Motivated by a simultaneous explanation of the apparent discrepancies in the light charged lepton anomalous magnetic dipole moments, and the anomalous internal pair creation in $^8$Be nuclear transitions, we explore a simple New Physics model, based on an extension of the Standard Model gauge group by a $U(1)_{B-L}$. The model further includes heavy vector-like fermion fields, as well as an extra scalar responsible for the low-scale breaking of $U(1)_{B-L}$, which gives rise to a light $Z^\prime$ boson. The new fields and currents allow to explain the anomalous internal pair creation in $^8$Be while being consistent with various experimental constraints. Interestingly, we find that the contributions of the $Z^\prime$ and the new $U(1)_{B-L}$-breaking scalar can also successfully account for both $(g-2)_{e,μ}$ anomalies; the strong phenomenological constraints on the model's parameter space ultimately render the combined explanation of $(g-2)_e$ and the anomalous internal pair creation in $^8$Be particularly predictive. The underlying idea of this minimal "prototype model" can be readily incorporated into other protophobic $U(1)$ extensions of the Standard Model.
We make a number of small changes, including correcting an error in our heavy-neutrino decay rate. None of our analysis is changed, either in substance or detail.
Anomalies in semi-leptonic $B$ decays could indicate new physics beyond the standard model(SM). There is an older puzzle in non-leptonic $B \to πK$ decays. The new particles, leptoquarks and diquarks, required to solve the semi-leptonic and the non-leptonic puzzles can also generate neutrino masses and mixing at loop level. We show that a consistent framework to explain the $B$ anomalies and the neutrino masses is possible and we make predictions for certain rare nonleptonic $B$ decays.
We present a unified explanation for the $B$-decay anomalies in $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ and $R_{K}$ together with the anomalous muon magnetic moment, consistent with the constraints from the current measurements of leptonic decay rates and $D^0-\bar{D}^0$, $B_{s}^0-\bar{B}_{s}^0$ mixings, within the framework of a minimal left-right symmetric gauge theory motivated by one of the low-energy subgroups of $E_{6}$ naturally accommodating leptoquarks.
Recently the MiniBooNE Collaboration has confirmed its anomalous excess in (anti)muon- to (anti)electron-neutrino oscillation data. Combined with long-standing results from the LSND experiment this amounts to a 6.1 sigma evidence for new physics beyond the Standard Model. In this paper we develop a framework with 3 active and 3 sterile neutrinos with altered dispersion relations that provides a mechanism to explain these anomalies without being in conflict with the absence of anomalous neutrino disappearance in other neutrino oscillation experiments.
We extend the contents of the standard model (SM) by introducing TeV-scale scalar leptoquarks to generate neutrino masses and explain some current observed deviations from the SM predictions, including the anomalous magnetic moments of charged leptons (electron and muon) and $B$-physics anomalies ($R_{K^{(*)}}$ and $R_{D^{(*)}}$). The model consists of $\text{SU}(2)_L$ singlet leptoquark $S_1\sim (\bar{3}, 1, 1/3)$, doublet leptoquark $\tilde{R}_2\sim (3, 2, 1/6)$ and triplet leptoquark $S_3\sim (\bar{3}, 3, 1/3)$. We combine the constraints arising from the low-energy lepton flavor violation,…
Significant deviations from the Standard Model are observed in semileptonic charged and neutral-current B-decays, the muon magnetic moment, and the extraction of the Cabibbo angle. We propose that these deviations point towards a coherent pattern of New Physics effects induced by two scalar mediators, a leptoquark $S_1$ and a charged singlet $ϕ^+$. While $S_1$ can provide solutions to charged-current $B$-decays and the muon magnetic moment, and $ϕ^+$ can accommodate the Cabibbo-angle anomaly independently, their one-loop level synergy can also address neutral-current $B$-decays. This framework…
We show that the neutrino mixing pattern with the large mixing required for the atmospheric neutrino problem and the small mixing angle MSW solution for the solar neutrino problem can be naturally generated through radiative magnification, even though all the mixing angles at the seesaw scale may be small. This can account for the neutrino anomalies as well as the CHOOZ constraints in the context of quark-lepton unified theories, where the quark and lepton mixing angles are expected to be similar in magnitude at the high scale. We also indicate the 4$ν$ mixing scenarios for which this mechanis…
We propose a leptoquark model simultaneously to explain anomalies of muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment and $b\to s μ\barμ$ in light of experimental reports very recently. Here, we satisfy several stringent constraints such as $μ\to eγ$ and meson mixings. In addition, we find these leptoquarks also play an role in generating tiny neutrino masses at one-loop level without introducing any additional symmetries. We have numerical analysis and show how degrees our parameter space is restricted.
