetic skyrmion crystals (SkXs) in chiral cubic antiferromagnets with the EuPtSi hosting unconventional nanometric SkXs in mind. By performing numerical simulations for a minimal effective spin model with the long-range Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and the multiple-spin interaction arising from itinerant nature of electrons, we clarify two key ingredients for the emergence of the SkXs in EuPtSi: One is the low-symmetric ordering vectors that lead to the field-direction sensitive SkXs in an external magnetic field, while the other is the synergy be…
We discover magnetic phases hosting highly-elusive and technologically important antiferromagnetic skyrmion quasiparicles in a model for Rashba-coupled Hund's insulator. The results are based on unbiased simulations of a classical superexchange model derived, in this work, from a realistic microscopic electronic Hamiltonian. We also discover a novel skyrmion density wave groundstate characterized by a ($Q,Q$) modulation in the local skyrmion density map. A unique inhomogeneous state characterized by a circular pattern in spin structure factor and filamentary real-space textures is identified a…
The recent discovery of magnetic skyrmion lattices initiated a surge of interest in the scientific community. Several novel phenomena have been shown to emerge from the interaction of conducting electrons with the skyrmion lattice, such as a topological Hall-effect and a spin-transfer torque at ultra-low current densities. In the insulating compound Cu2OSeO3, magneto-electric coupling enables control of the skyrmion lattice via electric fields, promising a dissipation-less route towards novel spintronic devices. One of the outstanding fundamental issues is related to the thermodynamic stabilit…
The magnetic ground state of polycrystalline Néel skyrmion hosting material GaV$_4$S$_8$ has been investigated using ac susceptibility and powder neutron diffraction. In the absence of an applied magnetic field GaV$_4$S$_8$ undergoes a transition from a paramagnetic to a cycloidal state below 13~K and then to a ferromagnetic-like state below 6~K. With evidence from ac susceptibility and powder neutron diffraction, we have identified the commensurate magnetic structure at 1.5 K, with ordered magnetic moments of $0.23(2)~μ_{\mathrm{B}}$ on the V1 sites and $0.22(1)~μ_{\mathrm{B}}$ on the V2 site…
We show that continuous and spin-lattice models of chiral ferro- and antiferromagnets provide the existence of an infinite number of stable soliton solutions of any integer topological charge. A detailed description of the morphology of new skyrmions and the corresponding energy dependencies are provided. The considered model is general, and is expected to predict a plethora of particle-like states which may occur in various chiral magnets including atomic layers, e.g., PdFe/Ir(111), rhombohedral GaV$_4$S$_8$ semiconductor, B20-type alloys as Mn$_{1-x}$Fe$_x$Ge, Mn$_{1-x}$Fe$_x$Si, Fe$_{1-x}$C…
Skyrmions are twirling magnetic textures whose non-trivial topology leads to particle-like properties promising for information technology applications. Perhaps the most important aspect of interacting particles is their ability to form thermodynamically distinct phases from gases and liquids to crystalline solids. Dilute gases of skyrmions have been realized in artificial multilayers, and solid crystalline skyrmion lattices have been observed in bulk skyrmion hosting materials. Yet, to date melting of the skyrmion lattice into a skyrmion liquid has not been reported experimentally. Through di…
Skyrmions in confined geometries have been a subject of increasing interest due to the different properties that they exhibit compared to their bulk counterparts. In this study, nanoparticles of skyrmion-hosting $\text{Cu}_{2}\text{OSeO}_{3}$ have been synthesised using a precipitation method followed by thermal treatment. This enables us to produce nanoparticles whose mean size varies from tens of nanometers to a few micrometers by varying the temperature and duration of the thermal decomposition of the precursor. These sizes span the $\sim 63$~nm diameter of skyrmions in $\text{Cu}_{2}\text{…
Magnetic skyrmions are vortex-like topological spin textures often observed to form a triangular-lattice skyrmion crystal in structurally chiral magnets with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. Recently $β$-Mn structure-type Co-Zn-Mn alloys were identified as a new class of chiral magnet to host such skyrmion crystal phases, while $β$-Mn itself is known as hosting an elemental geometrically frustrated spin liquid. Here we report the intermediate composition system Co$_7$Zn$_7$Mn$_6$ to be a unique host of two disconnected, thermal-equilibrium topological skyrmion phases; one is a conventional s…
