We prove the reduction principle for asymptotics of functionals of vector random fields with weakly and strongly dependent components. These functionals can be used to construct new classes of random fields with skewed and heavy-tailed distributions. Contrary to the case of scalar long-range dependent random fields, it is shown that the asymptotic behaviour of such functionals is not necessarily determined by the terms at their Hermite rank. The results are illustrated by an application to the first Minkowski functional of the Student random fields. Some simulation studies based on the theoretical findings are also presented.
We study the law of the iterated logarithm (Khinchin (1924), Kolmogorov (1929)) and related strong invariance principles in stochastic geometry. As potential applications, we think of well-known functionals such as functionals defined on the $k$-nearest neighbors graph and important functionals in topological data analysis such as the Euler characteristic and persistent Betti numbers.
By comparing the original equations with the corresponding stationary ones, the moderate deviation principle (MDP) is established for unbounded additive functionals of several different models of distribution dependent SDEs, with non-degenerate and degenerate noises.
Inspired by the recent work [MRW20], we prove that the nodal length of a planar random wave $B_{E}$, i.e. the length of its zero set $B_{E}^{-1}(0)$, is asymptotically equivalent, in the $L^{2}$-sense and in the high-frequency limit $E\rightarrow \infty$, to the integral of $H_{4}(B_{E}(x))$, $H_4$ being the fourth Hermite polynomial. As a straightforward consequence, we obtain a central limit theorem in Wasserstein distance. This complements recent findings in [NPR19] and [PV20].
Information-theory based variational principles have proven effective at providing scalable uncertainty quantification (i.e. robustness) bounds for quantities of interest in the presence of nonparametric model-form uncertainty. In this work, we combine such variational formulas with functional inequalities (Poincar{é}, $\log$-Sobolev, Liapunov functions) to derive explicit uncertainty quantification bounds for time-averaged observables, comparing a Markov process to a second (not necessarily Markov) process. These bounds are well-behaved in the infinite-time limit and apply to steady-states of…
We prove a large deviation principle for the point process associated to $k$-element connected components in $\mathbb R^d$ with respect to the connectivity radii $r_n\to\infty$. The random points are generated from a homogeneous Poisson point process, so that $(r_n)_{n\ge1}$ satisfies $n^kr_n^{d(k-1)}\to\infty$ and $nr_n^d\to0$ as $n\to\infty$ (i.e., sparse regime). The rate function for the obtained large deviation principle can be represented as relative entropy. As an application, we deduce large deviation principles for various functionals and point processes appearing in stochastic geomet…
In this survey we collect some recent results regarding the Lipschitz-Killing curvatures (LKCs) of the excursion sets of random eigenfunctions on the two-dimensional standard flat torus (arithmetic random waves) and on the two-dimensional unit sphere (random spherical harmonics). In particular, the aim of the present survey is to highlight the key role of integration by parts formulae in order to have an extremely neat expression for the random LKCs. Indeed, the main tool to study local geometric functionals of random waves on manifold is to exploit their Wiener chaos decomposition and show th…