Leptoquarks have been suggested to solve a variety of discrepancies between the expected and observed phenomenon. In this paper, we show that the scalar doublet Leptoquark with Hypercharge 7/6 can simultaneously explain the recent measurement of $R_{K}$, $R_{K^*}$, the excess in anomalous magnetic moment of muon, and the observed excess in IceCube HESE data. For appropriate choice of couplings, the flavor anomalies are generated at one-loop level and IceCube data is explained via resonant production of the Leptoquark. Several constraints from LHC searches are imposed on the model parameter spa…
In addition to the long-standing anomalies seen in the muon $g-2$, $R_{K^{(*)}}$, and $R_{D^{(*)}}$ observables by various independent experiments, the CDF Collaboration has found another significant one in the $W$-boson mass. These anomalies might be intertwined at a fundamental level and have a single new-physics explanation. In this paper, we present a simultaneous solution to these anomalies with two scalar leptoquarks of roughly equal mass -- one weak-singlet $S_1$ and the other a weak-triplet $S_3$ -- which mix through a Higgs portal. The solution has only a few new couplings and TeV-sca…
We provide a combined explanation of the increasingly tantalizing $B$-meson anomalies, both in $R_{K^{(*)}}$ and $R_{D^{(*)}}$, in the Pati-Salam model with minimal matter content. This well-known model, based on the gauge group $SU(4)_{LC} \times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R$, naturally contains a variety of scalar leptoquarks with related and restricted couplings. In particular we show that the seesaw-motivated scalar leptoquark within the representation $(\overline{10}, 3, 1)$ and its right-handed parity partner $(\overline{10}, 1, 3)$ can solve both anomalies while making testable predictions fo…
I review explanations for the three neutrino anomalies (solar, atmospheric and LSND) which go beyond the ``conventional'' neutrino oscillations induced by mass-mixing. Several of these require non-zero neutrino masses as well.
There are four models of tree-level new physics (NP) that can potentially explain the $b\to s μ^+ μ^-$ and $b \to c\ell \bar ν$ anomalies simultaneously. They are the S3, U3, and U1 leptoquarks and a standard-model-like triplet vector boson (VB). In this talk, I describe an analysis of these models with general couplings. We find that even in this most general case S3 and U3 are excluded. For the U1 model, I discuss the importance of the constraints from lepton-flavor-violating(LFV) processes. As for the VB model, it is shown to be excluded by the additional tree level constraints and LHC boun…
In this paper we provide a combined explanation of charged- and neutral-current $B$-physics anomalies assuming the presence of a light sterile neutrino $N_R$ which contributes to the $B \to D^{(*)} τν$ processes. We focus in particular on two simplified models, where the mediator of the flavour anomalies is either a vector leptoquark $U_1^μ\sim ({\bf 3}, {\bf 1}, 2/3)$ or a scalar leptoquark $S_1 \sim ({\bf \bar 3}, {\bf 1}, 1/3)$. We find that $U_1^μ$ can successfully reproduce the required deviations from the Standard Model while being at the same time compatible with all other flavour and p…
The current experimental values of anomalous magnetic moments of muon and electron deviate from the Standard Model predictions by few standard deviations, which might be a hint of new physics. The sizes and signs of these deviations are different and opposite between the electron and muon, which makes it difficult to explain both of these anomalies in a consistent model without introducing large flavour-violating effects. It is shown that they can be simultaneously explained in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) by arranging the sizes of bino-slepton and chargino-sneutrino contri…
In the last few years, the ratios $R_{D^{(*)}}$ and of $R_{K^{(*)}}$ have reportedly exhibited significant deviations from the relevant Standard Model predictions, hinting towards a possible violation of Lepton Flavor Universality and a window to New Physics. We investigate to what extent the inclusion of R-parity violating couplings in the Minimal Supersymemtric Standard Model can provide a better fit to the anomalies simultaneously. We perform this analysis employing an approximate, non-abelian $\mathcal{G}_f=U(2)_q \times U(2)_\ell$ flavour symmetry, which features a natural explanation of …
