We study the predictions for the matter redshift-space power spectrum and correlation function of a Lagrangian-space Gaussian ansatz introduced in a previous work. This model is a natural extension of the Zeldovich approximation, where the displacement and velocity power spectra are determined by the equations of motion, instead of being set equal to the linear power spectrum. It does not contain any free parameter. As for the real-space statistics, we find that this Lagrangian-space approach is much more efficient for the correlation functions than for the power spectra. The damping of the BAO oscillations is well recovered but there is a large smooth drift from the simulations in the power spectra. The multipoles of the correlation functions are well recovered on BAO scales, with an accuracy of $2\%$ for $ξ^s_0$ down to $10 h^{-1}$ Mpc, and of $3\%$ for $ξ^s_2$ down to $26 h^{-1}$ Mpc, at $z \geq 0.35$.
We apply the Lagrangian perturbation theory with time-dependent growth functions at second and third order of perturbation with the aim to model the effect of dynamical dark energy on redshift-space distortions. Our fiducial galaxy redshift surveys are modeled after the upcoming SKA and DESI redshift surveys. We include PLANCK CMB priors and the 20\% uncertainty on the linear bias parameter, incorporating the unknown instrumentation noise. After the marginalizing, our results show that the constraints on the density parameter could potentially get better than $\sim$1\%, while the constraints o…
We present an emulator that accurately predicts the power spectrum of galaxies in redshift space as a function of cosmological parameters. Our emulator is based on a 2nd-order Lagrangian bias expansion that is displaced to Eulerian space using cosmological $N$-body simulations. Redshift space distortions are then imprinted using the non-linear velocity field of simulated particles and haloes. We build the emulator using a forward neural network trained with the simulations of the BACCO project, which covers an 8-dimensional parameter space including massive neutrinos and dynamical dark energy.…
We present the one-loop 2-point function of biased tracers in redshift space computed with Lagrangian perturbation theory, including a full resummation of both long-wavelength (infrared) displacements and associated velocities. The resulting model accurately predicts the power spectrum and correlation function of halos and mock galaxies from two different sets of N-body simulations at the percent level for quasi-linear scales, including the damping of the baryon acoustic oscillation signal due to the bulk motions of galaxies. We compare this full resummation with other, approximate, techniques…
Improving the theoretical description of galaxy clustering on small scales is an important challenge in cosmology, as it can considerably increase the scientific return of forthcoming galaxy surveys -- e.g. tightening the bounds on neutrino masses and deviations from general relativity. In this paper, we propose and test a new model for the clustering of galaxies that is able to accurately describe redshift-space distortions even down to small scales. This model corresponds to a second-order perturbative Lagrangian bias expansion which is advected to Eulerian space employing a displacement fie…
We present a formalism for jointly fitting pre- and post-reconstruction redshift-space clustering (RSD) and baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) plus gravitational lensing (of the CMB) that works directly with the observed 2-point statistics. The formalism is based upon (effective) Lagrangian perturbation theory and a Lagrangian bias expansion, which models RSD, BAO and galaxy-lensing cross correlations within a consistent dynamical framework. As an example we present an analysis of clustering measured by the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey in combination with CMB lensing measured by Pla…
We explore and compare different ways large-scale structure observables in redshift-space and real space can be connected. These include direct computation in Lagrangian space, moment expansions and two formulations of the streaming model. We derive for the first time a Fourier space version of the streaming model, which yields an algebraic relation between the real- and redshift-space power spectra which can be compared to earlier, phenomenological models. By considering the redshift-space 2-point function in both configuration and Fourier space, we show how to generalize the Gaussian streami…
Estimating CDM Particle Trajectories in the Mildly Non-Linear Regime of Structure Formation. Implications for the Density Field in Real and Redshift Space
We develop a Lagrangian Perturbation Theory (LPT) framework to study the clustering of cold dark matter (CDM) in cosmologies with massive neutrinos. We follow the trajectories of CDM particles with Lagrangian displacements fields up to third order in perturbation theory. Once the neutrinos become non-relativistic, their density fluctuations are modeled as being proportional to the CDM density fluctuations, with a scale-dependent proportionality factor. This yields a gravitational back-reaction that introduces additional scales to the linear growth function, which is accounted for in the higher…