In a $β$-Mn-type chiral magnet Co$_9$Zn$_9$Mn$_2$, we demonstrate that the magnetic field-driven collapse of a room temperature metastable topological skyrmion lattice passes through a regime described by a partial topological charge inversion. Using Lorentz transmission electron microscopy, the magnetization distribution was observed directly as the magnetic field was swept antiparallel to the original skyrmion core magnetization, i.e. negative magnetic fields. Due to the topological stability of skyrmions, a direct transition of the metastable skyrmion lattice to the equilibrium helical stat…
We theoretically investigate the origin of the square-type skyrmion crystal in centrosymmetric itinerant magnets, motivated from the recent experimental finding in GdRu$_2$Si$_2$ [N. D. Khanh $\mathit{et}$ $\mathit{al.}$, Nat. Nanotech. $\mathbf{15}$, 444 (2020)]. By simulated annealing for an effective spin model derived from the Kondo lattice model on a square lattice, we find that a square skyrmion crystal composed of a superposition of two spin helices is stabilized in a magnetic field by synergy between the positive biquadratic, bond-dependent anisotropic, and easy-axis anisotropic intera…
Topological transports of fermions are governed by the Chern numbers of the energy bands lying below the Fermi energy. For bosons, e.g. phonons and magnons in a crystal, topological transport is dominated by the Chern number of the lowest energy band when the band gap is comparable to the thermal energy. Here, we demonstrate the presence of topological transport by bosonic magnons in a lattice of magnetic skyrmions - topological defects formed by a vortex-like texture of spins. We find a distinct thermal Hall signal in the magnetic skyrmion phase of an insulating polar magnet GaV4Se8, identifi…

Magnetic materials hosting correlated electrons play an important role for information technology and signal processing. The currently used ferro-, ferri- and antiferromagnetic materials provide microscopic moments (spins) that are mainly collinear. Recently more complex spin structures such as spin helices and cycloids have regained a lot of interest. The interest has been initiated by the discovery of the skyrmion lattice phase in non-centrosymmetric helical magnets. In this review we address how spin helices and skyrmion lattices enrich the microwave characteristics of magnetic materials. W…
In the present work, we provide results from specific heat, magnetic susceptibility, dielectric constant, ac conductivity, and electrical polarization measurements performed on the lacunar spinel GaV4Se8. With decreasing temperature, we observe a transition from the paraelectric and paramagnetic cubic state into a polar, probably ferroelectric state at 42 K followed by magnetic ordering at 18 K. The polar transition is likely driven by the Jahn-Teller effect due to the degeneracy of the V4 cluster orbitals. The excess polarization arising in the magnetic phase indicates considerable magnetoele…
We present a theory of magnetoelectric magnon-photon coupling in cavities hosting noncentrosymmetric magnets. Analogously to nonreciprocal phenomena in multiferroics, the magnetoelectric coupling is time-reversal and inversion asymmetric. This asymmetry establishes a means for exceptional tunability of magnon-photon coupling, which can be switched on and off by reversing the magnetization direction. Taking the multiferroic skyrmion-host Cu$_2$OSeO$_3$ with ultralow magnetic damping as an example, we reveal the electrical activity of skyrmion eigenmodes and propose it for magnon-photon splittin…
In polar magnets, such as GaV$_4$S$_8$, GaV$_4$Se$_8$ and VOSe$_2$O$_5$, modulated magnetic phases namely the cycloidal and the Néel-type skyrmion lattice states were identified over extended temperature ranges, even down to zero Kelvin. Our combined small-angle neutron scattering and magnetization study shows the robustness of the Néel-type magnetic modulations also against magnetic fields up to 2 T in the polar GaMo$_4$S$_8$. In addition to the large upper critical field, enhanced spin-orbit coupling produces a variety of modulated phases with sub-10 nm periodicity and a peculiar distributio…
Magnetic skyrmion, i.e. a topologically stable swirling spin texture, appears as a particle-like object in the two-dimensional (2D) systems, and has recently attracted attention as a candidate of novel information carrier. In the real three-dimensional (3D) systems, a skyrmion is expected to form a string structure along an extra dimension, while its experimental identification has rarely been achieved. Here, we report the direct visualization of 3D shape of individual skyrmion strings, for the recently discovered room-temperature skyrmion-hosting noncentrosymmetric compound Mn1.4Pt0.9Pd0.1Sn.…