Motivated by the long-standing tension in the muon anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) and persistent observations of B-physics anomalies in $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ and $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$ ratios, we construct a simple two-loop radiative neutrino mass model, and propose a combined explanations of all these apparently disjoint phenomena within this framework. Our proposed model consists of two scalar leptoquarks (LQs), a $SU(2)_L$ singlet $S_1\sim (\overline{3},1,1/3)$ and a $SU(2)_L$ triplet $S_3\sim (\overline{3},3,1/3)$ to accommodate $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ and $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$ anomalies, respectively. The muon…
Motivated by the recent experimental progress on the $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ and $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$ anomalies in $B$-decays, we consider an extension of the Standard Model by a single vector leptoquark field. We study how one can achieve the required lepton flavour non-universality, starting from a priori universal gauge couplings. While the unitary coupling flavour structure, induced by the mass misalignment of quarks and leptons after $SU(2)_L$ breaking, does not allow to comply with stringent bounds from lepton flavour violating processes, we find that effectively non-unitary couplings, due to mixin…
We show that the recent anomalies in $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ transitions observed by the LHCb collaboration can be accommodated within string motivated models with a low mass $Z^{\prime}$ gauge boson. Such $Z^{\prime}$ gauge boson can be obtained in compactifications with a low string scale. We consider a class of intersecting D-brane models, in which different families of quarks and leptons are simultaneously realized at different D-brane intersections. The explanation of $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ anomalies via a stringy $Z^{\prime}$ sets important restrictions on these viable D-brane construct…
We present a thorough investigation of the vector leptoquark hypothesis for a combined explanation of the $B$-physics anomalies. We analyze this hypothesis from a twofold perspective, taking into account recent results from $B$-physics observables and high-$p_T$ searches. First, using a simplified model, we determine the general conditions for a successful low-energy fit in presence of right-handed leptoquark couplings (neglected in previous analyses). Second, we show how these conditions, in particular a sizable 2-3 family mixing, can be achieved in a motivated ultraviolet completion. Our ana…

We propose to jointly explain the electron/muon $g-2$ anomalies in the framework of anomaly mediated SUSY breaking (AMSB) scenario. Two Yukawa deflected AMSB models are proposed and discussed in depth: one with lepton-specific interactions and the other one with messenger-matter interactions. Both models are found to be able to jointly explain the anomalies at $2 σ$ level by naturally realizing the preferred parameter space with $μM_1,μM_2<0$ and very heavy left-handed smuon.
We propose a variant of the Pati-Salam model, with gauge group $SU(4)_C\times SU(2)_L\times U(1)_{Y'}$, in which the chiral left-handed quarks and leptons are unified into a $\underline{4}$ of $SU(4)_C$, while the right-handed quarks and leptons have quite a distinct treatment. The $SU(4)_C$ leptoquark gauge bosons can explain the measured deviation of lepton flavour universality in the rare decays: $\bar B \to \bar K^{(*)}\bar\ell\ell, \ell=μ,e$ (taken as a hint of new physics). The model satisfies the relevant experimental constraints and makes predictions for the important $B$ and $τ$ decay…
We propose simple models with a flavor-dependent global $U(1)_\ell$ and a discrete $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetries to explain the anomalies in the measured anomalous magnetic dipole moments of muon and electron, $(g-2)_{μ,e}$, while simultaneously accommodating a dark matter candidate. These new symmetries are introduced not only to avoid the dangerous lepton flavor-violating decays of charged leptons, but also to ensure the stability of the dark matter. Our models can realize the opposite-sign contributions to the muon and electron $g-2$ via one-loop diagrams involving new vector-like leptons. Unde…
We show that the anomalous acceleration of the Pioneer 10/11 spacecraft can be explained if there is some mirror gas or mirror dust in our solar system.