Redshift-space distortions (RSD) in galaxy redshift surveys generally break both the isotropy and homogeneity of galaxy distribution. While the former aspect is particularly highlighted as a probe of growth of structure induced by gravity, the latter aspect, often quoted as wide-angle RSD but ignored in most of the cases, will become important and critical to account for as increasing the statistical precision in next-generation surveys. However, the impact of wide-angle RSD has been mostly studied using linear perturbation theory. In this paper, employing the Zel'dovich approximation, i.e., f…
We investigate the amount of primordial information that can be reconstructed from spectroscopic galaxy surveys, as well as what sets the noise in reconstruction at low wavenumbers, by studying a simplified universe in which galaxies are the Zeldovich displaced Lagrangian peaks in the linear density field. For some of this study, we further take an intuitive linearized limit in which reconstruction is a convex problem but where the solution is also a solution to the full nonlinear problem, a limit that bounds the effectiveness of reconstruction. The linearized reconstruction results in similar…
Many models of high energy physics suggest that the cosmological dark sector consists of not just one, but a spectrum of ultralight scalar particles with logarithmically distributed masses. To study the potential signatures of low concentrations of ultralight axion (also known as fuzzy) dark matter, we modify Lagrangian perturbation theory (LPT) by distinguishing between trajectories of different dark matter species. We further adapt LPT to include the effects of a quantum pressure, which is necessary to generate correct initial conditions for ultralight axion simulations. Based on LPT, our mo…
We study the ability of perturbative models with effective field theory contributions and infra-red resummation to model the redshift space clustering of biased tracers in models where the linear power spectrum has "features" -- either imprinted during inflation or induced by non-standard expansion histories. We show that both Eulerian and Lagrangian perturbation theory are capable of reproducing the Fourier space two-point functions of halos up to the non-linear scale from a suite of $4096^3$ particle N-body simulations. This is the first demonstration that perturbative models can accurately …
The peculiar velocities of biased tracers of the cosmic density field contain important information about the growth of large scale structure and generate anisotropy in the observed clustering of galaxies. Using N-body data, we show that velocity expansions for halo redshift-space power spectra are converged at the percent-level at perturbative scales for most line-of-sight angles $μ$ when the first three pairwise velocity moments are included, and that the third moment is well-approximated by a counterterm-like contribution. We compute these pairwise-velocity statistics in Fourier space using…
We extend the scale-dependent Gaussian Streaming Model (GSM) to produce analytical predictions for the anisotropic redshift-space correlation function for biased tracers in modified gravity models. Employing the Convolution Lagrangian Perturbation Theory (CLPT) re-summation scheme, with a local Lagrangian bias schema provided by the peak-background split formalism, we predict the necessary ingredients that enter the GSM, the real-space halo pairwise velocity and the pairwise velocity dispersion. We further consider effective field theory contributions to the pairwise velocity dispersion in ord…
Constraints on gravity and cosmology will greatly benefit from performing joint clustering and weak lensing analyses on large-scale structure data sets. Utilising non-linear information coming from small physical scales can greatly enhance these constraints. At the heart of these analyses is the matter power spectrum. Here we employ a simple method, dubbed "Hybrid $P_\ell(k)$", based on the Gaussian Streaming Model (GSM), to calculate the quasi non-linear redshift space matter power spectrum multipoles. This employs a fully non-linear and theoretically general prescription for the matter power…
We propose a cosmological scenario involving a scalar field, $φ$, that is a source of Dark Matter as well as of Dark Energy. Besides $φ$, the Lagrangian of the field theory envisaged in our scenario contains a second field $χ$, for simplicity assumed to be a scalar, too. For fixed values of $χ$, the potential term decays exponentially at large positive values of $φ$. While $φ$ is not coupled to Standard Model fields, $χ$ is assumed to be coupled to them, and the Green functions of $χ$ depend on the cosmological redshift in the expanding universe. We assume that the term in the Lagrangian coupl…
We consider a cosmological scenario where the dark sector is described by two perfect fluids that interact through a velocity-dependent coupling. This coupling gives rise to an interaction in the dark sector driven by the relative velocity of the components, thus making the background evolution oblivious to the interaction and only the perturbed Euler equations are affected at first order. We obtain the equations governing this system with the Schutz-Sorkin Lagrangian formulation for perfect fluids and derive the corresponding stability conditions to avoid ghosts and Laplacian instabilities. A…