For the skyrmion-hosting intermetallic Gd$_2$PdSi$_3$ with centrosymmetric hexagonal lattice and triangular net of rare earth sites, we report a thorough investigation of the magnetic phase diagram. Our work reveals a new magnetic phase with isotropic value of the critical field for all orientations, where the magnetic ordering vector $\mathbf{q}$ is depinned from its preferred directions in the basal plane. This is in contrast to the highly anisotropic behavior of the low field phases, such as the skyrmion lattice (SkL), which are easily destroyed by in-plane magnetic field. The bulk nature o…
We report a magnetic state in GaV$_4$Se$_8$ which emerges exclusively in samples with mesoscale polar domains and not in polar mono-domain crystals. Its onset is accompanied with a sharp anomaly in the magnetic susceptibility and the magnetic torque, distinct from other anomalies observed also in polar mono-domain samples upon transitions between the cycloidal, the Néel-type skyrmion lattice and the ferromagnetic states. We ascribe this additional transition to the formation of magnetic textures localized at structural domain walls, where the magnetic interactions change stepwise and spin text…
We report detailed thermodynamic studies on high-quality single crystals of the centrosymmetric skyrmion-hosting intermetallic Gd2PdSi3 by means of high-resolution capacitance dilatometry in fields up to 15 T which are complemented by specific heat and magnetization studies. Our dilatometric measurements show magnetoelastic effects associated with antiferromagnetic order at TN1 = 22.3 K and TN2 = 19.7 K, as well as strong field effects in an applied magnetic field of 15 Tup to 200 K (150 K) for B||c (B||a*, i.e. B perp c). The data allow us to complete the magneticphase diagram, including a ne…
Reentrant spin glasses are frustrated disordered ferromagnets developing vortex-like textures under an applied magnetic field. Our study of a Ni$_{0.81}$Mn$_{0.19}$ single crystal by small angle neutron scattering clarifies their internal structure and shows that these textures are randomly distributed. Spin components transverse to the magnetic field rotate over length scales of 3-15 nm in the explored field range, decreasing as field increases according to a scaling law. Monte-Carlo simulations reveal that the internal structure of the vortices is strongly distorted and differs from that ass…
Magnetic materials hosting topological spin textures like magnetic skyrmion exhibit nontrivial Hall effect, namely, topological Hall effect (THE). In this study, we demonstrate the emergence of THE in thin films of half-metallic perovskite manganites. To stabilize magnetic skyrmions, we control the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy by imposing a compressive epitaxial strain as well as by introducing a small Ru doping. When the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is tuned so that it is balanced with the magnetic dipolar interaction, the film exhibits a sizable THE in a magnetization reversal proc…
Magnetic skyrmions are nano-sized topological spin textures stabilized by a delicate balance of magnetic energy terms. The chemical substitution of the underlying crystal structure of skyrmion-hosting materials offers a route to manipulate these energy contributions, but also introduces additional effects such as disorder and pinning. While the effects of doping and disorder have been well studied in B20 metallic materials such as Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$Si and Mn$_{1-x}$Fe$_x$Si, the consequences of chemical substitution in the magnetoelectric insulator Cu$_2$OSeO$_3$ have not been fully explored. In…
The notion of non-trivial topological winding in condensed matter systems represents a major area of present-day theoretical and experimental research. Magnetic materials offer a versatile platform that is particularly amenable for the exploration of topological spin solitons in real space such as skyrmions. First identified in non-centrosymmetric bulk materials, the rapidly growing zoology of materials systems hosting skyrmions and related topological spin solitons includes bulk compounds, surfaces, thin films, heterostructures, nano-wires and nano-dots. This underscores an exceptional potent…

We have used inelastic neutron scattering to measure the magnetic excitation spectrum along the high-symmetry directions of the first Brillouin zone of the magnetic skyrmion hosting compound Cu$_2$OSeO$_3$. The majority of our scattering data are consistent with the expectations of a recently proposed model for the magnetic excitations in Cu$_2$OSeO$_3$, and we report best-fit parameters for the dominant exchange interactions. Important differences exist, however, between our experimental findings and the model expectations. These include the identification of two energy scales that likely ari…