In order to simultaneously account for both $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ and $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$ anomalies in $B$-decays, we consider an extension of the Standard Model by a single vector leptoquark field, and study how one can achieve the required lepton flavour non-universality, starting from a priori universal gauge couplings. While the unitary quark-lepton mixing induced by $SU(2)_L$ breaking is insufficient, we find that effectively nonunitary mixings hold the key to simultaneously address the $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$ and $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$ anomalies. As an intermediate step towards various UV-complete models, we…
At the present time, there are discrepancies with the predictions of the SM in several observables involving $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ and $b \to c \ell^- {\barν}_\ell$ decays. These are the $B$ flavour anomalies. In this review, we summarize the data as of Moriond 2021 and present theoretical new-physics explanations from both a model-independent effective-field-theory point of view and through the building of explicit models. Throughout, we stress the complementarity of these two approaches. We also discuss combined explanations of both $B$ anomalies, and present models that also explain other…
We examine the compatibility between existing experimental data and a recently proposed explanation of the LSND and MiniBooNE anomalies, given in terms of a sterile neutrino $N$ whose decay is dominated by a radiative mode. We find that current experimental data on $τ\rightarrow μννγ$ decays are compatible with the sterile neutrino parameters required for the explanation of the anomalies, but $K\rightarrow μνγ$ shows a marginal tension with those parameters. We also propose experimental cuts on radiative $K$ decays that could test the sterile neutrino hypothesis better. Finally, we study the c…
Scalar theories can account for the current $R_{D^{(*)}}$ measurements through a vector operator $\bar{c}_L γ_μ b_L\,\barτ_L γ^μν_L$ induced at the loop level. Once the vector contribution is considered on top of a subdominant tree-level scalar component, the predicted value of $R_{D^{(*)}}$ falls within the $1σ$ region indicated by the experiments. We explicitly demonstrate this claim in the framework of a three Higgs doublet model extended with GeV scale right-handed neutrinos, by matching the anomalous signal for perturbative values of the involved couplings and respecting the bounds from c…
Puzzles associated with Yukawa's mesotron theory of nuclear interactions led to the discovery of "anomalies" in quantum field theory. I will discuss some of the remarkable consequences of these anomalies in the physics of elementary particles.
We address the presently reported significant flavor anomalies in the $K$ and $B$ meson systems such as the CP violating Kaon decay ($ε'/ε$) and lepton-flavor universality violation in $B$ meson decays ($R_{K^{(*)}},$ and also commenting ${R_{D^{(*)}}}$), by proposing flavorful and chiral vector bosons as the new physics constitution at $\sim 1\,\mathrm{TeV}$. Interestingly, if the new (composite) vector bosons are quite heavier than $\sim 1\,\mathrm{TeV}$, we face a difficulty in addressing the anomaly in $ε'/ε$ consistently with the constraint from the $K^0$-$\overline{K^0}$ mixing. Both of …
The most efficient way to extend the Standard Model of particle theory so that it accommodates the observed B anomalies is the hypothesis of a leptoquark which is a color-triplet weak-singlet boson with electric charge $Q=+\frac{2}{3}$. We point out that SU(15) grand unification with a scalar leptoquark in the adjoint representation gives a natural explanation for the violation of lepton flavour universality. We briefly discuss biquarks and bileptons.
This thesis covers a few successes of the SM and its limitations. The limitations implement that the SM must be expanded to explain the observables which can not be addressed by the SM such as mass of neutrinos, a few of anomalies, DM, DE, etc. In order to extend the SM, we take the model-dependent approach and a minimal extension to the SM. For the minimal extension, we make use of vector-like family, SM-like scalar (plus a singlet flavon), and $U(1)^\prime$ symmetry. A first BSM model in my first work is to explain both the electron and muon anomalous magnetic moments at the same time, while…
The CDF collaboration recently announced a new measurement result of the $W$ boson mass, and it is in tension with the standard model (SM) prediction. In this paper, we explain this anomaly in the vector-like quark (VLQ) $(X,T,B)_{L,R}$ and leptoquark (LQ) $S_3$ extended model. In this model, both the VLQ and LQ have positive corrections to the $W$ boson mass. Moreover, it can also be a solution to the $(g-2)_μ$ anomaly because of the chiral enhancements from top, $T$, and $B$ quarks.
A new mechanism of photon emission in the quark-gluon plasma is proposed. Photon dispersion relation in the presence of the $CP$-odd topological regions generated by the chiral anomaly acquires an imaginary mass. It allows photon radiation through the decay $q\to qγ$ and annihilation $q\bar q\to γ$ processes closely related to the chiral Cherenkov radiation. Unlike previous proposals this mechanism does not require an external magnetic field. The differential photon emission rate per unit volume is computed and shown to be comparable to the rate of photon emission in conventional processes.
We show that a fourth family of quarks with $m_{t'}$ in the range of (400 - 600) GeV provides a rather simple explanation for the several indications of new physics that have been observed involving CP asymmetries of the b-quark. The built-in hierarchy of the 4$\times$4 mixing matrix is such that the $t'$ readily provides a needed {\it perturbation} ($\approx 15%$) to $\sin 2 β$ as measured in $B \to ψK_s$ and simultaneously is the dominant source of CP asymmetry in $B_s \to ψϕ$. The correlation between CP asymmetries in $B_s \toψϕ$ and $B_d\toϕK_s$ suggests $m_{t'} \approx$ (400 - 600) GeV. S…
I review explanations for the three neutrino anomalies (solar, atmospheric and LSND) which go beyond the ``conventional'' neutrino oscillations induced by mass-mixing. Several of these require non-zero neutrino masses as well.
The experimental observation of neutrino oscillations profoundly impacted the physics of neutrinos, from being well understood theoretically to requiring new physics beyond the standard model of particle physics. Indeed, the mystery of neutrino masses implies the presence of new particles never observed before, often called sterile neutrinos, as they would not undergo standard weak interactions. And while neutrino oscillation measurements entered the precision era, reaching percent-level precision, many experimental results show significant discrepancies with the standard model, at baselines m…
The explanation for lepton $g-2$ anomalies is provided with the nonlocal QED which is the simple extension of the standard model. This solution is based on the same gauge symmetry as QED without introducing any new particles and interactions. The correlation functions in the nonlocal strength tension and lepton-photon interaction make it possible to explain the discrepancies of both $Δa_μ$ and $Δa_e$. With the same approach, the discrepancy of anomalous magnetic moment of $τ$ lepton from standard model is estimated in the range $1.19\times10^{-5}$ to $3.21\times10^{-3}$ which is covered by the…
Baksan Experiment on Sterile Neutrino (BEST) is presently at the stage of production of the artificial neutrino source Cr-51, the gallium exposure will start in July and proceed for three months. While aiming specifically at investigating the Gallium neutrino anomaly (SAGE and GALLEX experiments), BEST can do more and it is tempting to estimate its ability in testing sterile neutrino explanation of antineutrino (reactor) anomalies. We observe a moderate sensitivity to the region in model parameter space (sterile neutrino mass and mixing with active electron neutrino) outlined by the old reacto…
There are presently several discrepancies in $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ decays of $B$ mesons suggesting new physics coupling to $b$ quarks and leptons. We show that a $Z'$, with couplings to quarks and muons that can explain the $B$-decay anomalies, can also couple to dark matter in a way that is consistent with its relic abundance, direct detection limits, and hints of indirect detection. The latter include possible excess events in antiproton spectra recently observed by the AMS-02 experiment. We present two models, having a heavy (light) $Z'$ with $m_{Z'}\sim 600\,(12)\,$GeV and fermionic dark…
Motivated by additional experimental hints of Lepton Flavour Universality violation in B decays, both in charged- and in neutral-current processes, we analyse the ingredients necessary to provide a combined description of these phenomena. By means of an Effective Field Theory (EFT) approach, based on the hypothesis of New Physics coupled predominantly to the third generation of left-handed quarks and leptons, we show how this is possible. We demonstrate, in particular, how to solve the problems posed by electroweak precision tests and direct searches with a rather natural choice of model param…
The new measurement of the $W$ boson mass performed by the CDF experiment at the Tevatron shows a significant deviation not only with the expectation in the Standard Model but also with other precision measurements performed at LEP, the Tevatron and the LHC. We nevertheless take this new measurement at face value and interpret it as an effect of new physics. We particularly try to link it with other possible anomalies such as the recent muon $g-2$ and consider a scenario that addresses some shortcomings of the Standard Model. We show that a model with two doublets and a light pseudoscalar Higg…
So-called 4321 gauge models at the TeV scale with hierarchical couplings reminiscent of the Standard Model Yukawas offer a coherent combined explanation of the recent $B$-meson anomalies. In these proceedings, based on arXiv:2203.01952, we discuss how such models could arise from a multi-scale theory of flavor, based on a warped fifth dimension with three branes. This higher dimensional construction provides a natural description of flavor hierarchies, addresses the electroweak hierarchy problem, and allows for the Higgs to be identified as a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson emerging from the same…
Recent anomalies in $^8$Be and $^4$He nuclear decays can be explained by postulating a fifth force mediated by a new boson $X$. The distributions of both transitions are consistent with the same $X$ mass, 17 MeV, providing kinematic evidence for a single new particle explanation. In this work, we examine whether the new results also provide dynamical evidence for a new particle explanation, that is, whether the observed decay rates of both anomalies can be described by a single hypothesis for the $X$ boson's interactions. We consider the observed $^8$Be and $^4$He excited nuclei, as well as a …
The excess of top quark forward-backward asymmetry ($A^t_{FB}$) reported by the Tevatron and the enhancement of the Higgs decay to diphoton observed by the LHC may point to a same origin of new physics. In this note we examined such anomalies in the two-Higgs-doublet model with a color-triplet scalar. We found that under current experimental constraints this model can simultaneously explain both anomalies at $1σ$ level. Also, we examined the Higgs decay $h\to Zγ$ and displayed its correlation with $h\to γγ$. We found that unlike other models, this model predicts a special correlation between $…
Attention is drawn to the several 2-3 $σ$ "anomalies" in B, $B_s$ mixings and decays involving CP-observables. Perhaps the most interesting theoretical scenario that could cause such effects is based on warped extra-dimensional models and indeed some of the effects were predicted there. However, a rather simple explanation is that based on a fourth family of quarks with masses in the range of(400 - 600) GeV. The built-in hierarchy of the 4$\times$4 mixing matrix is such that the $t'$ readily provides a needed {\it perturbation} ($\approx 15%$) to $\sin 2 β$ as measured in $B \to ψK_s$ and simu…
Leptoquarks have been proposed as a possible explanation of anomalies in $\bar{B}\mapsto D^{*} τ\bar{ν} $ decays, the apparent anomalies in $(g-2)_μ$ experiments and a violation of lepton universality. Motivated by this, we examine other motivations of leptoquarks: radiatively induced neutrino masses in the presence of a discrete symmetry that prevents a tree level see-saw mechanism, gauge coupling unification, and vacuum stability at least up to the unification scale. We present a new model for radiatively generating a neutrino mass which can significantly improve gauge coupling unification a…
The recent experimental results including $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$, $R_{D^{(\ast)}}$, $(g-2)_μ$ and $W$ mass show deviations from the standard model (SM) predictions, implying the clues of new physics (NP). In this work, we investigate the explanations of these anomalies in the $R$-parity violating minimal supersymmetric standard model (RPV-MSSM) extended with the inverse seesaw mechanism. The non-unitarity extent $η_{ee}$ and the loop corrections from the interaction $λ'\hat L \hat Q \hat D$ are utilized to raise the prediction of $W$ mass through muon decays. We also find that the interaction $λ'\ha…
At the present time, there are a number of measurements of $B$-decay observables that disagree with the predictions of the standard model. These discrepancies have been seen in processes governed by two types of decay: (i) $b \to s μ^+ μ^-u$ and (ii) $b \to c τ^- {\barν}$. In this talk, I review the experimental results, as well as the proposed new-physics explanations. We may be seeing the first signs of physics beyond the standard model.
The discrepancies between the measurements of rare (semi-)leptonic $B$ decays and the corresponding Standard Model predictions point convincingly towards the existence of new physics for which a heavy neutral gauge boson ($Z^\prime$) is a prime candidate. However, the effect of the mixing of the $Z^\prime$ with the SM $Z$, even though it cannot be avoided by any symmetry, is usually assumed to be small and thus neglected in phenomenological analyses. In this letter we point out that a mixing of the naturally expected size leads to lepton flavour universal contributions, providing a very good f…
In this note, we discuss the impact of the recent Belle result on the various theoretical explanations of the $R_D$ and $R_{D^*}$ anomalies. The pure tensor explanation, which was strongly disfavoured by the measurements of $F_L^{D^*}$ and high-$p_T$ $p \, p \to τ\, ν$ searches before Moriond, is now completely allowed because of reduction of the experimental world-average. Moreover, the pure right-chiral vector solution (involving right-chiral neutrinos) has now moved into the $2σ$ allowed range of the LHC $p \, p \to τ\, ν$ searches. We also critically re-examine the bound on $\mathcal{B}(B_…
The FNAL+BNL measurements for muon $g-2$ is $4.2σ$ above the SM prediction, and the Berkeley $^{133}$Cs measurement for the fine-structure constant $α_{\rm em}$ leads to the SM prediction for electron $g-2$ which is $2.4σ$ above the experimental value. Hence, a joint explanation of both anomalies requires a positive contribution to muon $g-2$ and a negative contribution to electron $g-2$, which is rather challenging. In this work we explore the possibility of such a joint explanation in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). Assuming no universality between smuon and selectron soft …
We investigate a speculative short-distance force, proposed to explain discrepancies observed between measurements of certain neutral current decays of $B$ hadrons and their Standard Model predictions. The force derives from a spontaneously broken, gauged $U(1)_{B_3-L_2}$ extension to the Standard Model, where the extra quantum numbers of Standard Model fields are given by third family baryon number minus second family lepton number. The only fields beyond those of the Standard Model are three right-handed neutrinos, a gauge field associated with $U(1)_{B_3-L_2}$ and a Standard Model singlet c…
